On a serious point, this "rich man's gagging order" makes a mockery of free speech.

I can appreciate that the rich and powerful don't want the press trawling through their private lives, going through their dustbins and tapping their phones because of who they are.  That's fair enough but I don't think it's right that Imogen's private life can be splashed all over the press while this so-called 'family man' footballer's private life is protected by these gagging orders that only the very rich can afford, and no one's allowed to even mention it.

Today it was pointed out while journalist, Andrew Marr had his super injunction in place, he was questioning Gordon Brown on malicious press speculation about his use of prescription pain killers.

the pompous celebrity lawyer saying 'perhaps imogen and others should learn from this'.......no mention that perhaps married men/women who are high profile should also learn........but they don't have too.......they chuck a bit of their wealth about and get a super injunction and sleep easy..........of course she was in the wrong.....but so was he.......and she is getting all the blame whilst he stays protected.it takes two to have an affair....and he wasn't bothered about his wife and kids when he was sleeping with imogen thomas

Spot on, Spongey.

Jackson B, I'm not justifying the injunction, I'm suggesting that by now, delightful young ladies like Imogen should have sussed out that Anna Raeburn gave great advice. Meanwhile, having read page 6 of the Eye, one could easily believe that Imogen was being paid extra cash for being a decoy. There are several injunctions involving important people.

so thats a good reason for  an injunction?

Why shouldn't famous people take out super injunctions to keep their private life PRIVATE?

It's no ones business but their own,  why would the press even want to print such unimportant drival.?

Because people like to read tittle tattle about people in the public eye.  When you put yourself into the public eye (successfully), you become of interest to others.  We just can't help being nosey - obviously some people are more obsessed with scandal and gossip than others.

It also depends if you see the law as being blind or not, as the statue outside The Old Bailey depicts.

I agree in part that private lives are private lives, but that should go for everyone.  A rich man shouldn't be able to buy a private life under law when a man or woman of moderate means can't.

For example, Andrew Marr (a journalist of all professions) quizzing Gordon Brown on malicious press tittle tattle about prescription painkillers that had already been officially denied, while holding a super injunction on his own affairs, surely that's the definition of  hypocrisy?

Just been catching up with yesterday's Guardian. Super Injunctions cost between ÂĢ10k and ÂĢ15k. I've known people who spend that on a car. The lady who had some sort of a fling with the excitingly handsome Andrew Marr has written to the papers reminding them not to mention who she is as she has a good case. One is led to believe that rather than being some sort of victim Imogen knows exactly what she is doing.

Shame But I would get myself on Live TV somewhere and just keep dropping his name

I agree that it should be one rule for everyone rich or poor, famous or not,  however famous people (as long as they aren't promoting family values and getting high and mighty about morallity)  I say let their private lives stay private.

I think Andrew Marr quizzing our former PM about any medication he might have been on is of direct interest to the public simply because it could effect how he runs the country,  but Andrew Marr's private life doesn't really effect any of us one way or another, or indeed whoever Imogen has been slepping with this week effect any of us.
