and Ticketmasters site keeps saying "nothing currently available" I'm now slightly concerned that we're not going to be able to get parked. Have tried getting through on the phone but, surprise suprise, no answer. I've never driven there on an event night before so am not really sure what the deal is.....are we likely to be able to get a space without pre booking?

There is no way you will be able to park without pre booking especially if the event is popular. I would never ever drive to any concert/show in London. Best to go by public transport and save yourself all the anxiety.
I see you live in Kent. Another option would be to drive to some quieter car park well away from 02 and then get public transport to the venue.
If you google 'parking for the o2' you get quite a few places who offer parking and who are a short dlr/tube from the arena.
Parking is controlled around there so trying to get a parking space will probably be difficult.
Or you could try parking at North Greenwich tube station (pay & display.. probably about ÂĢ6).. that's adjacent to both O2 carparks.
Or you could try car park 4 of the O2. As far as I know it is for people going to the cinema and I think it is free (so tell them you're going to the cinema, go buy a cinema ticket, take your car park ticket and the valid cinema ticket to the desk and they'll swap it for a car park exit ticket). Note: I've never tried this someone told me about it
Or there is a Sainsbury's on the A2 and about 10/15 minutes walk to the O2... it has a 2hr limit though so you'd have to take your chances
