Oh Devil, that's terrible
I lost one of my very closest friends last year, just one month off her 50th birthday.
Hope you have lots of great memories.

Tragic news DD. I`m so sorry.
I shall vent my frustrations on Beas Today! Thanks Scotty!
Yes! I`ll be by your side all day DD.
I am so sorry to hear that Devil, I have sister with epilepsy and it is a background fear that you live with every day.
<---for Vicky, she would've laughed at them!
..she was a very positive person, so I shall try & be too....God Bless you Vicky & goodnight...

My Sister does as well, I guess that's why we got so friendly in the 1st place...
...last year we went out drinking in Castlefield in Manchester, she had a fit then, people just stared at her or froze...gawping at her.
Luckily, with my Sister having epilepsy (though she doesn't have fits very often at all now), I have known from a young age what to do
One of my Friends biggest fears was fitting in a public place....
I'm so sorry to hear your sad news, and condolences to her family and friends

That`s lovely DD
Positive thoughts all day She wouldn't want anybody to be sad!
It's up to you lot to cheer me up!

We never did get to the Tomato throwing festival in Spain, we always said we would! Too late now...
One day, sometime, you might like to go there on behalf of your friend? A sort of pilgrimmage, if you will.
I saw that on telly the other day, madness!!
I know, looks like fun though! We always said we'd go! So maybe one day I will!
I hope you do! It'll be fun and done in the spirit intended.
A little madness is good for the soul.
Something for you to look forward to DD....
I'm so sorry to here you sad news.
Such sad news, DiD. When someone dies suddenly (particularly when they are not elderly), the grief and shock can be overwhelming, but eventually it is possible to remember all the good times you had and be grateful for the time you shared together.

Looks fab doesn't it! She was as mad as a box of frogs!
So sorry DID - makes us realise the frailties of life and how really short life is -

I know yogi I still feel like it's not real, numb, the reality will kick in later though when the girls get together, she has God Children...they adore her...it's heartbreaking!

Too right..every day when you get up, you never know if it's going to be your last....all the time I spend worrying over trivial things seems stupid now....we shall give her a good send off...I am proud to call her my Friend..

She sounds like she was a lovely lady, who had lots of people who loved her. We are lucky when we have had people like that in our lives, although it hurts like Hell when we lose them.

..my Friend passed away suddenly Yesterday.
She had epilepsy and felt abit ill at work Yesterday, she went home and started to have a fit, so she called herself an Ambulance...sadly, by the time they got there it was too late she had had another fit whilst waiting....
..we're not sure if she passed out and banged her head or choked as yet, whichever way, I am so upset.
I don't want to depress you all, but am feeling very down Today, hopefully this place will keep me occupied....
I just can't believe she has gone, we were only planning our Bank Holiday shennanigans the other day as the girlies usually get Together and meet up with the fellas later on....terrible news.
Her Dad lives in France and in the 7 or 8 years I have known her, she has never mentioned her Mum....shocking....
..so please, help cheer me up Today...
There are no words I can say that will ease your pain but just to tell you that I feel for your loss. I lost my beloved brother when he was 24 and drowned in the bath while having an epileptic fit. This was 40 years ago and I miss him still. If it is any comfort someone once said not to see it as a life cut short but a life completed.

Offering shoulder to cry on. There there.

sorry to hear that DiD
Bloody hell Devil... I can't not say anything... but I haven't got any proper words to say...
I'm stupid about epilepsy though... I've only known by childhood friends brother who had it... and he lived with his family, and then drugs brought it under control... last time I heard from them.
Tis a bit terrifying, cos two years ago I popped down to asda one evening (to buy a school top for one of the kids). As I walked through the clothing bit towards the tills I saw a group of people pointing and staring round the corner of the shoe aisle.. as I continued walking I saw a young woman fitting on the floor... her head was banging against the bit you sit on to try on shoes, it was bleeding.
I was stunned.... they were all just whispering. I asked if anyone had gone to get help and they all just shuffled off, not making eye contact.... she was really hurting her head by now, and I had no idea what to do... so I just knelt down and kicked the objects out of the way (I didn't know what I was doing... must have been adrenaline powering me)... I then started yelling like a banshee for someone to get some help.
Eventually an Asda trained First Aider came and told me an ambulance had been called (so they knew there was a problem).... she didn't take over though... I sat trying to look after that girls head for ages til someone who said she was a nurse came and took over.
I left in shock and tears. And now I'm in shock all over again.....

Ditty I think that is a big fear of alot of epiletics, having a fit in a Public place....as i mentioned earlier in the thread, my Sister is epilectic so I have HAD to know what to do should the worst happen, my Parents drummed it into me.
My Sister suffered terrible panic attacks after having a fit in a Supermarket and knowing people were just stood there staring at her, doing nothing...it took her a long time to feel confident enough to be in a Public place for any length of time...
..I also have seen it before, (I used to work in a Supermarket) and, with my Friend in Manchester. The first thing I did was help her and told people to push off as I know she'd be embarrassed...it's just horrible....

aww Ditty, you should be proud hun, you probably saved that woman's life amazing tho isn't it, how many people just don't want to get involved?
Probably not the right time to ask you... but, all I did was stop her hurting herself and sit with her, and shout for help.
What should I have done?
What should I have done?
moomin, so very sorry

Aaaw Devil I know what you mean. I was out with my sister in a large shopping centre a while back. After she had a fit I had sorted her and sat next to her reading the paper until she was well enough to get up, I got a lot of negative comments but what are you meant to do. Luckily we both got a good laugh out of it. It sounds like your friend had a good spirit and that is what you should remember.
