Was on the ITV 10 0 Clock news - at the end a review of the following mornings headlines and i think they said it was the daily mail!!

So he just wants to take money away from them - money that is vital if they are to make sure nothing like this was to happen again!!

I missed the news and wouldn't wipe my arse on the Mail, so I repeat, give us a link so we can read and assess this news report

I believe Local Authority insurances cover such eventualities.

that may very well be the case - however I still think he is wrong to try and sue them - like I see where was he - and the he couldn't see him answer doesn't cut it with me he should have tried harder!!
The Daily MAIL website? I'm sure they'll have plenty reactionary stuff to say as soon as you like.
It's a good forum topic tho innit if you want to get an outraged debate started.

never visted it before tonight and even then it was only to see of there was a link!!
some women are complete bitches when it comes to the father's of their kids. and i dont doubt for one minute that baby p's 'mother' was. mother's have first right to their kids, before the dad's do. he probably couldn't afford court to sort out visitation rights or custody. and she would have probably been driven to hide baby p's injuries from him too.
nto saying this IS the case..just a scenerio....i dont really believe he should sue the council tbh, but then everyone grieves differently, if it was me in his place i may do that...you dont know till been there really.
let face it they DID fail

We don't know the details of access etc so it's a bit premature to judge him I think.
From what I understand, baby P lived with his mother and her boyfriend. NOT his father.quote:Originally posted by Pretty_P:

I'm not sure what to make of any of it tbh.
The idea of getting money for what happened to that poor little mite seems wrong to me.
I can't believe that any amount of money could ever make up for the dereliction of duty from social services, the police, the NHS etc.
If I was him I'd probably spend my life trying to ensure that the barstewards who did this were never ever let out - and that those responsible for Child Protection who badly failed that baby never worked around vulnerable people again

I first heard this back at the turn of the year .. there's a link here http://www.localis.org.uk/arti...ather-in-sue-row.htm
His issue was that he had warned the council about the baby's mum's new partner I think.

totally agree Veggie. I have had the social knocking on my door because my daughter hasnt been to school for a few days (even though they know I suffer with severe anxiety). Anyone and everyone could tell you that my daughter is not at any risk of starvation/neglect/physical/mental abuse - she has EVERYTHING she wants. I had an appt with a social worker today regarding my daughter - and the social worker didnt turn up!!!!!! I know of a family that actually NEED the social services to intervene... but NO - they come knocking on MY door instead

Giving him back to his mother as the toddler screamed: "Daddy! Daddy! Daddy!"
the Times
Note the bit where it says he tried to warn social services 5 months before Peter died. So he was aware there was danger there

well I hope he does bloody sue em..good luck to him and on another note, does it feel good for some of you to constantly take the piss out of Pretty P everytime she posts a topic? leave her alone for gawds sake, you trolled her enough with yer ganging up the other day
has he been quoted as saying he wants compensation anywhere? he may be sueing them coz of the negligence that caused his son to die and quite rightly so too ..baby P was let down and paid with his life..I am not saying all social workers are the same because their are some brilliant hard working ones out there, but believe me, when your hands are tied with beauratic red tape and the top management in their ivory towers, telling you what steps you can and can not take, I imagine it can be frustrating in any kind of Goverment job

he had no choice to give him back as he had limited access..

Social workers are not medical experts. He should be suing the doctors who failed to spot his broken bones and bruises.
And if he was o concerned why did he hand the lad back to her after his visits. If he was that concerned then breaking the law to highlight it, would have been a small price to pay.

Any money would come from the insurers the council has its liability indemnity with , not from direct service provision budgets.. not a fan of the lawsuit thing, but where there's malpractice, any compensation paid doesn't mean less services. If they're fined , that might be different..

That's what I said the other day.

I just think that by suing them he is kinding of making a mockery of the whole thing - the money won't bring the little boy back and it certainly wouldn't replace him - I personally would not respect someone who seeks money in such cases - if he sought to improve awareness of child abuse and did charity work for such causes in his sons name I would support him a whole lot more!!
BTW thanks for the support there - nice to know that there are some on here who don't hate me!!
Read in the paper today that the bloke that killed Baby Peter (one of them)is now living in fear in the jail, since his name and mugshot has been plastered all over the place.Even though he is being protected(solitary etc) the other prisoners are out to get him.Good! hope he lives in terror for a long time to come.It still won't match the terror and suffering that poor baby went through though.
If I only had limited access to my child and thought s/he was in any danger, I'd be outside the SS offices every morning badgering them to do something. If he did that, all good, if not don't start demanding compensation now. He was as responsible for his child as the mother.

I suppose until any of us go through what he's going through we'll never know how we'd react. Maybe he's going to do both. Sue them and raise awareness. Maybe he plans to use the money for a good cause. Lots of maybes and until he personally tells us what his plans are I'd take anything reported with a pinch of salt.
Not everyone hates you btw. I said my piece in the troll tank.

I have not seen him actually quote that he is suing for compensation hev, just read that he is suing the Council, so I will reserve judgement until then and as some have said, you dont really know what you would do in that situation until you are in it, whatever he does, it will not bring his son back and if he has any regrets, he has the rest of his life, day in and day out to live with it
