I don't think he wants to be "friends" with Shabby.
I think he just wants to be courteous; nothing wrong with that.
Nobody in the house could really be "friends" in the loyalty sense because it is a knockout competition and at some point they have to turn on each other.
I like Ben very much. Actually I like him more as time goes on.
I think he is by far the best housemate.

he's obviously well educated and has a good social circle...yet he constantly goes round saying..'well i apologise..i didn't mean it...i'm sorry..i didn't mean it'...he's like a character hugh grant would play.......i'm waiting for him to say to rachael.....'what i mean is,in the words of the partridge family,or i believe david cassidy is..i think i love you'.....

How can he tell someone he thinks they "act" in the house and expect them not to be insulted
Well I wouldn't have been insulted. I would have smiled. He didn't say she being "acting" all the time, he said because she is an actress he wasn't always sure whether she putting on a performance for effect. She could hardly take offence when she had just previously told him that she she does indeed do that  and that she is a person of opposites - sometimes calm and sometimes dramatic over the same thing.I saw it as a perfectly friendly and harmless remark.

However, she was always going to pounce anyway, whatever Ben said. She'd already decided. I could tell by the cut of her jib.
