I am feeling pants today too... but tis my own fault.. hungover, bad bad upset tummy (I love Immodium instants... they rock!!), and a general feeling that I want to curl up in a corner and cease to be!

And I am about to get dragged down to B&Q to buy a red geranium for my dad! Crying

But... you deserve sympathy... me, I'm not worth it... waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!

I had SPD with my second baby....I feel your fluppence pain, I really do! Didn't you get given a special 'belt' that you wear under your bump to help relieve the pressure???? The are hideously unattractive, but do help....and you wear them under clothing! I was lucky enough to be sent to the maternity unit where they had a special SPD group and we were taught how to deal with it...but I found the belt helped the most....

My midwife won't refer me. Mad She says SPD is really rare and I'm still in the early stages of pregnancy so I can't have it?! I'm 26 weeks and I've had pain down there since the end of the first trimester, which from what I've read is quite normal for SPD. I'm going to the doctor on Monday and I'm going to insist on a referal, I've had to wait a fortnight for an appointment, but I'm absolutely sure it's SPD. I can't move my legs without being in agony. I can't sleep at night, I'm walking like John Wayne and I have to sit down to put trousers or knickers on. The midwife was just really patronising and in the end even suggested that it was my rheumatoid arthritis had spread to my pelvis rather than it being SPD! Confused Mad

She sounds as bad as the midwife I had who told me I was too fat to be pregnant....4 days before I miscarried Mad

Mine started at about 3mths and I had to stop working at 4mths....it ain't that rare...there were about 25 women in my SPD sroup alone. My sister has chronic RA so I also understand how painful that can be! But I really think a belt would help you anyway as it relieves the pressure on your pelvis....so would work whether it was SPD or your RA causing the pain. The belt is like a huge, bit of elastic/tubigrip and just supports weight of bump, easing the pressure on your pelvis. If your midwife is really unhelpful, ask to change to another one....they can't refuse you.
