Any good holiday recommendations? I don't really like murders/suspense nor sci fi. I don't fancy fifty shades - other than that I'm fairly open minded.
Cheers

I get bored reading a book and I wander prefer mags.
I'm also a crime/thriller person. I bought Mrs Jer Caitlin Moran's book. She and subsequently all of her pals enjoyed it.
I did a link to that one Summer because I know how much we all enjoyed it but I am not sure that Sooz has clicked on it yet.
Thank you everyone - I'm gonna have a look at all your suggestions bar one

all I can say is that it came highly recommended to me and I loved it - brought back memories of the 70s and 80s - lovely gentle story with some good laughs
Thank you all - I've downloaded Here Come the Girls and then I did a bit of searching and Have also downloaded A Place Called Freedom - Ken Follett and Only Time will Tell - Jeffrey Archer. Also seen a Penelope Lively one I fancy - I'm only going for a week though I love my Kindle but .........there's nothing like a proper book really - I want to see the cover and feel the pages.
Sorry Soozy, but every time I read this thread title it makes me laugh. Especially when I imagine Julian Clary saying it. It has a euphemistic-y/innuendo-y feel to it...
just me then...

Hi all .................I did read 'Here Come the Girls' on me hols - a nice, light hearted way to unwind on first couple of days. I then read Jeffrey Archer - Only Time Will Tell - a really good read and part of a trilogy - I'll certainly be reading the other two. I'm currently reading 'A Place Called Freedom' - Ken Follett - that's really good too. I like to learn 'bits' of history as I read - I was overall happy with my choice of holiday reads.
Thanks everyone.
I dont know if this Facebook page is of any help to you kindle/facebook users

I'm reading Wolf Hall on kindle at the moment. Its about Thomas Cromwell and the court of Henry VIII. Gripping so far.
Its not really history but a right rollicking read is Jamaica Inn by Daphne du Maurier.

I quite like the sound of that. I'm sure I read Jamaica Inn years ago. Wasn't there a TV dramatisation starring Tom Bell many moons ago?
Cheers for the kindle/fb link - I may give that a go. I do love browsing book shops - I don't do it so much since I got the Kindle. Also - I can never remember the name of the book I'm reading as I no longer have the cover to remind me - I do miss a good book cover.

I didn't see the TV version but Tom Bell would have been brilliant casting.
Amazon is great for a potter around Soozy. The ratings/ reviews are helpful and theres the "peek inside" option where you can read excerpts to see if its your type of book.
I agree with you there's nothing like an actual physical book though ...
personally I loved it - it was written about the era I grew up in so many things made sense to me
Soozy, I think the Jamaica Inn series you are thinking of may be this one:
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0089363/
which had Jane Seymour, Patrick McGoohan and Trevor Eve in.
