to go and see Paul Merton at the theatre. Don't. Don't do it. Save your money.
If I had had this advice before last Monday I would now be ÂĢ50 richer and wouldn't have had to sit through two and a half hours of inanity

he wouldn't be a choice for me - always seems a little too smug, he has a face i want to punch (but wouldn't!)

Neither ... I just sat there stony faced, although the two friends we went with fell asleep
I saw him at the Comedy Store in London yonks ago.
He was really funny.
Trevor and Simon were on the same bill.
What a night!
Tbh I wouldn't pay money to see any of today's so called comedians. There's 1 or two I like but I watch them on tv lol.
Well OP, you can't say you entering into the work of unknown quantity when it comes to Paul Merton.
I quite like him. Perhaps his style doesn't translate well to theatre though.

I'm dead jealous Scotty ... I was sooo disappointed on Monday night
Paul Merton can be funny but his shtick is pretty predictable, flights of fancy and stretching absurd scenarios to new conclusions. Sometimes it works, sometimes it's a bit tiresome.

I love him on TV and radio ... the show was truly infantile

It is. He cracks me up most of the time, but I remember bits of his TV series that were a bit kind of " ahh right, cuppa anyone ? "
Ross Noble made me laugh my bits off though .. went to see him a bit reluctantly and left a total convert!

Hubby said that while we were at the theatre ... I did mention that it might have been better if he'd thought about it before we bought the tickets
