Probably true, Fabienne; I was a stubborn ***** even then, but I'd still give it a try, I think.

Of course, that opens up the grandfather paradox; if I did manage to go back and stop myself going, I wouldn't now have the need to do so, so I wouldn't go back; so the younger me still go to the party, and then I would need to go back, and...what's a causality loop, again? Crazy

OK, if you insist...

In 1974, I went to a party as me (the real me)...and toward the end, a thug who'd been pestering me all evening found a chance to put his hand up my skirt.
He didn't like what he found there, so he and his friend dragged me outside and kicked the sh*t out of me.
I spent three days in a coma, six months recovering from my injuries, and I still, occasionally, wake up screaming.
Oh, and I failed all my exams, and lost the chance to go to university.

So, given the opportunity, I'd go back to the day before, and tell my 15-year-old self not to go, no matter how much fun she thinks it'll be.

(Well, you did ask...)

I`ve screwed up loads of times but could never say I wished I`d done things differently because the consequences would now be different ..... and the consequences have turned out ok .... and it was all meant to be. And there was no way I could possibly have done it differently because I was what I was at that moment in time and without that experience would not have changed and matured.

Tho` there is one thing - if it was possible I`d like to go back in time to ask my now dead parents questions about their lives.

hello you Valentine Starting threads now that's such an unusual occurence I just had to post! Big Grin

Well I was watching the tail end of Back to the Future III and it just occurred to me that we probably all have moments in our lives when a change of decision or direction etc would have made all the difference... not a decaf or regular moment but a.. I go this way.. I got that and it is irrevocable..

That's Saturday night TV for you

Time for a poetry clichÃĐ:

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth

Then took the other as just as fair
And having perhaps the better claim
Because it was grassy and wanted wear
Though as for that, the passing there
Had worn them really about the same

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet, knowing how way leads onto way
I doubted if I should ever come back

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence
Two roads diverged in a wood
And I took the one less traveled by
And that has made all the difference

Can I add as well:

1992 - I would tell myself to do it regardless because I would never get another chance and, even though it doesn't seem like it now (then), it would be sooooo important to me later (now).

Dare we ask, what was it??
