What to Buy and Why   BBC Two

I love these programmes which look at the claims made by brands and their products and in this case suggest better value alternatives.

Although I saw a much more detailed programme on running shoes, they did say, again that running shoes don't do what the manufacturers say and that essentially you are paying for a brand and design, not performance enhancing, injury preventing shoes. None of the major manufacturers would responds when asked to prove their claims. Pfft.

And beauty products, now we all know they are mainly a rip off.

I saw a report the other day about women are charged more for the 'pink' version of things. Stuff like shaving items and clothing are more expensive for women.

I can well believe it.

Tonight they suggested buying an own brand supermarket shampoo as there is so little difference between that and say a John Freeda. The other thing that made me go  was that stuff that you spray on your hair to prevent heat damage is actually doing the opposite!!!

Good to hear you're hunky dory!

Fine ta

Hope so. You'd be better off talking to a plant Velvet

Or coming in here to be daft as a brush - for a while

Just got a new Kindle book. Frazzled by Ruby Wax, tis about Mental Elf, de-stressing and meditation and that. Enjoying reading it this evening though I'm on the treadmill listening to bangin techno music at the same time. Which shouldn't really work but does somehow.

I'll see if I can see it somewhere Rog

Maybe its not your style Velvet [as I suspect you've been properly through the mill] but I've got loads of self help materials if you're ever interested... I could set up a stall. Ruby just made me laugh cos she's been to all the quacks going  Some of them would give snake oil salesmen a bad name. I wonder are they where she got the inspiration for writing Ab Fab

I'm deffo getting that Rog

Hang about!  You can get it for free Velvet   [ just click the "audio download" button in the following Amazon link ] Once you've downloaded it you can keep it, but remember to cancel your audible trial before the month is up, so you don't get charged a monthly subscription. [ I was already with audible but still got a free trial cos I hadn't bought anything for a while ].

Thanks a lot for that Rog        I think I'll try the libraries out first and then maybe bite the bullet on ebay.  Just been looking up the reviews of Prime and they universally scathe it so I'd be wary of their free trials plus I don't have akindle. Think I'd prefer a hard copy having never read an ebook or listened to an audio one

Nae probs Velvet. Sure its basically just Mindfulness, and that's everywhere at the minute. There are just as good materials online, for nothing. Don't mind me, trying to push stuff on you  [ In truth, I'm a self help hoarder   ...bought a whole hape o' stuff and never looked at it yet ]

I'd be better off getting a wee cat or dog   only they're not allowed in this building.

Vidal Sassoon hair dryers made by an American conglomerate who bought the VS name to add some cache to their products   I wonder how many people buy the dryers because of the name?

Nicky Clarke hair dryer that says it contains diamonds, well, they smashed one to pieces and could not find any.
