Jade could never match up to her...Shilpa was a real star who earned her stripes....and well Jade didn't.

Jade and her mates were bang out of order in the house. I only forgave her behaviour - just, when she got really ill.

I still cannot stand Jo and Danielle! Mad

Thats what im saying she wasnt known in the uk n i will never forget her n jermaine face when jade came in the house, stuck up both of them n dont get me started on leo

Just because she wasn't known to the white middleclass, doesn't mean she wasn't known to a large percentage of Britian.

However, I am not going to argue the point. Jade was known in the UK for being on a reality programme. The rest of the world had no idea who she was (or cared, for that matter).

I do remember that you were in the minority on the forum in your sdupport of Jade, and I do give you respect and credit for that.

Well she did, and she said sorry. Or do you think she just did that to please the public?

Jermaine and Shilpa had no idea who Jade was (and rightly so!)....they didn't look at her in any way.

It was Jade's big gob and stinky attitude that got her in trouble. Simple as.

No sorry they looked down on her before she came in the house,

Perhaps that is your perception? With all the others in the house, it was more of "who the hell is that?"

They had no idea who she was. Simples.

I though Jade and Shilpa were equally awful on CBB.

With regard to Shilpa’s profile in the UK, well she had none - she was more or less an unknown on CBB (Bollywood movies don’t have a global appeal), I couldn’t speak of her ‘talent’ because I haven’t seen a single movie she’s done.
My abiding memory of Shilpa was the nose in the air, proud proclamation that her servants would lick the ground if she ordered them to, on reflection she actually summed up all that (IMO) sucks about India.

No she looked down on Shilpa deliberately saying her name wrong and with the do they wash do you live in a hut and calling her princess after finding out she had about the same amount of money as the goodies like a despicable cow that she was.

It all came to a head during Shilpa-gate. Undoubtably, I will get slammed, but that CBB had the biggest celebs (for the most part) of ANY celeb BB and they ruined it by putting in the Goody clan. I'm not speaking ill of the dead, but with the A-list celebs they had, why put in Z listers?

Why are we again arguing over Jade and Shilpa?...

Suzy-Q's original question was why did Channel 4 put 'Stars' in with the Goody Clan....

Good idea,I am banned anyway but I am sorry that I did register in the first place.
Its understandable but I think they genuinely think this is breathing new life into their show and a boycott is the best option IMO.

I'm sure she will have had with the many, many Bollywood fans particularly from the Asian community.

I’m talking about her profile in the UK, she had none. I doubt she had featured in ANY mainstream media at all.

What is YOUR opinion of mainstream media? White, middle class?

More people, world wide, had probably heard of Shilpa Shetty than Jade Goody.

Well until now I thought mainstream media (in this case, in the UK) was a relatively easy concept to understand Big Grin

OK here’s what you need to do - next time you’re in Tesco have a wee look for the big sign which says ‘books and magazines’, what you’ll find there is known as mainstream media – i.e. mass circulation newspapers and magazines. There are also TV and radio channels (what you’re looking out for is names such as BBC, ITV and Sky); these also come under the umbrella of mainstream media (in summation, anything which has been expressly designed to appeal to a large audience) Smiler

Hear Hear Queenie. Clapping

Neither was she 'stuck-up'. She was merely well mannered, erudite and eloquent which obviously didn't sit well with others!

Oh, gee. I didn't realise that the world was based on what's available in Tesco. I happen to view the world in a more global way.

Still not quite getting it, eh. Tesco just happens to be one outlet where examples of mainstream media can be found, and YOU asked ME what my ‘opinion’ of mainstream media in the UK was - it's not about ‘opinion’, it’s a term which is widely used to denote.
