Does he really and truly deserve such a crap life (and storyline) ? It gets a bit boring IMO - he's been a good Dad - let him have a happy ending

Everytime I start to like Ian he does something that I want to punch him for. He never seems to be able to realise when he has a good thing (like Jane!) and ends up ruining it with his penny pinching and whatnot!
I know what you mean Ells but ........................i can't help feeling sorry for him.
