The last Screeburn column I saw was on 13th June. He did mention BB.

How many hundreds of threads were there about Jade dying? At least MJ was a global sensation.

It's just ridiculous. He did a piece on the media hysteria over Jade's death and showed the way the media has developed the strategy since the hysteria over Diana's death. I find the whole thing ghoulish and very uncomfortable. But then I find the whole culture of celeb magazines generally ghoulish and uncomfortable.

Err, I didn't deny he was a legend. I said that his death was sad and newsworthy. Just not worthy of the kind of media saturation that we will now be bombarded with. I think that there are very few people who's death is worthy of the sort of saturated coverage the media insist on giving us now tbh.

I watched it, someone posted to watch on here, very good programme will have to look out for it in future.

I agree, he's barely been dead 24 hrs. Why shouldn't that dominate the news coverage today. It will soon calm down.

I'm not suggesting the story shouldn't be covered, or even given prominence, but I'm not sure what it achieves to keep wheeling out Uri Geller and other Z listers (Mark Lester from Oliver anyone?!) to give us their opinion on his death. The media don't know what to do with the story, one the one hand he was a musical legend, on the other hand he was a tabloid oddbod that, lets be honest, had a pretty questionable lifestyle towards the end. I think it's terribly sad that he's died. I don't believe he could have been a happy man. But I watched the news earlier where they were stopping kids in the street and asking them how they felt about his death. Most of the people wouldn't even have been born when he was at his peak. By all means cover the story. By all means pay tribute to the man and his music. By all means raise the questions of his life. But a bit more thought and moderation should go into how that's done. I don't see why we need the opinions of nobodies to validate how we feel about Michael Jackson's life or death. The top four headlines on Teletex at the moment are about MJ, depite having a separate special. The second story is about how upset Serena Williams is about it all. The killing of a two year old is the fifth headline. No mention of the situation in Iran. I understand that many, (including myself to be fair) will feel that it is justified to give the MJ story prominence, but how in the name of all that is holy does Serena Williams' grief take precedent over a two year old's murder?
