I have no doubt the others thought that about her...whether they said it or not I dont know. I also think HE thought that about her and he said it to keep her on his side. I'm not sure whether he actually would remember what he said or why he was saying it the next day.
So I reckon he would actually say 'I cant remember I was pissed'
