That's a lovely thing for you to do Cinds.....not many people would.

My mate moved in with us for a few weeks when we were teens, it was great craic til she threw up one night UNDER my bed!  No idea how she managed to do that but I ended up getting her dressed (it was the middle of the night) and leaving her at her brothers house  it was all good though coz she went back home after that

Good Luck Cinds, like others have said it's a big thing to do and so very kind and caring.

I wouldn't  worry about social services etc too much just yet though. It could just be the dads grieving in a very selfish way and you never know he may sort himself out given a little time.... (I'm assuming he's not always been an idiot there of course)

Hope it all goes ok for you Cinds, be prepared for the boys to fall out with each other too! i predict in the net month you will see this happen.

Thank you all, but the lovely words weren't necessary, I was just a bit shell shocked when I posted this thread, it's not every day you acquire an extra teenager

He's a nice kid, and he deserves a chance, which he won't get if he stays (using the term stays very loosely) with his Dad.  His life recently has been a case of finding out where his dad is getting drunk and going and dossing on the floor wherever that is.

You are the new Brad and Angelina! Can I see a photo before you sign any papers...giving birth to ugly kids if fine but adopting one and letting him sleep in my room is a no no!

Hope all goes ok...make sure you do a criminal records check first...he might be using your spare room to store his stolen goods! U know what the kidz are like these days

Seriously though you are a
