In case you are wondering where it went, I removed a thread today.

Here's my last post on the thread, however, which should give you an indication of why it was removed.

"Hey, you guys?

Not all of you are participating in what could be classed as bullying behavior, but this isn't nice.  I'm sorry, but NONE of you has proof that any poster here is anyone other than who they say they are, and it's not nice to say the things that have been said. It's not welcoming, either, and as hoochie says above, it's not respectful. How would you like to log on and read this about yourself?"

I hear people talk about how there should be new members, and why is the board so quiet, etc. Maybe you should ask yourself if you WANT new members. You don't act respectfully to each other, you accuse each other with some regularity of being someone else from before, and you are not a very welcoming group when you behave that way.

Try taking people at face value for a change. If you don't want to accept new people DON'T POST WITH THEM.  If you are going to insist on finger pointing and such, your time here is going to be short.

I hope that's clear.

At last !!!

No one has a chance of being a new member here.. yes a lot are 'old members', then  recreate themselves and behave, some don't.. they then have a 'time out' and can 'come back' and if it's a big time out they make up a new name that we can see through.

That thread thou was bullying for 1 or maybe 2 peeps on here and it was out of order, if reincarnated people annoy you.. STOP posting in the thread, its only you that gets wound up. !!

But the point about newbies being welcomed (or not) is a good one.

Exactly . . live and let live, we don't need to 'out' people.. I'm sure Lori 'n' team can spot those that come back and back and back after a ban and a ban and a ban !!!!!

Fair enough, Lori.

But equally, a poster who repeatedly claims to be 'new' should not feel as if they have a right to parade up and down the forum protesting vociferously about other posters posting happily together, by "pointing the finger" accusing and berating respectable posters of being 'cliques', and then having the audacity to enter the said 'cliquey' thread with a 'woe is me' blue-faced emoticon.(sp) THEN boasts how they haven't been banned.

Accommodating this kind of behaviour also sends out the wrong message, IMO.

And, FMs should not be made to feel coerced into 'talking' to a poster who behaves like an eternal pain in the proverbial. Yes, of course we can ignore anyone we choose not to converse with......but plenty have been doing that, only to be accused of what's already been mentioned.

Yep you're right but I do think that Sniper also has a point. I tend to deal with it by being friendly and chatting with any 'newbie' the same as I do with everyone else.

But if any newbie then starts pulling the same behaviour that we've seen time and time again then, if I can be bothered, I pull them up in the thread concerned.

From what I have seen the vast majority of fms here (whether they 'know' or think they know who a newbie was) tend to do the same.

Not everyone,  granted, but most people

You seem to be talking about 'one person'  that always come across as 'new' but at least he  'announces ' it but what about the other people that ALWAYS  come back as NEW and we know who there are.. ?? but they get banned and allowed to come back ??

Peeps on here should stop 'outing' one  person (annoying or not, we all don't go back to CH4) but allow all the other people that reincarnate themselves  (that we know who they are) and say nothing ?

Oh well , each to their own !!!

But the thing is.. it's only 'one person' that gets outed out all the time from the same style posting that they supposedly do... but we know there is at least 4 more on here that does a 'new name' and people post with them knowing who they are... but not that 'one' person.... !!!!

Oh well swings and roundabouts.. whatever goes... I'm sure Lori and team are on top of IP addresses....

I don't care WHO it is. If you don't have ROCK SOLID proof that that person has been here before DON'T DO IT.  For the record? ROCK SOLID means they've said in a post who they used to be. I don't wanna hear about posting styles, or how someone didn't deny that they were x. If they posted, "I used to be x", hit the report button ON THAT POST and then walk away.

FYI, we can't always spot people, and them's the breaks. Deal with it. Just remember, when you moderate YOUR own community, you can do whatever you want. In THIS community, stop with that stuff.

Unfortunately I didn't, but I chose to keep out of it anyway.
I did however see and agreed-with the post by Hoochie that Lori quotes, and I agree with Lori on her general points.

My rule of thumb on forums in general: if you see an iffy post, either report it or ignore it.

Simples.

I see......so when some of us 'out' this one person, it's merely 'supposition' on our half,

but according to your 'royal we' everyone knows at least 4 or more pseudo posters on here who keep coming back?

I can confirm my complete ignorance in knowing who these '4 or more' you're alluding to, am afraid. Furthermore, if you REALLY had faith in Lori and team being on top of IP addresses etc how the HELL do these 'supposedly' 4 or more posters keep coming 'back and back and back after ban and a ban and a ban'?

TBF, I haven't mentioned anything about 'posting styles' in this particular thread.

However, the poster's behaviour was emphasized, and the trend is evident within the 'Archive' threads.....

Like every member of this forum, I've agreed to comply with the rules when I signed up, however, I'm not vying for a 'position' of favouritism with forum moderators through insincere grovelling for fear of being banned, nor do I need reminding who's 'in charge'. I don't succumb to intimidation very well, nor will I keep schtum when I need to vent my views - I'm in charge of that department.

So, if I'm banned for articulating my views (Note: without the profanities) then I guess I signed away my very basic right to freedom of speech.

Sniper

what it boils down to is that members  on a  forum can't live with the thought that another member ( or ex member) logs out of here and then hugs themselves with glee that they ' got one over on  the rest of  you'

and so that  inability to let the banned hug themselves and possibly gloat, is when they are driven to 'out' another poster.

tbh, i dunno which is the more pathetic...
