I honestly have no idea what they are going to do next Slim, I can lay money whatever it is, it will wrong or too late.

Friends of mine were in Majorca last week, personally I thought they bonkers for going, although after hearing the steps being taken in Spain they felt safer there than here. Masks are still mandatory in public places, bars and restaurants until you are seated, social distancing still working

The headmaster of my grandchildren's school (1100) pupils just sent letters out stating that masks in school are now mandatory from tomorrow, why this was changed is beyond me. I think we now have one of the highest infection rates in the country...world beating my foot. We certainly are world beating at showing the world what how incompetent we are with peoples lives

Very sensible imo Slim

I think it’s being offered to everyone over 50 Renton , but I might be wrong .

I don't think I'm going to be included on the front line workers list so I'll have to argue my case to get a jab.

If I become ill then what happens to me Mum - as her only carer she would have to go into a home and that would cost all involved a small fortune. Surely it's common sense to include people like me

Carers are included Saint

You are eligible for both a flu vaccine and a coronavirus booster if you are: an adult aged 50 and over. an adult carer, unpaid carer or a young carer aged 16 years or over. aged 16 and over and a household contact of someone who is severely immunosuppressed.

Thanx for that and so it should be

I've been hearing a lot of good things recently about the Covid response in Spain. They've been much more cautious than the UK in opening up, and it's paying off. They're also ahead of us in terms of %age population vaccinated...

I was told that the plan is for my parents to have the booster jab at the same time as their flu jab - to the extent that the flu jab could be delayed to make it possible. Whether that degree of synchronization is really possible in practise, or they just get the shots as they become available, remains to be seen...

As for me personally: because of the 6 month gap EFFT refers to, I won't be eligible for a booster until November - and it's still possible I may not be offered one at all - so a tie-in's unlikely. I always get the flu jab, and TBH I'm starting to get a little nervous about waiting too long for it this year as possible events in October/November could result in me missing the boat. I've got a flu jab booked for 3rd week in October, but if the opportunity to get it done earlier comes up, I'll take it...

...And what do you know: I received a text from my medical practise this afternoon (Tuesday) offering me a flu jab on Saturday, so I'm going to take that.   Interestingly, it's being done at the same temporary location they've been using for mass Covid vaccination.

The October booking was done through my work: I'll cancel it so a colleague who - unlike me - doesn't qualify for free flu vaccinations can use it, and I'll get an earlier appointment instead. Win-win.

Michael Flynn is now pushing a conspiracy that Covid vaccines will be placed in salad dressings

Donald Trump’s former National Security Adviser is pushing a new conspiracy theory that the Covid-19 vaccine will be placed in salad dressings.
Michael Flynn, who is a a high-profile supporter of the QAnon conspiracy theory, raised the bizarre idea on a right-wing Internet show.

“Somebody sent me a thing this morning where they’re talking about putting the vaccine in salad dressing,” said Flynn.
“Have you seen this? I mean it’s — and I’m thinking to myself, this is the Bizarro World, right? This is definitely the Bizarro World ... these people are seriously thinking about how to impose their will on us in our society, and it has to stop.”

Fact checker Mike Rothschild took to Twitter to explain that Mr Flynn was actually talking about a pilot study that is looking at placing mRNA vaccines in produce, rather than the current vaccines, which require deep freeze storage.

Just shows how dangerously silly mis-information can be.

What a plonker ! It would be hilarious , if it wasn’t so serious, eh  !

For goodness sake! Why salad dressings of all things? I'm sure there are other things that are eaten by a grater proportion of people.  And how would you regulate the dosage that each person got?

It's all very well for opposition parties and other bodies to be up in arms about the lack of, or withdrawal of, drop in vaccine centres, but have they considered how these places will be staffed and how that might affect staffing levels at hospitals and GP surgeries?

Drop in centres take staff AWAY from hospitals and clinics, whilst an appointment system has  much less of a drain on hospital and clinic staff.

Staff for these drop-in centres don't just appear out of the blue!

Seems tens of thousands of people have been given faulty PCR results ….no wonder this bliddy disease is still spreading so rapidly .

Big concerns in the Southwest, which was (I believe) the main area served by the Testing Centre in question. Infection rates have been falling there with some of the lowest rates in the country, but the worry now is that those figures are due to thousands of false-negative results, and infections are in fact rising unchecked.

A big-up to BBC Local News, though: despite official denials, they've been investigating this for over a week after being contacted by many viewers who thought they'd been misdiagnosed.

Exactly Eugene ….it’s no wonder the figures keep rising if they can’t even get a handle on the testing ….

Had the booster and flu jab on Friday. Was fine with first two vaccines and don’t know if it was because of the combination but it knocked me for six! Temp over 102.

While we were waiting in the pharmacy someone came in asking for tests and was told there were none anywhere that they knew of and back order was going to take weeks not days.

Yikes Roxan that sounds dreadful....hope you are feeling much better, by posting I'm sure you do
At least now you are safer than you were by having your vaccines

Over here they gave the second shot three weeks after the first not three months, so I was due for the booster. Got Pfizer all three times, my brother tells me you are mixing the jabs over there.

Oh I see …yes , I’ve had Pfizer for the first two shots …think they are giving either Pfizer or Moderna for the boosters .

Do you know what flu jab you got, Roxan? Here in the UK, the over-65s are being given a different shot from everyone-else, and apparently it's much stronger. I spoke to my parents today: they got the double-shot a week ago, but neither had any problems. However my cousin also got the stronger flu jab as part of a double-dose, and she was feeling the effects for a week afterwards. She said it was the only time she's ever had a strong reaction to a vaccine.

Bath and North East Somerset (BANES) has the highest rate in the UK (not just England), and the five biggest week-on-week increases are all in the Somerset/Gloucestershire/Wiltshire area...

This is what the rest of Europe looks like compared to us, social distancing and masks are in use. I heard two separate Tory MP's say last week, Covid is behind us.

And it's not even the death numbers that are the main thing either. It's the numbers of Covid patients that are being hospitalised (even though they are not as sick as earlier cases) and so non-Covid cases are being pushed back again.

They haven't learnt a thing, have they?

The sooner you bring in measures to reduce/prevent infections, the shorter an outbreak will last and the less damage it will do.

It's really isn't rocket science.
