So, European Commision want to hold the world to ransom......and kill a few more thousands in the process!

Go figure!....they're wasting by allowing vaccines to go unused and yet blasting the company for not supplying their order

Whether you were for or against Brexit...that sh*t is just stupid!...these people need to get real ffs!

Totally agree Slim .....can’t believe the EU  are playing politics with Covid

Baz

And overall rates are actually lower than you'd normally expect in the general population...

That is also true...I think Macron,Merkel and the Commission will have a lot to answer for🤬

And now...... aren't weall shocked to 'learn' this.....?

Travel corridors linked to higher rates of Covid spread, study shows

We would never have thought it would we

All overseas travel should not be allowed until this virus is under control worldwide imo...

Honestly , I don’t think some of these people have any common sense at all ....it was blatantly obvious how risky they darn well were !

I don't really know enough about the Sturgeon/Salmond thing to have an opinion, but if Sturgeon IS ousted then I fear for Scotland's Covid response. W0uld it just mean a new SNP FM, or would it spark an earlier than currently expected election. And if said election is not won by the SNP then I fear that our response will descend into the shambles that Boris has heaped upon England, because Scottish Labour and Scottish Conservaties  are the same parties that are in Westminster.

I’ve followed the inquiry thing , and do think she was definitely *economical with the truth* ...but I can’t comment on the effect on Scottish politics .

It would be just Sturgeon that would be replaced, as it was the party that won, not her....I think

I think so too....but I'm not au fait with Scottish politics either

It's so depressing. You try and keep abreast of what your current restrictions are and you are constantly faced with moanings and wailings about how restrictive the restrictions are and multitudes of people trying to find ways to get AROUND the restrictions. And every time you try and check it's wading through all this garbage, again and again and again!

Don't stress yourself out EFFT......there will always be those who will go against the majority.
I've been seeing on the news all the demonstrations around the country today....shameful display....and sorry to see from the footage that most of them were women ....probably not the case but either way....shocking ignorance

Apparently there are now people trying to queue jump in case there are shortages of vaccine  .....some genuinely believe they are key workers , some not ....

Latest headline:-

Ministers 'confident' of second jab within 12 weeks!

Is this not likely to make people panic? If they're 'confident' (in quotation marks) does this not suggest to people that their is a question mark over whether or not all second jabs WILL be delivered within the 12 weeks?

Yes, I am just hoping on this occasion they are right EFFT .

Apologies if any FMs have seen this before. I toyed with the idea of posting it on the "Interesting stuff from around the web" thread, but in the end felt it was more appropriate here...

Is that accredited to anyone Eugene?  The Eye?

No; sorry Velvet. As is typical of pieces on the interweb, I'm not even sure how old it is (I just saw it today, but I got the feeling it had been "doing-the-rounds" for a while). It doesn't feel like the Eye's style to me.

[Edit]

Just did a quick search, and it looks like it originates from a Twitter thread dating back to June last year. It went viral pretty quickly (someone on the thread immediately went and copied it to Facebook), so I'm guessing some newspaper or magazine saw it, typed it up properly and published it. See:

India's death toll has now surpassed 200,000...people are dying on the streets
It's hard to fathom that we have had a vaccine for nearly six months and yet we still do not have the ability to produce enough viles to go round.

Just listened to an Indian doctor interviewed on C4. He was asked about the Indian government refusing help from the UN, and he replied that he wasn't aware of that development because his wife was infected and he'd spent the day trying to get her admitted to hospital! Krishnan Guru-Murthy initially seemed to be in shock at that, but then admitted that a lot of Indian doctors he'd interviewed had said the same thing...

Do you think it's because they are too busy trying to give oxygen to their patients to be aware of the full picture Eugene?
That's if they have any oxygen......

India makes the vaccine Slim

That's the irony.

I know they have stopped shipments to us ...but we make it too, as well as others in Europe
We should make more! Collectively...a global effort
Like you said...until we address everywhere then we are all stuffed.

That was essentially the takeaway, Slim.

IIRC, the doctor being interviewed was a chief hospital advisor, and he was apologising because he himself thought he should have been up-to-date on the latest news. Guru-Murthy said at the start that the reason they were interviewing this doctor was because the government's international spokesman who they normally talk to wasn't available because his own mother was in intensive care...

No surprises here, but.........the TRAVEL INDUSTRY says that the English 'green list' for quarantineless travel is 'too cautious'!

If they'd had their way things here would likely be as bad as they currently are in India!

I know it's all about money...but surely someone up there has to have a bit of common sense...
Certain Joe public are as much to blame for actually travelling...mainly just for a bit of sun

And the irony Is, that when we reach the mythical sunlit uplands the travel and airline industries will bounce back, but no way have we reached anywhere near that yet

and if we're not careful, we'll be right back where we started ..with new strains that aren't beaten down by our vaccines
