Put them away somewhere so they can infect each other.....without access to treatment and see how far their 'rights'...get them

Does this Westminster bunch think we're ALL stupid?????

Witty says there's no evidence that the protection given by the first dose of the vaccine wanes if the second dose is delayed beyond the 3 weeks initially announced. But how can he say that when we haven't had the vaccine for long enough to get ANY evidence - good or bad?!

Mum got her first jab today

What a ruddy nightmare of organised mess - we had to queue outside in the rain then we had to sit with loads of other people, the place was packed. I even said if there was a place to go to catch the virus then the vaccine centre was it!!

We had to go through the Q&A system before the jab and just our luck, we got the class clown to do ours. Y'know the bloke who floats through his job like it's not serious and we can just make light of any situation (probably cos he's out of his depth) - that was him. He even had to be prompted to do stuff by another nurse! I got very annoyed (hope it didn't show) because this 'is' serious and we need people to be reliable and professional - he wasn't.

Anyhoo - I wasn't offered a jab, despite being a 'carer' because I hadn't been referred by my GP and as I need to call them tomorrow anyway, I will ask them when my likely jab date will be.

For some reason i'm terrified something might happen to my Mum, i've read some scare stories of unexplained deaths after having the jab - wish all this was gone - i'm fed up of being scared all the time

Saint

Scare stories is what they are Sainty. My sister and several of her friends have had their first jabs within the last two weeks.. They are of a certain age and all have severe underlying health problems. They seem to be okay 👍

My sister said she could ‘knock a house down” after her jab, which is much more than she can usual do

I know it’s different for everyone and depends on the person and their underlying symptoms. I really do hope your mum will be okay, my friend

Renton , I’m sorry you had such a bad experience yesterday. But like Moonie says , I’m sure your mum will be ok. I’m having mine tomorrow , and I totally understand where you are coming from .....I’ve not slept for the last two nights ....first of all I am scared stiff about being among people again ( I’ve not been further than the back garden since last August ....and then I only went round the block a couple of times) , then , conversely, worrying in case something stops me going! But the bottom line is  that these vaccinations are the only way we stand any chance , no matter how slight , of getting back to anything like normal....they’ve got to be done .  So, hang in there Renton ....you did the right thing taking your mum ....and I hope you can get your carers jab soon.

Baz

Sorry you had a bad experience Renton,I had mine today and everything went like clockwork. I went to the GP surgery not a hub,so perhaps that made a big difference, who knows?

Checks were carried out before I went,so that eliminated that factor.....it was date of birth by the nurse then jab then wait 15 mins and go home....you must have been very unlucky❤️

Kaytee

Thanx for the comments

Well - my Mum didn't feel the jab at all - there's no mark on her arm either (nothing) - I didn't watch as i'm terrified of needles and now we're wondering if she even got the jab at all.

All these worried thoughts go through your head ... are there enough doses to go round and if not are they faking jabs?

Truly worrying - again

Saint

I’ve had my jab this afternoon ....the Pfizer one ....and I have to say it was well organised. I .had to wait 15 minutes afterwards , but that was all . Got to have second dose in 12 weeks ....they gave me a  reminder slip, but said not to worry cos it’s on my records and I will get called when the time comes .

Baz

Update - my Mum had symptoms typical of the jab - lots of fatigue the following day and a big headache throughout the night.

And we found a small mark where she said the needle went in - phew!!

Cheers for the feedback and concern - this place truly is a Godsend x

Saint

Glad you are feeling a bit better about it all now Renton .But I totally agree , this place....and the people that inhabit it ...... is an absolute godsend ....I cannot imagine what my last three years would have been without it .

PM says he's 'optimistic' about summer holidays this year.

Bet it won't be long before people are complaining about cancelled holidays.......but...but...but...........Boris SAID we could go on holiday this year!!!!

I think anyone who books a holiday before things are more settled deserves everything they get !

So apart from travelling all the way through England and half of Scotland to get to the plant in Livingston, West Lothian, he then travels to Glasgow, Greater Glasgow and Clyde (via Lanarkshire). Two distinct council areas where he spent a considerable amount of time. Apparently he had a great time!

But we, the people who live here, can't even go out of our own houses (more or less) let alone to our neighbouring council areas!

During Prime Minister's Questions, the SNP's Westminster leader Ian Blackford said the visit was "utterly, utterly reckless" and an "absolutely shocking error of judgment".

He also accused Mr Johnson of putting "politics before public health".

Mr Blackford added: "What an absolute shambles, that he's gone to a plant where there was a Covid outbreak.

"The Daily Record story is very clear, the PM and his advisers knew there was a serious Covid outbreak at this plant, they knew the visit posed a risk but he made a deliberate choice, they made the irresponsible choice."

I have to agree EFFT ....he shouldn’t be travelling at all ....at least not unless it was an emergency ......very reckless .....and what’s good for the goose should be good for the gander !

Baz

Was reported on the North East news that 2 cases of the new variant virus from S Africa were found in Scarborough!!

Due to "international travel" - so people came into the UK with the virus - no restrictions

However....Blackford is mouthing off in the commons every blinking week....and. Sturgeon travels from Glasgow to Edinburgh every day......so no point in getting at Boris for what they’re doing themselves....btw I’m not very political to start with but there’s a lot of hypocrisy about all round

Who knows Machel, the way things are going!

A: Country X is doing better than country Y, with rolling out the vaccine.

B: Well yes, but its not a competition.

A: I know, I know, but my country's doing better than your country!

I have tried so hard to stay out of anything political on here but I can’t let this one go.

There is a race and it’s a race to get as many people in the vulnerable groups vaccinated as quickly as possible and Scotland is bringing up the coo’s tail (for non Scots, that means coming last).

Fluffs, we both know if Scotland had been ahead of the other UK nations in the vaccine roll out, Sturgeon would have been on tv, crowing and gloating that Scotland were better than England. It is disingenuous to suggest anything else.

Scotland’s handling of the vaccine roll out has been dire. As someone in the “clinically extremely vulnerable” and “very high risk” group, I have had several texts from Scot.gov telling me I will receive a letter with an appointment for my vaccination / will have my first vaccination by mid February / will have received a letter giving me an appointment for my vaccination by now but, guess what, they have failed on all counts. In addition, people within my GP practice in Group 5/6 are being vaccinated ahead of those in Group 4 because some idiot decided that the nearby hub should start on Group 5 before they have completed Group 4.

It has been an unmitigated disaster and Sturgeon should hang her head in shame!

A race (against the virus) yes, but not a competition. Political crowing by whomsoever should have nothing to do with it. It is, first and foremost, a medical emergency and politics should have nothing, or very little, to do with it.

Of course it’s a race against the virus but you know as well as I do that, had Scotland been leading the way on vaccinations, Sturgeon would have been crowing and gloating as she always does. Her “We’re better than England” mantra is legendary.
The SNP must be tearing their hair out that they can’t put the blame for their incompetence on the vaccination roll out on “the Westminster Government”.

Sturgeon should be concentrating on dealing with the pandemic instead of trying to drum up support for a second independence referendum - the first was the most divisive thing ever to happen to my country in my lifetime.

For someone who talks about democracy, Sturgeon simply dismisses the democratic vote of the Scottish people in the last referendum - seems she only likes democracy when it suits her and she gets the result she wants.

Four air passengers have each been fined £10,000 for failing to declare they had travelled from a "red-list" country, West Midlands Police has said.

So, in order to try and avoid £1750 cost, they are prepared to run the risk of a £10,000 fine, or worse.

Yes

I did hear some very worrying information yesterday ....that about a third of home care staff hadn’t taken the vaccination ! Given the frailty of the people they look after ....imo ...unless there was a genuine  medical reason .....it should be No Jab. No Job ! And the same goes for anyone working in the *caring* professions !

Can't understand why ANYONE, especially in a caring profession, wouldn't want the vaccine. Unless, as you say, there was a genuine medical reason for not taking it.

Exactly EFFT ....I don’t know how reliable the figures in the news clip were .... but even so there must be some truth in it . ...which I find shocking ! In fact I’ve just checked it out again and apparently it was Matt Hancock that said it ...not sure if that makes it more, or less , accurate .

So either a third of 'care' workers are uncaring, or have underlying health problems!

I needed to edit cos it’s not care home staff ....it’s social homecare staff ....although I’m not sure that makes it any better !
