I think it is clear to me that the modest relaxation for Xmas Day was a huge mistake by the government. Too many members of the public cannot be trusted to do the right thing.

Totally agree EC ....and everything has been done too slowly ....and with not enough notice taken of the scientific advice !

Christmas may only be “one day” but it was something I was really looking forward to and is now the only Christmas in nearly 40 years that I have woken up Christmas morning with no children or grandchildren and that was hard to take
We normally love our Christmas Day,but it made sense to not mix, we were very upset when we heard it was cancelled but in the end it was done for our own safety and in the end that’s what matters❤️
Over 1,000 people a day are dying just now - and this Westminster government are playing GOD with this vaccine and people's lives. How are they being allowed?
Jason Leitch agreed with the decision on Friday
I'm with you - it's all heading towards a monumental eff up.
Initial vaccines are a red herring anyway - there's no immunity and no immunity from spread.

We love Christmas, as a family we are very close, we did meet for lunch and for that I am grateful, we have taken covid seriously and followed all the guidelines, I am frightened for my mental health but continue to follow guidelines, I just wish we could return to normality which to me is spending time with family

Glad you at least managed to meet for lunch Machel.

Call from GP's today offering my Mum her jab on Saturday at 1pm.
Has anyone else had the jab yet? (Sorry i haven't read back if it's already been mentioned by someone)

Hi Renton Thats great news ....yes , I know two people who have had the jab , with no side effects ,except for a bit of a sore arm .
I think you still have to very careful until she gets the second jab though Renton.....although it’s certainly a step in the right direction .
@Baz Yes we are taking things very seriously
They asked if my Mum was on Wafarin and if so to take her book - she's on Rivaroxaban. Apparently one person has died from a haemorrhage 3 weeks after their jab in USA - so I'm terrified about side effects for people on blood thinners

Awwww I’m sure it will be ok Renton.....there must be thousands of over 80s on warfarin ....and let’s face it , there isn’t really any choice if we are to ever get back to normal
@Baz it's really scaring me - it's terrible to live in fear but you're right, so many on Warfarin must have had the jab already.

Not personally, but several of my relatives have. Both my parents got their first jab just before the New Year, and my cousin before them (she works for the NHS, and qualified to be one of the first vaccinated because of her age).
For the record: my Mum suffered from a short bout of nausea afterwards, and my cousin briefly (and I mean briefly - we're talking minutes here) had a high temperature. Both are known side-effects of the Pfizer vaccine, but we can't be certain it was the actual cause in either case, and neither incident was serious.
I haven't as yet heard when any of them will receive a second dose.
Mr KT....got his vaccine call up today...gets jabbed on Friday👍
Taking my mum tomorrow 😀
Had mine on Saturday, didn't feel a thing and no side effects, nothing actually, not even a sore arm. I was on the family reserve list and spare vaccines can be given when the daily list is finished rather than waste vials. Actually our area is doing extremely well in speeding through them, the only hold-ups have been the government withholding the second jab...that is going to be well behind, deliveries of the second jab was cancelled on Monday

For me the scariest thing is the potential 12 week gap instead of a three week gap between jabs. Where is the real hard evidence to say that in the nine weeks extra between jabs, that the effect of the first jab WON'T diminish or fall away completely?
It's join the dots and win a prize re our vaccine policy.
I might be the first immigrant to hit Calais from Dover.
Nobody knows how long one dose lasts for and this talk of immunity needs pulled up.

I agree Velvet ......I think people might stop taking precautions too soon ....especially with all these different variants popping up all over the place , and no confirmation that the jab will cover them all .
And I've just read that lots of 50+'s are apparently booking several UK holidays for this summer, buoyed up by false confidence that we'll all be OK because of the vaccine.
I, on the other hand, have no confidence that we won't still have some travel restrictions in place this summer!

We'll be exactly where we are right now come Summer. Nothing's surer.

True, but I didn't want to be too pessimistic.

Well, I don't agree with how Dame got her jab. Bit underhand.
And she is one of the LAST people I'll fall out with on here. I think it was unethical.
Goes against who you know. Sorry Dame

I'm sorry you feel like that Velvet, I did not take anyone's place, I was in the right age group that they were vaccinating, because some vials have more than they should have in and they have spares, even volunteer car park attendants have had them rather than waste it ...I would never queue-jump, you obviously don't know me as well as you think you do!
It's not a question of places.
Gen up, you've gotta be 60 odd. Health problems?
You feckin know you took advantage and so do I.
Bin your socialism. I'll stick with Pengy.
If you've had a jab explain to me why a 95 year old has heard feck all.
I await your response. Naw, you never queue jumped.
I seriously can't believe you
I'm not going to argue, but you're wrong...I didn't queue-jump, my area are vaccinating 60's plus, I got mine a few days early because I was willing to go at the last minute, my sister-in-law went today, she's in the same age group as me only slightly older. You know what, I couldn't care less if you believe me or not Velvet If your mums not had hers it's not my fault, if she lived here she would have....

You've just swore.
Feckin bellend.
I'd revisit and edit
Velvet ... I don’t pass this way often, so if you want to fall out with someone you can fall out with me ...
Dame cannot possibly be held responsible for the fact that a 95 year old that you might know has not had their jab. If we waited for this government to organise things by age and need I think we might all be sat here for the next few years, let’s face it, their track record is not good. In fact it is so rubbish that I am now proudly wearing a F*** The Tories necklace that my daughter sent me today ... imagine the ladiezzz in Waitrose when I shop next week!
i’m not comfortable with you calling out Dame like this. (1) she has explained how she managed to have the jab. Christ, I’d rather an oikish 18 year old idiot has the leftover jab rather than it going to waste (2) don’t want to burst your bubble about Dame, but she is 60 odd, and (3) her health is not any of our business.
Don’t fall for this Tory PR exercise, which is to divide us all and blame us for their failings ... let’s all stick together and skip around those sunny uplands together later in the year.
And ... I hope you are well velvet xxx
Dame's a hypocrite. She shortcutted the jab because she knows someone.
Tell me if that's false Rexi.

Nope. I’m outa here velvet. Dame’s big enough to fight her corner, she doesn’t need me. I just wanted to state my opinion, which I have done.
stay safe x
