Yes, but Scotland already has a tier 4 - which is acctually our 5th tier. So although my area is tier 3, it is our 4th tier.

Boris is not fully answering the questions, but the questions are not asking fully the right things!
The whole of the Scottish mainland is to go into the top tier as of 00:00:01 on 26 December and the islands to tier 3.
Christmas day will be allowed in both tiers but should be as restricted as possible, but the rest of the 5 day window is closed. Also there will be no travel out of or into Scotland and still no travel between council areas.
I'm looking forward to getting the 23rd out of the way and having a few days off work. Reading between the (blurred) lines i was suspicious around 10 days ago that we would be back in lockdown for Christmas - the science and medical information was suggesting the opposite of an "easing" - the length of time the revision actually took sums up this shambolic administration.
Well, we now know the world health organisation informed the government in September of the new variant of Covid, they also received all the relevant data in November.
They have actually let it run riot for weeks knowing it was 70% more infectious. Six Countries have now closed their borders to us and can you blame them. Who would have thought it, EU countries being able to close their borders without the permission of the EU 🙄
5 years, 200 billion pounds to gain our sovereignty which we already had could 2021 get any worse, you betcha!

Heard that this morning too.
Given that this new variant has been around since at least September, I think it's a safe bet that it has indeed spread further afield. Perhaps a more interesting - though related - question would be; "Did it originate in the UK?". From a UK perspective, it's a bit of a moot point at the moment, but it may give some of our neighbours pause for thought...

It's all "unlikely's" and "we don't think's" surrounding the new mututations and the current vaccines too imo. Vague, like everything else.

Got an answer to that one from a TV doc this morning
apparently a Covid sufferer in Cambridge was treated with blood plasma from a recovered man, this allowed the virus to mutate, but as there have been 400 or so mutations since the start of the pandemic without any ill effects,nobody really took this one seriously either until Porton Down decided to investigate its genome....they reported their findings to the government on Friday afternoon.....hence the panic
now, we can believe this or not,but Porton said it must have originated in Kent and spread from there, ....so if this guy had the mutated gene in September and considering the amount of channel crossings made,then Europe must have loads of it as well

News had a map today apparently showing that the new variant is already in Belgium and The Netherlands.....and Australia! If so, then it would appear to be what I suggested.....closing the stable door AFTER the horse has bolted. I take it they will be closing their borders to the rest of Europe now.

He has an expert agreeing with this idea.They are saying that as the first dose gives 91% immunity and the second gives only another small bit more we should therefore concentrate on giving as many people as possible the first dose and only start on the second dose once All the first doses have been given.
However, I would like to know how they know that the 91% immunity that the first dose gives DOES NOT fall away if you DON'T get a second dose within the proscribed 21 days.
Yep, the path of the virus is still unknown never mind the vaccines.
