It's like 'Well, we've had so many deaths already.....it's not worth bothering anymore.' !!!!!!!

Bournemouth today.

Showing how to do social distancing.

I'm assuming that's by the pier. Here's the thing, though: there's absolutely no need for it.

Visitors to Bournemouth tend to congregate around there (just down from the Lower and Winter Gardens, which are nice in their own right), but the beach goes on literally for miles. Take a short-ish walk East towards (or if you're feeling energetic, beyond) Boscombe, and even on a Bank Holiday you can easily find nice sandy stretches that are largely deserted...

Some good info Eugene  clearly you know the Bournemouth area.

To be honest, that photo is a relatively tight shot, so it's hard to get a real idea how crowded it is, but it does look very, very crowded.

TBH, it's been years since I was last down there.

The BBC has a wider shot of the same scene looking Southwest towards Poole Harbour, and although the crowds ease a little away from the pier, it's still pretty crowded.

Bear in mind though that that area is where all the hotels, B&Bs, bars and "amusements" are, so it tends to be busier anyway. Of course most of those places will still be closed, but I can understand why visitors who don't know the area will still congregate there.

Bournemouth has apparently declared a major incident at the beach !

Beat me to it:

Bournemouth beach: Major incident declared as thousands flock to coast

'Bournemouth Christchurch and Poole Council said it was "stretched to the absolute hilt".

Dorset Police has urged people to stay away from the resort and other beaches in the county.

There have been reports of traffic gridlock, anti-social behaviour, fights and overnight camping.'

The more you read of that BBC article, the more the jaw drops:

'Traffic built up early on coast-bound roads and with people having travelled to Bournemouth from as far as Birmingham.'

Birmingham to Bournemouth - seriously?

That's a 6-hour round trip!

Totally mad Eugene I was also reading an article saying cases are ramping up in Europe again ....what the hell don’t these people understand

I have just had a trundle down to the local shop and cash point. Masked and gloved. The cash machine had this gem on it, “our  money is Coronavirus free, it’s been quarantined for 72 hour”

Needless to say it will still be cleansed by me

Those diluted bleach sprays are anti-viral. They honk though

Used cash once in 4 months. Called a taxi to get me petrol for the mower.

Positive result percentage yesterday was 18.5% statewide, 23.3% in our part of Orlando. This is what happens when the country is run by a narcissistic idiot with the attention span of a gnat and his army of sycophantic morons. The vocal minority here refusing to wear masks and coughing in people’s faces. I know things are bad there and the death toll is horrific, but at least there is some attempt by the leaders to care.

Bit of context, in the last two days idiot has sought to end Obamacare meaning 20 million will lose health insurance in the middle of a pandemic, and defunded mobile testing. Clearly he was not kidding when he said if they stopped testing, the “sniffles” would all go away.

Aa one of the commentators on his beloved Fox News just pointed out, its unprecedented in history for a leader to have such a low approval rating during a national crisis.

It’s scary stuff Roxan

Hi Roxan, I've been worried for you a lot recentlly. I hope you and yours have been managing to keep relatively safe in all this!

I see that some states are saying they are going to re-impose some of the measures that have been lifted, but all that Florida are going to do is NOT lift anything more for now. What good does he think that's going to do?

Chin-up and keep safe!!!!!

I'll echo what Fluffs has said Rox. A few of us are  keeping an eye  on Florida.

Keep to the protocol. Feck the rest and stay safe

We are going to end up worse than America at this rate - not, obviously, in number of people, but in the percentage of the population!!!!!!!!!

And all this just because the Airlines stamped their feet and threw all their toys out of the pram!

Thanks Fluffs and @velvet donkey I am sorry I keep complaining, it’s just that the total lack of leadership and the hatefulness of the followers is really getting to me.

We are a family here Roxan. We look after each other

Did you know that NASA has a gentleman named George Aldrich, who is one of five persons who smells everything that goes into the habitable parts of the space station?

He is called a “nasalnaut”
