Seriously, we will never have control of this with these clowns in charge. After the Tories voting to go back to parliament and then loads of them complaining yesterday about the Mogg conga, even though they mostly voted to go back, this happens.

NEW: Business Secretary Alok Sharma self-isolating and has been tested for Coronavirus. He began feeling unwell in the chamber today, spokesperson says

How many people did he infect in the HoC yesterday and today? If MP's can't manage social distancing how the hell are teachers going to keep children apart. I want to emigrate to New Zealand

I'm currently watching the C4 "Dispatches" special, and Johnson's cavalier attitude towards the virus in the weeks before he himself became infected.

They really haven't learned a thing since then, have they?

Just watched it Eugene, we need him and Cummings out before they kill many more

Remember when Jeremy Corbyn called for the government's scientific advice to be published in early March, he was mocked and accused of trying to score political points. Turns out, if that advice had been published, it would have contradicted the government's strategy.

That bloody dangerous man, right again  I know one thing, if he had been in power we certainly would not have been in the state we are in now, he's been at the forefront since February in trying to get  Johnson to do more,

I can’t watch anymore,  I am just so angry, I can get on a bus on Saturday without a mask, visit Boston and the busy market, try to keep distant from loads of people who totally disregard the government’s advice (highest number of fines issued in Lincolnshire) and this is acceptable?  Yet on the 15th a mask must be worn!

Delay, dither, despondency and death when it should have been isolate, lockdown and action

"Pubs may re-open this month in 'save summer' move"

Pubs and restaurants in England could re-open earlier than planned after warnings of huge job losses.

Firms were preparing to start serving customers outdoors from 4 July, but 22 June is now being considered by ministers backing a "save summer" move.

The Cabinet is expected to discuss the issue on Tuesday, along with possibly relaxing the two-metre distancing rule.

One does get the feeling that we are now moving into a phase where those in charge are desperate to get business moving again at the expense of a potential second wave of C-19. Not that getting business back up and running is not important, but we seem to have moved from lockdown to relaxing the 2 metre rule in such a short space of time.

Roxan, the feeling many of us over here is much the same. Get the economy  going, at the expense of the people!

How is the economy supposed to recover if half the population are either dead or severely ill?

Extremely Fluffy Fluffy Thing

Exactly EC and Fluffs.

Govt. cow-towing to their big business backers. They're all over the place on what they have said and now are saying.

We all knew economy  >  lives. If the R rate hit 2 or 3 there'd still be no further lockdown. Down south is the priority, London and it's surrounds.

VD

Anyone with an ounce of sense knows it’s too soon to start easing things as much as they are .....and instead of loosening lockdown any more , how about they start enforcing the restrictions they already have in place ....like coming down hard on these protests ! They may have legitimate reasons for protesting but now is not the time ! If ever there was a breeding ground for a second spike of infections they are it !

Baz

Tricky one that Baz. Lockdown ended weeks ago for the cavalier. It's unenforceable in numbers

Govt. snookered.

Then what’s the point in any of it Velvet ? I agree enforcing it has been made more difficult by the blasé actions of certain high profile individuals , but I can’t agree with allowing what has virtually become mob rule

Baz

It's getting scarier by the minute!

I'm so glad I was able to retire from work when I did. Girls at work tell me they cannot work from home as there are not enough laptops to let them do that!

Why is Johnson permitted to flit between No. 10 and Chequers and Chevening? Does the second home rule only apply to the proletariat?

He should be paid pro rata. Wednesdays.

He is probably checking his eyesight or visiting his children

EXCL: Channel 4 News has seen a leaked paper prepared for one of the scientific committees advising the government - which called in the starkest possible way for a lockdown - a full two weeks before the official announcement was made.

Paper by Prof Steven Riley at Imperial College London finds that mitigation, strategy government was following at the time, would lead to 1.7 million deaths. He advocates for change of strategy to that seen in Hong Kong, Japan, Italy of "successful ongoing control" ie lockdown

Private firms to lose role in probation services

This is being buried under the mountain of C-19 news. But not everyone missed it.

I saw the debate in HoC this afternoon. Not before time either. I used to work for NPS as opposed to private CRC's. CRC's were hopeless

Through daily observation I have seen how people are very quickly returning to type. The mixed messages from the government have not helped one jot. The social bubbles will just mean people will meet up with whoever they feel like. Today I have seen a group of 4 young women all enter a coffee shop when it clearly says only 5 customers at any time, there were already 2 customers in store. Jeez - these girls looked like Uni students, what the hell is wrong with them, clearly not maths students.

Today I saw lots of shops putting up posters saying "stay 2m apart in store", just after BJ has said he may relax the 2m rule.

I have noticed that a lot of shops will be opening from June 15th, let's see how keen the shops are to keep customers socially distanced when profits are at risk.

This whole thing has quickly crumbled into a complete fiasco.

The only thing I hope is that we do not see a rise in the infection rate and a return to lockdown.

Rant over . . . for now!

I see it appears to have broken out again in Beijing

As well as the dreadful (and sadly predictable) mishandling of the outbreak in Brazil, I think what's worrying me most at the moment is the news of a suspected second wave in Iran.

As you'll remember, Iran was one of the worst-hit countries early-on, and it's widely believed that the actual death toll was at least double that reported.

The country's really not in any state to cope with another outbreak.

Yesterday I thought I had gone on a rant, well, today I'm keeping it short by posting the headline, but it does add to my post and my suspicion that far too many people think we are out of the woods and we can carry on as normal.

""A 20-year-old man has died, a woman has been raped and three people have been stabbed during two illegal "quarantine raves" that attracted 6,000 people.

Thousands flocked to Daisy Nook Country Park and Carrington in Greater Manchester late on Saturday"".

They don't care because they think they're invincible...and being young they take no notice of anyone....tell them not to do something and they'll go and do it anyway

Mostly elderly people near me - not one wearing a face mask

No one is wearing one. Do people have a death wish?

What is this panic to go out an mingle?

Talking about "only" 90 people died in the last 24hrs - oh well that's ok - unless you're one of those 90 people or their family.

This lazy attitude leaves me stunned
