Just tour newsagents that are giving away free copies of The Sun, that's the best and really only use for it.
I heard the same thing about loo rolls, the Chinese are also switching production to face masks, so there will be a shortage, probably.
The official line is that there is no need to panic, NOT to panic buy and to do your shopping as normal, but as we know, the mere mention of a LACK of a need to panic tends to engender that very panic in people!

To all those nicking alcohol hand gel from the ends of hospital beds & wards-please, kindly take a moment to remember that the people in those hospital beds are some of the most vulnerable. Don’t put them at even more risk!

It honestly makes me ashamed of being British sometimes most of the time

Bonkers down here...Tesco is decimated, yet a couple of miles up the road both Iceland and B and M have loo rolls and tissues etc, only thing you can't get is hand gel and if you run out it's easy to make your own if you have to
And why are people panic buying loo rolls? The virus dosen't cause the sh*ts
Sprout posted:And why are people panic buying loo rolls? The virus dosen't cause the sh*ts
Insane, isn't it?
I actually needed to buy loo roll on Thursday, and while my local Sainsbury's wasn't out of it, the shelves did look a bit on the sparse side...
I did a "proper" shop on Friday evening, and I noticed the same supermarket was less surprisingly rather low on tinned veg - especially tinned tomatoes. The one I didn't expect because it's not something I'd normally think about was that the shelves were rather short on tinned meals - tinned curry; mince & potatoes, etc...
I didn't check on long-life milk...
I have to say though that it was also very noticeable that the shop had more people than usual out in the aisles refilling the shelves: at least for the time-being, it seems to be more a matter of logistics in getting the stock out there than actual shortages...

I agree 😡❤️
I prefer not to think about the selfish people who denude the shelves and steal hand gel....the worst kind of humans. In the UK ,how our beleaguered NHS is expected to cope with this pandemic is beyond me. Two hospitals in my area are facing closure because there aren't enough doctors to staff them...let alone nurses where there is a huge shortage too. Retired healthcare professionals are being asked to return to work..the ones I know are refusing as they are in the vulnerable age bracket.
My son in South Korea says that most of the newly qualified nurses...2000 of them have volunteered to go to the worst areas and stay there until the epidemic is over...as they are young, and without families they are best placed to do this

That’s where I heard it
So far there has been colossal mismanagement .....people flying in from Italy not being screened and returning home to infect others has been the main source of the virus getting established
Today a friend who is a teacher rang 111 as she had symptoms of a dry sore throat and feverishness ...it took an hour and twenty minutes to get through
she was told to carry on as normal (back to the classroom) and they would ring back in 4 hours. They did not ring back.
Ok money is now being put in but its a bit late as the horse has bolted
Tories keep stressing that the 'NHS will get WHATEVER it needs, but no-one has explained FULLY where ALL the hundreds of doctors and nurses will magically come from!!!!!!!
Employers pay SSP says the government - but they don't really. Up front they appear to, but they claim it back from the DWP!
