I'm really fecking angry and if I was angry before I am now beyond that.

Our own government's statistics we are very near the danger zone

It's murder, yes murder to send people to work with ^^^^ this as your starting point. The man is a lunatic, he's not consulted his own cabinet, other nations of the union...just Mr Eugenetic Cummings. If you're not angry you should be, Dr's Mp's, nurses are up in arms.

We have more deaths per capita than the rest of the world and he's relaxing go to work rules but upping fines for anyone caught socialising, he's batshit off his rocker. The second wave will be on us in no time, Germany relaxed and infections have risen and their figures were nowhere near ours.

Perfectly explained here, you don't have to be a twitter member to watch

good luck and try and stay safe, we're going to need it

I feel your pain Damesy  and yes, I'm angry too

If the lazy attitude i've already seen 'before' the easing of restrictions is anything to go by then i think you're correct

How much did they relax the restrictions? Are schools opening? Are restaurants opening?

So stupid to relax.  Here we are accelerating again already, and like Damesy said, Germany are rising already, as are S. Korea and even China is getting (symptomatic) cases again.

is the R0 much below 1 there?

Hi Roxan, it's as clear as mud so far. The talk is that schools beginning to open after the first of June, I'm sure there will be a spike before then and if it continues another wave shortly after,

Pubs not until July so far, depending on which Tory MP the press are talking to, it changes every interview,

The RO number is supposedly between 05 and 09, they have conveniently plucked this number out of the air because it's below 1, although how they have come to this conclusion is anyone's guess.

The lack of testing makes it impossible to be certain, you don't have to be a virologist to know that it's impossible to work out without testing. As far as I am aware, up until last week there were no virologists sitting on the Sage board. We do however have a Eugenist in the form of Dominic Gollum Cummings

Well I’m going nowhere until they develop a vaccine ....cos I’ve no idea how they can confirm if the virus has gone !

I haven't compared the two lists but there's at least one virologist - Wendy Barclay.

That's why I said as far as I'm aware El Loro, at the beginning there was no virologist sitting on the sage board, the board is now much larger than it was.

Thanks Damesy! I guess watching the death rate is going to be more telling if they aren’t testing properly. It’s the same thing here, not much testing except for in the White House. Hard not to feel really angry about this incompetence.

it really is hard not to be angry. Mixed messages are deliberate in my opinion when the rate goes up the government can blame the public for not being alert.

Sure you have all seen Matt Lucas impersonating the PM’s speech on lockdown. Genius!

Definitely a genius, but it's still frightening that Matt's "impression" makes more sense than the PM...

Indeed; as I said on another thread, it's sobering to remember that a baked potato has given a more coherent explanation of the government's policy than any member of the Cabinet...

Johnson has form on this, of course. I'm sure many of you remember this from 2007:

Just let that sink in for a moment: the eloquent political titan that is ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER mocked Johnson for "fumbling all over the place"...

Obfuscating, frighteningly incompetent bunch of lying amateurs, sitting back and playing Russian Roulette with the nation.

You wouldn't know where to start but the top is as good a place as any. What a  worldwide embarrassment they/we are. Get the independent SAGE committee in too and get the lackies out.

If you didn't watch it, The Country That Beat the Virus on Channel 4 last night was extremely interesting and if only we had followed their example, we would have saved thousands of lives, billions of pounds and hardly any lockdown. It's on catchup

Maybe it's because it all seems like 100 years ago now, but I was surprised at how much I didn't know. E.g. although it's been widely reported that South Korea and the USA got their first reported cases on the same day, I hadn't realised that the Koreans had identified her as she entered the country through airport arrivals, using temperature-sensing equipment that UK airports had chosen not to implement because it supposedly didn't work...

it really was an eye-opener Eugene, they had it nailed from the beginning and something that every country should have looked at.

The infection rate has risen again to between 07-1 and the idiot in charge has sent people back to work. I thought it was it was the government's job to protect its citizens and not the billionaires...darn this is the Tories we are talking about, silly me it's the other way around. By the way, this new figure doesn't include the decisions made on Sunday to send people back to work and the opening of schools

The sooner Johnson and Cummings are out of Downing street the safer it will be for the country, this is lunacy.

And on the North East news people being interviewed in highly infected Gateshead said no one was following the 2m distancing and few could be seen with face coverings.

Of course the easing is too soon if this is happening

The infection will rocket and lock down will be reimposed

we've never had a proper lockdown and mixed messages for weeks, the clown needs to get a grip

The last few days I have noticed a distinct loosening of social distancing amongst people, mainly youngsters, but not entirely. Also, the roads are busier and drivers seem to have taken to risky driving, tonight a post office van went through the lights when it was green for us to go (I was at a junction at the end of a motorway slip road - so even more dangerous IMO).

I was gobsmacked at the stupidity of the driver.

I agree. All of these new cases must be coming from somewhere. I obviously had the wrong impression, I thought by now the daily infections and deaths would be reducing fairly steeply.

I'm sure they would have been if we had had proper controls from the outset!

Extremely Fluffy Fluffy Thing

I have been isolated for 2 months (maybe more - i've lost count) and will happily stay isolated til Xmas if necessary

I'm rudddy terrified to go out - thank God i don't work.

Then i see people just wandering around. Next door neighbour is 80+ and goes out every day  - sometimes shopping in ASDA

She has diabetes and he has COPD

Madness - sheer reckless madness

I'm still working from home, and despite Johnson's "Stay Alert" shift, my company's line is unchanged: they want us to stay at home wherever possible. I do go out, but only really for food and medicine - nothing like as often as I could, even before the exercise rule "relaxation".

I really want to stick to the spirit of the title of this thread, but I'm genuinely concerned about this weekend. The weather's not looking all that great, but there's already been increased traffic here to the local costal resorts.

I for one am definitely battening down the hatches instead...

This doesn’t affect my granddaughters yet, but it is worrying, they attend a very small rural village school, most arrive by car and some by bus/taxi. The school building is small, no hall, assembly is in one of the classrooms and pe is in the nearby village hall, where other activities take place. There is no other space available for social distancing to take place. Madness, utter madness 🤬

I can’t believe that people were protesting against the lockdown in London today ....totally mad

They're led by Piers Corbyn (Bother of Jeremy), who's not quite in the same league as David Icke, but isn't far off...

Piers was one of 19 arrested.

What was interesting is that if you looked at the placards on display, they showed - as is common in the US protests - a wide range of conspiracy-theory talking points, and many of them were clearly aimed at a US audience, e.g. I saw one attacking Dr Fauci and Bill Gates.

I saw another one which - amongst other things - demanded "No" to "forced vaccines" and "being tracked and chipped": for those not already aware of it, this references a debunked anti-vaxer/deep-state conspiracy theory that claims Bill Gates is pushing to force everyone to be injected with his own vaccine, which will contain a tracking micro-chip in order to build a "Global Surveillance State"...

That was the worst briefing I've seen yesterday(now). There's beyond belief and there was that. Talk about tax avoidance and evasion. Williamson - human mogadon. And Jenny Harries needs Keith Harris - she's a sold out ventriloquists' dummy.
