I burst into tears at the doctor's this morning, haven't had a break (because I was late in due to my GP appointment) and work is shite.

Because my B12 injections aren't helping any more, I feel like crap all over again and have just had to have my blood tests re-done.
My boss won't let me reduce my hours. I feel like death warmed up. Doc wanted to sign me off sick on the spot, and put me on anti-depressants because the lack of B12 is affecting my seratonin levels and making me feel lousy.
Blah, blah blah..
Sorry, folks. Just work around me
I just needed to vent.

You should take the sick leave if you've been offered it deman, have a proper chill out, spend some time looking after yourself

Pins and needles are back, constantly.
And I feel more knackered than ever.
Ah, bobbins to it. I know there are loads of people with far worse problems than me who don't grumble at all.
Just having a really bad day. It's getting me down.
Im not up to speed on this; Why are you having the injections? Ive heard of a few people having these. When I was really cronically anaemic and they put me on iron tablets, someone mentioned the B12 jabs to me (coz I take B12 tabs too) coz Im a veggie. Feel so sorry for you and your boss sounds a right pig too!quote:Originally posted by Demantoid:quote:Originally posted by Queen of the High Teas:

Aww Deman, surely if your doc states that you are ill, your boss can't do anything about it.There are procedures.

It may come to that. But I didn't want to - I offered to work part-time, even on a temporary basis until I got better.
But oh, no. He says he'll look at it in his "next quarterly review", so me and my illness had just better fit in with his sodding timetable
Tell the boss, if he isn't nice to you, we'll send Sree in after Friday!
Awwww Toid .

Well yeah, but their problems are not your problems so you are entitled to moan about your own stuff - don't feel bad on top of already feeling bad.
Has this GP offered any other alternatives than just anti depressants which personally I would be wary of?

That's what I have, but it's not responding to treatment as fast they expected.

Oh what a shame Deman, I thought the injections were working really well for you hun. You should take the sick leave, especially as work isn't being helpful as far as reducing your hours goes. If the doc offered it to you he obviously thinks you need it. If you're not well you're not well and you need time and rest to get yourself right.

Don't worry, I refused the happy pills. She says she wants to see how I am in a couple of weeks, and refer me to a specialist if I'm no better. And I had my bloods re-done today.
The anti-depressants are apparently often used for severe pernicious anaemia, because lack of B12 gives you the blues.
My reading was 4 when I first got blood teasts. My doctor said she'd never seen one so low! It crept up very slowly. Even now Im in the lowest part of the "normal" range. Its a combination of being Veggie and having really bad periods every month (sorry guys reading this!) They offered me a hysteractomy, but I didnt wanna go down that road. Are you tired a lot? I still get tired, but not as bad as I was. And my hair was falling out to! Thats why I first went to the doctors. Was so scared. Thats when they discovered the anaemia. My hair is back to normal now though. How long you been on the jabs hun? Are you on the iron tabs too?quote:Originally posted by Demantoid:quote:Originally posted by Little Miss Spurs:

I'm going to talk to OH later about it. He's pretty worried and says whatever I want, he's behind me.

I've only been on them a week (every other day) and while they seemed to help at first, they aren't now. On the iron tabs as well.
Poor you! Your case sounds terrible - I know the tired and drained feeling very well, but my hair has all stayed in my scalp.

Press her to see a specialist Demantoid, it can't hurt to have a more expert opinion.
I get so fed up with medics pushing the head pills angle - they seem to think they are a cure all.
They might help with the serotonin problem but they won't do anything for the anaemia and that is causing the serotinin problem

Do you have a pinched nerve that is causing the pins and needles? Perhaps a physio can help sort it out.
Maybe you could ask for iron injections. I have them now only once a fortnight, but it does help better than the tabs.

Seems early for them to be saying its not responding well. I know the iron tabs took months with me. I still take them now. Have you ever heard of Floradix? Its a herbal liquid iron. You take it like medicine? While you dont wanna overdose on iron, its a good supplement. Irons so hard to injest if youre Veggie. Sorry, did you say you were vegetarian Deman?quote:Originally posted by Demantoid:quote:Originally posted by Little Miss Spurs:
