The system is not good enough, but that is the same in other European countries, in fact, back in my old country it's worse because the borders are open and mass immigration is a major headache on the one hand, but a God send on the other. After all, millions of British people emmigrate too.
PS. zazz, I love that rabbit.

I think it's fair to say that some people only come over here to try and start a new life, and a better life than they can get in their country of origin, and it's true that people from here actually do go to work and live overseas, so I guess it's only fair that we give immigrants a chance.  But in the really bad economic state that the UK is in, we do have to be a bit more strict on the amount of people we're allowing in.  The country can only take so many people and we're already pretty over-populated over here.  So yes, I think we do need to curb it somewhat.

Well said Karma.    There are of course the scrounging piss-taking immigrants, but plenty of scrounging piss taking British born people too.  And there are plenty of immigrants who bring a lot to this country.  But as most here have said, I think immigration needs to slow down a bit.  At least for a while...

It might be a complete mess, but maybe the authorities are too busy locking kids up in Detention Centres.

This is an extract from a Channel 4 documentary about kids we lock up, whilst trying to deport them and their families back to countries where they will be persecuted, arrested, tortured and possibly killed. This child was from Iran, where his mother and sister were wanted for having copies of the Satanic Verses.

One of the other stories was about a 15 year old girl from Uganda, who had watched her family being killed, after her mother was forced to watch her being gang raped by police. She was sent back, having escaped to the UK, and had been arrested and tortured, before escaping again. The authorities here did not believe her story, or her young age, despite her body being covered in signs of torture and beatings.
