Awwww....Ditty, sorry you were sick.

It's gonna take me WEEKS to get my house back together--we had to move a bunch of furniture to accommodate 13 people at the table. And yes, Jen: my dishpan hands are gonna drop right off my arms shortly.

I love Thanksgiving, though. Even the cleaning up is worth it, and except for my MIL going into the hospital on Friday, it was lovely to have my sisters and parents and I all together for the first time in about 25 years. And Dave came, too! We had a LOVELY time!

Do you deep-fry the whole Turkey? I have seen this on the TV and is it popular over there or just a trend in some regions?

I would have been standing back at the ready  in England if I'd known.........

I will let you know next time.

Soozy: I've just been to check his recipe: sounds lovely! Mr. Lori also does a lovely roast turkey that he has brined for 24 hours before it goes in the oven. Lovely flavor, and very juicy.

Lori

I've just looked for the recipe but can't find it ................basically you chop up carrots, leeks, onions add bay leaves, pepper and anything aromatic - lay it in the bottom of a roasting tin - add white wine and water - sit the turkey on the top and cover the roasting tin with foil. Put it on the hob - when you hear it really boiling put it in the oven on a medium heat - don't open up - don't let the steam escape - it'll cook a large crown in about 2 and 1/2 hours - really quick/really, really moist!

Hello

I had a Ped Egg once..

It was terrible

How bad was it?  Was it bad, as in a rubbish product, or bad as in it worked so brilliantly you removed half your foot in one swift movement?

Well, if Dave was there... !!

Well, we just didn't let Dave anywhere near any cooking devices.

Somehow I had the impression Eileen had tried to EAT the egg. Not sure where I got that idea.

Ped Eggs are gooood!

So long as you use them when you've had a long soak in the bath (& dried off of course)...

and yeah...    don't look when you empty them!

In fact..   the one serious design flaw was the way it opened... it was a stick your nail in the crack type thing (ooh err)..     and when it finally came open you get sprinkled with ...    well, not fairy dust
