They were on knock down for 35p. So I thought have a tester pack. I think they must be made of wholemeal flour or some such stuff. Very odd in texture.
But no, not waffles.
Has anyone ever had a large one? Crumpet I mean

Me. I have found that instead of having two smaller ones I have just the one big crumpet. The only issue I have is that part of it pokes out the top of my toaster and does not get toasted!

I know....it's a bugger of a problem I normally end up turning it when I put it back in again.....I can't get my toaster at the right setting

Tell me,
did they have holes at the top and not at the bottom?
Were they round?
Were they brown before toasting over an open fire (or gas fire) with a toasting fork?
Do you know how to cook and serve a crumpet to perfection?
Could always half it I guess and pull it out....with tongs......get your minds out the gutter you people

Awwww that was brilliant Sydlers when we used to sit on our crackets and toast

I am a fan of the larger crumpet too Sprout, I find one large one is better than two small ones...

I'm in two minds....by the time you've eaten one large one It's cold, whereas you could be toasting the second smaller one while you're eating the first one

There is your answer.......Never buy crumpets that are already brown.....
They should only be browned after purchase.....

Never rush with a crumpet.....take your time and savour.....

But that says to me they haven't been cooked properly in the first place. I need brownness on some stuff, you know

The top should be a creamy colour with holes and the bottom brown....until toasted...
But, but, I like my top brown somewhat, too
