I am neil3841 but my pc has packed in on me and I forgot my password I would have asked for a new one but can't access my email as I forgot password for that too. Eveything is on my other pc. I been and bought this one for Β£50 just to get online. Its pretty quick but its not the same Frowner

Hopefully I will get other one running again as I think it needs new PSU because otherwise I lost all my stuff

This is really annoying Mad sorry for the rant had to get it out lol

I can change the PSU if I can get one that fits everything (its a slimline cut what a mistake Roll Eyes )

hard drive has a SATA connection other PC has a IDE so no go there unless I add a board to allow the SATA to connect.

Its all a pain really something I could have done without. I have to say though this PC I got for Β£50 was quite a good buy its quick and has 2 hard drives in it will make a good spare till I fix other one,

(I suppose I could have just been neil here when I registered on C4 neil had gone so added 3841 never thought to try neil on its own Roll Eyes

Hi Neil3842 has your old PC died completely, it happened to me recently on a laptop, but I managed to get in "in safe mode" & retrieved all my important stuff. Saved it all onto an external hard drive including over 9000 emails in outlook, then transferred the lot onto new laptop.

Sorry to hear that Neil, when mine died it was a motherboard problem, but safe mode got me in. All your info will still be on the hard drive and can be retrieved. If you are a member of DS they have a techie forum, there is bound to be someone on there who can help. Hope you get it sorted, there is nothing worse than losing all your info.

That's beastly neil, and hub said you could take the PSU from the 50 quid one, unless it's too small, and connect it in the failed one. Although you've probably tried that already. Ranting is good. Nod Hug I gave my new desktop to hub the other day and don't ever want it back again, but kept the new

Monitor. Nod Hug

Sorry for lifting it Heaty, but it suits me too. Nod

Message from hub neil....if the power supply is an undersized one, like 1/2 thickness, they are available in the uk, and hub adds he'll try and find out from his work tomorrow, where you can get it in the UK. Nod

Thanksd I am after a Enhance ENP-2224B I can't use a standed one they don't fit and it would be better being the same modal as simler ones don't always have all the needed connectors and am yet to find one with the extra one for the front panel.

Buying a slimline was a big mistake but at the take they seemed to be taking over still at least it isn't a compact

thanks apricot could be a option but it won't run the frount panel and doesn't have a P6 connector to be honest i not sure what the P6 does but it plugs into motherboard so must do something.

still waiting for a reply from the US though so fingers crossed

Neil, email the site as they might have something which might help. Smiler

Hi apricot I have ordered a new PSU from torch computers it is not the same modal as the one I have but it should do the trick Site says it will be here within the week Smiler

Took some finding one suitable I have been told by some tech guys that if i don't have the special plug for the front panel PC will still work only the panel won't light up.

will decide later if I want to cut into wires to wire it up or not. But as the only thing on the panel of any use is the clock I probably won't bother.

Neil - if all else fails you can still save everything.
You will need a SATA/IDE to USB connector which is available fairly cheaply on ebay.
Pull out hard drive from deceased pc, connect to working one using USB connector and it will recognise it as an extra drive.
Then just drag and drop to your hearts content!
I saved 80GB worth of music I thought was lost forever and saved extortionate fees from PC world for "data recovery".
If I remember correctly the kit was under a tenner.
Worth twice that.
Good luck!

Well I think I will be able to fix it but if it does fail I will somehow install the hard drive in this PC but couldn't drag and drop this PC has a combined disk space of about 60GB other hard drive is 300GB and has about 200GB full not sure how I managed to fill it up so much though

Will let you know how I get on with it when the PSU gets here Smiler
