Under New Labour it was finally banned several years ago. Do you think it should be brought back if they lose office at the next General Election?

it's never gone away.
No it's cruel and the only purpose it serves is for a bunch of rich toffs to chink their glasses at their evil achievement.
They still do.

If 'The Hunt' was led by a group of average earners, who would only chink coffee mugs, would you're opinion of them be the same?
I hope it stays illegal cos it is evil Each to their own but what pleasure does a person, Toff or no toff, get from seeing a bunch of hounds tear a fox to shreds?? It's sick and if they do legalise it again then they'd be as well legalising dog fighting which is also awful
As above. Animal cruelty should never be condoned or legalised. Its against the law and long may it remain.
the law hasn't changed anything though, fox hunting is as rife as it ever was, there are any amount of loop-holes.
so changing the laws back is an irrelevance.

People might still do it but is it as common as it was in the past? If it stops one hunt a year going ahead then its doing a better job than it would if we changed it back.
Well sadly it is still happening near the area I live in
I abhor any animal cruelty but it will never stop some people I am afraid

they do it under the guise of drag hunting (where the hounds follow the scent carried by a runner) but if the hounds just happen to catch the scent of a fox...
as long as the hunt doesn't go out with the 'intention' of killing a fox it's business as usual.
we don't allow the b@stards onto the farm where i work BTW.

I don't think fox hunting should be brought back, as i think it is a very cruel sport

Outdated cruelty.
It shouldn't be brought back again any more than bear-baiting should.
It's time the European Community got together to ban bull-fighting as well.
Most definitely not
NO!!
It's the unspeakable in pursuit of the uneatable.
No! It's just bloodlust! why anyone wants to see an animal torn to bits etc,by hounds (Oh we are a posher version of Rentokill etc).Jiust doesn't wash, if it really was about so called vermin control etc . we'ed.have the toffs down the sewers to hunt rats etc,Hah!

The very same! I always think of how he defined fox-hunting whenever it's mentioned. Great man!

No it wouldn't. I understand that wildlife sometimes has to be culled because of over population or threat to other wildlife or humans. But to tear an innocent animal to pieces for sport is cruel no matter what standing someone has in life.
Of course it should, the law was only brought in as a class warfare thing, not in any interests of animal welfare, if it were then fishing, shooting, horse and dog racing, would be banned, but of course they are the pleasures of the labour voters.....

To me it has absolutely nothing to do with class.
Cruelty is cruelty whatever the class of the perpetrators.
And I'm not particularly happy about the other so-called "sports" you mentioned either.
If not banning then serious reforms need to be thought about there.
I don't like to see any creatures exploited and killed purely for amusement and making money on betting.
Only if, by 'Hunting with hounds', you mean "The Great Easter Beagle" who hides all the eggs in the great Easter egg hunt.
I also don't agree with bullfighting, for eg. I think for anyone to be admired for using cruelty towards an innocent animal should be ashamed. And humans are supposed to have the most intelligence?? I hope fox hunting and any form of sick pleasure like this is eliminated for good. It's proof that money has nothing to do with morals, caring and compassion infact for some it makes them believe they can do what they want, when they want.

Good post piper
Absolutely not, it is barbaric.
Where are the 12 people who voted that it should be legalised? Maybe they can give us reasons why they think it should be brought back?

Yes, I would very much like to hear their side of the debate
I also think it is barbaric as well as Bull fighting which is prevalent in my home Country.

The only reason I wanted it banned was because twice I have nearly been written off as a result of double parked spectator scratters, on bends, on country roads.
As for the sport itself? Mostly harmless.

Hi Silver thank you
So at present 33 say no, 12 say yes with one abstention. Although looking one sided only 7.7% of the current forum population have had their vote. Get them all to vote and lets see what this House says.
