I stood in the open porch of a house I lived in once & watched lightning roll down the street - effing amazing it was ! 

    I sometimes can't cos depending on which way the wind's blowing it blows it in my face at the door

Issy, the thunder's ok. It's the lightning (if anything) you have to be wary about
