I don't think it looked particularly amazing either - I could see it was a teensy bit bigger than usual maybe. The real miracle of it was that it got so many people out to watch the moonrise, and that it motivated my fat arse to get off the chair and go find a great place to watch it rise.

my daughter has been wanting one for years..

its not happening though..   cos when I asked her what she would do when it uglied up I am sure I heard the word "FLUSH" in her mumbled answer!

although she went on to say that it would amuse her to see peoples faces when they asked what her big old ugly salamanders name was... & she replied "Pinky"

oooh!   so they do have proper personalities then?

we looked at some ads for them....   one bloke was selling off a load that had limbs missing (they had been taking chunks out of each other)... but tried to use this as a selling feature..   saying the fun was in watching them regenerate

I had to admire the pitch...

One of the few animals that do this.  Slimey little miracles in a lot of ways.  If somewhat violent, right enough.
Damn, I crossed my ferret with the wrong animal! Ferrets can heal spinal cord injuries, they're one of the only animals that can. I should have crossed mine with an axolotl rather than a snail!!

stop it!

I won't be swayed...   not getting one, not getting one...

its why I have resisted going and looking at any that are up for sale...    I know how this one goes..   "I'll do all the looking after it mum...  no you won't get stuck with cleaning out tanks/cages whatever"

but I always do.

she'll have her own place in the next few years... she can get one then & I will go and visit it.
