Brain.
I get it all the time at work, and it took me ages to click as to what it means.
It apparently means 'knock your price down'.
Sharpen your pencil as you are going to have to rub the price out a lot.
The reason I am asking is because Mr C said it to someone today and they didn't have a clue what he meant, so I was wondering is it a NE thing?
I had no idea, but I would probably tell them that lead is bad for you which is why I use a fountain pen.
Hubby uses the phrase, "sharpen your pencil" - usually when he's talking to car salesmen.

I've never heard of it before Cinds
I've never heard of it before?
I've heard the saying 'it puts lead in your pencil' but that's a bit rude.

I've been known to do likewise. Really puts them off their stride when a woman talks to them that way.
You mean they think us women are fick!
We use it all the time over here, Cinds.
Are there Christmas pencils in there?
Hahahahha Sweet I love you and your jolly take on life. Please will you come and live with me?
Which reminds me I saw a photo the other day that made me think of Sweet. Let me go look for it.

Ahaaaa. See. The first time I heard it said was by one of our salesmen, who used to be a car salesman.
I don't have a pencil collection. I do have lots of pens scattered about the house though. Trouble is......whenever I want one I can't bloody find one!

YAY. Look at us being all trans Atlantic in our office
If it's not pretty enough, I'm sure you'll make it prettier.
(Did you know I have a full size rotating from the roof mirror disco ball? Plus pulsating disco lights) Not trying to bribe or anything
It looks like you might have every other holiday covered, though.
Cinds, I love that picture! I love beagles, and someday I will have one. Although...I'll probably have to outlive Mr. Lori to have that happen.

Lori...don't even joke. I keep saying to Mr C, when you die and the dogs are dead I'm getting a beagle.
It will be a he, and he will be called Jeremy.........Jeremy Beagle, (you probably need to be British to get the pun), but that is what he will be called.
Joe does this help?
Wie scharf ist Ihr Bleistift?
(I used babelfish so if it says something untoward, I apologise)
