However, I have just done a Groupon voucher at another salon, and I like the cut better - so I'm going back there at the end of the month

Groupon is wicked I've managed to get loads of stuff for the boy like paintballing and go karting that would otherwise have cost a fortune. I love it!

You have your eyebrows waxed? How on earth do you stand the pain?! The one and only time I tried that I screamed my head off and nearly auto-reflexed kicked the girl in her foof so hard she would have gone through the window. (Good job she moved). I was seriously pissed off and kept giving her evils afterwards. I'm gonna get mine tinted but I'm a bit scared that I'll end up looking like Susan Boyle :s

Ah! Another thing about haircuts and colour/tinting, I don't know if anyone has tried those student nights? They're supposed to be really good, a student works on your hair but under the guidance of a senior technician or stylist, I've never tried them but I know people who use it as a cheaper way to regularly get their colour done. I wouldn't mind trying it for colour, but not so sure about cutting.

You wuss!!

Actually, the worst thing for me is that when she plucks the stray hairs after the waxing, it makes me want to sneeze. What a job - one client kicks and screams and the next one is either sneezing in your face or Turning Japanese in an attempt not to

Not been for it yet, I go on 22nd August so I'll let you know I wasn't planning on getting them to do anything drastic, more of a trim and tidy up really. So many hairdressers seem to have problems  cutting and styling curly hair properly

oohhh yus, the head massage!! I bloody love that! I get one of them for me £45 and I could sit there for hours They also have massage chairs for when you're getting your hair washed My usual one is Toni & Guy Newcastle - I keep going there cos I don't want to leave the lovely hairdresser who actually can cut curly hair

Turning Japanese hahahaha!

I've got quite a high pain threshold but jeez that was harsh I think it's easier if you have fine hair but I've got thick, almost wiry eyebrows (a bit like Susan friggin Boyle come to think of it ) and if I don't keep them tidy then it's Demis Roussos central. I've just got a bit too plucky happy with the tweezers and need them sorted out

I'm away again to get my nose in the books. yay. Catch you later x

T&G is my establishment of choice, too (but it's cos the hairdresser is such a hoot and it's just hassle free cos I just let him do whatever he wants to my hair).

Right I must away and try and get an edjukashun, see you later! x

The first time someone suggested a KGB deal to me I shit myself cos I thought it was like the KGB police people and worried that it was some kind of secret service thing

Ask at any good and reputable salon, Saz (Toni &Guy, Headmasters..etc) They have regular training for their staff and won't let someone wild on your barnet unless it's supervised.

Right! Me gaaan! (Again :laugh x

Yeah, I do love me hairdresser I know T&G have that training place near Oxford St, maybe I should check them out. I don't really mind what they do colour wise - its much easier to fix that than a bad cut!

See, is it not worth us all putting a basin round our heads and getting someone else to cut

Although I've seen some cuts that look like Stephen Hawking's been having a go

I got a Groupon recently for a wash, cut, highlights and blow dry for £29 - usual price £235 The place is in Knightsbridge like, but come on!

Ellis, I know I have a piece of glass in my hand that's been there since I was about 9, nothing's ever happened and I don't want to alarm you or owt but there might be a chance that your foot might swell up like Buzz Lightyear and fall off in your sleep

My daddy always says it'll turn into a pigs foot.  I think it's gone though,  I didn't feel it when I was out tonight.  The vodka and sambuca may have numbed it tho.

Well I've just had my hair cut for the first time in 24 years. It was waist length and now is just below my shoulders. Cost me 4600yen, which is about £35. My boyfriend reckons it's taken years off me, so it's worth it

I pay, I think it's £96 for cut, highlights, treatment and blow-dry, (not certain 'cos it's usually way over £100 after I've added on the cost a few Kerastase products!).....But I do get 2 head massages and several cups of tea/coffee with nice biscuits and only go about 3 or 4 times a year to justify the price.....Oh, and I'm worth it

I luuuuuurve my hairdresser, been going to him for nearly 20yrs and he's one of the few people I've ever come across who can actually blow-dry my hair properly. Recently I had to miss an appointment just before I went to visit my sis' in Turkey as I was unwell, so her friend, (who used to work in one of the top London salons,) did it for me when I got there, and said: "hairdressers are quick enough to criticise others, but, credit where credit is due, this is a brilliant cut, so easy to follow"...and then charged me bugger all

FM

I pay £55 for a cut and blowdry and £110 for highlights my hairdresser is a fantastic cutter I have been going to her for 12 years,I have had bad experiences over the years with hairdressers with bad/nightmare  cuts, being trained does not mean they are good some are naturals whilst others are mediocre and some are absolutely terrible cutters, agree with posts above it is hard to find a hairdresser who can cut naturally curly hair properly, you also get a head massage and a menu with hot and cold drinks or a glass of wine etc if you want ..and as many as you want ..no extra charge ..they really look after you

and again...        I've had two hairdressers my entire adult life and when the first one stopped working and I had to find the second it was a traumatic experience!       I pay about £30 quid, but only ever have a tidy up ends and layers - I've given up dreaming of hair that I can have in different styles.

Kaffy when my hair use to be  in a bob and is naturally curly I gave up and had my hair cut really short as I was fed up with one side always being cut shorter  than the other,I have my hair cut really short into the nape of my neck and the sides but the top is in long lairs which I blowdry and use straightners as it gives it a softer look,I have never looked back and would never go back to any kind of length because I could never find a hairdresser who could give me a good cut..

Why do they have so many problems with it? Especially cutting it to the right length... is it really so hard to remember that it will be significantly shorter when dry than wet so DON'T cut it to the length I asked for when it's wet! Muppets! Thats why I stick with my lovely hairdresser in Newcastle - he seems to be the only one I have found who knows what he is doing!

I love the Senior Stylist who comes in as and when he has appointments, i think he hires part of the place. Its at the Newcastle hair and beauty clinic, and he is fab!!!

Up till now is the only one at present I will let near my hair. Once you find the right one i think, you can't afford not to go anywhere else.

Ev (Peachy)

I feel your pain Saz.... my niece got a hold of me one day with a set of straighteners though and boy it was weird.  Apart from the fact that my just a bit longer than shoulder length hair now reached my waist - it looked so flat and just not me.

I had a similar problem at Christmas when I was off to a posh wedding... I had two trial runs, trying to smooth it and put it up.. they got it nice and smooth, but I hated everything they did (he knew though - and he wasn't happy either - we agreed I'm just not a 'straight hair' person)  In the end we decided he'd just tong it into bigger smoother curls for the day - and then the snows hit and I didn't even make the appointment on the day so I ended up going to the wedding with my everyday style!

I don't usually either, just let it dry naturally. I love being the low maintenance hair person at the gym, put some product in, scrunch it a bit and go while all the other girls are faffing about with hair dryers and stuff

SazBomb

Kaffy, I do occasionally straighten my hair but everyone tends to do a double take as I look so different I usually ask my hairdresser to do it (cos they do it better and I don't have to faff!) and he always grumbles about why would I want to straighten it when I have lovely curly hair Everyone else seems to love it?

Do you Both prefer it curly then? and have you thrown the straighteners away?

Ev (Peachy)

Its more of a case of just being easier for every day really - plus I'm too lazy to get up early and straighten it If I want it straight, I have to blow dry it, then use the straighteners... so thats of an evening say, by the next morning it has waves and bits kinda sticking off to the side go it needs to be top-up GHDed Its a lot of effort (well I think so!) plus its not good for my hair to do it regularly as my hair is pretty fine

re the dye I was talking about earlier, I was thinking about something along these lines:

I'm currently leaning more towards the middle one - it's just really different to anythign I've had before and I fancy a change
