I got my hair cut today and nearly fell off the chair when she charged me £30 for it!  Now that's probably not a lot to some people and to be honest it wasn't a massive amount but I usually go to a place that charges me £17 for a wash cut and blowdry but just decided to pop into the nearest one when I was in town.  I won't be doing THAT in a hurry again!  I didn't even get anything special, got about 3inches off the length and less than an inch off the layers.  It looks nice but I can't help feeling some places really take the piss when pricing.

What about round your way?  Would that be cheap?

£30 for cut and blow dry, i imagine about average. Depends where you go.

But if you normally go to your usual, and its that price, just make sure you go there the next time.

I bet it lovely.

I do love it Ev, it was way too long and she's given it a nice shape aswell but round here that is pretty expensive.

My OH is gobsmacked coz his costs a fiver and he usually says the £17 is dear

lol

Its worse if they don't notice any difference.

Down here it depends what salon you go and what level the stylist is, for a good High Street salon it's between £35 - £70 and central London you can double that and even triple it sometimes (which is bloody stupid).

Although I've seen some cuts that look like Stephen Hawking's been having a go

I suppose it could have been worse then!  Glad I don't live in London though or I'd look like a yeti.

On a different note.....I've stepped on a wee tiny bit of glass or something and can't get the bugger out.  It's in an awkward part of my foot and i can't get to it properly.

Such an eventful day

It's not only folk who reside in London that I mean

And you're walking about with glass in your foot and trying to get it out yourself?! Bloody hell are you this fella??

Yeah it's ridiculous. It makes no difference if the stylist is in Kensington or Katmandu, if they know what they're doing then that's all that's needed, but the decent salons will have a range of stylists and even the 'basic' stylists (at the lower end of the price bracket) will have regular training to keep up to date with the latest cuts/designs. I've been seeing my hairdresser for nearly 12 years now, it costs a lot but it's worth it cos it grows out well and keeps the shape for ages. The way you can tell if you've had a good cut is if after you wash it it falls back in place well.

I do get a free cuppa and a biscuit

Yes, but I get the cuppa and biscuit for my 16 pounds!

Extremely Fluffy Fluffy Thing

£25 I go to a Maria, she is from Brazil and she is the best hairdresser i have ever had.  She straightens with a vengeance and you do leave the salon with a headache, but my god shes god

I started going to her about 3 years ago and remember thinking how cheap she was. I used to pay about £45

FM

£31 for a normal cut & blow dry,

£36 for a restyle

and thats reasonable round our way.     High Street prices are £50 plus

(all assuming you go with a senior stylist..  which I always do)

and I do tip I round it up to £35 or £40

Sorry, posted and ran earlier (sorry).

Saz - was the cut you got any better than what you would normally pay on average £25-30 for? And I hope they gave you a head massage for that price! That's the one thing I love about getting my barnet done, they spend ages doing a head massage and you get treated like a V.I.P (which stops the minute you leave the door and then it's survival of the fittest just to cross the bloody road without getting knocked over )

Ellis, I know I have a piece of glass in my hand that's been there since I was about 9, nothing's ever happened and I don't want to alarm you or owt but there might be a chance that your foot might swell up like Buzz Lightyear and fall off in your sleep

Hahahaha - me too!! £95 for cut, colour and eyebrow waxing every 5 weeks

However, I have just done a Groupon voucher at another salon, and I like the cut better - so I'm going back there at the end of the month

Thats why I colour my hair at home now I can't afford £80+ every 6 weeks to get it redone
