'' we have received your request for a keepers certificate, this will be processed on the 8th of august and sent to you, please do not contact this office, until 5 days after this date should you not receive your certificate''

that's an outrage too, we are obliged by law to give them our personal details and don't have the opportunity not to allow those details to be sold on to any 3rd party.
it's this sort of legalised con that makes me very anti identity cards.

I agree, Jackson. I recently had to send off for a new driving license with all necessary documents and they have written back asking for more proof that I am who I am Mad

I am concerned about sending said original documents through our rubbish postal system in case they get lost.
there has been lts of cmplaints about getting the wrong types of licence and some not getting them at all, was a plumber on watchdog a while back, who wasn't able to work because they'd sent him a motorcycle licence.

Very! Nod

I always have a giggle when that advert comes on with the massive Mr Babbage computer on the bridge... watching the cars... with them bragging that this dirty great Genome style pooter now contains a database with all our details on it (I reckon its probably in MS Access... and replaced a dusty archive room with three little old ladies filing in it!).

They are very proud that this database now tells them when your car tax is due (someone went on the MS Access for beginners course!! I can tell! Big Grin )

They probably don't realise just how bad that advert makes them look!

Just a suggestion, don't know if it will help, but if you aren't too far from a DVLA office, then sometimes it pays to go and sit there and sort it out face to face. I did that when I needed a new log book and driving licence recently and it took a bit of time, but at least I was able to leave the building knowing that my problem had been sorted out.

That advert about the car tax makes me laugh, there is a car in my road, still being used on a daily basis, that has not had road tax on it since October 2008, and nothing is done about it. I left mine for three days in March because I was ill and not able to get out and had a note left on my window that my car would be reported to DVLA.
