I lost my wallet about 4 weeks ago, and then got a phone cal off the police this morning saying it had been handed in and could I come and fetch it. So I got to the police station and it still had the cash in it as well and all my cards! But when I asked who handed it in they said they could not tell me, what if I wanted to write them a thank you note.

Good news!
Maybe you could write them a thank you note and have it delivered via the police or write a thank you letter to your local paper Poolie.

I think it is wonderful that you have got your wallet returned to you Poolie -= and all intact too!
I may be wrong about this, but perhaps the person who handed it in is given the option of whether or not to have their name and address, or phone number, passed on to you. Maybe in this instance they felt they would rather remain anonymous.
It is amazing, though, that it has all been returned to you.
**perhaps it is some sort of reward for NOT scoffing all those chocolates before Christmas**

It just goes to show that in this day and age there are still some nice people around! By the way I've still not opened my chocolates yet.
Great news Poolie I know when you hand anything in to the police station they ask your name and address, I can only assume the person want to stay anonymous,I agree with Scotty I would put it in the local paper,it restores your faith in mankind when something nice like this happens
Yeah poolie write to the evening post and see if they will put it in the announcements or something?
Gives me faith in the human race thing like this do, shame its such a shock when things like this happen though, shouldbe the norm

When I handed in a purse I found in a telephone box to the police around ten years ago, I got a thank you card. Things may be a bit different now.
