Tumble Dryers are probably a mystery to her. Many years ago I can remember going to the bagwash, and using something like one, but I wouldn't now. They aren't very green. So it's clothes lines and then clotheshorse, or Maiden as you NW types call 'em, and radiators.
if you really want one - you'll just have to go for it ... and take the plug off every time you go out
If you really want one Maz...you'll have to buy it yourself and do as says
Don't cut your nose off to spite your face.
Maybe she can't afford to pay half for it, but I see how you feel it's unfair to buy one by yourself.
It reminds me of when I was sharing a flat in London many years ago, and I brought my little portable tv with me. This flatmate flatly refused to contribute to the tv licence, yet tried to dictate what programmes we watched. She was earning a lot more than me as well.
Houseshares are a nightmare. First rule is never to use post-it notes, ever. It only goes downhill from there.
not the greatest when all said and done, she seems to be really condescending to me.. plus she had a fella when i moved in they were going out years now all of a sudden he's been dumped and she's some other lad in .. seems a bit well trampish to me .. but maybe thats just my morals ..
YOU want it, you can buy it. if she uses it...meh, you'll still have one. she's used to not having one no doesn't feel the need to get one....so i can see it from her point of view. my OH wants a dishwasher...i dont...he can bloody pay for it LOL. doesn't mean to say i wont use it.
who pays the leccy bill? or do you split it? if she pays or even if you split it she'll be paying for it's use anyway
no need to start making things a little hostile when they need not be
Though if I wanted one, I'd buy it and not worry too much about whether or not she used it. Particulary if you're splitting the electric bill 50/50.
Plus, as has already been mentioned they EAT the electricity.
If it's worth it to you to buy it ... then just buy it, I would
but I do see what you are saying.
OR
When it's installed, she is completely won over, gives you ÂĢ25 and loves you forever for changing her outlook!
Good thinkin batman! Only thing is, most leccy meters have been 'bubbled' now - gone are the days when a photograph negative did the trick . . .
