many people do not have that luxury ... to be honest although I can afford to shop for groceries online I'm scared

Its so handy Frodo - why are you worried - payment security reasons?  I've been grocery shopping online for over ten years and never had a problem.

I'm trying to eat more adventurously... had venison burgers recently but wasn't that fussed on them.

I'm not fussed with venison either, Rog

Try guinea fowl; it's lovely. If you see any of that at the appropriate time, give it a go.  (No trousers involved either )

Venison is best eaten like beef really. Fuffing around with burgers and sausages doesn't do it any justice. Cooked slightly rare with a port gravy is lovely and I agree with Cosi about the guinea fowl.

That sounds much more like it, Col (although I'm still not overly keen on it).  Mr C likes it well hung

Do you like carpaccio and tartare, Col..?

Yes, I love all of that. Pubs in Germany used to sell half crusty rolls with raw minced pork, raw onions and salt and pepper. I suppose the food police wont allow that now.

I love both, although tartare is my favourite over carpaccio.  Never had it in the UK (yeah, food police will probably have some spoiling tactic with it ).

Erin..!    It's not raw mince as in raw mince for Spag Bol etc; this is finely chopped with a knife into fine shreds - the texture is totally different.  And it's luvverly

Last year I tasted Roe Deer  for the first time ....absolutely beautiful.

I'm terribly ashamed to admit (don't know if I dare) ........but ........my absolute favourite meat isVeal - love it.

Incidentally for the Venison lovers - Aldi do a lovely Venison steak in their frozen range.

OOh now there you got me....visited my brother in Paris & went to dinner with a friend of his....she produced Foi gras for starters which I really could not eat...then Veal
My brother leant over & pointed out that it would be rude to refuse a second time....so bit my lip & tucked in.....it was really really nice!
Wouldn't do it again but was tasty.

No I don't think so....we all have to compromise at times don't we?
I'm quite single minded on some things...but when I'm the guest of a very good friend of a relative/friend then I think it is appropriate to let things slide just a little..
I hasten to add ...I didn't finish the whole veal meal as I was full

And if you explained your view it would take a very rude person to expect you to compromise

Didn't think Cows had that much intelligence tbh.....guess you know better.

According to research, cows are generally very intelligent animals who can  remember things for a long time. Animal behaviorists have found that cows  interact in socially complex ways, developing friendships over time and  sometimes holding grudges against other cows who treat them badly.
