I disagree Supes, he may be socially inept but he knows his shortcomings but seems unable to change and is always (to me anyway) looking for people to reassure him and tell him he's fine as he is.
I do find, I must admit, he tends to focus on one person and becomes a bit obsessed but again, it's neediness and wanting to belong.
