Afternoon Mollie and Hicky  Another crap night for me .But I did go for a walk first thing , and chatted to a neighbour . Then I came home and did some washing , dusting , and hoovering . Sorry you didn't sleep well again, what is giving you trouble?

I got a taxi to the café for brekkie, so good, then popped into McColl and got some eggs, the café sells eggs, but you need your own boxes as they are in the big egg trays that hold 6-dozen or more on each layer.

I planted another 8 beetroot, more to plant yet, but they are ok in the greenhouse waiting.

I tried the new fry pan, dont think it was hot enough as the egg stuck to the non-stick surface, needs to be hotter.

My lad has moved to Liberia in Costa Rica for 1 night on his way to LA Fortune for a week before he moves again.

Not a lot going on today, Podiatrist couldn't come as her hubby tested positive, Heart nurse rang, it will be Thursday when she comes, planted another 10 beetroot, made a bacon and egg batch for brekkie, egg didn't stick as i had the baby pan hotter, did chops for tea with salad potatoes cooked in the micro and some gravy.

Getting addicted to the coffee machine & pods, omg, they are so good, the Starbucks Caffe Latte is best i think.

My lad is staying another night in Liberia before he moves to LA Fortune tomorrow.

Hope we all slept well, i only got up once at 4am, probably didn't need to, but it's nice to have a stretch.

Yes, my lad & fam are in La Fortuna for a week, he says its a nice town/village, planty of cafe's & bars etc, he is in a lovely house.

I only have 4 types of coffee pods, the cafe au Lait, caffe Latte, Espresso & Cappuccino, i think i will end up with just 2 tyoes, the caffe Latte & the Cappuccino.

My new loaf tin arrived, might make a loaf tomorrow if i get to know when the heart nurse is coming, as dont want to get part way through and she arrives.

Checked the garden, all ok so far, had smoked haddock and eggs for brekkie, had a Salmon piece and made some mash for tea, had a sauce and added some grated cheese, pretty tasty.

Yes, so many repeats on tv, so annoying, often have to revert to recording as cant find anything new to watch.

Only got up once last night as well, and that was just to have a little water and stretch my legs, i keep a bottle of water on the bedside table anyway.

Got the darts thursday night, and from friday i have got F1 again, from Monaco, should be fun.

Hope you slept ok last night, i made a loaf in the new tin, not bad, tried a couple of rounds toasted with butter and jam, very tasty and it gives a lovely cruncy crust.

The heart nurse was here today, she has changed the ramipril 1.25mg to 2 a day, still retaining some water, although it seems less.

Just watching the darts and playing chess inline with lad in Cornwall.

Afternoon Mollie and Hicky  I’m one tired Baz today. I didn’t go to bed until 12.30 , because I was half expecting a text about a friend ,  and then I tossed and turned all night !I did drag myself out for a walk first thing , which did help a bit with my brain fog , but not much .Aside from that, I’ve done two loads of washing , and hoovered ….I just need to feed the birds , and that’s me done for the day. I hope everyone else is having a good day , whatever you are up to.

Nice weather here today, didn't do a lot, just did 3 fried eggs on toast for brekkie No.#3 son popped in, and we did a bit of pruning in the garden on the vines and tomato plants,

Had cottage pie for tea with extra potato and gravy, had a vid call from Costa Rica, my No.#4 son has stopped in La Fortuna on his way to Panama, he originally booked a week but has added another week as the place is ok, dear to eat out but cheap if you buy the ingredients and make it.

No.#3 son might be able to come for brekkie with me to the Townfield café Sunday, if not he should be able to come Wednesday, and then we can go to the farm shop.

Afternoon Mollie and Hicky  It was wet all morning here , but the sun is out at the moment . I keep forgetting to take the afternoon water tablet, so take it at night, not too serious though.

A workmate called at 9am to see if i was going for brekkie at the café, i told him my lad could be coming but i will be going anyway, he said he would get here before 10am, my lad didn't come, had a great brekkie and got some eggs while there, i had taken 2 egg boxes in case they didn't have any.

Watched F1 this afternoon, watched yesterdays practice etc as well.

I'm watching recordings tonight, as i couldn't find anything i haven't seen.

Glad you slept better, didn't do much myself as i wasn't sure when Amazon was coming and had rung up about another pack of meds i needed as one had gone to 2 a day and i would run out.

Checked the greenhouse, all growing like crazy, outside as well, made a rabbit casserole for tea, hope my lad can take me to the farm shop tomorrow so i can get some nice veg and fruit.

I looked up about freezing chips and onion, and it seems that when i get my new chipped i will be able to chip blanch and freeze chips and chop onions and freeze them in useful portions as well, the farm shop has massive onions which would be ideal, last year they had sacks of spuds which were only a couple of £'s a sack, that would last a long time.

Yes, Love Island on Mon 6th ITV2 @9pm, i won't miss that.

I have recorded BGT so i can skip pass the awful acts and also skip the clown on the show.

My No.#3 son took me to the farm shop, got a big 5kg of spuds, some massive onions, to chop in the new machine when it comes so i can freeze the chopped portions, as well as chips, but i have to blanch them first.

Got some nice steaks and loads of pork sausages and thick back bacon, some super mushrooms and lovely big toms.

There is a big street party by me on Friday afternoon, will have to sort out a packed lunch or something,

Afternoon Mollie and Hicky  Lovely sunny morning but a bit cloudier now . I slept quite well , so went for a 4K walk first thing Aside from that I’ve done two loads of washing , emptied the bins , had some nice pork steaks for lunch , and not much else. But I had a lovely surprise when I pulled the kitchen blind today , and saw my Cyril sitting on the patio looking at me.Cue having to start ordering peanuts again .I hope everyone else is also having a good day .

That street party was brought forward a day as weather on Friday says rain, in fact it went very cloudy during the afternoon, so i had my brolly with me.

They had plenty of food and chips even, i took them some packets of biscuits, crisps and bananas, i took a can of coke as didn't fancy beer in case i fell or something.

I watched the proceeding on BBC1 in London, so complex, how on earth they manage to sort all that out, amazing.

They are going to deliver my new Chipper machine tomorrow now instead of Manday, that will be handy for the weekend.

thats nice your ex workmate called round and you both went to the cafe. I love going to cafes with friends. Feel deprived this week as I couldn't go out with this damn cold. But I have arranged to go to the Harvester on Tuesday with my friend and little grandson, so looking forward to that.

And thats handy too, that your  lad took you to the farm shop, I know how you like to get stocked up from there.

Hope the changed prescription amount suits you. Its good the nurse is checking the dose carefully for you.

I see your son is still travelling all over the place, its useful they can give you video calls to keep in touch.

How nice you got invited to a street party. Yes best to avoid the beer when you have to walk home.

There were no street parties round here, but I made a lemon/lime cheesecake, which was very nice but harder work than it looked from the video I saw. I had to rope MrM in to help squeeze the lemons and help with the mix as my back was aching with it taking so long to mix. Then I thought we had condensed milk needed in the recipe and we only had evaporated milk, so I had to send him to Tescos. I was done in when I'd finished.

That was a nasty cold me and the boys had. Exhausted me for a whole week, still coughing now and again, as are the boys. Couldn't eat for 3 days, and had temperature, stayed in bed. But feeling good now, ...

I know me and son picked it up from some relatives we visited, a long drive away, as they had had colds, but didn't tell us till after we got there. and it was airless for the hours we sat in the their lounge. Both me and son came down with it 2 days later and the same time to the hour! Then a couple of days after us, the other son got it. Wish my relatives had warmed me and we could have visited some other time , as son lost wages whilst ill.

Don't blame you recording BGT Hicky, as some of the acts are rubbish, but luckily there has been quite a few good ones too.

Hoping to go out for lunch tomorrow at our fave traditional roadside cafe. Hot fresh home cooked food there, and for a good price too. Always popular, which is a good sign.

Gosh it was hot in our garden today, looks like summer has arrived. (thats if it doesn't disappear again). I even had to put my little sun umbrella up.

Hi Mollie and Hicky Happy Saturday folks . It’s been a fairly sunny day here ….but I have had to wait in for a parcel ….which hasn’t arrived yet ….so no walk for me today ! I had a dreadful night , so I’ve not really done a lot …but I did manage the duvet shuffle and two loads of washing ….so not a totally wasted day . Plus I’m trying to decide whether to have a smart meter put in…which is giving me a headache!

Mollie , I’m glad your cold is better now ….it sounds like a nasty one .I hope you have had a nice lunch out today .. It was quite warm here the last couple of days , but we have lots of rain and thunderstorms forecast for tomorrow , so I guess summer is over .Hicky , I’m glad you had a nice time at your street party . Sorry to hear you didn't sleep well Baz, waiting for deliveries is such a nuisance, it stops me spending a lot of time outside, i did get out to the man cave for a coffee, and a look around the garden.

Weather ok here, had a walk around my garden, all looks ok, the new deep far fryer came this morning, i had unlocked the outer door at 6:30 when i went to the loo, just as well as it arrived at 9am, but it was left inside the porch, only ordered it last night at 11pm.

I made some chips last night using the size of chip cutter that came fitted in the chipper, i changed the cutter today to the large size, took about an hour to take the machine apart and fit the new cutter size.

Will be getting a taxi to the café in the morning, enjoy having a brekkie out.

The bunting and flags etc have been strung across the roads between lamp posts, i think they will be left up till next week.

The bloods went ok, also rang the coffee machine company up, they emailed me covering a few things to do to get the machine working again, they thought it had an air lock, did one of the things they said and that worked fine, so all good.

Had some food before i went to docs as the appointment was 11:35 so didn't go for brekkie, had an egg batch for brekkie earlier.

Got the Dentist tomorrow, think its for another xray on a tooth, then sort a treatment plan out.

Love Island tonight, i will record it though, then i am in control of the breaks etc.

I've got the Urology outpatient Dept Friday to talk about my kidney stones, which i still have, it's all go.

This cold has left me still absolutely exhausted. Felt rotten last night, freezing and tired, so went to bed before 8 last night with my electric blaket on and watched BGT in bed.  Think I will have to do the same tonight, as my sinuses are still blocked and it gives me a headache. My son who caught it after me had to miss a morning shift at work today, so he too is taking awhile to shift it.  He thinks he should be ok for work tomorrow.

The dentist just checked the teeth and got the notes put on the computer, he gave me a sheet detailing what will be done when they start, the procedure doesn't start till my next appointment on 29th July, i have a feeling they have holidays in the summer anyway.

Had a chicken noodle soup for starters tonight, then a fish course of Plaice fillet and Asparagus, then had a dish of pasta and Kung Po sauce then i had a dish of thawed frozen fruit and double cream, it's a hard life.

No. 4 son & fam have booked into a Spa Hotel close to where they are for 2 days on the way to their next destination, the heated spa is heated by the heat from the volcano which it is by.

Afternoon Mollie and Hicky  Well it’s all done …smart meters ….only took about 90 minutes , and was fairly painless I can now stop hyperventilating , and I have one of those little touchscreens in my kitchen …waiting to tell me how much energy I can’t afford ! Seriously , the guy who came to do it was really lovely .. sorted out restating the boiler etc. for me. Aside from that I’ve not really done a lot today ….no walk … just some washing and general tidying up .  So a very lazy day chez Baz. …good job I got in 11k of steps yesterday. Afternoon Mollie and  Not a great night for me ….I slept ok until about 5 o’clock , and then woke up with a panic attack , and tummy ache . But I did manage a short walk this morning ….despite the fact that Telecom is digging up the darn pavement ! I’m hoping it means that we are going to get faster broadband , but I’m not holding my breath !Aside from that I’ve cleaned the kitchen and bathroom,  and done two loads of washing ….so not a totally wasted day .I  have also ordered an electric heat weeder which I hope will help get rid of the weeds in my patio and drive . I don’t want to use weed killer cos of the pets and wildlife , but it’s back breaking having to pull them out by hand , and I know Ros has one and says it’s good , so fingers crossed . I hope everyone else is having a good day , whatever you are up to .

Yes, been watching LI, i record it first but am up to date, well a day behind.

The work on my teeth is pretty cheap but i need 2 fillings and 1 extraction, with a scrape and clean at end of July.

Baz, i have the smart metre, its in the hall by the electric cupboard, i have turned the heating off for the summer, the weeds in your patio etc can be removed temporary but thats all, to remove to start with a big wire brush is best, the flame methos i also have but its temporary, so is any weed killer, if you dont spray the weeds as soon as they appear which goes to the root then all is lost, they will all be back again, you bet.

My lad has moved again, hw is travelling for just a few hours then staying in an Airbnb or somewhere, and if its a nice area etc he stays longer, he is in a Jungle hut at the moment,

Aaww poor you, sorry you had a bad night and woke so early with a panic attack and tummy ache. So you did well still managing to get out for your walk. Hope you are ok tonight.

Hope the telecoms work improves your broadband. Think they have a new type now as ours can be slow, but you have to book an engineer to come in your house and sign for 18 months, so haven't bothered yet.

Yes the utility bills are going to be so expensive this autumn, we will all need to think twice what we use. More teddy purchases immintent for me this autumn I reckon? Talking of which, I swopped to my thin summer quilt, but felt so chilly I dug out my teddy quilt cover again to put on it. So I have good use of it this year.

We too have a heat weeder and they are much better than using chemicals, so hope you get on with it.

I enjoyed our Dinner show this week and it was a good result the end of the week.

not a bad day here weather wise. So I got lots of washloads dried quickly in the sun and wind and sat out doing my puzzles for awhile.

MrM's old car finally given up, so he is sharing son's car now, so he was rushing around after work sorting MOT etc out today, as it needed new battery and tyres.

Feeling bit better again today, but I thought that last night, then had to got to bed around 8 feeling nauseous. Only been eating very lightly for over 2 weeks now. I reckon you were right Baz and it could have been omicron, as a few round here seem to have covid now. Being older it has taken me longer to get rid of it than the boys, but even they are still coughing.

I forgot to say i was at the hospital Urology outpatient today to see what plans are ahead for my kidney stones i still have, another stone in the left kidney needs blasting, they said they could start with the ultrasound vibration to see if it will break up, 2 attempts can be made using that method, if that fails i would need to go to plan B, i have stones in the right kidney but smaller so ok for now.

Meant to say, they will contact me later in the year, they will send a letter, i image maybe for August, hope not later.

Will be taking a trip to the café Sunday, if no one comes here i will get a taxi, no problem.

The garden is growing like mad, have millions of potato plants growing and i haven't grown them for years, but you can never get them all out, i didnt want any to grow as they are so cheap to buy at the time they can be taken from the ground.

Hope the cough soon goes, and you can get back to normal eating.

Glad you slept a bit better Baz, i slept ok, haven't done much, managed to get to the café after waiting 45 mins for a taxi with a card machine, had a lovely brekkie then went over the road to a McColls store, the assistant helped me get some nice goodies like baking spuds, strawberries, eggs, milk etc, then a 45 min wait for a taxi to go hame again.

Hope Mollie has had a better weekend and can get back to normal soon, that cold/whatever sure kicked you into touch,

The next kidney stone on the left side is the 6mm one which needs treatment to get rid, the stones in the right will come into the scene after the left side is sorted as they arent such a problem just now.

Tried the chipper and the deep fryer again for chips and had 3 fried eggs with them, nice.

Have put the dishwasher on to tidy all the dishes up as the cleaners are here tomorrow, and they will either wash them or dump them all in the dishwasher.

I took one of the cucumbers off the plant in the greenhouse and cut up and pickled, there are 3 more which i will cut off when i can give them away as more are growing, the instructions say they can grow to 40cm, Toms are coming on as well, also the grapes in the greenhouse are doing well.

Afternoon Meanies Quite sunny here today , but I’ve not been able to go for a walk cos I was waiting in for a package this morning , plus my M&S delivery ….and this afternoon I’m expecting my meds delivery .So, I’ve not really done a lot , just caught up on the washing , dusted , and fed the wildlife . Bin men haven’t been so far either ! I hope your day has been more productive than mine .

How nice you got out to the cafe for brekkie and managed to do a bit of shopping. Such a shame you had to wait so long for taxis though. Have you thought of getting a carer in for a few hours a week? (as you probably know, they are not just for personal care, but can help with anything).

In the early days , as she got older, my mum used to have one just to take her out, which was great as her carers were insured to take their clients out in their cars to help them go shopping, or just out for a meal. If you did fancy enquiring, then social services may be able to advise you if they can offer any free care hours, or maybe it wouldn't be too expensive?

Or maybe if you did know which day you would like to shop or go to the cafe, you could make a long term booking special rate with a taxi company for the same hours each week, so you dont' need to wait so long? I also used a regular taxi company who offerred me a speical rate.

I am feeling a lot better at long last, just the odd cough now and again and have my appetite back again at last. So was able to enjoy my fave Jersey potatoes again.

Very warm here today, got overheated even sitting under my sun umbrella this afternoon, so came indoors. At least it is nice and cool at night so far. Not looking forward to the heatwave to come though.

Yes, the cleaners came, not a lot needs doing really, they vac the floors and mob, dust all surfaces, clean and disinfect work surfaces, clean filters in machines, empty kitchen bins although i say they needn't.

The Podiatrist came this morning, so toenails are sorted, i try to keep appointments down to a minimum as i hate to be tied down to days and dates/times, a carer would only be a help if they were here 24/7 otherwise i can manage really, also my lad can take me for a shop now and again but in general i have tons of food and if i can shop at McColl which is open 7 days a week then i can get some items after i have brekkie.

Getting a taxi to the café isn't really a problem, a bit of a wait for a taxi doesn't really matter that much, and most of the drivers know i always give them a tip and round up the bill on their card reader

Had a walk around the garden to see all ok, gave the plants in the greenhouse some Tomorite, i have a 40L tub of water in the greenhouse, i fill it with a hose from my water butt, i have 2 of those, then i measured the feed into the tub so i could then fill a small watering can and water the plant tubs until my new watering bag arrives, you shouldn't feed fruit plants until they have fruit on so i am ok as they all have fruit.

Afternoon Mollie and Hicky  Very warm here today . Not a bad night , so I went for a walk this morning , but the air felt  *heavy *…so it wasn’t very pleasant .  It’s due to be even hotter on Friday !   I will need to go out tomorrow to post my grandsons birthday card , but if it’s anything like today then it will be quick walk to the postbox …about a 2k round trip ….and then straight home again ! Aside from that I have done  some washing , hoovered , a bit of tidying up in the back garden,  and that’s me done for the day .I hope everyone else is having a good Thursday , and managing to stay cool.

Mollie , I hope you are still feeling better and managed to stay cool today  ….I love jersey royals too …but they have to have lashings of lurpak on them .I will see you for CDWM tonight , and will be hoping tonight’s woman falls flat on her face .Hicky , I have a similar problem as I don’t drive either .  used to use a regular taxi firm,  but since covid I don’t really go anywhere any more .Glad your cleaners came ok …they sound great .

Glad you didn't have a bad night, pity it was a bit stuffy for your walk, but at least it sounds like this really hot weather will not last long. But yes for tomorrrow, sounds like it will be best for you not to be out walking for long, as it will get too unpleasant with the sun being so strong.

Very hot in our garden this afternoon, so I didn't sit out for long. Gone a bit cloudy now, which I am pleased about, as the sun was beating through the windows.

I too think Jerseys are best served with lashings of butter.

It is lucky you have found such a good cleaners to help you. Yes that is the only problem with carers, you are tied down, timing wise. So I guess a taxi suits you best as you don't mind waiting for them, and you can just go out when you feel like it.

We don't have Mcolls stores round here. Are they big supermarkets?

At least it was a nice day to walk round your garden today.

I am back to eating normally now, thank goodness but me and the boys are still coughing now and again.

Pretty warm here today, 25c in the shade and also in the Bungalow, but 30c in the Man Cave, didnt do a lot, checked the garden, adjusted the drip on the greenhouse plants, 2 more cucumbers ready again.

Had kipper and bacon and egg for brekkie, all simmered in the same cast iron pan.

For tea, had a 3 course, chicken soup with Sui Mai. Corn on the cob, and a plaice fillet, makes a change, having salt cod for brekkie in the morning with 2 fried eggs.

Been juggling the tv tonight as had 4 programs to watch, darts on 426, F1 on 435, Quest on 12 and Aussie Gold Hunters on DMAX 39.

I am thinking of a change to my bread making, after watching a baker talk on tv Sunday when he was asked about people's loaves not rising as they should, he said it's usually because they have got the dough too dry because with it being sticky they add flour, this is not what you should do, it's needs to stay soft and wet while it is kneaded, but it will dry after 10 minutes, then it will be fine, knead until the dough can be stretched without tearing.

Afternoon Mollie and Hicky  Well summer didn’t last too long .It’s overcast and cool today , but that suits me .After my marathon yesterday I’m having a very lazy day today .All I’ve done is the duvet shuffle , some washing, anti bac’d the Sainsbury delivery ,  and a bit of dusting . The most strenuous thing I’ve done all day is moved the unit in the bedroom cos I managed to drop  my engagement ring behind it !I had to take a couple of drawers to move it cos it’s very heavy , then I couldn’t get the bliddy things back in !Anyway , I hope everyone else is having a good Saturday .

Mollie , I hope your weekend is going well .Did you enjoy Gogglebox ? Glad we agree about our jersey royals . Rotten result for CDWM last week …but hopefully next week will be more to our taste….and whatever , it was great fun  .Hicky , I hope changing the doughs consistency will make a better load for you . I’ve recently got hooked on Nothing to Declare Australia  and Border Control NZ .

Cooler here today but greenhouse vine looking short of water, it is growing outside, not in a pot so i have been allowing the water butt hose to lay on the slate with it running, hope it might help.

That's bad luck Baz dropping your ring, can't be helped, you could have waited till someone was there to help you.

Hope Mollie is still ok, glad she is a lot better.

I think i messed up again with the loaf, my error was to put all the required water in, think i should have tested first as it was pretty sticky, or more like very sticky, couldn't knead it at all so left it in the mixer for 10 minutes, still couldn't really knead the dough so let it rise then tried again, put oil on the work surface and did a bit of a knead then put in loaf pan, after quite a while it had hardly risen so left it and got my tea, but forgot about it as i was watching tv, have darts and F1 to watch, when i went to the kitchen for a coffee i saw the loaf tin, had not put the timer on and the dough was at the top of the tin so put the oven on quick, put the loaf in at 190c but wasn't sure what time it needed as the video was for 6 rolls and wanted 15 minutes so think i left it in too long, another learning curve, it seems ok, will slice it when cold,
