Hope you all slept ok last night.

Mrs H didn't sleep again, she doesn't rest much during the day either, she did have a swing outside for an hour.

My plants arrived ok, not damage, plant one of them in the greenhouse will plant the 2 peppers and 3 chillis tomorrow.

A rash can be serious, it's what it is telling you, it's a warning usually, so needs to be watched.

Baz, oh dear, sorry you had a bad night, not what you need is it, at least you had a walk, the lamb chops and jersey royals would be nice.

Mrs H has an Covid test appointment in a drive through car park at a hospital some way away, one of my lads is taking her, her tests are scheduled for the 17th.

I had 3 sausages for brekkie and tonight i had 2 kebabs and a quarter pound burger in a seeded burger bun with 2 layers of mustard & tom sauce.

Glad your plants are doing well, as long as they can get established and kept moist till then all will be fine.

Just watched Salvage Hunters, now Scrap Kings, then Jade, gold etc and some recordings.

Glad you were pleased with your B and Q delivery. MrM is pleased with his B and Q plants, but is having problems with the slugs eating his plants! So annoying. He tried putting salt down but they still demolished a couple of them, so he bought some pots today to put them in.

Good job your lad is able to take her for her covid test as it is some way away.

Daughter told me all patients had to have a test in A and E before they were admitted to hospital. She said there was an old lady there with dementia and it took hours of gentle pursuasion from several nurses before they could talk her into it. Poor old thing.

Not an easy time for you and MrsH whilst waiting for the tests. At least you have a date now. Is she still taking the steroids?

I had salad and pizza for tea, I love the bagged salad we got from Costco, it has a good variety, eg shreeded purple cabbage, carrot, broccoli, with a bag of sweet onion sauce, and a bag with cranberries and cashews.

Went on son's rowing machine, so didn't bother going for a walk today.

Managed 7 and half mins, so still have some time to get to my aim of 15 mins yet.

Cooler and cloudy today, with a few short showers, but quite warm.

Yes, always good food from Costco, your salad sounds good, the rowing machine will do you good as long as you don't overdo it.

how Is MrsH today?  Not nice for her with the waitng game she is having to do. You said she has the covid test on the 14th and hospital tests on 17th, is that still right? Its good your lad has arranged time off, especially if she may have to stay in for the hospital test. Do they still have her on the steroids to help the inflammation?

Cloudy today, but quite warm, and its been raining tonight.

Managed to sit on the swingchair to read for awhile before the rain.

Went on the rowing machine instead of going for a walk today.

Watching Supervet now. He is incredibly good and dedicated with what he does.

Daughter not too bad today, eat quite well but rested in bed today, and her rash on her face has eased a little. Wonder if what she eats,mixed with the antibiotics affects her rash, we will keep an eye on it.

Hope Baz slept ok last night and feels a bit better today.

Afternoon Mollie and Hicky  I hope everyone is having a good day . Not a great day for me ….I hardly slept at all ….and it’s my anniversary today  , so there have been quite a few tears chez Baz But I’ve tried to throw myself into the housework…cleaned kitchen , changed duvet , washed , ironed , fed birds , and  sorted my M&S delivery. I also went for a walk , cos I needed to go to the cash point and get some money for the tree surgeon who is cutting back a tree in my back garden that has been causing problems for a neighbour . Aside from that I’ve had some lamb chops and a small glass of wine for my lunch.

Mollie, glad your daughter is eating better , and I hope her rash is clearing up ok . …although it would be good to find out what caused it ….especially if it’s an allergy . Sewing Bee was good ….if very grrrrrrrr. Ros and I watched Supervet too ……he’s amazing ….and three good results this week .Well done on the rowing  machine ….don’t think my thighs could cope with that .Hicky , how is Mrs H today ? It’s nice that your son is taking time off to be with her ( and you ) , I’m sure it will be a comfort to Mrs H knowing he is there .My gardener planted up my front beds with some New Guinea Bizzie Lizzies yesterday ….so even more to water .

Hi MollieJust popped in cos I saw your post . Poor Hicky .I had noticed he wasn’t around when I posted yesterday , but like you I presumed it was something to do with his wife . Poor Hicky must have become very poorly quickly if he was in ITU. At least we know he is getting better.

Awwww thanks Mollie Poor Hicky , like you say , let’s hope he is home and fit again by the time Mrs H has to go for her tests . Afternoon Mollie and  Hicky .Well it was supposed to be wall to wall sunshine here ….but ,while the sun has peeped through now , it’s been cloudy all day .Still , at least it wasn’t too hot for my 4K walk this morning . Apart from that I’ve not really done a lot ….just cleaned the patio, watered the plants and tidied the kitchen. …not  even any washing .I had some nice lamb chops for lunch , and now I’ve firmly parked my rear on the sofa . yes I too like payment day on "4 In a Bed", some do really get annoyed at this stage. No surprise realy though,  as some are real game players and can stop payment for pathetic reasons.

That is good that it wasnt too hot for your 4k walk, It was far too hot here today, so MrM made a BBQ as I didn't fancy cooking indoors. I had halloumi and salad, the others had chicken and sausages.

Afternoon Mollie and Hicky  Cloudy all morning , but the sun is out now . I had a day off my walks today, so I’ve not really done a lot ….although I did clean the outside downstairs windows ( my window cleaner seems to have gone awol ) , cleaned kitchen , dusted and fed the birds .  Aside from that I had  nice M&S pork steak for my lunch .I hope everyone else is having a nice relaxing Monday as well .

Mollie , I’m glad Hicky is on the mend …hopefully he will be back soon Yes, I creased up at them all watching Naked Attraction .I’m not sure when normal Bake off starts , but Bake Off the Professionals is on again Tuesday at 8 ….if you fancy joining us .

Afternoon Mollie and Hicky .Sunny here today , but not muggy …yet . I didn’t sleep too badly last night , so I went for a stroll this morning ….over 4K ….and posted one of my grandsons birthday card . Apart from that I’ve not done a lot , just cleaned kitchen , ordered my meds , sorted out a present , watered the plants , fed the birds and rescued the bin . I had some yummy M&S  bacon chops for lunch , and now I intend doing naff all for the rest of the day .I hope everyone else is having a good Tuesday too .

Mollie , sounds like you were even more busy than me ….6 loads of washing . I must admit when you said Hicky had been in ITU I thought it sounded a bit more than a water infection . I hope he is ok . Glad your sons drama group is meeting again at last .I will definitely see you for BO at 8 ….be interesting to see what the second batch of contestants are like .

Weather good here again too, not as stuffy as it has been but warm in the sun.

We went to the seafront, daughter went down seafront in her scooter, she is tired tonight, but enjoyed it.

I had one of my fave lime stripy ice cream cones sitting outside the cafe.

It was lovely to see all the cafes open again, lots of people sitting outside all the pubs and cafes.

I texted Hicky again and he just replied that he was ok. Poor thing, he has MrsH and her problems on his mind as well as his own. Let's hope he is home soon.

Enjoyed watching Bake Off with you and the others.   I so want a lemon merinque pie now.

Afternoon Mollie  Sunny , and too warm for me here ….so I only had a short walk ….just over 2k …mainly because I was expecting two deliveries ….one of which has come …one of which hasn’t . Aside from that , I’ve changed the sheets , washed , ironed , cleaned kitchen , sorted my Sainsbury shopping , and watered the plants . I’m hoping it’s going to rain soon , cos the plants really need it . I had some nice lamb chops for lunch , and that’s me done for the day .

I hope Hicky is home again really soon ……it seems to have come right out of the blue , doesn't it .Poor Mrs H must be pulling her hair out,  one way or another they are having rotten luck lately , aren’t they . Yes, I enjoyed Bake Off last night , and it’s Sewing Final tonight ….although I think we can probably guess who is going to win ! I’m green with envy that you can get to the sea so easily …..and id have loved that ice cream . Anyway , hopefully see you at 9 tonight , ready to moan loads !

I heard from HIcky and he says he thinks he will be in hospital another couple of days, then 2 weeks at home, then back for a kidney op. He said he has already had one op. So lets' hope all goes well for him. Yes he does seem to have got very poorly very quickly. Poor thing, such an awful time with MrsH on his mind too. Let' s hope he is well enough to be back posting again here soon.

Afternoon Mollie . Not a great day at chez Baz . But I did manage a three and a half k walk after my delivery finally arrived ! Apart from that I’ve hoovered, cleaned bathroom and kitchen, done a load  of washing , and fed my face ! I hope you are having a better day than me . How is your daughter doing ?  Awwww poor Hicky ….that sounds like more than say a water infection . Like you say , it’s a dreadful time for them all round,I hope he is home again really soon …give him my very best next time you speak to him .Yes, we knew who was going to bliddy win, didn’t we …but I kept hoping they would prove us wrong . Don't know if it will help you but I saw this guy on ITV "Lorraine" today and he was talking about sleep prorblems and he said it is not normal to get a straight 8 hours sleep, but ok to have a nap in the day and if you can't sleep at night, to try not to worry about it, but relax. He said we only have about 4 hours deep sleep a night, so its ok just to relax in bed or take the rest as naps in the day, or just rest our brains in the day. His book is called "Sleep, They Myth of 8 Hours the Power of Naps, and the New Plan to Recharge Your Body and Mind" by Nick Littlehales.

Hot here today , we have had no rain at all. So didnt do a lot. I overdid it on the rower yesterday, so was achy. Went to Lidl this evening to get a bit of food shopping in.

Daughter doing ok thanks still gets exhausted easily, but she did manage to come to Lidl with us.

I texted Hicky today but haven't heard back yet, so hope he is ok. I know MrsH was due in hospital for tests today and might have to stay in, he said, so hope he is ok. So horrible for him today, stuck in hospital himself whilst worrying about Mrs H.

Afternoon Mollie  I had another bad night , and I’m not feeling 100%  , so no walk today . In fact , apart from a small load of washing , and cleaning the kitchen , I’ve done nothing all day except lay on the sofa , cuddling my hot water bottle , snoozing and reading my book . I’ve just had some pork cutlets for my lunch , and now I’m back on the sofa again , watching the Repair Shop .I hope your Friday is going better than mine .

Oooo thanks for the info about the sleep guy ….I will see if his book is online Awww I didn’t know you watch Hotel Inspector …we do too …and of course , there is a thread. Although next week it clashes with Escape to the Chateau ….so we will have to watch one of the programmes on plus 1 . I’m glad your daughter is gradually getting back to normal …even if it is a slow job. I hope poor Hicky , and Mrs H are ok ….it must be awful for them being apart while they are both poorly .Give him my very best wishes next time you text him ….and tell him to hurry up and get his butt back here !

Yes I do watch Hotel Inspector but not always when it airs, sometimes I record it. But didn't realise you had a thread on it,so if I watch it the same time as you, I'd love to join you.

Gogglebox is late tonight then ,so I will probably record it, as I will be tidying up before bed at that time. Can't find anything I want to watch tonight, so I have allowed MrM to watch the footie, (sound mean don't I?) as daughter has the upstairs tv and MrM wanted to see tonight's match. So he has to watch his footie generally on his lappy but I knew he would enjoy England/Scotland on the main tv.

Haven't heard from Hicky for 2 days now, so I am concerned. Let's hope things are going ok for him. The last I heard, he was hoping to be home around now and then a wait at home for 2 weeks for a 2nd op. But I know from experience (as you do) that the hospitals do tend to say you are likely to go home, and then you are there longer than they originally think.

Cloudy all day here today but dry. I don't mind that as it was hot and humid yesterday. The car was still showing 22c when we went to Lidl at 8pm last night!

I went to visit a disabled friend today, we chatted in her garden whilst MrM cleaned down her path with his jet water power thing. I was hoping daughter would come, but she had a "feeling off" day today, because she felt nausea overnight last night. So she couldn't face going out.

Had veggie sausage, mash , peas for tea tonight.

Thanks for your best wishes, i will try to explain my disappearance.

I left home with an infected kidney/stone and returned home after 2 ops with the same kidney stone, maybe minus infection.

I was taken to hospital A&E with a kidney pain, Mrs H took when advised by the doc.
They did an xray, i had a kidney stone blocking the left kidney, causing pain and infection.
The infection was very severe, after antibiotics it had no effect.
They realized i had Sepsis, i needed an op, but with Copd its hard.

They decided i need treatment in 3 stages, stage 1 was to put a drain pipe into the kidney and out my back, i was moved to ICU after that.
Stage 2 was to remove the drain and insert a stent, i was so weak i couldn't eat or function.

I was using a catheter but they don't work on me as they block up, tried their best, but it just kept failing so they had to remove it.
Problem then was, with me not being able to go the loo on my own i had to use a bottle in bed, another nightmare,

I would ask a nurse to take the bottle away, they just said, i'm just seeing to a patient.

Or i'd ask a nurse a question, then she would say, i'n not looking after you, your nurse will be around soon.
This about the nurxe is not in ICU, in there you have a nurse to yourself all day or night.

I' just slept at home last night, i made breakfast, cup coffee, krispies, sausage, a chop

Just watching my favr chef, James Martin.

I have about 2 weeks at home, then i go into hospital for another op to remove the kidney stone.


When will this nightmare end, and Mrs H is very ill as well, bless, so i got an ambulance home as didn't want Mrs H driving.

At least i survived Sepsis.

Yes I do watch Hotel Inspector but not always when it airs, sometimes I record it. But didn't realise you had a thread on it,so if I watch it the same time as you, I'd love to join you.

Gogglebox is late tonight then ,so I will probably record it, as I will be tidying up before bed at that time. Can't find anything I want to watch tonight, so I have allowed MrM to watch the footie, (sound mean don't I?) as daughter has the upstairs tv and MrM wanted to see tonight's match. So he has to watch his footie generally on his lappy but I knew he would enjoy England/Scotland on the main tv.

Haven't heard from Hicky for 2 days now, so I am concerned. Let's hope things are going ok for him. The last I heard, he was hoping to be home around now and then a wait at home for 2 weeks for a 2nd op. But I know from experience (as you do) that the hospitals do tend to say you are likely to go home, and then you are there longer than they originally think.

Cloudy all day here today but dry. I don't mind that as it was hot and humid yesterday. The car was still showing 22c when we went to Lidl at 8pm last night!

I went to visit a disabled friend today, we chatted in her garden whilst MrM cleaned down her path with his jet water power thing. I was hoping daughter would come, but she had a "feeling off" day today, because she felt nausea overnight last night. So she couldn't face going out.

Had veggie sausage, mash , peas for tea tonight.

Afternoon Mollie  I slept a bit better last night, so managed to get a 4K walk in before breakfast . Still no sign of any rain though !Consequently , I’ve been on watering duties…AGAIN ….it’s costing me a fortune in water bills ! Aside from that , my M&S delivery came and is put away , I’ve cleaned the kitchen , down a load of washing and ironing , had some M&S bacon chops for lunch ….and that’s me done for today . I hope you are enjoying your Saturday . I’m sorry your daughter is feeling a bit off again . I thought Celeb Gogglebox was a bit lacklustre last night ……I think they need to change some of the celebs tbh . Naff all on tonight again ….I’ll be glad once the Euros are over !  But have a good evening …and take care .

Oh heck Hicky ….what a total nightmare …..I know how painful kidney stones are , but I am glad you are home again though…even if temporarily .How did Mrs H get on with the scan? I’m so sorry that you are both having such an awful time l But thank you for letting us know.

Problem is, i came out with the same stone i went in with, i was too ill when i wnet in to operate and the infection had really taken hold in the kidney, so when they could, they put a drain in to drain some infection into a bag by my back.

They fought the infection for about 8 day by intravenous antibiotics.

Mrs H had the scan, not sure when you get results, she is very tired and her breathing is bad like mine, she is very ill so am trying to be independant to save using her.

Made my own meals and drinks, managed to watch the F1 qualifying, haven't been out, too unsteady yet, been catching up on forums/threads.

Hope you all have been sleeping ok, i just probably had an hour a night at most, dreadful, i was so tired in hospital i couldn't function. i couldn't keep ny eyes open, so they treated me with them shut.

glad to see you back but I am so sorry you had such an awful time of it. You must still feel very weak after all that, so will need a lot of rest,  especially as it went on to be sepsis. My OH has had kidney stones, so I know what terrible pain they give. Are you still in pain after the ops?

It is so awful that they are so short of staff, when you as a patient, are left waiting for help. Were your family able to visit or were they banned because of covid?  I think it makes it a lot harder on the nurses if family are not around to help patients out with the little things they need. (like sorting the bottle out).

I am so sorry you are worried about MrsH too. I hope the results do not take too long and they can help her out quickly when the results come in.

Thank you so much for making the effort to keep me updated by text, even when you were in ICU. That can't have been easy.I know you got the nurse to help you whilst in ICU. I hope you are not struggling too much to get your food etc sorted. Have you thought about getting a carer in to help because MrsH too needs to rest too?

Have they given you a date yet to go back to have the stone removed? I bet you will be glad to get rid of the damn thing!

No rain here either ,so as you say, the garden needs quite a lot of watering to keep the summer plants going.

Daughter a bit better today but still had to have a rest day in bed today, but ate better.

Yes nothing on tv yet again! I am watching The Crown in Netflix, at least there are lots of episodes to entertain me whilst this footie is on. I am finding it very good. Just realised when I read your post that I haven't watched Gogglebox yet.

Had pizza, sweet potato chips and salad for tea, and peanut butter kit kat as a treat after.

Never had any pain after the first day in hospital, no-one is allowed to visit so i had 9 days without.

I don't have a date for outpatients yet, i will be glad when it's all over.

Getting a bit stronger each day, being able to sleep really makes the difference.

Been eating ok, one of my lads visited and sorted the neglected greenhouse out and planted the 2 peppers and 2 chillies, not sure how they survived waterless for  11 days.

I imagine i have lost a lot of weight, bed early again tonight,

so glad to hear you are getting stronger. I thought you might have lost quite a lot of weight as you were so poorly. Good job you always have so much food in your freezer to keep you going. Is MrsH managing to eat or is she still off her food?

Yes, its so nice to have your own bed back after a stay in hospital, and so you managed a decent sleep at last.

That's good your son came to assist in the garden and your other son sent a video call from Oz.

Its so hard in hospital if they don't allow any visiting. I didn't see daughter the 1st week at all, but when she was in a room on her own, I was allowed to visit. Its good the hospital managed to control the awful pain you were in quickly. Yes I can understand you want this sorted asap now. Do you need to just go in as a day patient to get the kidney stone sorted? Hope you hear back soon.

A dull day here today but ok to sit in the garden for awhile. I did a few puzzles from my magazine. Had new potatoes, cheese and onion pasty and veg for tea. Did 6 mins on the rower as the 10 mins I was doing was making me tired and achy.

Afternoon Mollie and Hicky . I slept a little better last night , so after feeling low, and my lazy day yesterday I’ve got my rear into gear today . I did a 5k walk , dusted , cleaned kitchen , a load of washing …including the cushion covers ….fed birds , and even managed to turn the mattress ….so now I’m knackered . The window cleaner came at last , so even the windows have had a workout .Aside from that , I’ve put the bins out ready for tomorrow and had bacon chops for lunch …..and that’s me done for the day !I hope you are all having a good day , whether it’s lazy or energetic .

The weather here has been quite chilly the last couple of days, in fact, as I was feeling a bit rough,  I actually put the heating on yesterday . TV is rubbish at the moment , isn’t it ….but at least we have Bake Off to look forward to tomorrow .Hicky , I’m glad you are eating a bit better , and able to get a decent nights sleep ….like you say it does make a difference .Can they not zap your kidney stone , like the do for gall stones ? We are both managing to eat something at mealtimes, which is ok.

I am going to bed 2 hours earlier than usual as i need to sleep

Think my lad is going to pop in each day to see what we need or to help out.

I have linked the ipad to my phone with WhatsApp, need for info though from my lad.

For the next op i will have to remain in hospital, maybe in recovery or HDU, they didn't say.

No sun here today, so i stayed in.

I think it's too dangerous to zap the stone as they have to get rid of the debris and don't think that's possible, they were going to zap them before the AAA op, but they postponed it and never went back.

No idea when Mrs H will get the lab results of the biopsy.

Happy Summer Solstice

I made myself wake up at 4am this morning so I could see the livefeed Englist heritage was putting on for sunrise around 4.50am, except they had technical problems and lost the picture! What a waste of time. Although they said it was a techy problem, I did read people climbed the fence to get in, so that was why they stopped the livefeed. Never mind, it was a beautfiul sunrise from my bedroom window.

It is quite cool here for the time of year, but not cool enough to put heating on. I still open windows but I have got a long sleeved T shirt on today.

I agree, tv is rubbish right now. So hard to find something to watch that is interesting.

Undertstandable you need extra sleep after what you recently went through in hospital. Extra rest should help you get your strenght back. That's good you and MrsH are managing to eat at mealtimes and that your son is popping in to help out.

Pity they can't quickly zap that damn kidney stone and you need an op, but I am sure you will be glad to get rid of it for once and all. What does the AAA op you had mean?

HOpe you son can help you work out the ipad ok, you have done well if you have managed to link it to whatsap though.

Is your breathing any better now? Did you say MrsH too is suffering with breathlessness?

Son is at his rehearsals again tonight, he is so pleased they are back on again.

I did some sausages on the BBQ today, going to do some strak tonight, i'll then slice so it cooks instant, i did some mint marinated lamb steaks, dreadful, ruined them.

I am so sorry MrsH has had such very bad news. (I assume from the tests).   Such  a hard time for you both whilst you too have been so unwell.

Shame your marinated lamb steaks were ruined on the BBQ. Hope your steak turns out well and you enjoy it. At least that will give you plenty of protein to help aid your recovery.

Was the AAS op the one you had a long time ago? I remember you going in for a big op a few years ago.

Hope you are getting on ok with the ipad your son bought you.

Lovely day here today, mainly sunny but not too hot.

My friend came for brekkie , along with her daughter's dog, and 16 month old baby. The dog and baby are so cute together. The dog is very placid which is ideal with a toddler around.

Hope Baz slept ok and had a good day. (as busy as ever, I guess!).

Yes, from the test results, nothing can be done, its terminal, omg. i am in shock.

I sliced the steak like they do with smoked salmon, got 5 pieces, did on BBQ, when on plate i gave them a coat of Cajun mix to liven them up., nice.

I can't remember when the AAA op was, think it was some time ago as it was found when looing for kidney stones in the early years using the small scan, pregnancy one.

I've given my lad the iPad back, as i can get WhatsApp on the computer linked to my phone.

I wouldn't let a toddler anywhere near any dog, they turn in a sec, you don't know what the dog is thinking do you, never take a chance, is it worth it, the ones that get attacked always say, its no like him or her to do that, if someone wants to risk it, don't condone it.

Getting tired again, living a nightmare now.

Hicky , I just popped in to say how very, very  sorry I am about Mrs H results .I’ve been in a similar situation with Mr B , so I know a little bit about how crushing it is …..the only suggestion I can make is just to take it a minute at a time.
