Baz

sorry you had a disturbed night again, hope you sleep better tonight.

How exciting you ordered a breadmaker. They take a bit of trial and error to get used to , but it is worth it. We found the wholemeal is hardest to make, so MrM usually ends updoing a mix of white/wholemeal.

Yes I agree it is a pain wiping down the shopping, but I think it does feel safer if we do. I read there has been an outbreak in Iceland and Tesco in Swindon, so don't think we are wasting our time.

https://news.sky.com/story/amp...-in-swindon-12046356

Didn't know M and S were starting deliveries. Hope they do to my area too.

Weather up and down here too, cloudy and a bit wet, but a short spurt of sun too.

Hicky

at you winning yet again at chess.

It is certainly complicated with that tin opener out, but you did right making them aware in the hope it saves others getting caught out too.

Hope you manage to get hold of your gardener to help you out.

Yes this weather is certainly making it difficult to plan how to dry our washing outside.

Yum spuds, spring onion and sweetcorn, that sounds tasty.

Today is our Ruby Wedding Anniversary, so we went out for a Sunday lunch meal with the family to a local village pub. The 1st time in over 5 months we have eaten out.

We picked a well organised pub covid wise and ate in the marque. Apart from a few insects, one of which landed in son's meal just before he finished,   it was fun in the marque. The tables were all more than 2 metres away, and arrivals staggered so no 2 families arrived together. One way walking system too. The food was delicous. Family had chicken or beef and I had veggie sausages. I had toffee/apple cider crumble and ice cream for desert.

Watched Downtown Abbey repeat tonight. It looks like it was the one shown New Years Eve. Oh dear, little did anyone know what we were all due to face when we wished each other Happy New Year 2020.

Stay safe....Goodnight both xxx

M

Hello Mollie.

Played chess again and won.

Got a post from the Ebay seller saying the voltage info is on the site, i replied saying i bought the item from Ebay not their site and theres nothing mentioned on Ebay.

Ruby wedding, very nice, had mine about 7 or 8 years ago now.

At least you got a meal out, it sounded quite an experience, one you will remember anyway.

Yes, that was a happy new year all right, a Covid-19 new year.

Stay safe, stay happy and enjoy your day.

Happy Ruby Anniversary

Evening All.

20c today with sun cloud and thundery showers, had a shower but no thunder.

Picjed the tub of spuds, got 3/4's of a bucket anyway, so pleased.

Had spicey sausages and a plain one with a hash brown and a piece of back bacon, oh and a round of toast.

for tea had a bowl of hot and sour soup then a Monkfish Madras curry and rice.

Been watching some chess matches from the 1860's, good games.

Just managed to get the spuds before the rain started, more than i had expected, great.

The problem not is, with having so much food available picking what tohave is  nightmare.

I have ordered a new can opener, it's a Kenwood so should be ok, we need one because Mrs H has bad arthritic hands and can't manage to turn the manual type and with the ones we usually use it seems rather a struggle.

I'll have to look up what to do with the sweetcorn don't want to pick until i know what to do to preserve them.

Did my washing had to hang it in the bathroom on the pull up/down drying rack, no problem.

Just watching the antiques road trip.

Keep safe, keep smiling and sleep well.

thank you for the lovely Anniversay piccie. I see you are not far off the Golden Wedding stage if you are 8 years ahead of us. It certainly was a different method of having a meal out, I wonder for how long is it going to be the "new normal"? We couldn't book any food or drink until we had booked in via the phone, so they had our details. It is becoming law in Wales that you have to give your details to pubs.

Well done on getting a good harvest of potatoes. I have heard sweetcorn make a nice relish and I saw a recipe recently for sweetcorn rissoles. looked very nice.

Good for you pointing out the info about the tin opener was not on Ebay. HOpefully you will be fine wiht the safer option of the Kenwood.

That's interesting you can watch chess from the 1860's. Was it taken on old movie cameras in black and white?

Had cooked brekkie today as we missed it on our usual Sunday with us going out for lunch instead.

Bit drizzly here today, but managed to take the dog a walk inbetween showers..

Not sure what to watch tonight, might try the drama.

Baz

hope you slept better and had a good day.

have a good evening both xxx

M

Afternoon Mollie and Hicky  I managed to get the bread-maker working , and now the house smells gorgeous Mind you , the proof will come when I take the bread out shortly....wish me luck  Apart from that I had another disturbed night , so I’ve not really done much today . I rescued the bins , done a load of washing and cleaned the kitchen . The weather was very wet first thing , but the sun is out right now . Hope everyone else is having a good day . Bread is out now, and looks ok.....I had a test slice .....and it was yummy

Mollie , belated very happy anniversary .....congratulations.....hope you had a lovely day....your meal sounded gorgeous  Hicky , how can you watch chess from the 1860sHope the new can opener arrive soon and works better than the last one

Not much on tv again tonight .....roll on bake off , scd and Im a celeb Hope you have a good evening , whatever you do . Stay safe

Baz

Evening Mollie & Baz.

Mollie, I seem to be out of step, ow well, 21c taody Tuesday, spicy chicke wings in oven.

It might be 47 yrs married, married 1973 November.

Had one of the sweetcorn before, very nice, thinner than shop ones mind.

The company who sold and sent the can opener to the UK aren't interested and i can't do much with Ebay as i didn't buy it, Mrs H did, she's not IT savvy.

Hi Baz, glad you got the breadmaker working, can't beat the smell of fresh bread, glad it tasted good.

You did an awful lot when you do nothing.

I can watch chess from so long ago because all games were written down so they can be replayed on youtube for the world to see.

Stay safe and sleep well, if possible.

Hicky

both xxx

Baz

Glad to hear you enjoyed your slice of your 1st loaf. I too love the smell of freshly baked bread.

Sorry you had a disturbed night again, so a good idea not to do too much the next day.

I agree, not much on tv tonight, but as you say at least we have some good shows to look forward to in autumn.

Hicky

that's good your sweetcorn is tasty.

Shame you can't do much about the tin opener. I bet MrsH wished she asked you to help check the order before she made it.

Gosh I never knew they wrote chess games down , especially from all those years ago.

Lovely day weather wise here, plenty of sun so sat on swinghchair. Son made mac cheese and OH made a loaf to go with it. We also had sweet potato chips, which were great with the mac cheese as they bought the taste out.

I too had a bad night last night. The pain in my right side ribs is back again (stems from tissue damage when I had that op). I think going out Sunday and sitting on chairs without my cushion probably triggered it. So am back to using my TENS machine and taking ibuprofen for it and just hoping it will clear before long.

Goodnight both xxx

M

Evening Mollie.

I'm still out of step with the posts.

21c here today, with rain, sun, cloud and wind.

Had sausages, tomatoes and mushrooms for brekkie, for tea made smoked peppered mackerel with a potato salad made with course mustard wine vinegar, olive oil etc, quite nice.

My new can opener has arrived, very nice, black & silver with built in bottle opener and knife sharpener and cable storage which is handy.

Spoke to the gardener he's going to try and make it here this week.

I've sent an email message to Ebay support to see what they say, it might come to nothing.

Most of the chess games have 1 of a list of standard openings, some players from the past always played the same opening, if they were playing white of course, but all games seem to have been recorded one way or another.

Thats great when son makes mac and cheese and o/h bakes a loaf, can't beet that.

Thats not good, the pain in your side coming back, you can do without that, but you can only do what needs doing.

My lad said his leg feels dead as the nerves were cut and could take another 6 weeks before he can walk, it doesn't seem right to me.

Have a good evening, find something to watch and sleep well.

Hicky

both xxx

Baz

hope you slept ok and had a good day. I bet you are enjoying your home baked bread. Did you make a white/brown or mixed one?

Hicky

it will be interesting to see if you hear from ebay. We usually have had no trouble getting stuff redelivered or refunded if we had a problem with them.

Was it home made potato salad or a bought one? I love it, but like to buy the Extra special type or and M and S/Sainsbury ones as the cheaper ones from places like asda/tesco can sometimes not be so tasty.

Hope the gardener can fit you in and the rain stays away for him.

Sorry to hear your son's knee is still a problem. Did they tell him to expect his knee to feel numb and that he could't walk for another 6 weeks, or do you think something went wrong in the op? Hope not and hope he recovers soon.

Pain in my ribs disturbed my sleep again, so got up to use my TENS machine, it does seem better than it was tonight, so am hoping I'll get a bit more sleep tonight.

Very wet here all morning, but dried up to get some sun this afternoon, so sat out in the swingchair.

Took dog a walk with son and OH but an elderly 14 year old dog outwalked me and I had to come home! And my dog only saunters now. My ribs started to hurt and I didn't want to push myself, so came home to rest. It seems ok now whilst sitting.

Watching a drama about Bobby Moore tonight. Quite good as it is from his wife's book about their lives.

Goodnight both xxx

M

Evening Mollie.

I'll see what Ebay say, of course i didn't buy the item which could make it awkward, Mrs H never thought anyting about buying from the USA as she imagined any good coming here would work here.

I made the potato salad, it was just potato sliced, a separate mixture of wine vinegar, olive oil and course grain mustard, mixed then into the potatoes you add slice beetroot mix then add flaked smoked peppered mackerel mix then add the mixture and mix.

They said my lads leg should recover feeling in the next 6 weeks, well it's felt dead for the last 6 weeks, they told him he should be able to walk in 6 weeks.

You will have to take it esy going out with this rib pain, see if it eases up.

I've been watching a new opening on one of the chess channels, the London Opening, it's interesting.

I can always find things to watch or do, have put the new can opener in the kitchen loads of room for it, tested it runs, haven't tested it with a can yet, it also has a bottle opener and knife sharpener built in which seems to be motorised as well because you can press the start lever whil sharpening a knife.

Stay safe, keep smiling and sleep well.

Hicky

Afternoon Mollie and Hicky   Sunny , but getting very breezy .....and storm tomorrow apparently After a good nights rest on Tuesday , I slept terribly last night .....I had a nightmare....so I’m very weary  But I did manage to go for a walk this morning ....and I cleaned the bathroom , kitchen and did some washing .....then I crashed out after lunch and had a Nanna nap Hope you are both  having a good day .

Mollie , I make white bread ....I love granaryM  but sadly I  can’t eat it since I developed ibs ! I’ve worked out that the 1lb loaf lasts me two days ....first one fresh , second day toasted I’m going to try out the fast mode tomorrow  (one and a half hours instead of three ) I’ll let you know how it goes By the way , E4 is running old Gogglebox episodes between 9-11 on Wednesdays , if you’re interested Hicky , just reading all the cram into a day wears me out Your potato salad sounds yummy . Like your sons leg I still have some numb patches on my foot .....I think it can take between 6 months and a year for my ankle to get back to normal . Is he still in a brace ?

Escape to the Chateau and a programme about Aspreys for me tonight I hope you both have a good evening and stay safe

Baz

Evening Baz.

You can do without nightmares, a good sleep is so good next day.

It was 22, today with sunny ontervals and a fresh breeze.

had brown crab meat on bread for brekkie with sliced tomato.

For tea had 2 of the Californian Reaper Burger and french fries with ketchup.

The gardener rang said he will be 15 mins, great, he started getting rid/cut down the growth that is trying to get through the fences.

He started at the bottom left section, he lifted and wedged a fence panel then cut his way into the gap that is between the fence and the railings that used to ne an old sub station, long ago, ha can walk along the otyher side of the fence cutting the growth down, then he started on another section, did a lot but ran out of time, he will come back when he gets the time or the rain stops his main jobs.

Can't you add 10% of wholemeal flour into the bread mix if you can't add seeds, ,better for you really, white bread is not really good, maybe its ok home made.

Don't think my lad is still using the brace, he showed me a video of him on the peddle machine in the Gym and he does 10 minutesd of that no problem, but standing on it is still.

Stay safe and keep baking and smiling.

There's millions if interesting videos online so you could never run out, i also like looking at the massive machines they use in mining or agriculture.

Hicky

Baz

Sorry to hear you had a good night but it was followed by a bad one with nightmares. Not very nice at all. Hope it is better tonight.

I thought bread other than white may upset your IBS as it is harder to digest. That is handy a loaf lasts you 2 days, and you can use it for toast on day 2.

It has been a slow fix it job on your ankle but its good progress you can now go out a walk on it.

Hicky

your potato salad certainly sounds better than any shop bought one.

At least your son has a rough time estimate of how long it will be until he is ok to walk well again. sounds like he is doing similar special exercise like MrsH had to do. Is her knee fully ok now  post op?

That's good the gardener could come to you so quickly, hope he can get back soon and that the rain keeps off for him to finish.

I think home made white bread is quite good for you as it doesn't have all the addatives shop sliced white bread does.

We have bought a granary mix, MrM not sure if he will get the bake right, but if he does, it should be nice.

Nice day here today, warm in the sun even though it was a bit breezy. Again they said it would be stormy and it wasn't at all. Got all my washing dried nicely.

Pain in the ribs much eased now, I will have to pay attention to what I do now as I don't want to set it off again.

Not sure what I will watch tonight,, probably the same as Baz.

Have a good evening both xxx

M

Evening Mollie.

Been playing chess with No. 5 son, he won last night, lucky though, but he lost tonight and i was black, a good game though.

He plays chess as he can't do a lot with his leg i suppose, yes Mrs H had to do the peddling exercise all the time to get the muscles strong.

The gardener will come if it rains, if it's noce he will be busy elswhere, he came today because he had 2 hours free.

I see what you mean about the shop white bread, good point, me and my BIL always now put 50g of seed in each 2LB loaf, its so good, we get the wholefoodsonline  mixed bread seed, he gets his flour there as well.

It was lovely apart from the wind but i put my washing i did Monday out to air, it was dry anyway but i like it in the sun to be sure.

Yes, try not to do anything that will agrivate your ribs, you must know what that is.

I've just had How do they do it recordings on for hours as i have 80 in stock.

My lad sent me a copy of his Degree certificate, fantastic, he should have plenty of letters after his name now

Stay safe, eat ewell and sleep well.

Hicky

Evening All.

Hope you slep well, Baz and Mollie.

20c today with some rain and a strong wind.

Had 3 sausages, 2 hash browns and a small tin of beans with a round of toast, 2pm had a ro;; mop, love pickled fish.

For tea i defrosted one of my cauli cheese meals, added some parmesan cheese on top and heated in oven, got some spuds from the garage, cleaned them and put them in the machine to scrape them, boiled and had with the cauli cheese.

Had another game of chess, won the one yesterday and won today as well, having a rest now so i can study games from the grand masters of old, and new.

No F1 this weekend so have to wait till next week, will sort out what to do the weekend.

I've got brown shrimps so will have a sandwich for super.

Have a good evening, stay safe and sleep well.

Hicky

Baz

hope you slept well last night and had a good day.

I am missing Gogglebox on Friday evenings, but at least I do enjoy watching Vera on itv instead.

Hicky

That's unusual for your son to beat you at chess.

that;s good MrsH has persisted with her exercises on the mini cycle. I am still using the rower as it seems to help a lot.

Thanks for the wholefoods info, I will look at that site for seeds as we haven't had a seeded loaf home made yet.

I bet you are proud of your son's certificate.

That sounds like a good brekkie to keep you going.

I had 2 slices of Hovis seeded bread and some baked beans for brekkie.

Your cauli cheese tea sounds delicious. I never thought to try Parmasan on top of it, so will have to get some in.

We had oven chips and some wholemeal flat breads that I added Costco tomato paste, grated cheddar and mascapone on top. With veg...

Had one of these new cornettos, they are delicious, I had the Salted Caramel one.

https://www.thesun.co.uk/money...thwatering-flavours/

Very windy here today, but luckily not much rain, only little odd shower, so doggie got a short walk, not too far as I am being carefull with my rib pain, which luckily is a lot better today as I didn't need ibuprofen nor the TENS machine. Just a few sit downs suffaced.

My son got his unconditional offer for the year3 of his BSc course,  so starts in September. All lectures this year to be online, which is fine by him as it saves him paying for travel and time to travel into the city. Hopefully his practical stuff will be sorted next year in small groups if necessary.

Tv time, have a good evening both xxx

M

Evening Mollie.

I should have been him at chess yesterday but it was touch and go at the end, a close game, but we both make too many mistakes, the chess programs on these sites are very good but pretty complicated so he called me up on Whatsapp and we have a vid call so i could show him what i was seeing on my screen and what he was seeing on his, the problem is there is so much on the screen that only 2/3rds is visible without scrolling down.

Yes wholefoodsonline have everything know to man/woman, https://www.buywholefoodsonline.co.uk/

Bread seed page: https://www.buywholefoodsonlin...d-for-bread-1kg.html

5KG Strong White flour:https://www.buywholefoodsonlin...akers-flour-5kg.html

5KG Wholewheat flour: https://www.buywholefoodsonlin...wheat-flour-5kg.html

Dried Yeast for bread and machines: https://www.buywholefoodsonlin...ried-yeast-250g.html

Of course i am proud, he is a claver lad, like all of them, they have exceeded any expectations i ever had, i couldn't ask for more.

I got some (6) Mango smoothies, i didn't put them on my order as they haven't been in stock but Mrs H noticed them and got 2 packs of 3.

Those new ice creams look good, it hasn't been hot enough for ice cream this week.

Yes you take it easy with your ribs but you need a little walk like doffie.

That was good your son getting his offer for his course, thats great news, yes online has money savings as well of course.

Just been watching chess masters instructing in chess classes, great watching the masters.

Stay safe and keep smiling, sleep well.

Afternoon Mollie and Hicky  Happy Saturday Sunshine and showers here ...and quite breezy . I didn’t sleep too badly last night . Today I’ve changed bedding , washed and ironed , anti bac’d shopping , fed birds and cleaned kitchen ....so quite a productive day ...for me

Mollie , congratulations to your son Does that mean he will study from home ?  Glad your ribs are a little better.....make sure you don’t overdo it though Hicky , oooo thanks for those links ....they seem very reasonable...I will definitely order from them  And congratulations to your son too

I am going to watch a programme on C5 tonight ....about George V .....and then a programme about Hadrian .....so a history fest for me Hope you have a good evening , whatever you are doing Stay safe

Baz

Evening Baz.

19c today with possible light rain showers and a fresh breeze.

Glad you got some sleep, you do an awful lot of work a day, why?

I had 2 manx kippers for brekkie, grilled, so lovely.

Midday had a rollmop, for tea had Chinese style mini pork ribs, tasty.

the gardener managed another couple of hours which is great, he managed to lift another fence section to get behind on the far right of the garden, he cut down all growth that was threatening the fences.

I need him for another session on weeds, the weeds cant grow in the ground but they try to survive in just the 20mm blue slate.

I've been watching more chess game moves from the past, there are so many video's, great fun, son will probably want a game soon as well.

Last night i just left recordings on, the show "how do they do it" has 80+ recordings and i just press ok and it plays the next, this is while i an playing chess.

Stay safe, have a good Sunday and sleep well, if you can, and take it easy tomorrow, its Sunday.

Baz

same type of weather here too today.

Glad you slept quite well, you have been busy too.

Yes son will have to study from home the rest of the year, but see fellow students on zoom meetings and lectures. Then the Uni will review it next January. (I suspect they will still need to be mostly online study).

Enjoy your history viewing tonight. It is recorded stuff for me as I don't fancy any tv shows tonight, starting with Antiques Roadshow.

Hicky

its nice you can play chess online with your son, but pity you have to scroll down to see it all.

Thank you for the wholefoods links, I never knew you could buy seeds like that for the bread. Handy for us as we fancy giving seeded a go. Also I have had a lot of trouble getting yeast from the supermarkets so that will be really useful.

Well spotted to MrsH finding your mango Smoothies again. I have noticed my supermarket deliveries since covid often run out of the odd things, which they didn't used to do pre-covid. But as long as they soon come back, that's not too bad. I couldnt' get any oranges at all one week, then no lemons or limes the next one, which was a bit annoying.

I know it is a bit cool for ice cream, but I still couldn't resist another of my caramel cones today.

That's lucky your gardener managed to get some work done for you.

Hope he can make it back soon, I expect now crusies haven't been going, he has a bit more time recently.

Enjoy your chess game and How Do They Do it.

We have OH's home made loaf (white today) with camabert, and salad for tea.

Doggie got a walk, MrM and I sat in garage for a change of scenery and I read my book whilst he did his painting. It was too windy to sit outside today.

Goodnight both xxx

M

Evening Mollie.

I don't have to scroll down during  game. it's just when i am analysing the game after the match to see the moves we did wrong, the there is too much info to show on the screen then.

Yes, wholefood are very good, i never make bread without the seeds, neither does BIL and he gets his flour and seed from there, they have everything you ever needed.

The problem with ordering your shopping on line, they only make it up overnight the day before delivery so depending on whatr day you are set for delivery will control which foods are in stock maybe Mrs H sometimes can't get my shrimps on Thursday, but she might see them on Saturday morning.

Its nice when you can have your O/H's loaf, so handy and delish.

Had a vid call from Oz this morning, its so strange with the time zone, 12am here 9pm in Oz.

I'll send you a picture of the grapes in the greenhouse, it only shows some as the grapes go all round on 3 layers, they not ready for 7 weeks, they are so havy i have to keep supporting the strainer wires from the roof, it might be a good job i cut 50 bunches off, it might have grought the roof down.

Glad you got a walk with doffie, stay safe and sleep tight.

Hicky

Evening All.

Hope Baz & Mollie slept well and had a good Sunday.

Cool again today at 19c with light rain now and again and a fresh breeze.

Had bacon eggs mushrooms tomatoes, sliced cold fried spuds & toast.

2pm had a shrimp and mayo sandwich, for tea had steak and french fries.

Been watching chess vids today from the grand masters.

To break the day up i made a coffee in the Summerhouse/Manshed, will have to look whats on TV tonight.

Stay safe, stay happy and sleep well.

hope you slept ok and had a good day.

Hicky

yes that must be the problem with the deliveries, eg I had one arrive at 9am today and you could adjust it up till midnight, so they only have hours to make it up and get it to the customer. Can't complain though, it is just usually a few things missing and means I don't have to go to the supermarket.

That's nice you had a video call, yes it is odd to think their timings and seasons are so different to ours.

It was cool and cloudy here today, but we did manage a bit of sun, so I sat on the swingchair, but not for long as the wind was too strong.

Like you, I too had a cooked brekkie, my fave was the crisp and golden fried bread (MrM's home baked).

Its handy you can break up your day by a visit to your manshed. Me and MrM like to go in the garage for a change of scenery.

We sometimes have a glass of wind and some peanuts in there.

Goodnight both.

hope you sleep well xxx

M

Evening Mollie.

I keep forgetting to make the fried bread, used to make it at the old house but that was years ago.

I can make coffee in the manshed but my stock of peanuts and pork scratchings are in the house or i would eat them all outside.

I have plenty of booze etc in the house and garage but we dont drink.

Just been watching the grandmasters of the chess world, so good.

Stay safe, keep smiling and sleep well.

Afternoon Mollie and Hicky I had a terrible day yesterday....both emotionally and physically. I feel marginally better than yesterday  but I’m very tired ....I fell asleep on the sofa this morning ....I’d only sat down for 5 minutes  Consequently, I’ve not done an awful lot today ....just some washing and I made another loaf of bread . Now all  I’ve got to do is remember to put the bin out  My gardener was supposed to come and tidy up the Virginia creeper , but he’s not turned up yet....and looking at the weather for the next couple of days....which looks dire .... he won’t be coming tomorrow  . Anyway , I hope you are all having a good day , whatever you are doing .

Mollie, it’s good that you son can do his course from home ....ain’t technology wonderful ....this darn pandemic would be even more of a nightmare without it ! I think two of my grandkids will actually have to go back to uni in a couple of weeks though ....although I’m not 100% sure . How are your ribs now ?  Hicky , I’ve been quite lucky with my shopping deliveries ...especially since the first couple of weeks after lockdown .....just the odd missing item ....but I’ll be pleased when M&S comes on line next week Your man shed sounds fun....Mr B used to escape to the garage when he needed *time out *

Jaimie Oliver for me tonight , then More 4 and the Zoo Down Under Hope you both have a good evening and stay safe

Baz

Evening Baz,

You are worn out with lack of sleep and doing too much in the day, you need to pace yourself and spread the jobs out more.

My Manshed is 10ft square (3x3m) and has thosw big build yourself stackable shelving, the walls are covered in fixed wooden slats with screws in to hang stuff, all the tools are hanging up, not much i haven't got because everything i noticed i needed i just bought, the shelf area must a total of 40ft x 2ft, the garage has loads of shelving, the stackable type as well.

Of course, you prefer shopping with M&S, i didn't realise they did online food shopping, i always did a M&S shop at the local food hall if i got the offer, the variety/choices are fantastic, quality as well.

I had sausages for brekkie, roll mop at 2pm, a portion of steak caserole from the freezer for tea and will have a shrimp sandwich at 8.30pm.

Had a delivery, just more glasses wipes from Zeiss, i get the 200 pck boxes.

I will find something to watch tonight but i may be watching chess games of the grandmasters which i have done basically most of the day.

Got the hospital in the morning for the eye clinic Mrs H working at 9.15 so i either get there at 9am of get a taxi at 10:15am.

Have a good evening, and take it easy and sleep well.

sorry you had a bad day, physically and emotionally. Physically was that pesty IBS bothering you again? Glad you feel a bit better, and you are right not to overdo it when you have had a bad day. I agree with Hicky, try and pace yourself more, perhaps try a bit of daytime tv or a book read, or maybe take an annual magazine subscription. I like having these for a bit of easy reading.

Shame your gardener didn't turn up. As you say, weather forecast not good either too. Let's hope it does not hit us as bad as they are predicting.

Yes technology is amazing, I often think that, how much info we have at our finger tips and even how HIcky can see and chat to his family so far away.

Your grandkids may also be online learning (if they are local and not staying in student accomm), but I think all the Unis are doing social distancing , so small groups only being together. What are they studying?

Ribs much improved now thanks, just have to be wary now.

How nice you can get M and S delivery next week , such lovely food they do.

Hicky

at you being unable to resist snacks if they are in the manshed.

Why do you have lots of booze if you don't drink it? I rarely drink too, only the odd glass if I had to fancy a glass of rose wine.

(probably once a month)..

Your manshed sounds well organised.

Hope your hospital visit goes ok tomorrow, hard decision to make whether to get there early or go by taxi.

Not a bad day today, no rain, bit cloudy though.

Have been busy helping son negotiate student finance forms. Their site is hopeless, it can't cope with the heavy load.

Took dog a little walk, did a bit of tidying, but not much else today.

Am watching Frost the detective on itv tonight.

Goodnight both. xxx

Evening Mollie.

Most of the booz was presents, we keep a couple of the small bottles of red and white in case it is called for in a recipe, i have a bottle of Carva in the garage, a presi, i used to get loads of spirits off the boats when i used to go to meeting in Europe and the boss gave us money to buy stuff in the duty free, he used to get money out for the trip and what he hadn't spent he shared out, i couldn't really keep the cash so just spent it on drink, i stored tons of it, gave it all away.

I bet the sons student finace forms are a pain, most forms are.

at least you got out with the dog for a walk, you both need that.

I've just been drinking decaf coffee, i drink that after 6pm, before that it's non decaf.

Watching New: Aussie Gold Hunters, would love to do that but you need a lot of money to attempt that.

Mrs H bought me a new cap and a pair of braces, can't keep my pants up, irf i keep tightening the crocodile belt it gets un-comfy, they are trying to fall down all the time.

Stay safe, keep smiling and sleep well.

PS. The street lamps are all being changed in the roads but the new ones aren't lit yet, they are the new LED ones smaller lamp unit and higher, probably for a wider coverage, maybe they don't have the new and the old on together in the same area.

Good Evening All.

Hope Baz and Mollie had a good day and slep last night.

20c today with thundery shows and a fresh breeze.

Was at the hospital this morning, Mrs H dropped me off, 2 hrs early as she was on her way to work, they see you quick anyway, i had an injection in my left eye as the doc said the pictures showed a small bleed, i could have an injection or not, my decision so i said yes.

Got some floaters again, black balls floating around as i look, they usually slowly fade and get smaller.

had fried eggs for brekkie, not easy when you can't see as the eye drops blur your vision for 4 to 6 hours, think its worn off.

Had a crab and corn soup, wow, and then made Tagliatelle Carbonara, wow, good.

Will make a loaf tomorrow, running low.

Playing chess with my lad again.

Stay safe, stay in and stay cool. sleep well.

Baz

hope you slept ok and had a good day.

I thought the booze might of been pressies.

That's handy you have a new belt, are you losing weight if your trousers are getting loose? I know you have been eating healthy fruit and fish, so might be.

Hope the floaters in your eye don't last too long. Shame you had to arrive so early, but worth it to get a lift. Did they see you any earlier or did you have to wait until your correct appointment time?

Yes it must of been very difficult for you cooking any food at all with blurry eyes.

Hope you enjoyed your chess game.

The wind was incredibly strong here. Our trellis has broken completely the wood just cracked , so all the honeysucklie is down.

Yesterday son saw a bird of prey swoop down on the bird table! It has bright yellow feet he said and all the little sparrows screeched and hid quickly in the nearest bush! They have been very cautious today and only a few quickly visiting today.

Spent hours getting correct info and helping son put together his student finance form. He has had the Uni course details for the 1st week sent. It is the end of Sept. They have an introduction to all the students on his course with his tutor, a music night with a band, a sports night, a quiz night, and everything is online. A relief to him, he didn't fancy going into town or Uni.

Watched an old Inspector Morse drams tonight.

No walk for the doggie, I would not of been able to push her pram in this severe wind.

Goodnight both xxx

Evening Mollie.

I haven't got a new belt, had this Crocodile one for quite a while, but with no hips it is very hard to keep my pants up so got some braces, they are great i can have the belt a lot more comfortable.

I've got a beer belly but i don't drink.

It was really handy going 2 hours early, they saw me straight away, well chuffed, they just swap the order, everything is so well spaced with the social distancing, you all have masks on.

The floaters are still there, one is very small now, they will be gone soon, think it's part of the injection fluid.

I won the game tonight, and i palayed black pieces, he played well.

That is bad, your trellis, it must have had a weakness, the wind exploits that.

Wow, a bird of prey, it must be desperate for food, and you have all the birds in hiding.

Thats good news for your son anyway, saves him going anywhere.

It wasn't worth the risk going out in the gales.

I've half been watching whats on and playing chess so had a good night.

Stay safe, sleep tight.

Afternoon Mollie and Hicky  I slept a bit better last night  so , after two days of doing nothing , I finally got my finger out and caught up with the housework  Washing , hoovering , dusting , kitchen cleaning and bird feeding ....now I have collapsed in a heap on the sofa watching Silent Witness Hope everyone else is having an equally good day

Mollie , glad your ribs are a bit better Shame about your trellis .....it wasn’t too bad up here , but it looked really bad down your way .  Glad you managed to sort out your sons uni finance ....sounds like a nightmare ....but seems like his uni itself has everything under control . Wow , a bird of prey ....amazing ....biggest thing I ever get on my bird table is a pigeon Hicky , glad you got to the hospital appointment ok ......I had floaters once ...very annoying , ....they thought it might be a sign of a detached retina , but mine turned out harmless ....and eventually went away . I had to give up coffee a few years ago cos it started giving me palpitations ....I even have to have decaf tea . I might give decaf coffee a try again though ....see if things have changed

Well a good night of viewing for me tonight ....two Michael Portillo programmes ...and a repeat of Gogglebox on E4 Hope you both have a good evening too. Stay safe

Baz

Evening Baz.

Glad you slept a bit better, this cooler weather has helped me as well.

My floaters floated off during the night so pleased about that, i usually get them after the injection.

Made a loaf, had sausages for brekkie, at 2pm had jellied eels, for tea had Tagliatelle Bolognese, only had prawns instead of mince.

Been watching chess moves from chess clubs in St Louis Chess club.

I always used to drink tea but it stains the cups so bad and my teeth so i changed to coffee, but after 6pm i have Decaf Coffee.

A person on a forum from Greece sent a recipe for a cake using no Flour, with either Oranges or Lemons as the base, with other ingredients and Ground Almonds a main ingredient as well.

Will make a Shrimp sandwich later using the fresh bread and Irish butter.

I've got the F1 this weekend again from Belgium.

My lad probably wants another game of chess, i beat him yesterday, think thats 12 games on the run.

Will be watching chess matches tonight, never too old to learn.

Stay safe, take it easy and sleep well.

Baz

so glad you had a good nights sleep at last and so a better day.

We were a bit concerned about the Bird of Prey incase he went for the little birds, so dont' think we will be putting so much food scraps out next time. We too get pigeons, they are very sweet and dont' seem to bother the smaller birds. We also get a robin who pops in on odd days.

Hope you sleep well again tonight.

Hicky

that is really good they saw you early at the hospital, good job you decided to do it that way and didn't waste time and money on a taxi.

Glad to see those floaters floated off overnight.

I see you are enjoying International chess. 12wins on the row, you are such a champ.

I enjoy my morning coffee but never drink it in the afternoons as it keeps me awake, haven't tried decaf to see if thats ok though.

The Greek cake recipe sounds unusual, are you going to try making one?

The landlord sent this guy round to do an energy inspection, beause he says he has to legally do one.

We opened every door and window wide to let fresh air circulate. Luckily the weather was a lot better today. He was wearing a mask thankfully.

Poor Sarah Harding fighting breast cancer. I wish her well. I really liked her in CBB.

Son's 40 page plus form for Student Finance is done and we went to post it today.

Also popped into pet shop as it was quiet and daughter went into Home Bargains. You dont' have to wear masks here in shops as the rates are very low, but most were wearing masks.

Watching Inspector Pierot today. Took doggie a walk. Had pizza pitta bread with MrM's home made potatoes and veg for tea, and a caramel cone for pudding.

Goodnight both xxx

Evening Mollie.

Thats why i stop the normal coffee at 6pm and change to decaf, works fine.

Yes, going to try the flourless cake, am trying to get a load of oranges or lemons, but i need the ground almonds, if Mrs H can't get them cheap enough i'll have to get them from wholefoodsonline.

Yes, Sarah Harding, don't think she has long now, nothing they can do, it's just morphine now poor soul, can't see how she can survive, its stage 4.

A 40 page form, wow, crazy.

Its more confusing when England, Wales and Scotland and Ireland are having different rules, it sounds like each trying to flex their power/independence.

stay safe, stay happy and sleep well.

Did you see my latest loaf i made today, needed some fresh bread.

Evening All.

17c today, pretty cool some rain and a gentle breeze.

Had bacon and egg on toast for brekkie, made a flourless Orange cake, a disaster, maybe the oven was too hot, also i didn't know you had to line the tin before you put the mixture in.

And i spent ages making it as i had to boil the oanges for 2 hours and then depip and semi blend, oh well, you live and learn.

I noticed when looking what time F1 is on tomorrow on station BT 425 that on 426 for the last 7 days i have been missing the Darts, dy and night, what a blow, can watch tonight and the weekend though.

Just had carb with fresh bread and butter.

Stay safe, have a good evening and sleep well.

hope you slept well and had a good day.

Hicky

yes I saw the latest loaf and showed it the family,so thanks for the photo... it looks great. Sorry, must of forgotten to reply on whatsap. Has a busy day yesterday though with this guy coming for the energy survey and getting that big form in the post.

What a shame the cake didn't work out after you spent all that time on it. It does sound like hard work though.

And pity you missed your sport on tv for so long. Hope you can still watch plenty of it.

Rain nearly all day today, caught up with a bit of washing.

Had a mac cheese burger and veg for tea.

Sat in garage awhile and read my book with MrM who was sorting garage stuff out.

Watched Midummer Murders.

Goodnight both xxx

M

Evening Mollie.

Don't worry about not replying to the whatsapp post, you don't need to, you have enough to do.

That form for your lad, why on earth is it that long?

With the cakes, i think the oven was too hot, a bit confused about the temperatures, it was set at 180c but they say the fan oven temperature should be lowered by 25c which would make it 155, how does that work when the cake needs 180c i'm confused.

Also, the tins should have been lined with parchment paper, the recipe didn't say that, only found out when i posted the question about the cake sticking.

Yes, so annoyed at not knowing the darts has been on for 8 days all ready.

I just watched chess video grandmasters giving lessons in chess schools.

stay safe, sleep well and have a great Friday.

Afternoon Mollie and Hicky  A very wet day here . ...and chilly ! Can we go back to some sun again now please I didn’t sleep too badly ....but woke at 5 o’clock ! I fully intended having a lazy  day , but things kept getting in the way ! First there was washing , then both bins needed emptying and the last of my birthday flowers needed clearing out  , then the kitchen needed cleaning then the shopping delivery needed anti bac and putting away .....then , just as I parked my rear on the sofa , another delivery ( that I had forgotten about ) arrived....so more anti bac ! I didn’t finally get sat down until 1 o’clock  But now I’m glued to the sofa watching Midsomer MurdersHope you are all having a more relaxed day than me

Mollie , yes , our pigeons don’t bother the small birds either ....and we have robin , and a couple of collared doves that visit daily too . My husband always loved the robin , so it’s a comfort when it visits .....and Cyril the squirrel visits every now and then I love watching him/her ,and  he is so funny .....although he does dig up a bulb every now and then Yes, it’s very sad about Sarah Harding.....and as for your sons form ...40 pages ....it’s more like a darn book !  Hicky , glad your floaters cleared up quickly . Sorry your cake didn’t turn out , but yes , a fan oven ....I’ve got one ....tends to need adjusting by a couple of degrees....or perhaps a shorter time ? How did you come to miss the darts ? Can you watch it on Catch Up ....if you have it ?

Anyway , not a lot on tv tonight .....even gardeners world is on late ! I think I might watch the programme about Tiffany at 8....see how the other half lives Have a good evening whatever you are doing ....and take care

Baz

Evening Baz.

Do you have secret guests during the afternoon messing your kitchen up, i thought there was only you, how does your kitchen get in a mess?

I agree, so much rain, so annoying, we have lost the summer this year, no wonder people don't want to come here for a holiday.

I had sausages for brekkie, for tea had a casserole i got from the freezer stock of homemade meals, having salt cod for brekkie with bacon

I usually wake sometime during the night, between 3pm and 7pm but after a trip to the bathroom i'm back in bed till i wake again.

I dpn't understand what they say about Fan Ovens, to turn it down by 20c or 25c to give the same heat as a normal oven of 200c set the fan oven to 180, but the temperature in the fan oven would be 180 because that is what the thermostat controlling it would keep it at.

My old oven was 20c out the other way, qt 180c it was 200c in the oven and one side of the oven was hotter than the other.

I missed the darts because i seldom look in the guide for programs on 426 which would have darts on, i remember searching a while ago and couldn't find any dates, tonight is night 10 of 17.

Its strange, since having the eye injection there seems to be a small change in my eye, i used to get a almost black centre patch if i looked through the left eye by closing the right, but now its not black its a very faint haze, can't say its a colour as i wouldn't know, and i can almost tell the time on my watch if i put it in front of my eye which is a massive improvement, not sure why this has happened though as it's been very bad for 6 months, interesting, i wonder if another!!!!

Stay safe, sleep tight.
