Baz

sorry about your very sad anniversary day. Even 2 years is early days for something so painfull. At as Hicky says, all you can do is to get through it as best you can, you certainly kept yourself busy.....shame the rain stopped your walk though. It stopped our walk too.

Bite thankfully not too bad this time thanks.

Shame you never did get round to getting that dish washer. With son's home cooking for the 5 of us, we have certainly had a lot of dishes to wash by hand without it!  Luckily our landlord has agreed to replace it as it is 20 years old and been playing up for some time. So we get one on Sunday.

I'd of loved your lamb chops meal without the lamb chops though.   I usually have cranberry sauce with my cooked meal and love honey roast parsnips.

Hi Hicky

so difficult for you trying to trim your own toesnails.

I find these Japanese nail clippers very good ones...I have the finger and toe ones, the best clippers I have ever had.

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Seki-...aps%2C169&sr=8-5

Nice for you to be able to play chess online with one of your boys. Is it the lad with the knee replacement?

My son is doing an online quiz with his drama group tonight.

Glad to see you are still enjoying your sports channel tv.

I watched Vera tonight.

Not a bad day today, so sat on swingchair.

Son made cheese sauce for me to have a vegetable bake for tea, delicous it was. Had it with sweet potato chips.

Goodnight both xxx

M

Evening Mollie.

I've got a pair of that type of nail clipper, i use them for my finger nails, i didn't think they would cut my big toenail so didn't use them, used the other type, clippers, like scissor action, but those type might do the other nails, i give them a try, might be easier than the others as i cant see what i'm doing.

Yes, i'm playing the chess with son #5 that had the knee op.

I was watching some golf this afternoon as the darts doesn't start till 7pm on the last few days, the final is Sunday.

Its good that your son can join the quiz with his mates, keeps him in the loop.

Mrs H brought me another selection of sachets of cheese sause, pepper and a few others, always good to have in stock.

Hoping to make the Moussaka and another loaf tomorrow.

Stay safe, keep smiling and sleep tight.

Hicky

Afternoon Mollie and Hicky   Grey day here ...by No thunderstorms , yet I didn’t sleep too well ...but more disturbed sleep than no sleep ....so I’ve been quite productive this morning ....cleaning and washing ....but now I’m slobbed out on the sofaI donned a mask yesterday and as the weather was nice I walked up to the local shop ....I couldn’t bring myself to go in yet , but at least I never fled home again I have to say I felt much safer in the mask though ....and I can’t understand why some people refuse to wear them ....it’s a no brainer imo ! Hope everyone else Is having a good Saturday, whatever you are doing

Mollie , did you enjoy Gogglebox ? That Naked Attraction is I have cranberry sauce with everything too .....and honey roast parsnips are one of the few vegetables I can eat since my ibs kicked in about 5 years ago ....so I have those most days too Hope you’ve managed to get out for a walk todayHicky , my husband used to have to go to the podiatrist cos he had diabetes , but couldn’t cut his toe nails . Did you win the chess game ?

Nowt on the TV tonight , so going to have to search for something half decent to watch Hope you both have a good evening , whatever you are doing . Stay safe

Evening Baz.

Thats a blow not sleeping too well, maybe better tonight.

`8c here today with light rain that never came and a moderate breeze.

Made a rather nice loaf this morning, to find the right oven temperature i put my oven probe in and it connects to a small cook timer and shows me the temperature anywhere i want in the oven, to get 230c i had to set the oven to just under 220c, if i set it to 180c it is really at least 200c so you have to be careful.

This afternoon i made Greek Moussaka, wow, it's enough for m8 or 10 portions.

Had a vid call this morning from oz, so good to see them all, granddaughter coming on a treat, doing some talking, bossy boots.

I am going to try and cut the rest of my toe nails tomorrow as i have an easy day, i think, with arthritis and false hips it doesn't help and when you cant see that sure doesn't help, i have to feel for things these days, i can see bits if i look away, when i look back its gone, thats the problem, very hard to press the right keys on the mobile with one eye.

Mrs H has type 2 Diabetes, under control i think.

Playing chess with my lad, he has been playing for chess clubs for years, he even plays with a professor of music, a very clever girl, i haven't beaten him yet, but when i look at the result it gives me a report on how we played etc and i can replay the game move by move and it shows me what i should have done and where i go wrong, so clever.

I've got darts again on Sky at 8pm, last day tomorrow the final.

Going to msee if the Moussaka is ok to try now.

Have a good evening, sleep well.

Greek Moussaka
Greek Moussaka, enough for maybe 8 or more, i'll freeze whats over.

Hicky

Hi Baz, i always turn predictive text off, could never understand why anyone uses it when it can change what you type and not even ask, it just changes it, will never use anything that takes control away from me, as it doesn't have to answer for errors, and some can be terrible.

I had 2 small portions of the Moussaka, very tasty, had to force mayself to stop eating it.

Plenty here, pity you are so far away, i may have to eat it all myself as Mrs H doesn't eat food like that.

My lad who plays chess with me online has taken his O/H out tonight for a meal, with his crutches, her Birthday is Tuesday.

Baz

pity you didn't sleep too good again.

But good you got out for a walk. I completely agree, a mask is such an easy thing to do, so why not?

I didn't watch Gogglebox when I saw it was a "best of". But I do recall them watching Naked Attraction on Gogglebox.

So hard for you food wise as certain foods make it worse, but glad you can enjoy your parsnips.

I couldn't find anything to watch tonight, so ended up watching a recording.

Hicky

love the photos of your cooking. No wonder you had to force yourself to stop eating it.

Good old MrsH keeping you well supplied with your sauces. I think she deserves a treat for that, such as a nice home made loaf of yours or scones.

at your grandaughter being a little bossy boots. My daughter was the same, especially with her older brothers.

Take care cutting your nails tomorrow.

Hope your son enjoys his meal out tonight. Not easy going out with crutches though.

Good to see you are enjoying your sport on tv and playing chess with your lad.

A bit cloudy here today, and a few light showers.

My shopping came today, I like Morrisons, which is good as it is the only supermarket I can regularly get delivery slots with.

Took doggie a little walk but not far as it started to drizzle.

OH went to my friends house (who died recently) to collect some books from her daughter, that I had bought her and he collected his  tools from when he did some decorating for her. I felt too upset to go to her house now she is not there, so my daughter went with him.

Had some delicous strawberries with fresh cream, Percy Pig syrup and merinque that daughter made me in a tall glass. Yummy..

Goodnight both xxx

M

Evening Mollie.

I have just put the rest of the Moussaka into small takeaway foil trays, used 7 trays of the 10 pack, managed to put them in the kitchen freezer for now, on a forum one of the blokes is Greek, he said i should have prepared the veg the day before and also should have browned the veg in the oven, wish he had told me before i did it all, he knew i was making it today.

I made those scones for Mrs H anyway, still 3 left in the box.

Mrs H will have to repaint some area at the back of the bungalow, i forgot to tell the bloke doing the gutters that the paint on certain areas wasn't properly hard yet, he had borrowed my steps and of course was dragging them around the decking.

Glad your shopping came, you need that, whoever gives you good service.

I finished off my strawberries, last week the ones i got were fantastic, a family pack, they were massive, this week only small from Kent.

I'm wondering what i am going to do with all these grapes, not sure how many bunches and the bunches are not all the same size, i will show you a picture of a bunch either on the vine or when picked, i know there must be over 50 bunches as i took 50 off that had been double up.

Don't blame you not going to your friends place, it would feel strange with her not there.

Was that almost an Eton Mess you had in the glass, or does it need ice cream.

Stay safe, sleepm tight.

Hicky

both xxx

Baz

hope you slept ok last night and had a good day. Knowing you, you have been a busy little bee.

Hicky

that's interesting some Greek told you how to make it the Greek way.  As you say, pity you didn't know beforehand, but I am sure you will still enjoy it. Does MrsH eat it?  She does seem to enjoy your scones I know. Were they fruit ones?

What a shame gutter man damaged some of MrsH's painting. How long do you think it takes to dry and toughen?

Anyone in the family or any nice neighbours that like grapes. I think unless you are going to tread on them to make wine, you and MrsH will have a job to eat that many yourselves!

I think Eton Mess is really made with raspberries, fresh cream and meringue. But mine closely resembled one but using strawberries instead. I had another one today.

We had cooked brekkie this morning, so just had some nachos with melted cheese and salsa/glucomone dip that sone made for tea.

Doggie had a little walk but not far as it started to rain. Not very summery the weather lately.

Going to watch Downtown Abbey now. Its a repeat but I missed it 1st time, so not a lot else on.

Have a good evening both xxx

M

Evening Mollie.

A strange day weatherwise, forcast kept saying rain at times, but it never came, did my washing but didn't hang it up outside as i was expecting rain all day, put a folding thingy outside with clothes on it to dry so i could get them in quick but rain didn't come, due tonight.

Had a tin of toms and 2 sausages for brekkie with toast.

For tea diced onion and a large spud, seasoned and baked in the oven sealed in foil, put a portion of the Moussaka in as well, but added more gravy with some Indian spice mix,

Mrs H doesn't eat food like Moussaka, not sure why, she prefers to eat what she makes herself.

The paint takes 6 hrs to go off but days to harden, it hadn't had enough time as the weather didn't help, 4 more tins arrived so she wont run out.

Is Eton Mess made with raspberries, so annoying when the seeds get in your teeth, i would prefer strawberries anytime.

I'll have to think about what to do with all the grapes, i wonder what happens if i blitz them in the blender? they are seedless.

This July has been a total washout, ever since the start of summer on June 20th it has been awful.

The dart final tonight doesn't start till 8.30, watching Filthy Britain.

Stay safe, keep smiling and sleep tight.

Forgot to say, tried the clippers on my toe nails, couldn't see to get the nail into it, the curves didn't match like on finger nails so had another go with the scissor type, managed to trim a bit for now, then filed with my big nail file they gave me.

Afternoon Mollie and Hicky  Very wet day here .....although the sun has just poked through ....and it’s set to be a scorcher at the end of the week I didn’t sleep very well again  last night , so I’ve not done a lot today ....just one load of washing and kitchen cleaning . Apart from that my grief counsellor rang out of the blue , and it was nice to chat to her ....so maybe I’ll sleep a bit better tonight ...fingers crossed Hope everyone else is having a good day , whatever you are doing

Mollie , I love Eton mess ....whatever way it’s made...so save me a portion please  I can totally understand you not feeling up to going into your friends house ....it’s very , very sad ....and still early days Hicky , we’ve got a vine over our pergola ....Mr B made wine one year ....but it was rubbish ....so since then we just used to eat a few each year . They are black seedless , but very small How is your sons leg doing ?

Not a lot on tv tonight , but I do like to watch Devon and Cornwall on c4 ....but whatever you’re watching , or doing , I hope you have a good evening . Stay safe

Baz

Evening Baz.

Sorry you didn't sleep well last night, oh dear.

It was good for you to have a chat with your counsellor, it all helps to calm you.

I might have to look into making some wine, what i would need etc.

My sons leg is fine they went out last night to celebrate his O/H Birthday, which is really tomorrow.

I'll watch the C4  show, it has a trawlerman, love trawlers, and farms.

19c today with rain on and off with a fresh breeze.

Had a couple of crumpets for brekkie, was trying to trace a couple of payments from an account, i couldn't find an invoice or order for the dats in question, i was in the process of letting the fraud team know when Mrs H said, oh wait it could be me, she ordered an electric can opener and the one she wanted wasn't available here or on Amazon, anyway, it was from Ebay and the payments ha gone via Paypal, whew.

Then later on i was ordering a new Hotpoint double oven, to replace the one i have that gives so much grief with temperature, it comes Wednesday, going to get them to install it and take the old one away.

For tea i did some oven chips and a portion of the Moussaka again, then combined on a heatproof plate and covered with grated cheese and returned to oven to melt, with brown sauce over it, very nice.

Have ordered a set of 4 non stick silicone heatproof mats for baking etc

Have a good evening, stay safe and sleep tight.

Hicky

Baz

sorry you didn't sleep well again. Yes best not to do a lot the next day if you had a restless day. Hope that call from your counsellor does mean you have a better night tonight.

I bet the vine over your pergola looks nice.

I watch Paramedics on C4, its really interesting they are amazing what thy have been doing over covid problem times. Highly recommended.

Hicky

You will have to try blending a few grapes to make juice. My son's fave drink is the purple grape juice we can get from Asda. Or give wine making a bash.

That's good your son's knee is coming on so well.

Sorry your toe nails are still proving so difficult for you. Wonder when the chiropodist who usually does them opens up again?

Good job MrsH remembered her purchases, you wouldn't of wanted the fraud squad going after her!

HOpe you like your oven when it comes. Me and MrM paid a visit to our garage to sit and have a read and listen to the radio for awhile. A change of scenery if nothing else.

A dull day here too, with rain on and off all day. At least it stopped awhile to take the doggie her walk. Spoke to a neighbour and hubby also walking their dog. "what have you been up to?" she asked us. "not a lot" I siad, and she said the same, as there is not much to do right now. We both agreed as long as we all stayed healthy, that was the most improtant thing, not the things we had planned,  but can't do now.

Son made a roast dinner, he has perfected his Yorkshire puds.

Tv time, have a good evening both xxxx

M

Evening Mollie.

I looked into making wine, no chance, 29 steps, tons of equipment and loads of time and sugar needed, i'm not getting into that so i'll look into how i can preserve the grapes, or make sultanas, oh that might be white grapes, maybe currents then, or how to make juice and save that.

I was walking under the Kiwi vine earlier and hanging down are baby fruit some about 1cm x .6cm thought i had none this year isn't that strange.

I have managed to trim the rest of the nails a bit and filed them so they aren't sharp, cant really see them but they will be ok.

It was Mrs H that pointed out what were the 2 payments using PayPal as one was for an item in the USA and the other was the payment for carriage and import taxes etc, i had no idea what it was, i checked all my paperwork, nothing, i had clicked on the fraud pages online to get a number to ring, that was when she said, oh, i think i know what it might be, didn't know it went through PayPal, yes, a tin opener from the states.

Yes, it's good to get out as long as you can do it safe.

Your son is so good now at the roast dinner and yorkshire pud, once you get the recipe right you must stick to it.

Just watching what turns up, saw the C4 show Baz mentions, it was good, love watching them fishing, i used to go out with FIL shrimping on his trawler, and we used to cook the shrimps on the deck, which you have to, you can't let them die or you can't sell them.

Have a good evening, sleep tight.

Hicky

Good Evening All.

Only 16c today with sunny intervals and a fresh breeze.

Had eggs on toast for brekkie and a rather nice chewy granola slice, well, 2 really, saving one for tonight, how good are they, made in store.

For tea had ham salad sandwiches, to cut down on big meals.

My new nonstick mats came today, Amazons own, very nice too.

The new oven comes tomorrow, catalytic sides for self cleaning in both ovens, can't wait.

I'm looking at sugarless jam but the keeping qualities are much effected by the lack of sugar as that is a preserver, i will look into say 25% sugar instead of the 100% which would normally be used.

 Watching Supervet just now.

At least i have F1 the weekend, mind you it is all on C4 because the race etc is in the UK this week and next.

Still haven't taken any spuds out yet as the plants haven't died off.

Stay safe, keep smiling and sleep tight.

Hicky

Baz

hope you had a good day and slept ok last night.

Hicky

sounds like it has to be a "no" to the wine then, it does sound complicated though. I am sure you will come up with another idea though.

That would be great if you get some kiwi fruit this year.

Glad to hear you managed to do a bit of a good job with the nails.

Oh dear, all that hastle for MrsH's tin opener from the States!  We had something similiar as it showed as ebay when we didn't even know we had used ebay.

I am very pleased with that corer you showed me , so easy to use. Daughter bought a differnt type of strawberry one some time ago and I still can't work out how to use it properly but the one you showed me is so easy but effective.

Those granola slices sound delicous. you did well managing to keep one till later.

Do you have a link to the non stick mats? You do seem to find a lot of useful kitchen gadgets.

The sugarless jam would be nice and good also for MrsH as she has diabetes. I do find the shop ones too sweet.

MrM dug up another pile of potatoes again, as we finished the last of his earlier lot tonight for tea. They are looking good. So far it is only a few that he planted too close to the surface that are not good, they are green, but luckily, its not many off ones.  Considering it was his 1st time, we have really done well with the amount we have got. I can see why you home grow produce it is so much nicer than shop bought.

Some of his little orange tomatoes are also nice, he had a good crop considering he only paid ÂĢ1 for the plant from B and Q. Not so much luck with the carrots, we didn't get much of a crop, many were very tiny, but at least the bunny seemed to appreciate them.

Watching A and E now, what a good programme. Some of the patients are amusing this week.

Nice day here today, even though it was a bit windy, so sat on the swingchair awhile. Did 4 washloads including sheets, so it all dried nicely in the wind. Had a shopping deivery so antibaced it all before putting it away.

Goodnight both xxx

Afternoon Mollie and Hicky  Hope everyone is having a good day . I had a dreadful nights sleep again I must be due to crash out one night soon! Apart from that I’ve done the normal daily housework and washing .....and anti bac’d the shopping delivery .....now I’m slobbing out on the sofa

Mollie , I’ve not watched this weeks A&E yet , but sounds like I’m going to enjoy it Glad I’m not the only one that anti bacs the shopping ....I even anti bac the anti bac Weather is looking good for tomorrow and Friday , before it changes again Hicky , glad you enjoyed Devon and Cornwall ....it’s a good series I like Supervet too ....he does some great work ....although I tend to prefer Yorkshire Vet cos it’s more  varied . Fantastic that you’ve got by kiwi fruit

Masterchef and a new Michael Portillo train series for my viewing tonight Have a good evening both , whatever you are doing Take care .

Baz

Evening Mollie & Baz.

Got a bit out of step, missed you last night Mollie somehow.

Anyway, 17c today with sunny intervals and a moderate breeze.

the new oven came, love it, just used the top oven to cook my diced spud and onion, i used the new non stick small mat in foil on a baking tray, it worked fine, you get 4 sizes of mat, fantastic, you can cook anything on it, I'll post the link.

Won my game of chess yesterday with my lad, bet he wasn't too pleased, he doesn't lose many.

You have done well with the spuds, i'm looking forward to getting some of mine up soon, i'll store them in the garage.

I haven't grown any veg in the greenhouse this year as there wasn't room, the hydropic growing was a failure, the starting of the seeds etc was fine but they they needed to be under cover with more control of the weather.

Have made a usual onion string thingy for the small onions, has a few little ones for tes, they were all in the big tubs, they seem fine, got loads, they were onion sets, always good.

Have made my shopping list out for o/h tomorrow.

Sorry to hear you had a bad night Baz, you must be overthinking something, oh dear, glad you got your shopping ok, you sure need that.

Yes, supervet, hes so clever what he does, i suppose they could do the same for humans but they can't they would be sued if something went wrong.

I'm just watching Sky sports F1 as it has chats with many people.

Stay safe both, sleep tight.

I forgot the Amazon Basics link for the baking mats, silicaone, mine was a 4 set, maybe they have run out,

This is the 3 set.

sorry you had such a bad nights sleep. Do you like reading? I find reading a book when I wake in the early hours does help. I buy mine from Amazon. If I find an author I like, I do like daughter advised me and look for pre-owned in "very good" condition and save a lot. I also have the radio on all night to help me sleep. I have LBC on via my phone, as they talk about interesting things usually. Steve Allan who is on 4am weekdays till 7am is my fave, he is so amusing, so helps the insomnia. You could give that a go?

Yes I think you will like this week's A and E. I am watching Princess Anne, am not a mad loyalist but it is very intresting, she really works hard and takes her job and postion seriously. (unlike a lot of the others!).

You are like me antibaccing the anti bac.   Can't be too careful with this awful disease.

I love trains and have watched Michael Portillo ...is it a new series now as I think I watched the old ones?

I will have to look up the Devon/Cornwall series.

Hicky

glad you like the new oven, I am sure with all your recipes, you will make good use of it.

at your son not being a good loser if you win him at chess.

Do you keep the light off your spuds when you store them? Not sure, but  I think the light might of made some of OH's go a green colour when I did not cover them.

What a shame your hydropic was a failure.

Do you grow purple or cream onions? You always seem to do well with your oniions.

Yes Supervet is amazing, shame he can't do the same for humans.

Warm day today, sat on swingchair, went rowing for 10 mins, which exhausts me!   Took dog a walk, had wraps with halloumi, salad, Morrocon falafel, very tasty, then strawberries and cream.

Goodnight both xxx

M

Morning Mollie.

I posted the link but you had posted already, i forgot to go back, will post it here.

The potatoes must stay on the dark when you pick them, i lost all mine last year as they went green, but they really need to stay cold as well.

The onion sets i grow are "New Fen Globe" you get 75 in a little mesh bag, you plant them in the spring with just the tip showing above ground, so simple.

That rowing will do you good, on the swing and taking doggie for walk, a good day.

Your tea was good, i had baked diced spud again with onion, took a meal from the freezer it was a steak casserole, added a bit of spice, very tasty.

Went to the loo before and looked at my watch, i keep it on the bedside table overnight, the atomic radio one, the watch had stopped at 6am, the seconf hand and the minute both on 12, i put it on, just looked now at 06.31 and its right, must have waited for a time signal, i thought it updated at 2am.

I was restless in bed, had a fish order almost ready to order, i turned the computer off yesterday incase the power went off while they were doing the oven, lost the order basket, wanted to come here to post the link, it's my move on the chess, i probably didn't sleep that good as i didn't have much supper.

The set i got was a 4 piece, but couldn't find it, these are the ones.

Evening All.

Quite nice today, 24c with drizzle early and nice sun after that, a moderate breeze.

My shopping arrived at 08.30 but had eggs, tomato and sliced fried Chorizo with toast.

Had a vid call from Oz, very nice too.

Started a game of chess with my lad, i was playing black pieces, finished at 5pm just now, i won, yippeeeeeee

Have just ordered a fly zapper, electric.

Just had a fantastic meal, Mrs H made a Welsh Hill Lamb Mini Shoulder roast dinner, we had a shoulder each, mine will do 2 meals so will have it in a curry tomorrow.

Didn't do much in the garden, tidied up the steel frame that i had put over the hydroponic bed, i have taken the frame to bits and stored.

The F1 starts tomorrow and Sat/Sun, Silverstone, Sky or C4 this week and next.

Stay safe, stay alert, stay happy and sleep tight.

Hicky

Afternoon Mollie and Hicky  Well , what a day ! Hot as hades....way to hot for Baz !  But I slept quite well again last night , so I steeled myself to go out for a walk before breakfast ....masked up , grabbed my handbag and phone ...checked my keys were in it ....and walked right round the block . Was patting myself on the back , until I got home and realised that the keys in my bag were the ones I took the front door key off to give to the carer in March Don't panic Baz I thought , the neighbour across the road also has a spare key ....except when I got there he wasn't answering his door , and after a couple of frantic phone calls , I realised he was out .....so then Baz went into full panic mode  So I sat in back garden ....luckily the vine gives a lot of shade ....and phoned the carer , who was at work and wouldn’t be able to get here for an hour or so Just as I was considering getting a locksmith in , the neighbour came home .....Phew Lesson learned , and front door key now firmly in place in my bag !  Apart from that , I’ve not done a lot .....just some washing and recovering  Hope everyone else is having a less fraught day

Mollie , yes , I love reading ....I like detective novels .....and I do actually listen to audiobooks when I go to bed ....at the moment I’ve been listening to the Agatha Raisin series My problem isn’t getting to sleep , it’s staying asleep . I think it’s probably an age thing ....I’m in my 70s ....I'm not the only one that anti bacs the anti bac I am not sure if the Portillo programme is a new one ....but I’ve not seen it if it is  I see Bake Off will be back in the autumn ....as will Im a Celeb ...so fingers crossed

Hicky , your dinner sounds yummy Glad you had a nice chat with your son in Oz .Are you enjoying the sunshine ?Let me know if your electric fly zapper is any good ....I HATE flies

Well it’s Gardeners World , and a Gogglebox repeat on E 4 for me tonightHave a good evening , whatever you are are doing ....and as always , stay safe

Baz

Evening Baz.

Glad you slept better last night.

Can't believe you are sharing front door keys, just get some made they are cheap enough, thats not a nice experience.

The fly zapper arrives Sunday, it's dreadful having flys in the kitchen but you can't keep the door or window shut all the time.

Had sausage on toast for brekkie and for tea had the other half of my lamb from yesterday and a carton of Balti curry with a rice cake i made.

Been watching F1 practice, so hot outside had a little swing on the swing seat.

The last game of chess i played with my son #5 and i won, thats 3 in a row, he won't be pleased, he's been playing for maybe 25 years, i've pnly been playing for 73 years so had a bit of practice.

Tested the thermal controls of the main oven this morning using 2 thermal probes connected to a meter display outside of the oven, placed each probe to the left/right hand 3rth of the middle shelf, tested it on 80/120/140/160/180 and 200c, they were fine, the 220c seemed strange as one said 215 the other said 195 no idea how that could be.
But up to 220c will be fine, i dob't go above that, i can set the oven to turn off when i want as well which is handy, the old did as well but i didn't realise it till i read the paperwork.

Not sure what to watch tonight on TV, will have to look whats on.

Stay safe and keep smiling, sleep tight.

gosh Baz, what a stressful walk out that was for you. Bet you were exhausted after.

That's good you enjoy reading as it is good to occupy us. I read"Whodunnit" type of stuff. I too tend to wake in the middle of the night, so read then, as well as when I first go to bed. My daughter  bought me a "Women's Own" mag subscription for a year, so that comes in handy if I can't sleep in the middle of the night but are too tired to concentrate on a book.

Hope you sleep better tonight.

What a shame it is just a repeat for Gogglebox, so think I will watch Vera instead.

Has it cooled down there for you now? It has here.

Hicky

thanks for the onion tip, wil ask MrM to give them a go next spring, and thanks for the heat map link, they look very useful.

Pity you lost your fish order, so easy to lose stuff if we forget to complete it.

Well done winning your son at chess again. that is some years you have been playing, no wonder you are good at it.

I won at Simpsons Uno card game and last night too. MrM won one round and son another. We tend to play a couple of card games a night.

Sounds like that F1 is going to keep you busy this weekend. th

I too hate flies in the house, we have tried electronic fly things without too much success in the past, so MrM bought some fly screens for the pation dooors and windows and they are great. Even the dog can walk through them. Here they are....

https://www.amazon.co.uk/EXTSU...s=kitchen&sr=1-2

We have some in the main windows we open as well as patio doors and they work so well. If you get an occasional one through these screens, then the electronic one would work as a backup. We have this electronic tennis racket that zaps the ones that get thourgh. But we don't get many though now we have the screens.

Glad you are pleased with your oven so far.

Was hot here yesterday too and started sweltering hot today but as the day went on the clouds arrived and it cooled down a lot, even had a bit of drizzle.

Forgot to post yesterday as I was so busy. Did lots of washing, went on rowing machine, then drove to the seaside and had a nice walk. Didn't take the dog there as it was too hot in the middle of the day. There was a lovely sea breeze as the tide was in. And we had our fave lime stripped cornet which I have missed as haven't had one for months during lockdown. Quite a few people there, but not crowded. Then when the sun was not so strong, took doggie her little walk.

Have a good evening both xxx

Evening Mollie.

I was just compiling the fish order, had got to about ÂĢ100 when i turned the computer off as the electrician though the power might go off when was doing tests on the power when he installed the oven.

That fly stopper is ok for doors, but we have the window open as well, yes those elecronic hand zappers are great, used to have one of thos, at the other place.

Watching Alaska: The Last Frontier, Salvage Hunters, anything interesting.

Have agood weekend.

Stay safe, keep smiling and eat well, also sleep tight.

Hicky

Evening All.

Not bad today 18c with light cloud and sunny intervals with a moderate breeze.

Had a bacon and egg on bread, thawed enough to get 2 slices, so fresh.

Had a vid call from Oz, fantastic really, he bought a load of children's clothes from someone that was trying to clear out stuff, a lot still had the tags on, probably bought as presents.

Watched the F1 practice and race for pole, Mercedes are top 2 on pole again, Hamilton 1st

It should be a good race tomorrow, not a nice track though.

For tea i had a prawn Jalfrezi curry with rice, it seems it is hotter than Madras.

I've been trying to find how my Radio watch gets wound or charged to keep it going, all i can find so far is how the signals set the time/date etc.

Will have to look what to watch tonight.

Stay safe, keep smiling and sleep tight.

how nice you got another Oz call and very handy your little grandaughter got a lot of bargain clothes. They grow out of them so quickly at that age, its always handy to get a bargain supply.

We have window fly screens too, as well as door ones, so they could come in handy in your kitchen too. Here's some..

https://www.amazon.co.uk/MOEGF...aps%2C160&sr=8-5

I see you are enjoying  watching your F1. MrM watched the football cup final today whilst we took the dog a walk. It was a lovely day for a walk, sunny, then a bit of cloud, but breezy so not hot.

Can you google the make of your watch to see how to charge it up?

Just watching the end of Jayne cruising, but can't find anything else to watch, so will check my recordings.

Son made some cheese rissoles for tea, so we had them with veg, very nice too.

Had strawberries with a slice of toffee gateau that daughter bought with an Iceland delivery. Their deliveies are good, sell all sorts, not just frozen. And free delivery if you spend so much. (think its ÂĢ30).

Hope Baz is well and slept better tonight.

Goodnight both xxx

M

Evening Mollie.

Hope you slept ok last night Baz, i was up a couple of times, it's just so hot, in the winter i sleep fine.

The family in Oz are expecting another baby, a boy sp will need plenty of clothes, some of the places they get them are still closed.

I've put the fly zapper in position by the rear kitchen/utility room window, it opens out from the bottom, but if we have food we can turn on the zapper.

All the radio watches work the same but the web just tells you how it updates but not what drives it, i don't plug it in, i don't wind it, so what is keeping it going.

Just watched the Voice Kids, so good.

Had some Kiwi before and a banana, got strawberries to eat if i want, got a load of them had 2 dishes the last couple of days.

I was going to toast the bread for my bacon and egg brekkie but the bread is so fresh when you keep it frozen its fine untoasted, will have to make another loaf Monday.

I didn't bother with Jayne, watching recordings, Life Below Zero.

One of my lads had Fillet Steaks from Iceland price per KG was ÂĢ17 and the price everywhere else is between ÂĢ35 and ÂĢ40 how can they do that, where on earth are they getting the meat?

Yes, a nice day for a walk with doggie, similar here i suppose, had a little rest on the swingchair didn't do anything outside.

Oh, i haven't lost my fish shopping basket i was going to order, just added some Arbroath smokies and everything came up ÂĢ101 so far.

Stay safe, sleep tight.

Afternoon Darnies I slept terribly last night ....but hardlY surprising , cos it’s another anniversary today But weather isn’t too bad , so I’ve been reasonably productive today .....changed duvet cover ...is ironed but not back on the bed yet Apart from that I’ve done a load of washing , cleaned the kitchen and bathroom , including the tiles , dusted, and  fed the birds  Hope everyone else is having a nice Sunday , whatever you are doing

Mollie , I keep meaning to say , I really like that blonding spray , although I’m going to have to get some conditioner, cos I find it dries my hair out a bit .Oh and it does work on dry hair That cake sounds yummy We used to go to Iceland quite a bit a few years ago ....and yes , they do do free delivery Hicky , how old is your granddaughter ?Thats an awful lot of fish I used to make my own bread , but haven’t done any for years ....but might have another go

Well I hope you both have a good evening .....not a lot on tv though Take care of yourselves

Baz

Evening Baz.

Sorry to hear you didn't sleep again, you are going to be really worn out very soon, anniversaries sure effect the sleep cycles.

You have done a lot today, there's always tomorrow you know.

This granddaughter in Oz is 22 months old, and becoming a handful, clever though, lost track of how many grandchildren and step ones i have, it used to be 12.

I was going to make another loaf tomorrow but have a load of slices of various loaves in the garage freezer so am going to use that as it's so annoying in the freezer outside.

Watched the F1, good race.

For brekkie had 3 fried eggs on toast, midday had a banana, for tea heated a premade hot & sour soup, got a Barramundi fish fillet in the pan frying, eating it now as i set the hob to turn off in case i forgot to go back to the kitchen.

My fish order ended up 3 dressed crab, 3 manx kippers, 6 tubs jellied eels, 1 tub rollmops, 1 tub white crab claw meat, 1 tub brown crab meat, delevered tuesday.

Stay safe and keep smiling, sleep tight tonight.

sorry you had another bad nights sleep, and another sad anniversary. Sounds like you have had a busy day though, hope you enjoyed relaxing with tv later.

Pleased to hear you like "Go Blonder". Remember you don't need to keep using it on the ends of your hair else it will dry out your hair.  I tend to just use it just on the roots now, with a quick spray round the back, but avoiding the ends of my hair. Hopefully the conditioner will help the dryness. I also rub leave in conditioner or serum to the ends of my hair.

I am sure you will find it a real treat if you have a go with your home made bread again. It is so yummy.

Hicky

congratulations on becoming an expectant Grandad again.   How nice your little grandaughter is to have a baby brother.

Glad to see you are enjoying your fruit, all very good for you.

That Iceland meat sounds a bargain for your son. We liked the Iceland stuff we had delivered.

That's a big order for fish, good job you didn't lose it.

I see you enjoyed your eggs today, we had our usual cooked brekkie today for our Sunday treat. We ate a whole pack of buttons mushrooms between the 3 of us and they were lovely. I also had beans, fried bread and tomatoes too, and a slice of malted bread toast with marmalade, and freshly squeezed orange juice OH made and coffee.

A nice day today, about 18c with sun, so the usual swingchair and doggie walk was very pleasant.

Goodnight both xxx

M

Evening Mollie.

I googled why the bananas turn black in the fridge, it seems the chemicals in the skin are supposed to pass to the banana centre but because if the cold it cant happen and the chemical turns the skin black as it has nowhere to go, but the banana is fine to eat of course, i read that if you put the bananas in a sealed bag it halps, will try that.

Yes, another grandson, have seen the scans.

That was a nice brekkie you had today, i could have had that of course, i am trying to cut down the amount i eat in a day but it's not easy, i never stop eating at night.

Mrs H is so fussy where she buys food, she won't got to Aldi, Iceland, etc, she does like M&S we have done a shop there before today, it has good stuff in the food hall.

I must get button mushrooms this week, they go with most of my breakfasts.

I also had a swing outside in the sun, and you got your doffie walk, nice.

Have a good sleep tonight,

Hicky

Evening All.

Cool again today at 17c with sunny intervals and a moderate breeze.

Had beans and egg on toast for brekkie, for tea had Laksa soup and fish fingers, nice though.

Been playing through a couple of Fishers chess games, he was the best.

Took down the pea plants, they have died off so it's in the brown bin now.

The council workman turned up about 5 meters away from us, they dug a hole by a lamp post and installed a type of shiny slim post, not sure what it is, could be an LED lamp post, it seems to have a small head facing down.

My seafood should come tomorrow, delivered by APC.

stay safe, stay in if pos and sleep tight.

Hicky

Hi Hicky x

I see you have been enjoying your chess again. Me and the family enjoyed a card game again after tea. Today we had Gregs pasties (Iceland sell them), with MrM's home grown potatoes and veg, then I had some strawberries with meleted Cadbury choccie. Very nice.

We had similar weather to you today.

My friend came to visit for brekkie, hadn't seen her for months due to lockdown, we only sat apart in the garden though, I made her cheese and tomato on toast (gave her paper plate) and coffee.

Be interesting to see what the post was for when you find out.

We have had Openreach men vans with me diggiing up round here for past week or so, don't know why. We already have fibre cabled in here, unless it is a faster one as broadband is slow round here.

Nice and cool , so doggie got a walk again. My washing dried nicely in the wind.

Baz....Hope you are ok and got some sleep last night.

Have a good evening both xxx

M

Evening Mollie.

Yes, i'm playing some of the games through fromthe best chess players ever, gives me something to think about.

Don't you all play chess at home?

Strawberries with melted chocolate, what next, i could do that, but i won't.

I love cheese and tomato on toast, oh, i didn't get tomatoes this week, oh well.

The new pole could just be a replacement for the old concrete lamp but it seems strange that its the only one out of about 20 in total that are dotted around the are and the only one that is in the middle of the view down the cul de sac, isn't that strange and nothing wrong with the one it is standing by, also it's a meter higher.

Openreach could be putting fibre in for the road, it is a specail cable with a hollow glass core, no, fibre is fibre, no fast or slow option but the old fibre lines just went to a local connection box, it didn't go to the house so the broadband went via the normal phone wires, fibre to the house is in the new cable with the glass core.

Yes, washing will dry quick in this weather, glad you got your walk.

stay safe, stay happy and sleep tight.

Hicky

Afternoon Mollie and Hicky  I got another reasonable nights sleep last night .....so I’ve been quite productive while the goings good Turned sheet , washed and ironed pillowcases and towels , rescued bins after bin men came , cleaned kitchen , and anti bac’d shopping delivery ....so not a bad day Been cool and drizzly all day , so now I’m lounging on the sofa watching Brokenwood Hope everyone else is having a good day too .

Mollie , thanks for the tips about the blonder ....the conditioner definitely helped . Plus I finally managed to get a hair trimmer yesterday .....they’ve been out of stock since lockdown ! I’m no hairdresser , but my hair now looks half decent again Lovely that you got to see your friend again  Hicky , awww congratulations on becoming a granddad again My dad used to love playing chess .....he had a set that was hand carved while he was in Japanese POW camp .....after he died I gave them to my son

Wild Cuba and Joanna Lumley on tv tonight , so that’s me sorted Hope you both have a good evening , whatever you are watching ....and as always , take care

Baz

Evening Baz.

Glad you slept ok, you have been busy today.

I can imagine a hand carved set of chess, wow how super is that.

I have 2 games going at the mo, one is a girl who used to play at a chess club we belonged to, not sure where she is now, and my lad started another game, his move at the mo.

Theres a few programs on tonight, those 2 you mentioned and a new Salvage Hunters.

My seafood arrived after lunchtime, put a tub of jellied eels into the fridge with a dressed crab.

The Manx kippers are big, mind you i ordered large.

Made a loaf, i have loads of wholewheat so decided to make a loaf to use some of it, the recipe suggested 80% to 20% white bread flour so did that.

Had a crust to try with butter, oh yes, nice.

I sliced the whole loaf using the cutting aid, so easy, have put into ziplock bags and into the freezer.

Got in a mess with the dry ice that was in the delivery box, i put the bags into the sink, about 8 of them, thought the ice would melt, forgot dry ice isn't water so it all stuck to the sink, tried hot water, it does nothing, put all the bags into the sink, that did nothing and the bags stuck to the sink so couldn't get them out, but water on and just got a cloud rising, emptied the bags then scooped them up into a bowl on the worktop, then couldn't pick the bowl up as it was frozen to the worktop, so scooped the ice out into a cullender and through it outside, wow.

Stay safe, keep smiling and sleep tight.

Baz

pleased to hear you had a better nights sleep and managed to get all your jobs done.

Well done getting your hair looking fairly good again with the help of the trimmers.

I too am watching Joanne Lumley tonight, what a lovely lady she is. I was interested seeing how old photos of when she was a model years ago.

That is interesting about your dad and the hand carved chess and Japanese POW camp. How nice that you handed it down to your son, as it has so much history in its story. My grandfather was also in a Japanese POW camp. My nan told me he was like a skeleton when he came home, but at least he came home.

Hicky

2 chess games at the same time, wow, that keeps your brain going.

I bet you enjoyed the crust from your home baked bread. My OH made one too, I think the best bits when it first comes out are the crusts eaten hot with lots of butter on. Yum, yum. We too have been using the cutting aid you recommended it does help.

Gosh getting rid of that dry ice was a pain for you, wasn't it? I have never come across that before.

Yes very odd how they replaced one pole out of the 20, wonder if it has a different purpose to the others?

We already have fibre broadband, but its not very fast , also we can't get Virgin fibre, so maye Openreach were working on that?

Not a bad day, bit drizzle now and again, but dog still got a walk in, and I had a quick read on the swingchair.

Son made roast dinner, really enjoyed his Yorkshires.

Has scones, clotted cream and strawberries after.

Goodnight both xxx

M

Evening Mollie.

When i was playing chess for a chess club, now and again we used to have a chess master to come for a night and play a number of us, he or she used to play about 24 games or more at the same time, we were in a square and the guest walked around the inside, good fun, we never won mind.

The workmen were here again today, 2 vans for hours, but tonight neither of the posts are lit, strange.

The dry ice is standard when delivering frozen fish etc but never seen so much, but they put enough in the sealed polystyrene box in case the delivery is held up a day, it sure keeps the contents frozen.

One problem with dry ice is you mustn't pick it up with wet hands as it will stick to your fingers and it won't come off.

I don't understand how you can have fibre that isn't very fast, something very strange and wrong there, so you have a box were the line comes in with fibre core ending in an a connection box, to test the broadband speed google broadband test, or use this, https://www.broadbandspeedchecker.co.uk/

Your son is good on the roast dinners and Yorkshire puddings.

Stay safe and sleep tight.

Hicky
