Hicky

good to hear Baz has had the op at last. Let's hope she recovers ok enough to get home soon. And even though, its not going to be easy for her coping at home, I think she will be relieved to be back in her own home.

I think you made the right decision to pass on the breakfast out. Despite being inundated with special offers (eg..a 40% off today), there's no way i am eating out now.

I agree a lot of companies are in big trouble now, in fact I think the world as we knew it has changed. I just hope this virus doesn't stay around too long.

Not surprised the shelves were empty when your OH went to work. I tried to book an online delivery and there were none for the whole of the 3 weeks. I did manage to get one from Asda though, but the next one was 3rd April. I am now avoiding going to Costco.

I am reminding myself of my mother the way I am talking about not wasting food ("we lived through the war rationing you know, so we don't waste food" she always said).  Bless her.

As there is 5 of us at home, we get through a lot of food each week and with it being harder to get hold of now, I have told the family no one is allowed to waste a thing. eg left overs of last night's boiled potatoes to be fried tonight, I put cheese on top of left over mash again and enjoyed it as a pie. The choc and crisps treats we have are shared between us. Son who has mainly taken over the cooking  is very good at planning this though. Daughter makes the desert, we had lovely lemon cake yesterday, choc cookies next, but now son is complaining she is using the eggs too fast, so we won't get yorkshire puddings with tea.   They had no eggs at all when I went to Costo. Or crisps.

Your menus always sound so interesting.

Son is making white sauce and adding some chicken breast to it for tea tonight. We will add veg and his yorkshire puddings.

Raining again today, I wish the weather would improve, so we could go a nice walk.

I heard all the National Trust were opening their gardens for free, but just closing the houses attached to them. What a good idea to get people in the fresh air, but able to isolate away from others.

Good idea to spend some time in your summerhouse. Yes thank goodness it is nearly spring.

Have a good day.

M

Evening Mollie.

What a dreadful situation we find ourselves in with this virus.

Thank you Yogi19 Yes, hope all goes well for Baz now she has had the Op, another problem when she gets home though as i think her daughter works, and they have to worry about Covid-19.

I don't believe China when it says the virus started by being passed on from an animal, what a load of rubbish, my theory is that a person has been experimenting with a virus, and it either got out or it was leaked, the virus was to get rid of the massive problem encountered by countries with the massive pension problem with having such a huge amount of elderly persons now with everyone living past their sell by date, do you think it's a coincidence that theThqt young in general won't be affected, this virus is man made and i'm sure the fact it got out wasn't an accident.

Anyway, the temperature today was down to 8c with rain and cloud with a moderate breeze.

O/H did a shop today at Sainsbury's, she went at 7.30am and got a good shop, i think the supermarket problem will be eased over the next week.

I planted some beetroot seeds into those mini pots made of the same material as egg boxes, i can pu the lot in the ground, thats if the seeds grow, started with 40, the packet has 400 seeds in it.

Did some more tests on the BBQ, it seems to be the gas control for the burners, am scrapping it and have ordered a smaller one, gets delivered tomorrow from Argos.

Just had a couple of rounds of toast for brekkie.

For tea i cooked a duck breast and made a portion of rice and half a pint of chip shop hot curry sauce, oh, and i did fried rice.

Thats handy having your son doing the cooking and daughter the sweets, i get the tray of 15 eggs, o/h has her own food so she probably buys the dearer eggs.

Yes, it takes a lot of food to feed 5, and you don't all eat the same food, oh dear, another problem.

The weather should be better for the weekend anyway, unless the forecast changes.

The problem is, we have no idea who is carrying the virus so it's russian roulette really, the cases we have seen is the tip of the iceberg of course, so best assume everyone has it and could pass it on.

I will be spending a lot of time in the summerhouse, it's getting scary to even go out.

Have a good evening, stay in and stay safe.

Hi Mollie and Hicky, an update on Baz

She was in a lot of pain last night but they finally managed to sort out some meds for her. She doesn’t know when she will be allowed home and is, understandably, feeling very down.

Thank you Yogi19

Poor Baz, leaving the Op for so long will have caused real problems.

Hope they sort her pain out, can do without that on top of all she has been through, it will be bad enough when she gets home.

Thank you again, very kind of you.

Hicky

Evening All.

Poor Baz still in hospital and in pain, at least she had the Op, but will she pass the test to be able to come home?

Hope you are fit and well Mollie?

9c today, light cloud and a gentle breeze.

My dental app has been cancelled for 3 months.

My new BBQ ordered yesterday cam this morning, haven't finished building it yet as its not easy with 25% vision, but i should finish tomorrow.

Had eggs on toast for brekkie, for tea had a Laksa soup for tea then a few bacon ribs, will have a fruit tea cake soon.

O/H went to a funeral today, omg, then went to the farm shop, got me a nice topside joint that i cut into 4 pieces, 1 for Sunday, and froze 3, she also got 3 packs of bacon ribs, 1 just eaten and 2 frozen.

Won't be making a shopping list out as i don't have any more room anywhere, in fact had to put a load of potatoes she got Wednesday from Sainsburys, and carrots and onions, and i still have a load of big obions hanging in the summerhouse that i grew last year, i didn't use them as they are so big, but they look good.

Have a good evening.

Poor Baz.

Such a horrible situation for her to be in.

Let's hope she can settle a little now they sorted meds, and can get home soon.

Thanks again Yogi for the update.

M

Hi Hicky xxx

Poor Baz, as you say, let's hope she can pass the test to come home soon. I remember I had to show the physio I could walk up and down the stairs before i was allowed home from hospital. So I hope the meds do control the pain for her to enable her to walk ok with the crutches.

Yes does sound a bit od that we are expected to believe this awful virus started with an animal.

My son's dental hygienist appointment was also cancelled today. Everythings on hold for our own healths sake. I read London might be put on lockdown over the weekend. I did read they don't like to give much notice of things like this though, as when they did in Italy, ,many got out of North Italy just before lockdown.

That's good your OH got you things from the farm shop, and you are well stocked.

Daughter collected her prescription from doc's surgery, (3rd set of antibiotics for sinus!), she timed it for when the surgery would be quiet. Except when she took it to the chemist, the  chemist was closed till 3pm to give them chance to prepare for the high demand, the note on the door said. So we hung around awhile (I had gone too, so the dog could have a walk). She took the script in, but then decided not to wait on it because too many other people were coming in. So she has to wait until tomorrow now to collect her meds.I am hoping it will be quieter if we go first thing tomorrow morning.

Watched the last of The Race Round the World. Didn't enjoy this series much though, but couldn't find anything else to watch tonight.

Cold and wet here today.

Goodnight Hicky xxx

M

Hope Baz is recovering well from her op and will be home soon.

Hicky

hope you are well and had some decent weather so you could get in your garden.

Not a bad day here ,very cold but at least it was dry.

My washing dried well anyway.

Daughter managed to get her antibiotics from chemist because this time they were limiting the amount of people that went in each time.

Took dog a little walk and got washing dry.

Going to watch the drama "Vera" tonight, and record Gogglebox.

Have a good evening Hicky. xxx

M

Evening Mollie.

Dreadful times all round, my feet app cancelled now, oh dear.

Finished the BBQ today, hard with 25% vision mind, it works anyway.

Had egg sandwiches for brekkie and had a ham salad for tea, forgot the cheeses again, darn it.

Had a 60 minute vid call with Oz on my mobile this morning, great.

I'm thinking of trying a new way of growing veg, Hydroponics with just the bucket style tub, the lid and a little grow basket and a clay type of pebble, very easy.

It has the water tank similar to what the figs had, but this has no soil/compost at all.

I will buy the equipment needed, my brain needs to keep working and i'll have even more free time.

Yes, you need to prove you can manage when you get home from hospital, even worse if you are on your own.

1 person dies in Iran every 10 minutes.

The box of white large disposable gloves came today for o/h for work.

Yes if daughter goes early to the chemist she should be ok, she needs hand gel, gloves and a mask if she has one, you can't be too careful.

Watching Grat British Menu now.

Have a good evening, sleep tight.

Hicky

Evening All.

Hope you are ok Baz, not sure if they allowed you home or not, hope they stopped the pain, can do without that.

And hope Mollie is well and not suffering too much.

Not bad today, 11c again sunny and a moderate breeze like yesterday.

Slept in till about 11am then decided on a bbq brekkie, sausage, bacon smoked and not, black pud and 2 eggs with toast.

Spent a lot of time in the summerhouse, have ordered some GU10 lamp holders as i read the warm white LED lights will help the seedlings grow, i have loads of GU10 warm white lamps as that is what i took out, so have 3 boxes, thats 30 plus 3 as i gave 1 away.

I ordered all the stuff to do the Hydroponic grow system, it will keep me occupied.

I rang them as i didn't get an email from them, i paid though but haven't got an order number.

Hard to find new stuff to watch on yv, so many repeats.

Just having some fruit, banana, pear, 2 kiwi, very nice.

O/H was in work this morning, very worrying for me, her also as she is high risk as well, i am very high risk, at the top of the list.

Going to make a beef roast dinner tomorrow, got some nice spuds, carrots, cabbage and a nice piece of beef from the butcher, not sure what to do for brekkie, thats the problem when you have everything.

Have a good night, sleep tight.

Hicky

Hi Hicky xxx

Pity your foot appointment was cancelled, but no surpise really.

This awful virus is taking off now. Useless PM was too slow to lock down places, which has meant so many more lives being lost. His damn herd immunity idea is scandalous. He should not of been allowed to go against the World Health organisations advice.

A good idea to spend time in your summerhouse, as there is not many places we can go now,and at least you feel you are outside.

How nice you had a full hour video call with your lad and his family.

Good luck with the new growing scheme, let me know how you get on.

My OH now has more free time, so is going to try home grown food. He has started with a potato kit and compost. Trying carrots too.

Daughter got her meds yesterday, she arrived just before the chemist closed, and now they are only letting 1 person in at a time, which is much more sensible.

Yes very worrying for yuo about your OH still working with the public. Could she not now ask for time off by saying she has someone who is very vulnerable at home? I know someone who has a disabled son and they have put her job on hold for her to stay home.

Went with dog to seafront walk today as it was sunny. But it was horrible, too many people there, so we didn't even walk down the main seafront path, and all the usual cafes, pubs and even son's theatre all closed down. We won't be going back there for awhile. Tomorrow it is OH's birthday, so we have decided to stay home and dig out the boardgames we normally play over Christmas.

My washing dried nicely in the wind and sun though. And I had a quick sit on the swing chair, so that was good.

Managed to get some milk tonight from our village little tesco, as we had run out.

Watched Ant and Dec, very good tonight, in fact, better without the audience.

Then watched the Voice.

Goodnight Hicky xxx

M

Evening Mollie.

I'll have to try and cut my toe nails, they are very hard, i have all the gear i need, cutters, files etc, i know what to do by watching the pros so often.

There are many different methods of Hydroponics, the one i am doing is just one, some have pumps to pump air into the water, some have the water pumped around the tubs, some have house downpipe horizontal with holes in for the plants and water flowing through, I just want something to do, i can't not do anything.

I have never grown fruit od veg that had to be looked after, because i used to work away for a week or two my plants always looked after themselves with automatic watering, i had gravity watering 45 years ago growing tomatoes, i used to pick a bucket full a day then.

I have a feeling o/h has finished work now, she also falls into the risk category as she is able to get the flu jab abd has type 2 diabetes, and she should get some money.

I find it strange that people can walk around without a face mask, i would have thought they shouls be supplied to everyone, when o/h is coming in i put my disposable gloves on and take them off when i go outside, the virus could be on anyone and on anything, it could have been on your milk, did you disinfect the bottle when you got in, and you shouldn't have touched it without disposable gloves on, just assume everyone has the virus and everything outside in the shops etc has the virus on it, simple really if you want to stay alive, that is.

I ordered some special fertiliser that was on a video i was watching, i never dreampt i could get it in this country, it is 3 packs, Calsium Nitrate, Masterblend 1488 and Magnesium Sulphate (epsom salts) i probably have some of them in the garden store shed but they tend to get damp.

I tried on Amazon but it was currently unavailable, not sure why, but i got it from Ebay so pleased about that.

Got some lovely buds on the greenhouse grape vine, will have to count them.

Sleep tight.

Hicky

Evening Everyone.

Hope you are ok Baz, hope you can manage using your crutches and getting your meals, tough times ahead.

Hope you are keeping well Mollie, how is the throat?

Had brekkie in the Gazebo again and did the bacon and toast on the BBQ, nice.

Spent time in the summerhouse, my GU10 lamp holders came, got to sort a hanging system for the lights now.

In the greenhouse the grape vine is coming on, i have 150 buds between the 6 lengths of the cordon, the vine outside is a different variety and buds later.

O/H wants to get the Jet wash out to clean the decking, it's not something you would do in a day, as i built about 70 sqm of decking.

It was like a summer day here today, it was over 25c in the summerhouse, the auto windows had opened, also the greenhouse roof vent was open.

I had a swing on the swing seat in the sun, a lovely day.

O/H has ordered an exercise bike so she can do some keep fit as she can't go out.

The TV is hopeless will have to watch my vast video recording store, think the How is it made is now 80.

Have a good evening, stay in and stay safe.

Hicky

Hi Mollie and Hicky Hope you are both doing alright . I’m home, but pretty well immobile still , so feeling very helpless and scared But I guess everyone is to some degree .....I’m hoping that things will improve once I’ve settled down a bit . I can’t get on with the walker at all ....it’s really hard on the carpet ....so I’m thinking of getting a wheelchair ...just to make things a bit easier . Anyway , I will try and post more tomorrow ....I get very tired . Take care of yourselves and stay safe

Baz

Evening Baz.

Oh dear, what a struggle, you have come out of hospital to the worst conditions the country has ever been in, and all because of China, i still say this virus is manmade, otherwise they would have shown us where and how it came from.

China has 1400,000,000 people and they blame 1 animal, you have to laugh.

You can get the wheeled walker, 4 wheels and brakes on the handles that you can hold to lock the wheels while you sit, it has a seat as well, it will go over any carpet.

They might be able to supply you with one of these.

Walking Aid with seat

Glad you could pop in, hope you will be able to manage.

Hicky

Aaaww Baz. so good to see you.

You are bound to feel so exhausted having recently had an op and now having to cope with getting around the house and looking after yourself.

Hope you can get a wheelchair sorted if it makes life easier for you.

Hi Hicky xxx

hope you can manage to cut your toenails, mind you don't fall or pull a muscle when you do so though.

Glad to hear your OH has finished work, but should get some money, and I hope she does too. After all she has been doing important work till now  and a lot of business people will get this money.

Yes I disinfect everything that comes into the house, wiped down all the milk bottles we got from the supermarket. How are you going to manage to get your food in now OH is not at work? It is so hard to get a slot for food delivery right now. I even wipe the cardboard down when I get Amazon stuff. What a terrible thing this virus is.

It is good your hyrdoponics is keeping your busy, and with it being dry it is nice for you to get in your summerhouse, and your light system too now. Gosh 25c is nice and warm for you. I sat on the swingchair and enjoyed a read of my book, and the washing dried well. It was warm in the sun, but also a cool breeze, but very nice.

Sounds like you will have a few nice grapes to look forward to this year.

Gosh 45 years! I didn't know you had been growing tomatoes for that long. This is my OH's first try. He is still waiting on fertilizer delivery right now.

I watched Race Round the World tonight.

Goodnight Hicky, sleep well. xxx

M

Evening Mollie.

I'll have to try and cut my toenails on the bed, have to use that to support my leg and bend themso i can reach, the false hip makes that leg more of a challenge as well.

I think o/h can make out an online shop and go pick it up from the car park, thats what i think, i only need bread and spread, eggs, i have plenty of most stuff. o/h doesn't have the smae stock as me.

Yes, we need to disinfect any delivery, as you say, Amazon, the post, can't take a chance.

Yes, get in the sun whenever possible, the swing chair is ideal for that.

I haven't covered mine up this winter as i wanted to use it on a nice day.

I will have plenty to occupy me now for the Spring/Summer.

If you are growing the tomatoes in compost, the compost you buy has feed it for up to 6 months, but you feed the plant when it has the second truss of tomatoes starting then feed the plant with Tomorite as shown on the container, if you feed it too early it wont fruit it will just grow leaves.

Have a good evening, sleep tight.

Hicky

Good Evening Everyone.

Baz hope you are able to manage now you are home, what awful times, one problem after another.

Mollie, hope you are well, stay home is the only way out of this problem i think.

Far to many people still meeting and gathering on railways etc, madness.

Just had eggs on toast for brekkie.

O/H got the jetwash out this morning to clean the Gazebo and the decking below, she got water on the power sockets inside and tripped all the power as it's all controlled by RCD safety circuit breakers, my computer, tv, the phone system, the whole building, i was on my knees with the mains cupboard open looking for a tripped breaker, bother, it was a struggle to get back up.

For tea i had some old beef rendang biryani, made more rice and made a pan of chip shop curry to go over it.

I finished the LED rail, put 7 lampholders on a piece of wood i cut, it is hanging over the seed trays for now, just put 5 lamps in as i only have 2 trays underneath.

My new Hydroponic tubs should come tomorrow.

O/H found 2 rather nice Face masks in the garage, left over from the workers doing some jobs years ago, she has ordered 2 online

Have a good evening, stay in and stay safe.

Hicky

Hicky

We too don't cover up our swing chair, we just put away the seat cover to keep it dry. I managed a nice swing again in the lovely sunshine today.

Thank you for the tomato hints. OH still waiting on fertilizer delivery before he can do anything.

Hope your hydroponic stuff arrives tomorrow.

oh dear at your OH tripping all the power. Good job you could fix it, even though it was a struggle.

We too have had one of those days. This time we found water coming through the ceiling in another room! So had to ring LL to get plumber out else the electrics could blow. Its so complicated now, when you are trying to self isolate though. We had to keep distance from him with door propped open so he didn't need to touch them, then disinfect the areas he had been in. He showed me he was wearing his rubber gloves. Turns out the water tank cylinder has broken, so he had to drain the tank and now we have no hot water until it can be replaced. He said with the lock down he wasn't sure how long it would take to come.Oh no, my son had a cold shower tonight and he said it was awful!

Doc's receptionish rang me today to check about my chest x ray, and when I had it, and told me not to go to surgery. She told me they had sent an inhaler down to the chemist to be picked up by someone for me. Daughter said she'd get it. How life has changed for us all.

All I hope now is we keep well. You are doing right keeping to just visiting your summerhouse.

Hope poor Baz is managing at home on her own. Going to be very difficult for her.

Goodnight Hicky xxx

M

Evening Mollie.

Don't understand why o/h is waiting for the fertilizer? isn't he growing the veg in compost?

And i don't think carrots like fertiliser in the compost before you plant them.

Hydro stuff could be coming tomorrow, its strange, i have 2 places saying they are going to deliver it, APC & DPD so not sure whats happening.

Oh dear, more water, thats even more serious, needing a new tank, didn't realise you still had a tank in the loft, thought they were done away with years ago.

I'll have to order meds in a week, will ring surgery, was wondering if i could get 3 months supply to save problems picking them up.

Daughter needs a face mask and rubber gloves to pick up your prescription, else you are all at risk.

Sleep tight.

Hicky

Afternoon Mollie and Hicky  Hope everyone is having a good day ....or as good as possible under the circumstances . I’ve managed to do a little bit more today ...wheeled myself into the kitchen and sat by the back door and got some fresh air ......but everything wears me out...both physically and emotionally  The hospital phoned and I’ve got to go to the fracture clinic on Friday ....goodness knows how I’m going to get there

Mollie , hope you managed to get your inhaler ok Hicky , getting three months meds makes sense ...if they let you do it Hope you both have a good evening

Baz

Evening Baz.

13c today ans sunny with a light wind.

You will have to get a taxi to the hospital won't you.

Had sausages on the BBQ for brekkie, nom, nom.

A lot of my Hydroponic stuff came today so have plenty to do.

Had prawn curry and fried rice, apart from the rice it was from the freezer.

Need to get my meds from the pharmacy some how, not sure whats best yet.

It's pretty scary out there, had to wipe my delivery today with antiseptic wipes, a big parcel.

Stay happy, look after yourself, best you can.

Hicky

both xxx

Baz

yes I can imagine to do anything at all is exhausting, and that alone plus getting over an op, and thinking about this virus is bound to make you emotional. You are doing well though if you managed to wheel yourself into the kitchen and got some much needed fresh air at last.

As Hicky says, you will need a taxi for hospital. Many taxi companies do ones that cater for wheelchairs now. I used to use one for my mum, she didn't have to get out of the wheelchair as they just tied it up in the back. Good luck sorting it.

Hicky

That was a nice treat to have a BBQ sausage brekkie.

Yes makes sense to get a large order of meds so you don't need to think about it for some time. Do you have someone to collect it for you, or can you get it delivered?

Luckily we have some good masks as we got some weeks ago, so will give to daughter to wear and we have got some rubber gloves.

This house is only 20 years old, but don't think they were well built then, as things are going wrong. It doesn't have a modern combi boiler so that is why the hot water is from a tank. Luckly the plumber rang and said he has managed to get the part now ,and will install first thing in the morning, so we have only been 2 days without hot water. It is a part that fits under the hot water tank.

That's good your hydroponic stuff will keep you busy because none of us can go far now. Thankfully the weather has been good for a few days now. Let's hope it continues.

Yes very scary now, so many precautions we need to remember to do. We too wipe all parcels down, then wash our hands after touching them.

We are now using dried milk as we are low on milk and do not want to go to the supermarket unless absolutely necessary. Son used it to cook potato and carrot gratin in white sauce and it was great. Couldn't even tell it was not fresh milk being used. OH has made a wholemeal loaf and daughter has made a white loaf and some brown rolls today as we are low on sliced bread.

OH said the sites he looked at said to use slow release fertilizer. But it is all new to him.

Enjoyed sitting on swing chair reading my book today. Sorted out a bit of paperwork with accountant.

Watching the Windsors now on c4, ever watched it? I think its so funny.

Have a good evening both. xxx

M

Evening Mollie.

They only made the prescription for 1 month, no it has to be picked up from the pharmacy in Sainsbury's some how.

To be honest, i doubt if the face mask and rubber gloves is enough or thats what they would be wearing in hospital, the staff i mean, but it's not, you need a full gown and the whole head and face, every part of your body in fact.

Thats the problem, and it's not the ones who are coughing and sweating you need to worry about, its everyone who is a carrier and have no symptoms.

I thought the hot water tank was a cylinder in a cupboard and the tank in the loft was to top the cylinder up with cold water when you use the hot, what is under the hot water tank, never heard of that.

We had another vid call from Oz this morning, had pictures from another lad making bread in a machine for the first time, had messages from another lad showing his food he makes, and his drwing, all working from home.

Bread using 50/50 white and wholemeal is good, need to add multi seeds though to make it more tasty to toast.

If you are going to grow veg in the ground the fertiliser should have gone in a while ago, if you are using tubs with shop bought compost you don't need fertiliser till later in the year as it come with the feed already in.

Don't put fertiliser down where you plant carrots, they don't like it.

Not sure about the slow release fertiliser, the best stuff for veg etc is a liquid feed so it can take it up straight away, i usually make my own compost tea when the plants are growing, the solid feed or powder feed is usually put in the ground long before spring.

Yes, dried milk is handy to have in, i have it in my coffee thats all, i haven't got a lot though.

We have moved 2 of the big wooden benches onto the slate at the side of the garage and going to move the swing seat onto it as well.

Not really interested in the Winsirs, they aren't interested in me.

I new Chantelle would never stop loving Preston, you could tell, their divorce must have killed her for ever.

I don't know what this treatment is, it can't effect the virus but maybe it helps the side effects of the virus, the body is the problem, if you can stop it trying to help a lot of people can live through this, it's not the virus that kills people, its what you body does to try to help that does.

But anything at this time is a bonus if it can keep people alive.

Have a good evening, sleep tight.

Hicky

Evening All.

Hope you are ok Baz and Mollie, trying times all right, at least the weather is playing ball.

Hope you are able to manage Baz, it's going to be a struggle till things ease.

Like a summers day here, 16c sunny with a gentle breeze.

Got loads done, working on my Hydroponic system, cutting the holes for the plant mesh plantpopt that goes in the tank lid.

help fit new adhesive door thingies that go on the floor between 2 floor edges to cover the joint.

Didn't eat today, didn't get time so for tea had what i was going to have for brekkie, an omelette with onion, peppers, mushrooms, cheese and 3 eggs, very nice really.

My plant feed, 3 packs arrived.

I rang the taxi company, they will do a collect and drop off for the meds so got them from the pharmacy.

And i am now enrolled fro the special inline shopping from Sainsbury's that if we can get a slot.

Rang the scrapman to see why he hasn't picked up the old BBQ, they have been stopped, oh dear.

One neighbour left a little plant on the doorstep yesterday with a card asking if we need anything she can pick it up for us, how nice.

I even took my zip jumper off today it was so hot, 26c in the summerhouse.

The seedlings are looking good, the steps are straight up rather than leaning to the windows.

I added a bracket over the seedling lights so i can adjust the position easier.

As i can't see rain in the forecast for the next 2 weeks i better get my watering system working tomorrow or i will need an awful lot of watering can fulls.

Have a good evening, stay in, stay happy and stay safe.

Hicky

Hi both xxx

Baz

I am sure you are exhausted after the op and trying to cope at home. Hope you are resting plenty though.

Hicky

that's a shame they only do the prescription for a month and you need to pick it up. I know someone else are allowed to pick up for people, so what a good idea to get the taxi to collect. Did you just ring any taxi and ask them to do it? Did you have to tell the chemist you were doing this? As I would like to do this if possible.

I too am enrolled for Sainsburys delivery, but just can't seem to get an available slot.

Aaaww how sweet of your neighbour to offer to get you things.

Yes indeed you need full equipment to really protect yourself when you go in a shop/chemist now. I saw on tv, as well as gloves/mask, the best you can do is to remove outer clothing and straight in the wash when you get home, and leave shoes somewhere else for a few days. And of course wash hands before touching anything at all when you get home.

Yes the hot water tank was a cylinder thing in a cupboard on the landing. I am glad to say the plumber has fixed it. So we were lucky he could get a part.

Thanks for the veg hints. I read them to OH.

I got my dried milk off amazon as I am avoiding going to the supermarket and couldn't get a delivery till next month.

The Windsors is a comedy take off of the Royal family. The way they impersonate them is so funny.

Yes poor Chantelle never got over Preston. She is getting on age wise now, so makes you wonder if she will stay single forever now as no one else will measure up to him in her eyes?

We too have been lucky and got the summer weather. Enjoyed reading my book on the swingchair. The dog enjoyed a sunbathe too. OH was busy putting the soil stuff into bags, he was sieving it.

You have been busy today but it is not good to skip food all day, especially if you are doing physical work as it gives low blood sugar level, so take care.

What plant feeds do you use? Would they be of use to OH with his potatoes or carrots?

Yes its great that the forecast is showing a dry period but as you say , that means you need to sort out the watering system.

My birthday today and what a weird (but nice) one it was....as no cards in the post, despite the fact my elderly family always send one, but they couldn't this  this year, as they can't get out. No meal out of course, and couldn't pop over to neighbour for coffee and a card. But it was great, as she put some "Happy Birthday" banners and my name in her window for me to see. Daughter made a cake using some left over pineapple we already had, and some home made bread for brekkie, as we are short of bread. So despite being different, it was good. OH bought me a polaroid camera, so that will be fun. (when we can go somewhere that is!).

Just shared a glass of rose with OH, don't drink wine very often.

Goodnight both xxx

M

Evening Mollie.

Happy Birthday, of course, noone can get out to the postbox.

The surgery have had a directive, no extension to prescriptions, i suppose if everyone got 3 months and died from the virus, wow, a lot of waste money.

I only use one taxi firm, it's massive with 70 drivers on the books, they do collect and deliver so it wasn't a surprise to them at all, i did ring the pharmacy to check, they said no problem as lond as the driver has your name and address, it was only Β£4 something, i gave a Β£2 tip, ipaid them over the phone, they will pay the driver as with the 2 meter thing i couldn't go near him.

It seems there are no delivery slots yet, it wont be long.

I don't think Chantelle would be happy with someone else, it wouldn't work, if you love someone it would be like looking over your shoulder, her heart wouldn't be in a relationship, such a shame, amybe one day it will be rekindled, it often happens.

For potatoes i buy the potato feed,

I make most of my feeds, compost tea, i put 2kg aged manure in a muslin type cloth or a vey fine mesh bag and tie it, put it into a 40L builders tub and let it soak a day, stir it and you have a good solution,

Carrots i find the hardest veg to grow, the ground/compost has to be quite deep, no manure and all the ground put through a garden sieve, a carrot sends down 1 strand of root, if it hits a single thing it's finished, i find them a nightmare, good luck.

I found another bread video, wow, 2 perfect white snadwich loaves, i will post the link, worth a look, there is one from the deep south texas, taken from a lads recipe in the uk.

I might make the bread tomorrow but it's a lot of work, you can half the ingredients for 1 loaf.

This is the UK feller Bake with Jack

Hope you are both ok . I slept a bit better last night and managed a little more today ....washed my own hair , did a load of washing and tumble drying ....but I still get very worn out by mid day . I’ve got to go to the fracture clinic tomorrow and I can’t say I’m looking forward to it ....for several reasons ....but it’s got to be done . Hicky , that bread looks yummy

Great British Menu for me tonight .....so have a good evening and take care

Baz

Evening Everyone.

Hope you are able to manage Baz, bad enough trying to get around, at least you have Sammy for company.

Hope you and your lot are ok and managing somehow.

14c today, sun all day, no wind really.

It's a bit like being in Oz, fantastic, my rockwool came, i got all my computerised tatering times reset and online, turned the sistem to manual to get a 10 minute test, all worked fine.

Had bacon on the BBQ again, o/h doesn't like having no griddle so have ordered 1 to put over one of the burners, it can be used indoor as well on my induction hob, for tea had Korean seafood soup with a few extras.

O/H wants me to make her some white rolls, i was going to make a 2lb loaf, on looking for the loaf tin i realised i threw it out, i've got the big 4lb one of course.

500g flour will make 12 rolls.

O/H was talking about putting 4 sqm of 4cm fake grass down but they can't deliver, oh heck, she was talking about a water feature she saw.

I planted 10 seeds from the 23 peppers i had the other night, 5 in mini mesh pots in compost and 5 in rockwool blocks.

With all my apps cancelled not a lot to look forward to outside.

Going to see if i can get some of the watering pipes sorted for the 13 tubs down the bottow of the garden tomorrow while the weather is rather nice.

Have a good evening.

Hicky

Evening Baz.

Wonder why i couldn't see your post when i looked in, strange, just popped back to see if Molly had posted.

ou can only do so much, take it easy, sleep when you feel tired, don't want you doing any more damage to yourself.

Can you get a taxi to the clinic, all my appointments have been cancelled.

I opened the front door at 8pm lots of people out but with my eyes and the automatic lights coming on round the bungalow i couldn't see anyone.

Sleep tight, keep safe, but antiseptic gel on and wear disposable gloves if you go out.

Hi both xxx

Baz

thank you for the lovely Disney birthday piccie. I love Disney stuff. It sounds like you are progressing real well, but don't overtire yourself.

Hoping your fracture clinic goes well tomorrow. xxx

Hicky

Yes not only could my aunts not get to the postbox, they couldn't get to the shop to buy a card, nor the post office to buy the stamps! But I was happy enough with a phone conversation with them and to know they are well.

thank you so much for all the veggie growing hints. OH thinks the carrots sounds like they may be a problem for him as a newcomer. Never mind, he will give it a go, its not like he has much else on right now.

Thank you for the videos. we managed to get hold of big bags of bread flour, so we are ok for bread making. OH made another one with the bread maker but it does seem to collapse, especially the brown ones. But it tastes good. Daughter made 2 really nice ones without the bread maker, but then she is real good at baking cakes so I guess I shouldn't be surprised. I will show her those videos too.

I agree this sun is just lovely, and it is great all the work you are managing to do whilst it is so nice. Another nice day here too, all my washing dry and a nice swing on my chair for me today.

Shame they can't deliver the grass, but no surprise really as things are getting worse out there with this dreadful virus. I love water features, OH bought me one once , it was lovely, one of those Buddha shape ones.

Good idea to try and sort as much as you can whilst the weather is nice.

I did similiar today to what I did yestereday.   Sat in garden, sorted washing out.

couldn't find much on tv tonight.

Went onto doorstep at 8pm to clap NHS, it was quite noisy as most of the neighbours did. The NHS staff need more than this though! Abosolute disgrace how they don't have the suitable protective clothing putting their lives at risk whilst they help others. Sadly the last 10 years of Tory cutbacks in NHS is really taking its toll now. They were overun before this virus problems even started.

Goodnight both  xxx

thinking of you tomorrow Baz, I am sure you will be exhausted by the time you get back. Such a struggle for you to get around at the moment.

M

Evening Mollie.

I started using the bread machine for the kneeding to save me some work, it says you need 8 minutes and best set a timer, mbut don't look at the time.

I think you should show your daughter as you say, think it will give her ideas/advice, bread is so different to cake making.

And what amazed me was the order ingredients went into the bowl to start, not the same as machine instructions, but the loaves he made looked perfect to me, i would be delighted with that result.

Yes, while we have nice weather i can get so much done, o/h does the same, she is running out of things to do.

O/H was resting on the seat swing, all of her was on it, i had a rest on it as well.

She has tidied up all the garage, nothing left to tidy, it's so strange both being at home all the time.

It seems they have the protective gear, it's getting it to those that need it seems to be the problem, not only that, but they don't need just one set of protective gear a day, they need a lot because they have to keep changing, if they gom to the loo or to eat they have to start again so they are using the stocks as quick as they are made/supplied.

Have a good evening, sleep well and have a lovely day tomorrow.

Yes, hope Baz gets sorted for the clic app tomorrow.

Hicky

Evening Everyone.

Hope you are ok Baz & Mollie, terrible times, so much more difficult for Baz, hope you got seen to at the fracture clinic.

12c today here sunny with a gentle breeze, made 12 bread rolls using the bread recipe, hard, kneading for 8 minutes but it has to be done, they seem fine, will know in the morning when i have brekkie from the BBQ, my new cast iron griddle came this morning only ordered it last night, i can use it on the BBQ or on my induction hob, very pleased.

O/H went to the butchers, got lots of lovely meat/bacon/sausage etc, she didn't go to the farm shop as she couldn't get through on the phone so went to the main shop, taking as many precautions as poss with what we have, and over the road was a petrol station with a small local Sainbury's attached, she went in and got more stuff

Had 2 pork pies for brekkie, at midday and for tea we both had some bacon ribs.

Been marking out the are o/h wants for the fake grass, now down to 4 x 3m as she wants a border all round.

Hoping to do more on the watering system for the veg tubs tomorrow.

So, stay in and stay safe.

Hicky
