Baz

hope you are keeping well, and hope Samm is behaving. Did you go out today?

Hicky

how is the eye today?

Sounds like you are enjoying those cupcakes.

Stayed home today, did a few washloads and some tidying and sorting.

A typical autumn day, cold, dull with a bit of drizzle. I am back in the warm boots to go out in.

Looking forward to seeing what disaster our Apprentices can make of their task tonight.

Have a good evening both xxx

M

Evening Mollie & Baz.

You have a post on each page so opened another page to make it easy to see both.

11c today, sunny intervals and a moderate breeze.

Had  no brekkie as we went to the farm shop, got some nice fullet steak, mushrooms, bananas, sausages and 1kg of mince, love making meals with mince, so easy.

My new camera came, have been setting it up, it's so clever, wow, took the other one down, mounted the new one, called it up on my mobile, have to turn on Bluetooth to talk to the camera then it sets up a Wifi itself, i then connect with Wifi and can see what the camera sees, look at the recorded files, download them, the camera takes 2 files, the high res one and a low res one incase you have to send it my social media.

It has built in Alexa as well so you can talk to the camera and ask it for the weather, news, directions, play music, it can use maps from your mobile etc.

I had a dash cam in the front room ever since i stopped driving and sold the Land Rover but the touch screen packed in.

I might put the HDC200 either in the greenhouse or in the gazeb, looking out of course.

For tea had a seafood noodle soup and will have a scone in a minute, had one more in the freezer.

You know the Grandpa's Kitchen were i got all the inspiration for my Indian meals, well, he has died, i saw a video 6 days ago which had been live and he didn't look well, then i got a notification today that said: "

Grandpa's An Emotional and heart touching final journey | grandpa kitchen.

It is his last rites and funeral etc, very moving.

His channel has 6 million subscribers.

If you want to see the videos i can post them for you, unless you are subscribed then you may have seen them.

It looks like his grandchildren will be taking over the channel to cook for the orphan children, they posted a video 4 days ago when he was ill, the first video shows him being shown video messages from all over the world wishing him to get well soon.

Mollie, To use the dashcam in the house you need to buy the power supply, this one is good: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0...189395841_TE_3p_dp_1

This is the support website, the manual can be downloaded from the left side list, it is a PDF so easy to resize etc.

That was nice taking your friend and great grand children to Costco, and a toy shop, wow, they would love that.

I don't watch bakeoff now, gone off it.

My eye is strange, between the 2 i can manage, the right one is going worse of course, it will be the cataract, the left one is strange, if i look at you with the left eye i wouldn't be able see your face and all around would be a blur.

Yes, The Apprentice will be interesting tonight, who will go next, i think the wrong one went last week.

Have a good Evening.

Baz, Hope all is well, hope Sammy behaving and hope you are taking it easy.

Hicky

Evening  Mollie and Hicky  I hope you are all having a good Wednesday . I had a lovely day yesterday with one of the girls from the forum......and then David winning Bake Off was the icing on the cake  Very sad that Will has had to pull out of Strictly though Today  I did a bit of housework and changed the bedding ....then, as it was sunny ,  I popped into town ....so that’s my fresh air and exercise done I’m looking forward to the Apprentice tonight too Anyway , just dashed in to say hi before Autumnwatch .....I’ll read back and catch up with all your news later . Have a good evening and enjoy the Apprentice

Evening Baz.

Cool today here at 9c with cloud all day and no wind.

Just had 2 sausage for brekkie, on the end of a fork, yummy.

Been messing with the new desk cam, got it going yesterday but it seemed to be playing up, anyway to cut a long story, after an hour messing it packed up completely, chatted with Amazon and they called me also on the line was the makers, we decided it had to go back, Amazon send me the paperwork etc and gifted me the total cost, since then i have reordered it to come tomorrow, so i can try again, i had just got talking to Alexa which is built in, in fact i asked what the weather was like and she told me.

For tea made an omelette with 5 eggs as i have plenty and added a load of mushrooms as i have loads.

Just going to see what to do with some ripe bananas, as i got more yesterday and have 3 ripe ones to eat from last week.

Glad you had a good day yesterday, that is what you need.

Yes, bad news about Will, such a shame.

The Apprentice, wow, how many stupid people can you get in one show, why don't they organise themselves better, rubbish, you cant buy something if you don't know what it is and they seem to put the people in the wrong positions, drives me mad.

Have a good evening.

Hicky

Happy Halloween both

Baz

so pleased to hear you had such a good day with a forum friend. Did you go out together or did she come and visit you?

Yes I too was pleased to see David win Bake Off. He deserved that win, despite the fact he had not done that well up until now, he just got on with it, no dramatics, he just focused.

I enjoyed the Apprentice, gosh their general knowledge for supposedly intelligent business people, seems to be sadly lacking.

Hicky

what a shame after all that wasted time, the desk cam has to go back.

I am sure that was a large omlette as it used 5 eggs, but sounds like you enjoyed it.

Dull but not wet here today, Stayed in and did some tidying and washing.

Had lots of little kiddies all dressed up come calling for Halloween. All came with mum or dad, or both. Luckily daughter had bought plenty of sweeties and a little toy for them. We have a few sweeties left, so we will enjoy them too.

Goodnight both , have a good evening. xxx

M

Afternoon Mollie and Hicky Hope you are both keeping well . I managed to take a tumble down the stairs yesterday No bones broken , but a bruise to end all bruises on one leg...and badly pulled muscles in the other one Talk about a plonker Took Sammy to the vet today to get flea stuff ....they won’t prescribe without seeing them.....and I’m happy to say she was a very good girl I think I’ve more or less decided that I’m going to keep her as a house cat ....she seems to have no desire to go out ....so....

Mollie , yes , David came across as a lovely guy ....and like you say no histrionics from him....unlike Steph and Alice . Gogglebox tonight Hicky , sorry about your desk cam, but I hope they can sort it for you . Yes, they really are a bunch of numpties on the Apprentice this year ....I can’t imagine any of them running a successful business Mind you, Lottie is the worst imo ....truly horrible !

Anyway , I hope you both have a good evening . Take care

Baz

Evening Mollie & Baz.

Happy November 1st.

14c today but light cloud and a moderate breeze.

Had 2 sausages on toast for brekkie.

The new camera came today, it's all set up and back in the window, posted the old one back this afternoon.

Have fitted the Halfords HDC200 into the greenhouse looking out of course, it is powered up as all outbuilding have power.

For tea decided on Spag Bol as i have lots of the sauce and mince and pasta, that was nice.

Had just 1 group of 4 last night for Halloween, so got some goodies over, made up 8 bags, ah well.

I've got a good weekend tv wise, Strictly, darts, F1, i'm spoilt.

I have ordered a cooks apron, the one i'm using needs changing, i wear one during meals as i make such a mess of my pants usually.

Mollie, Dash cam, not desk cam, i just like using them for the house instead of the car, the car will have its own.

Never thought of toys for the kiddies, but what happens if they don't come, i can eat toys.

The goodies that are left will last a while.

Baz, Oh heavens, thats dreadful, you are so lucky if you are only bruised, hope all the bruises soon go, probably need a week or two though.

At least sammy is sorted now with the Flea stuff, it might be the weather that is stopping her going out, or maybe with being in a strange place.

I would have thought at some point it would be good to let her out under supervision, because, if she hasn't been out and you forget one day and she slips out through the door and could get lost, because she wouldn't know where she lives basically.

I don't think i would fancy anyone of them working for me, at present, i wonder if any will show hope before long?

Have a good evening and weekend.

Hicky

Baz

Oh no, you poor thing falling downstairs is so horrid, it must of really shook you up. And the trouble is the aches, pains and bruises arrive later, and take awhile to go. Hope you feel ok soon though.

Well done to Sammy behaving so nicely at the vets.

Sammy certainly is a wise cat choosing not to go outdoors, especially this time of year. Maybe she will choose to go out in the summer, or maybe she had always been a housecat when you got her, so that is all she knows?

Yes hooray, proper Gogglebox with our old faves back again tonight.

I agree Lottie is the most annoying on Apprentice, but I guess they will keep her in to annoy us viewers.

Hicky

hope your cameras work ok now.

Yes I am sure a new cooks apron with be of great use to you, with all the various cooking you do.

Yes that is the trouble with the little toys for Halloween kiddies, its hard to guess how many to get. We give the leftovers to my friends twin great grandaughters.

Dull weatherwise again today, started pouring in the afternoon, think we are due a lot more tonight and tomorrow.

We went to the pub for tea on buy one, get one free meal. I had a delcious mushroom bouginion pie with mash and peas and jug of gravy.

Goodnight both, have a good evening xxx

M

Evening Mollie & Baz.

Only 9c today with light rain most of the day, forecast said a moderate breeze but at 9,ph i don't understand, hardly any at all.

Had bacon sausage egg tomato mushrooms and hash brown for brekkie.

My new apron came, nice.

Didn't spend any time in the garden, far too damp and miserable today.

For tea made chips using the spud peeler machine and chip cutter machine, and cooked them in the wok.

Watching Strictly, recording the darts.

Mollie, Yes, the new camera seems fine, been playing around with it, i have to set it up different with using it indoors of course.

You can't beat a good pub meal given the chance, pie mash and gravy is always a hit.

Baz, Hope you are OK, if you banged your head you must go to the hospital, i expect the bruises are out now, get well soon.

Hope Sammy is behaving.

Have a good evening.

Hicky

Baz

Hope you are feeling ok after that nasty fall and hope you are not too achy now with too many bruises coming out?

Hicky

no light rain here today, but heavy, heavy rain most of the day! We went to Costco but the country roads were starting to get flooded so we decided to come back with the football traffic on the motorway. Wasn't too bad though, just took a little while longer.

Home made chips, yummy, I had my usual cheapo but delicous meal in Costco today. It was incredibly busy there now the Christmas shoppers have started.

Does your apron have a pattern on it?

I ordered the Strictly Come Dancing Annual book for my mum's sister for Christmas and a tea advent calendar and a scarf. They all came today and I am pleased with them.

Watched the dancing, now watching Celeb X factor, I always enjoy that.

Have a good evening both xxx

M

Afternoon Mollie and Hicky Hope you’re both having a good Sunday . I’ve been  for my spa hour ...lovely facial and massage ..... so was relaxed for at least a little while Apart from that all I’ve done is a load of washing and some housework ....nothing too strenuous My leg looks a mess ...and black and blue doesn’t cover it ....but it’s not so sore now.

What did you both think of Strictly ? I thought Shirley was just plain nasty .....and the marking was ludicrous at times ....it’s almost as if they had made their minds up before the contestants even danced! But I’m looking forward to the new Escape to the Chateau tonight ....nice , feel good hour And Masterchef the Professionals starts Tuesday ...so I will have the gorgeous Marcus to perv over

Anyway , the results show will be interesting tonight , so have a good evening both Take care

Baz

evening Mollie & Baz.

12c here with light rain and a gentle breeze.

Had sausage and bacon on toast for brekkie.Had video session with Oz this morning, so good, lovely seeing them each week.

Picked more leaves up, just from the vine really as they are so big.

Decided to slow cook a Jacobs Ladder so i got out a rather large cast iron challow casserole thingy, fried the meat off, made a marinade type mixture up, it was sal/pepper/brown sugar/mustard powder/paprika/worcester sauce/olive oil/tomato, coated the meat in that then added some beef stock, put quartered potatoes in and a cauliflower in sections, put in the oven for 90 minutes, nice, it tasted yummy, have some potato and cauli over though, will have that for brekkie tomorrow.

Been watching the darts this afternoon, it starts again at 7pm, 8 minutes.

Am recording strictly for later.

Mollie, Not surprised Costco busy, a lot want to buy ealy for Christmas because stuff runs out.

This is the Apron: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0...189395841_TE_3p_dp_1

That book will be nice for your Mums Sister, good idea.

Baz, That was nice getting your spar etc, you need a break.

Sorry to hear about your leg, you should have it checked out you know, you shouldn't just ignore it.

Yes, Shirley is nasty, the girl with Anton works all week doesn't she so she only gets a certain amount of hours to train, are the judges just stupid, they shouldn't be judging the contestants as if they are pro's, it annoys me, they ant them to have the technicalities of someone who has been dancing for 5 years.

I'll record the Chateau tonight.

Have a good evening both.

Hicky

Evening Both.

11c today, light cloud, some sun and a gentle breeze.

Had sausage on toast for brekkie, decided on having the rest of the meal from last night for tea, added more gravy, very tasty.

We took the car to Halfords to get the dash cames fitted front and rear, went to B&Q for a wander around and a coffee while we waited, gave them my mobile, they have a 2 hour slot but they rang after an hour so we went and picked the car up, my 64gb micro sd cards had arrived the other day so gave one to the fitter to put in the camera, got a refund for the other 32gb one they had charged me for.

A 32gb only records 2 hours but on this camera set it records 2 videos one is high res the other low so you can share the low res on media easier, the high res takes a lot of mb and front/rear are separate files, 4 in all every minute, i use the 1 minute setting so the file is smaller, but you get 240 files an hour, you can use 2 min or 3 min file length but the files are larger of course.

I might get 128gb cards which hold double the amount of files/time, probably 6 hours driving, if it runs out of space it just overwrites over the oldest file.

Think the judges were totally wrong to send Emma home, can't believe they kept a cloud who has no idea of how to dance, think they had already made up their minds before they even had a dance off, what dance steps did Mike do?

Hope all is well, have a good evening.

Like this BT box, missed the Chateau yesterday, went on to c4 pressed back a day to Sunday, it landed on the Chateau, pressed play and it's on, great stuff.

you were certainly in need of that spa visit after your nasty fall. The bruising proves how fortunate you were to not have broken a limb! That is good the soreness has died down now, I expect it was very uncomfy for awhile though.

What did you think of the Strictly results then? I am guessing you were non too impressed!

Hicky

glad to hear you are continuing enjoying the weekly online sessions with your Oz family. I bet you can see a change in the baby each week.

You will never be short of work this time of year with all the leaf picking up.

at your apron,...can't believe you are a Grumpy old thing though.

Hope you are pleased with your camera. I guess it makes sense to sort it to be able to record a long period rather than a short one.

What is the BT box you got? and do you have to pay a subscription for one? Didn't you used to have a Humax like we have?

We used to have sky but when it broke, I cancelled the subscription as they kept putting the price up. OH has to pay extra to watch footie though now.

Had a cough the last few days, odd as I didn't appear to have a cold, bit better today though than it was. That time of year I guess for bugs and colds.

you had the flu injection this year didn't you Hicky? Did it make you ill when you had it? Did you have it Baz?

Weather here not too bad the last few days, at least the torrential ran eased off.

not done much, went to see a friend for a chat, but haven't been out far. Just done the usual washing and tidying, but my place soon gets untidy again with 5 of us and 2 pets!

Daughter gone to town and is bringing me back a cream scone, yum ,yum, probably not as nice as your home made ones though Hicky.

Have a good evening both xxx

Afternoon Mollie and Hicky  I’m  having an off  day ,so not done a lot , but I did manage to change the bed and wash and iron ...so not a total wasteWeather here is wet and dank ....but the gardener managed to mow the lawns ....last time til next year ....although they are coming to do a tidy up in a couple of weeks . Hope you are both having a good day though

Sorry about your cough Mollie Yes, I always have the flu jab ....having had a couple of bouts of bad flu in the past ....but apart for a sore arm for a day or so I’ve never had any side effects from it . What pets have you got Mollie ?

Hicky , I totally agree about Strictly judging ! How is your eye now ?Your gbs sound terribly complicated Will you be watching Masterchef tonight ?The arnica seems to have helped my bruise a bit

Anyway , I hope whatever you are doing you both have a good evening . Take care

Evening Both.

11c today with light rain till 10 am with a moderate breeze.

Had 4 soft boiled eggs with toast for brekkie.

Spent a couple of hours filling in the info needed to get a Blue Badge, can only try.

For tea decided to have one of the 4 curried burger meals i made a while back, cooked some rice to have with it, very nice too.

Mollie, Yes, the young one is coming on fine, she can get around fine now walking and climbing over everything.

O/H calls me grumpy because i am always complaining, she won't complain, i believe in telling them what i think.

No, i record small files by setting the time period to 1 minute, it can download to your mobile quicker.

Not sure about the BT box, just their normal one, o/h has one as well, the Humax broke down, had 2 of those.

We had Sky many years ago, it's just not worth the money, until you can choose the stations you want i'll never go back to them< it's just a scam making you have tons of no good programs to get one you want, i think it's a disgrace having the monopoly like that.

O/H pays extra to watch footie as well.

I have the Flu jab every year, never had a problem, never made me ill.

I'm making some more scones as SIL & MIL calling in Monday, will make and bake and freeze.

Some fireworks are causing an Alert on the dash cam, they record any load bangs or knocks by locking the file so it won't be overwritten, it will record a 10 second section before the alert and the same after it, normal dash cam recording front and rear records everything from when you turn the ignition on, it never stops recording till you switch the engine off, it just divides the recording into whatever size you specify in the settings.

The last 2 batches of scones worked well because i used the knead function of the breadmake and ran it twice, each is 15 minutes.

Baz, Sorry you are having an off day, well at least the gardener cut your lawn.

My eyes are quite annoying, the good one going worse, the bad one, not sure now what is going on, if i look at your face and close my right eye, your face disappears, if i look at a face on the tv i can't see it with my left eye, but if i look away a bit the face comes on the screen, if you know what i mean, i have a dead spot in the middle, not sure why yet.

Yes will watch masterchef the Pro's.

Have a good evening.

Hicky

Evening Everyone.

Cool today at 7c with light rain and a gentle breeze.

Didn't have brekkie, went to the farm shop, going to make leek soup so got lots of veg to go in it, and they sure have lots of lovely fresh veg, got a couple of lamb shanks, salami, crumbly cheese, steak pies, 1kg of unsmoked back bacon.

O/H decided to change all the bulbs in the bungalow, i bought 35 new GU10 5w day light LED ones to replace the original ones i had fitted when we got the place rewired when we moved in, o/h said the warm white didn't give enough light but with we having trouble when i had the hip replaced and getting dizzy if i looked up at the ceiling and o/ having her knee replaced we never got round to changing them, i suggested we get someone in to do the job, next thing she's got the short steps and changing the bulbs, all done now.

Did some work in the garden between showers, started trimming some of the growth on the outside vine, wow, some of the growth is 2 or 3 meters, i will use some of the growth to replave old canes or extend the length.

For tea decided on a Laksa soup mix then a bacon on toast, my special breat does make a nice toast.

Tried to get the gardener to give me a hand today, but he was late finishing his last job so maybe tomorrow or friday.

Will make the scones in the morning and soup in the afternoon.

Have a good evening all.

Hicky

Baz

sorry to hear you had an off day yesterday.

Hope you felt a bit better today.

I bet your garden looks nice and neat now.

Pet wise we have a 14 year old little black dog that we had as a puppy, so she is a real old lady who mainly sleeps but likes  a little walk each day, at a strole pace though. We also have Sidney bunny, who lives in our hallway, he runs round there and just goes in his cage at night. He is 2 years old, daughter chose him from RSPCA rescue centre. How is Sammy getting on now?

Hicky

I am sure a blue badge for you would make liife a lot easeire for you. My friend got one recently. The first time she put in for one, she got turned down (she has to use 2 crutches) but the 2nd time, she got someone recommended from the local library who helps disabled people apply for things, and then went to the council about her badge and she got it. So is there any company in your local library or maybe the CAB who could help you fill the form in, or even take it to the council  with you like my friend's lady did?

Bet your son and wife have to keep a close eye on baby now she can get around.

Good job your OH didn't tumble off the steps replacing the bulbs, but at least its done now.

Its lucky you got a break in the showers to be able to do a bit in the garden.

Bit showerey here too, and quite cold but could be worse. Didn't go out today, as still feel a bit off with this cold and have a sore throat too. Not too bad though, just enough to ake me feel tired. I was supposed to work at the school yesterday and tomorrow, but had to send my apologies as didnt' feel up to it and it would not be good to be coughing all through the exams.

Looking forward to the Apprentice tonight.

Have a good evening both xxx

M

Afternoon Mollie and Hicky Hope you are both managing to stay dry ....it’s wet and cold here ! My daughter popped over for an hour , but apart from that I’ve not done a lot ...just a bit of housework and some washing . I am hunkering down for next couple of days , but have to pop into town on Saturday , weather permitting !

Mollie , there are an awful lot of colds going around ....my daughter and my friend both have one ....hope yours clears up soon Awwww we thought about getting a house bunny once , but couldn’t cover all the electric wires , so....What did you think of the Apprentice

Hicky , I agree that should try for the blue badge ....my husband had one for about 6/7 years because of mobility problems ...certainly made life a bit easier .I thought the first batch of Masterchef contestants were better than the second bunch ....it will be interesting to see who survives the first quarter final tonight

Anyway , hope you both have a good day and evening .

evening Mollie & Baz.

Cool again at 7c with rain all day and a gentle breeze.

Stayed in, had a cold steak and gravy pie for brekkie, then made a tray of scones with fruit.

Will start making the leek soup tomorrow, will make a couple of litres of it.

Had 2 scones this afternoon then for tea had a tin of mushroom soup with added mushrooms and some turmeric powder.

Mollie, I filled the form in online, it took hours, don't think i have much hope mind.

We get pictures and videos every day from the Nursery where granddaughter is during the day, it is a fantastic place, they set the children learning things to do all the time, very clever.

Yes, i was a bit concerned about o/h changing the bulbs but she was fine, they are pretty easy to change anyway.

can't be helped if you aren't well enough to go to the school, you don't want to pass anything on.

I am losing heart with the Apprentice, far too many idiots, noone listens, they just mess it all up, the losing side this week i would have got rid of 3 of them, but they can't because the show has to go on for a period of time.

Baz, You don't need to do anything, take it easy and watch the world go by, unless you have something that can't wait a day or two.

Watched masterchef, wasn't impressed rerally, some made such a mess of some of the challenges, and they are supposed to be chefs.

Have a good evening both.

Hicky

Baz

that's nice you had a visit from your daughter especially as you were staying in with the weather being so bad. Hope your daughter gets rid of her cold and doesn't pass it on to you. Mine is a lot better today thanks, think the warm manuka honey/lemon and ecanacia drinks helped.

Yes if you have a house bunny, they do love wires, and ours likes the skirting boards so OH has had to cover parts of it up and isolate all wires! once I rang sky  to complain it wasnt' working, then I realised it wasn't working because the bunny had bitten through the wires!

Apprentice was brilliaint. especially the way that lad with the dark hair was screaming, and does that Lottie ever shut up! Right bossy madam.

Hicky

thats good you are still enjoying your scones and it is definately soup weather, I had half tin tomato soup for lunch today with some fresh crusty bread.

Very cold here for this time of year, we went to see son in his play at the theatre tonight and it was only plus 2! Think the scientists are right and we are entering the cold period now due to the sunspot solar minimum thing.

Fingers crossed with the blue badge , these damn forms are alway so complicated.

How nice you get photos and videos every day of the nursery and grandaughter.

Yes the contestants are more useless than every on Apprentice this year. But I do find them amusing at times.

I am going to start taking extra vitamin D now to make up for lack of sunlight to see if it helps keep colds at bay, especially as I have had a cough already. I too decided to have flu jab this year, although I don't normally.

Me and OH treated ourselves to a large bag of Cadbury chocs each, he had mini twirl and I had caramel. Delicous they were whilst we were watching the play. Naughty though as i wouldn't eat that many chocs in one go normally.

Goodnight both xxx

M

Evening Mollie & Baz.

9c today, sunny with a gentle breeze., very pleased, had 3 sausages for brekkie, just had them on a fork with a mild mustard dip.

The gardener came, wow, he doesn't half work hard, he forked all the raised beds, took all the rubbish to the brown wheelie bin, then emptied his volvo estate and loaded all the scrap big 100 & 60/50L tubs, all old hard plastic, also tons of decking offcuts which were about 2ft long, and a load of scrap aluminium as well, he then took it all to the recycle dump some miles away.

For tea i had the left over half of the chili con carne from the other day, just cooked some rice and defrost and reheated the chili, it was very tasty, then had 2 of the scones, got to make more but larger for Monday, but will have to make the soup tomorrow.

Mollie, I don't stand much chance of getting a blue badge, you probably need to prove you can't manage on your own.

Yes, i noticed that the temperature for min/max per day has dropped dramatically to around 0 to 7c most of the time so not good looking ahead.

I just checked on the Vitamin D, you should get checked to see if you are deficient, but this list gives some alternatives, you don't only get it from the sun, see here "Along with supplements, you can get vitamin D from fortified foods, such as milk and orange juice, as well as from eating fish such as salmon, tuna, sardines, and mackerel. Beef, shitake mushrooms, egg yolks, and fortified cereals are also good sources."

I think it is advisable to get the Flu jab, o/h won't have it as she says it makes her bad, some have a reaction, maybe she has an allergy to the egg white, i know she only eats the yolks.

That large bag of chocs sounds good, love chocy.

Baz. Hope all is well with you and your bruises have gone or are going, hope the weather stays ok for you to go into town tomorrow.

Hope you have a good evening and a good weekend, Strictly tomorrow, wonder who will get the judges lashing tomorrow?

Hicky

both

Baz

hope you have had an ok today and have not been affected by any of that heavy rainfall they have had up north. (not sure, are you up north?).

Hicky

your gardener certainly got a lot done in one day!

Good job you have the fine weather to get it done.

thanks for the vit d info. I never realised so many every day foods had vit d in them.

That is interesting your OH gets ill from the injection but if she doesn't eat egg white, it could be an allergy to it. I have heard if we naturally avoid some food types, it could be because we are allergic to them.

Went for a wonder round the auction today, a few interesting things, but will only bid on them if they are a bargain.

Then went to Nandos in Cardiff Bay as son had been on a seminar there. We bought some vouchers for there from costco saving us ÂĢ7 on the actual cost, so cant complain. I have a beanie wrap with chillie jam, halloumi, mash and roast sweet potato. Delicious. The rest of my family have chicken in one form or another.

Enjoyed Gogglebox again tonight, so funny, what characters they are.

Damn cough still clinging on, but on the way out. It mainly bothers me if I go out in the cold.

And it certainly has been very cold today! Going down below freezing tonight, already looks frosty.

Goodnight both xxx

Evening Mollie & Baz.

Thinking of you Emptybox on your Birthday today, miss you.

Pretty cool today at 4c with rain and a moderate breeze, so stayed in, just went to the gazebo for a couple of big onions.

Didn't have brekkie as i was getting veg ready for the soup, had to make a veg stock, as the recipe said, so grated lots of carrots, celery and onion, added some salt and pepper an covered in 1L of boiling water then left to steep.

But then i made the soup frying the chopped up potatoes, and onion then added the veg stock by sieving it, but don't understand the logic in then throwing away the pan of veg that made the stock.

Anyway, soup made, had 2 bowls, then had 2 scones.

Will make more scones in the morning, alsp will be making a lamb shank roast dinner, well i mean a casserole.

Mollie, Can't believe how much work the gardener did, after doing all the raised beds and emptying a lot of tubs that had compost in, into the new top section of one of the raised beds, we were just having our 2nd cup of tea and he mentioned about the the big tubs i wanted to go, he said he could take them to the recycling dump a few miles away so he went to empty his car, he put his lawn mowers etc by the side of the bungalow and started loading about a dozen big tubs, a load of 600 x 600 plastic trays, also loads of wood, say 3 dozen pieces plus another 3 dozen small section, and a load of aluminium sections that came from greenhouse staging i took to bits, i was very grateful for what he did.

My Mother used to suffer after the Flu jab, it certainly isn't the Flu jab so probably is some form of reaction.

The Nurse asked me before the jab was i allergic to eggs.

If i went to auctions i would end up with loads of stuff i don't need as i wouldn't be able to resist them.

I watched gogglebox, or most of it, not bad.

Baz, Sorry to hear you aren't very well, hope it soon passes whatever it is.

Yes, will always miss Emptybox, I think of him so often, it was like losing a member of my Family.

Have a good Evening.

Hicky

Thinking of you on your birthday.

Like Hicky, I too often think of my special forum friend and I miss our daily chats so much.

I still feel so shocked how we lost you back in April, I hope you knew how loved you were by that lovely family of yours whom I met back in May, and how much you meant to Hicky and I.

16 years plus of posting on a daily basis was a huge chunk of our lives.

I will never forget you my special forum buddy. xxx

M

Hi both xxx

Baz

am so sorry you are not feeling well. Did you pick up that cold your daughter had? Hope you feel better soon.

How kind of you to pop in to mention Emptybox despite feeling unwell.

Hicky and I are so lucky to have you around here.

Hicky

I agree with your comments about Emptybox in that it was so painfull for us losing him, it was like a loss of a family member for me too. I reckon us 3 must of been posting together for around 16 years, rarery missing even a day, and that is a long time. I loved the way he used to tease me when I said silly things or got spellings wrong or forgot people's names. He had such a great sense of humour.  I know how you used to enjoy discussing techy stuff with him. He was very clever.

I have texted his brother to tell him how we are thinking of him.

It is indeed the weather to enjoy nice home made soup. And I am sure you enjoyed the scones.

You are lucky to have found such a good gardener, no wonder he is so busy with clients.

Very late posting tonight as I went to see son's musical play, there were 7 of us in all as mum's 2 ex carers came too and we all enjoyed it.

Damn cough kept me awake last night again, had to get up for warm drink in the end, and that was about 1.30am.

Goodnight both xxx

Afternoon Mollie and Hicky Happy Sunday I had a very bad morning emotionally  .....actually ended up calling my daughter (which is something I try hard not to do ).....but dragged myself to my spa hour and feel a bit better for it . On the plus side , physically I feel much better today ...so,it’s not all doom and gloom chez Baz Sammy is fine ....eating and sleeping for England.

Mollie , sorry your cough is being such a pain .....I hope it clears up soon . I can only imagine how much you and Hicky miss Emptybox It’s amazing how close we can get to people we never met ....but like you say , years of speaking to people on the forum means we probably know more about them....and them about us ....than even our RL friends . Anyway , I’m sure his brother really appreciated your text  Hicky , what did you think of strictly last night ? I couldn’t believe they still gave Karim 8s despite the faults

Anyway , Escape to the Chateau tonight , so a nice relaxing hour Have a good evening , whatever you are both doing .

Evening Mollie & Baz.

YesI'l never get over the loss of Emptybox, life is like that

Had a busy day today, weather not too bad really, 7c sunny with barely a wind.

Started off with a video link with Oz for half an hour, fantastic.

Next i made a tray of scones for tomorrow, o/h wanted them bigger, think these are too big, we'll see tomorrow.

Then i got a casserole dish out to cook my 2 lamb shanks using the same recipe i used for the Jacobs Ladder, put the rest of the carrots in it and a left over Leek from the soup, i missed it in the fridge yesterday.

Then i did some work in the garden, still got some jobs to do.

Wow, the Casserole was fantastic, made some potato mast to have with it, got enough caserole for another meal.

Mollie, I'm sure Emptybox's Brother would be pleased to receive your text and knowing we are thinking of him.

Yes the gardener is a gem, he doesn't charge me full price, probably with me mending his equipment and giving him stuff but i always make sure he doesn't work for nothing.

That was nice 7 of you going to see your sons musical play, thats bad news about your cough you can't afford to lose sleep.

Baz, Sorry to hear you had a bad morning, always call your daughter if you are feeling low, you must try to keep her in the loop.

I enjoyed Strictly as usual, the voting will always be controversial to us, as the judges are looking for things we have no idea about, we just see it as a performance, the judges don't, they look for movement on the beat, expression, hands shoulders, feet, spacing, movement and synchronicity.

I usually record the Chateau, love that program.

Have a good evening, another week starts tomorrow, doesn't time fly.

Aaaww sorry to hear you had such a bad morning emotional wise.

Its a good thing you did phone your daughter, even though you prefer not to do that often, I am sure she prefers that you do ring her if you feel the need to. But well done for having the strength to drag yourself to the spa. Glad you feel a bit better physical wise though.

A big thank you to you for popping in to mention Emptybox;s birthday else yesterday, I would of felt real bad if I had not noticed it on the right hand side here. Your timely reminder meant I was on time (but only just) to text his brother last night. I was busy yesterday as we went to see son's play so didn't get home till late.

Glad Sammy is doing so well. She was lucky you chose her.

Hicky

hope you enjoy your scone  (even if they are on the large size). That's good you have enough casserole for 2 meals as it was so delcious.

Its handy you are clever enough to mend the gardner's equipment and great that he does your garden so well.

Yes I think time does fly by quicker the older we get.

Did you both watch the Ant and Dec programme tonight? , it was brilliant, far better than what I expected.

Son told me it took them nearly 2 hours to load the scenery on the lorry after the play last night, then they went for a drink, (he doesn't drink alcohol as he drives, but they like to discuss their plays and have a laugh together after), so he didn't get home till 2.30am.

Watched the Rememberance this morning, thank goodness the weather was nice and dry today for them.

Went for tea at the the BOGOF tonight. One son has just gone down with a cold, so coudln't come. Damn nusiance these colds are this time of year.

Not a bad day here weather wise, quite cold, but dry at least.Washing nearly dried on line anyway.

Emptybox's brother texted me back, told me Emptybox's nephew was 21 today and that he too thought of Emptybox all the time. He would of been 60 yesterday and his brother said it was tragic what happened but he has stopped trying to work out why he did it, because it was impossible to find the answer. He is right to do this, I know we kept asking ourselves the same question HIcky.

Evening Mollie & Baz.

9c today with gales and light rain most of the time.

Stayed in except for a walk around the garden with SIL. she brought MIL for a chat and some food, i didn't have brekkie so i tucked into sandwiches, strawberry tart and cake.

Had one email from HMRC Saturday posted on the 29th Oct, had another today posted on the 31st, the 1st one said i owed an amount roughly the same as i had worked out but didn't say how or when to pay, i was going to go online to my tax account to pay, anyway the 2nd email says i owe less than half of what the other email said, it says i have paid a lot of it and has been collected, wow, it hasn't really though, so i went to my tax account, it said the same as the 2nd email, then it had a link to pay, i went to the link and it said i can't pay what i owe online and i could ring them, well i paid online last year, it was a bit of a problem as they couldn't find the money, not sure what is going on, and before i could get onto my tax account i had to verify my email address and mobile number, it was all fine last year, what a system they have, crazy.

Mollie, I didn't watch the ant/dec thing as couldn't see why i would be interested.

Thats a lot of scenery to load, wow 2 hours work, nie for him to go with them later for a chat, even if he couldn't drink, better off not anyway.

Yes, colds everywhere now i suppose, such awful damp weather.

Nice getting a message back from Emptybox's brother, the only reason i can come up with for his actions are his health, he knew he couldn't go on, he was worried about going in hospital for an op and where would that leave him, they couldn't send him home without help, he had stairs so that would be worse, he would need home help etc, thats the only thing i could think of.

Baz. Hope all is well with you and Sammy is being good. hope you are feeling well and sleeping ok, you could do with that spa every day.

Have a good evening.

Hicky

both

Baz

hope you are feeling well today and relaxing with Sammy.

Hicky

that's nice you had visitors today and the weather was ok to walk SIL round the garden.

HMRC are a damn joke ,sorry you had had problems with them again.  I too have had endless problems. Yes awful online system, you make an account with the usual type of user name , PW etc, then if you go to re-use it, it doesn't work. So I too had to mess around for ages setting up a new account, and wait for texts from them before I could get onto it. Then it was all wrong regarding my past employment.  So I gave up for now. (this was last week).

I didn't think Ant/Dec would be interesting as I don't usually like these type of "find your past"  shows, but this one was, especially when they went to Ireland. They are off to New York tonight.

Yes I think you are right about Emptybox's reasons, his health was a real worry for him and with living alone, such a big worry for him. So sad though as after meeting them i know that if he would of asked, not only his brother but several other members of his family would happily of looked after him if he needed a hospital visit, anything rather than what did happen.

A very cold wind here today, but at least it was dry, ,so I got the washing dried.

Have a good evening both xxx

M

Afternoon Mollie  Cold and wet here, so I've stayed  in , changed the bed and done two loads of washing and ironing...oh joy  Looks like Wednesday  is going to be dry though , before the rain returns again , so I think I’ll dash into town tomorrow and get any chores done  . Hope you’ve both  had a good day though.

Sounds like you’ve both had HMRC nightmares Hope things get sorted out Such a shame about Emptybox ....but I can sort of understand it Getting old sucks ...especially if you value your independence .

Are you looking forward to I’m a Celeb starting next week ? I am , although looking at the line up I know none of them Still , it’s something easy to watch every night . Masterchef tonight ...so a new bunch of numpties to watch  Have a good evening both . Take care

Baz

Evening Mollie & Baz.

9c today with light rain and a fresh breeze, had a lot of rain last night.

Didn't go out, decided to ring HMRC as before 10am is the best time, it seems that i have to send them a cheque, it looks like after they send me a letter stating what i owed a computer formulated letter was produced by computer and sent to me 2 days later, they take 11 days to arrive, not sure why, she said i can't pay what i owe online or any way direct and have to send the payment to them as a chewue, postal order or a bankers draft, it is because they can't take the money from my income, i have a feeling they don't have the staff to trace any money that is sent to their bank so it needs to go to some people that can sort the paper money when it suits them, she was going to send me a new letter so i could pay the full amount, but before we had finished talking the phone cut out as it lost connection to the base unit for some reason, i have ordered a checque book online from the bank, i said to the girl, it's like living in a third world country. i said you didn't send me an envelope to send back, she said they don't.

For brekkie i had a bacon on toast, for tea had a portion of the Lamb Shank meal i made Sunday, had it with some mash, wow, so good, just had a banana and a pear as well.

Had an email from MIL, she enjoyed the scone she took home, mind you she had 3 goes at it, she also took some clotted cream and strawberry jam to go with it.

Mollie, Of course we don't know if Emptybox had any financial worries, and if he had to go in hospital or he was laid up at home he wouldn't be able to work, he couldn't get to his customers, all these issues could have become a mountain to climb and he obviously didn't feel he could share his worries.

I don't wonder you have had problems with HMRC as well, they are a nightmare, all i got was oppologies but nothing changed and she couldn't do anything, it seemed to me that automation had taken over and the payment will be read by an automated system, the original form was a p800, the payment document is a p254 and because the payment slip is composed of masses of square boxes it is obvious it isn't designed for humans to handle.

Baz, Hope you are feeling better and the weather lets you get into town tomorrow.

Yes, IAC starts Sunday night i think, love watching it, at least it will pass some time away at night, love it.

Watching Unwrapped, love to know what happens in the factories.

Have a good night

Hicky

both

Baz

you always sound busy even on the days you stay home. But at least now the washing/ironing is out of the way, you can hopefully enjoy a trip out to town tomorrow. If it is as cold there as here, you will need to wrap up warm though.

Yes can't wait for IAC, so nice to have something easy and entertaining to watch each night.

Hicky

your scones must of been real big ones if it took MIL 3 goes to eat it all.

HMRC want a cheque! Oh my goodness talk about behind the times, they are just unbelievable. Last month the accountant told me they said OH owed them ÂĢ13 so I paid it directly into their account and this month she wrote to me saying they have credited it back again!

Yes poor Emptybox must of been so worried about how his health would affect him. I don't think he had money worries, as remember how he used to talk about his investments? Plus his brother mentioned to me that Emptybox had left in his  final note for his brother, instructions about how to cash them in. His end was all so planned.

Very cold here for this time of year but at least it was dry.

I just spoke to my dad's sister and my cousin who lives in Sydney suberbs is 45kms from the fires but has to wet the top of her roof twice a day, and says you have to cover your mouth when you go out because of the choking smoke. She said the fires were in Melbourne, but then it started snowing there , so that stopped it and it has now spread towards Sydney. Snow in Melbourne as they go into summer is unbelievable.
Has your son spoke of the fires HIcky? Hope they are a long way away from them.

Going to watch the new drama on bbc1 now to see if it is anygood, as there is not much else on tv.

Goodnight both

Evening Mollie & Baz.

Only 8c today, rain early on then sunny intervals with a gentle breeze.

Didn't have brekkie, we went to the Farm Shop for a few bits, got some more salami, sausages, a steak and gravy pie, some peppered chicken wings.

When i got back from the farm i had 2 sausages, some toast and a cold steak pie.

They have authorized my Blue Badge, yippeeeeeeeeeeee, they will post it to me with the clock and a instruction pack.

Managed to do a bit of work in the garden, while in the manshed i put the fan heater on, it is always set to a temperature about freezing as i don't want everything in the shed to get too cold.

For tea i cooked half the tray of peppered wings, as there was 12 inn the pack i froze half.

The Apprentice tonight, can't wait for IAC to start Sunday.

Mollie, I might have to get a set of cake / biscuit cutters, i used to have a set but threw them out when we moved.

I have ordered a cheque book, think i mentioned it, it will be the easiest way as i don't know what is happening in HMRC anymore, it's as if the staff have lost control, the poor girl kept apologizing constantly.

It seems a bit like they can't handle people paying into the account as it is too difficult to work out who it is from, they had great problems last year after i paid by card, they didn't know i had paid but of course i had all the deatils needed to find the money, maybe the idea is that they will allocate the money to the right person at the time it is deposited into their coffers.

Money in investments isn't cash in hand, i don't think he wanted to bother his brother etc and he knew he wouldn't ne able to manage either in hospital or if he wqs laid up in bed, he wouldn't even go and find out what the problem was, he couldn't face finding out, maybe he thought it was far worse than it really was, otherwise it doesn't make sense.

My Lad in Oz hasn't mentioned the fires etc, there's nothing to burn where he is, not sure about the air quality, his o/h was working in Belbourne 2 weeks ago but she doesn't have to go back there till next year.

Baz, Hope you are well and have had a good Wednesday, did you manage to get into town, just take it easy, there is no race and no prize.

You really should have a hobby or something to keep you occupied, having all this free time should be put to good use for your own pleasure.

Have a good evening.

Baz

hope you are feeling ok today. did you manage to get to town?

Hicky

so pleased to hear you are getting the blue badge, that will make life so much easier for you and enable you to get out and about easier without the worry of having  long walk from the car parks. It was worth taking the effort to fill in such a complicated form. You have certainly heard back quickly. Hope it arrives soon.

Glad you are well stocked up from your visit to the farm shop and got a bit done in the garden.

Yes I agree Emptybox was so worried about his illness, so much so, he didn't get it checked out and it might not of been as bad as he thought it was. I remember you suggested he did get it checked several times.Poor thing.

That's good the fires aren't affecting your son and also that his OH doesn't have to go to Melbourne for awhile now.

Cold here again, didn't do much or go out, just a bit of tidying and washing.

Enjoying the Apprentice tonight. What an awful ad campaign for Finland. We certainly didn't see much of its beauty at all!

Yes Hicky it will be great to see IAC back on Sunday.

Goodnight both xxx

Afternoon Mollie and Hicky  Brrrrrrr it’s very chilly ...and wet here I have had quite a busy day ....went out to lunch with my friend , the hairdresser came and cut my hair ....Sammy was not impressedApart from that I’ve done a load of washing and that’s my lot  Hope you are all having a good day ...and staying warm and dry !

Glad to hear your family aren’t in the fire zone......and that you got the blue badge Hicky . Mr B had one because of spinal problems and it certainly made life easier . I didn’t make it to town yesterday cos I had notification that a parcel I was expecting today was coming early But I will go tomorrow instead . Mollie, the Apprentice was hilarious .........but not sure the right one went ...I’d have preferred it to be Ryan Mark ....he makes my slapping hand itch Hope all is well in your world

Anyway , Masterchef again tonight ....and role in I’m a Celeb Have a good evening

Baz

Evening Mollie & Baz. :

Cool today at 8c max, rain cloud and sun with a moderate breeze.

Had bacon eggs, hash browns, tinned toms, sausage and toast for brekkie.

O/H was complaing about the cupboard doors in the kitchen, i looked online and found what each of the 5 screws do on the soft close hinges, i made out a left and right hand drawing using TinyCad drawing program so i could draw the hinge and show in detail the adjustments, we have the up/down screw also the sided to side and the in/out, the other 2 scews are the fixings, the fixings have to be slackened a bit to use the up/down adjustment, anyway, they worked and the doors are a lot better fit.

I did more work in the garden on the outside vine, put in position the new growth to replace and extend some older growth, have more netting to put around yet, it was a bit chilly but could put the heater on in the manshed.

For tea decided on some new cheese biscuits with added alami and cheese for a change.

My Blue Badge started today, mind you i haven't got it yet.

Mollie, The Blue Badge would have been very handy when we went to suffolk to stay with our relation, when we went out for the day we had to walk quite some distance but i wasn't able to walk back so he had to go back and fetch the car, the badge would havve made life so much easier as we most probably could have got nearer to where we were going.

I think Emptybox knew that he needed to see the doctor to get his problem investigated, i do think whatever the outcome was that he was going to need an operation, at the best i think he might have had the same problem as i developed, at worse, well best not go there but i don't think medication wouldn't have helped, the symptoms were worsening so was becoming more scary.

Watched the apprentice, they really are stupid, i find it hard to believe there is 1 in the group that could become a partner, they have no idea how to plan or anything else, i would get rid of them all.

Baz, You have had a good day really, out to lunch, hair cut and washing done, you deserve to rest after that.

Yes, very pleased to be awarded the Blue Badge, it certainly will help.

I agree the wrong one was sent home, but they are all dreadful.

Have a good evening.

Hicky

both xxx

Baz

glad to hear you got out to lunch with your friend. What did you have to eat?

at Sammie not being impressed with the hair dressing. Did she not like the noise of the drier or not like the hairdresser?

Hope you make it into town tomorrow. Sounds like it should be getting drier now weather wise at least.

Yes Apprentice was so funny. I know what you mean about Ryan. Although he is annoying, but he is very annoyingly funny too.

Hicky

well done fixing the kitchen doors.

Its handy you have that heater in your manshed so you can still get in the garden when it is cold.

I love cheese and biccies, but what is alami?

Pity they have started your blue badge today, but haven't even sent it ,so you can't use it!  My friend who has to use 2 crutches finds it so much easier to go out now she has that blue badge, so I am sure you will too. Remember it is restricted to 3 hours in most places though, as she forgot and got a parking ticket in sainsburys car park!

Yes I agree, I think Emptybox knew he needed to go for hospital tests for his problem, but was scared to find out the result and future implications. I do remember you had the same tyep of problem, so the treatent he needed could of been a similiar.

Real cold here again today , the valleys not far from here had a lot of overnight snow, and winter has not even arrived yet! We are already feeling the result of those absent sun spots.

Am watching Lose a Stone by Christmas. (which is what I could do with doing!).

Goodnight both xxx
