glad you feel a bit better today. Hope you feel fully recovered soon. It certainly wasn't a wasted day with what you did do.

Do you watch the show just before Repair Shop? Its called The Customer knows Best? I like that too, they have members of the public testing new inventions.

Hicky

wow that is a big bunch of bananas, no wonder you had to turn the offer down, you would of needed a horse and cart to transport it.

I know the cashews you mean. They were giving samples out last time we were there. When we finish our big bag of KP nuts we got from Costco, we are going to buy some of those delicious cashews. We find their own Kirkland brand of stuff really good. All imported from the States I guess as it is an American company.

I got that voice thing on my tv once too and son realised I had accidently pressed a button I shouldn't of, so got rid of it. So its easily done.

That should be an ok train journey for you then, if you have your seats booked and you don't have to change trains and platforms. Let's hope the weather is ok.

They kept giving us weather warnings for today round here, but it wasn't bad at all, still around 23c, with the odd shower and that was it.

We went to see the auction, (not houses this time, but usually house items like furntitre and electricals). They had a lot of stuff, apparently they had a huge delivery from Germany, so lots of stuff was in German. I couldn't believe it as amongst some of the ordinary every day items such as juicers and potato peelers was some naughty stuff.   Me and 2 other women were creasing ourselves laughing everytime we found something, as we'd all picked up things thinking it was something ordinary like a torch , and realised some items were not what we thought.

You are clever working out how to fix your Duelit toaster.

Going to watch the celebs going barging soon. I enjoy that.

Have a good evening both xxx

Evening Mollie.

Didn't see your post, just updated my last one to say the Darts is on from brisbane today tomorrow and Sunday from 7pm till 11.45, love it, on ITV4.

Yes, the cashews but with alll the salt scares i eat non salted.

I think i read about the AD button when i got the box but didn't realise what it was, i do now.

This is the cookie cutter/stamp with 6 animals.

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Tesco..._rd_m=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE

Same here weather warning that disintegrated somehow.

Maybe that was why the German stuff was sent over here to auction, we are pretty broard minded in the uk, yes i know what you mean, but similar to torches in that most need batteries to work properly, they give more pleasure than light.

I am recording celebs go dating as Lady C is in it and him from Blue, and the lad from the last Love Island that won, he split up from his GF, and another girl from LI, Megam, lovely girl, it's been on all week.

This is the replacement timer i ordered for the toaster, cheaper than a new toaster, the timer and elements can be bought as spares.

Evening Everyone Mollie & Baz.

Quite a change today, but 20c showers but no thunder with 40 to 42 mph winds, didn't notice them though.

Because of the strong wind forecast i fastened the patio heater to the garden swing and to the fence concrete posts, in case.

Stayed in as it was miserable out.

Had fried eggs on toast for brekkie, 3 off, and for tea made 2 salmon salad sandwiches.

My big tub of cashew nuts i ordereed yesterday came this morning, chuffed.

The dusk to dawn lights in the house have been on most of the day with the lighting level outside being low because of the heavy cloud, they did go off a bit when some clouds passed but not for long.

Will be watching the darts now from Brisbane, will record anything else worth watching.

Have a good night and a good day tomorrow.

Hicky

Baz and HIcky

Baz

hope you are fully recovered today and had a good day. Did you go out?

Hicky

hope you enjoy your darts. Wonder if your son in Oz is watching it?

Good idea to secure your garden with the windy weather.

It was windy here too, rain this morning, but gone in the afternoon.

Stayed windy though.

Your cookie cutter is lovely, I will show daughter and I bet she will get one.

Very handy how you can get spare parts with a Duelit.

Still windy here now, but at least its dry.

Daughter and I looked after neighbours dog whilst they went out and just popped to Lidl for a bit of shopping.

Not much to watch on tv tonight, roll on X factor or Britains got Talent for a Saturday night viewing again.

Have a good evening both xxx

Evening Mollie & Baz.

Cool today at 17c, light rain with a fresh breeze.

Had an unusual brekkie, this: Preparation, slice bacon into 2cm pieces, slice mushrooms, slice Chorizo, open beans and put in small pan on hob, turn oven to 200c fan.
Put some oil into large frying pan on medium heat add Chorizo, after a few minutes add mushrooms, put rolls in oven on baking tray for 8 minutes, stir beans in pan, when mushrooms and Chorizo ready add to pan with beans and put bacon into frying pan, when ready add to pan with beans etc, take rolls from oven and slice in half, butter the rolls, empty pan of beans etc onto a plate and add brown sauce to taste of thats your thing, take plate of food and plate of rolls to dining are, enjoy, mine was very nice.

Wind didn't do any damage, just found 1 apple on the floor.

Have more pests in the garden, now eating my strawberries, picked a tub full and lots have been eaten into, o/h saw a couple of wood lice in with them, when i checked each one a lot had been attacked, another disaster.

For tea decided on a Laksa soup with additions then a dish of chicken wings, couldn't decide as i have so many options in the food line.

Tomorrow morning i am going to make the next trial of shrtbread, this time i am going to use the 3, 2, 1 recipe to see which is best, but it could be too sweet for o/h.

See the Doc tomorrow about my Elbo etc, see what he thinks.

Mollie, The darts was fab, an Australian won, my Lad doesn't see it as he doesn't know what station it would be on.

It's on again next Fri / Sat from another Oz City.

Yes, not a lot to watch on tv now, just watching Celebs go dating.

Baz, Hope you feel a bit better each day, that was a lovely surprize from your daughter, a cuddle cushion so thoughtful using that shirt.

A lovely M&S voucher from your son, you can treat yourself to something lovely.

Hope you sleep ok tonight, you need it.

Hicky

Baz

so pleased to hear you are feeling better today than you were.

Aaaww what a special and clever idea is that special cuddle cushion from your daughter. And I am sure you will enjoy choosing something with your M and S voucher.

Hicky

that was a nice unusal brekkie you made there.

Glad to hear all was intact in your garden after those strong winds.

How annoying the pests are nicking your garden produce. It seems the insects are doing well in our current weather! The wasps are still driving me mad!

Hope the doc visit goes ok tomorrow.

Let me know how your shortbread recipe comes out,

A shame your lad can't watch darts even though it is coming from Oz.

We had some heavy showers today, but it was still warm and in the 20's.

We went to costco for a bit of food shopping, enjoyed the free food samples and my usual ÂĢ1.50 jacket potato.

Watched Anitques Roadshow and now Ramesh travels to Bosnia, he is quite amusing.

Goodnight both xxx

Baz

wishing you a very

I hope you are having a nice day and have been enjoying your comfy chair and special birthday cushion.

Hicky

hope the weather has been ok for you to get in your garden.

It has been a nice day here weather wise, not so hot as it has been, a bit cloudy but sun as well and no rain.

Went to local garden centre this morning and had breakfast there.

And bought a new kitchen table in the auction for ÂĢ15, as ours is so old. We are not sure if the extend bit works, but it might and if not OH will try and fix it, and it might have a few scratches, but looked fine for us as OH will patch up the scratches. They were ÂĢ700 new, so this one might of been ex display. We bought the dining room chairs at auction about 6 months ago, real nice they have been, and we have been waiting for a table to come up at auction. We hope OH can fit it in his car now.

He also bought a costco shed for half price, so I just hope all the bits are in the box, if not, he'll have to patch that up too.

Just watched Customer knows best, and The Repair Shop. Not sure what to watch later.

Have a good evening both.

Evening Mollie & Happy Birthday Baz.

17c again today, sunny intervals and a moderate breeze, but not bad considering.

Had 3 fried eggs on toast for brekkie.

Made 20 Shortbread Biscuits using the 3,2,1 method and the new animal stamp and cutter, rolling and flattening the dough is very hard to do so i think the other recipe of 180/125/55 is probably better as it has slightly more butter and less sugar, some recipies say if the dough is a bit dry add a little melted butter, also i should have taken the butter out of the fridge 2 hours early weighed it and left it to soften before adding the sugar, when a cream add the flour.

Also put finished biscuits on tray with baking paper into fridge for 20 minutes before baking, but another way make dough into a sausage the diameter you want the biscuit rolling the dough in baking paper then cover in clicngfilm and put in fridge for 2 hours then slice into biscuits and put onto baking paper.

One recipe had icing sugar instead of caster, but think that was the African recipe.

They are so moreish really pleased, can't see them lasting long though.

Went to Doctor, he is very pleased with my Elbow, he said i can keep putting cream on but only once a day and leave uncovered and try to buy some desk support cushion pads so my Elbows arent on the wood, will look into that.

I mentioned to him about my repeat meds being out of step by 2 weeks so he made out new prescriptions with an extra 2 weeks for the new tablets, and he put the Elbow cream on repeat.

For tea i made a stirfry with a mushroom stirfry pack and a half bag of raw king prawns and some left over bean sprouts and a couple of small rice packs i kept in the freezer as sometimes i make too much, but i have made enough for a couple of meals so will probably have to freeze the rest.

The problem with strawberries on the ground is, the weight of the fruit keeps it on the ground but never knew wood lice ate strawberries.

Thats so handy for you getting some shopping and a nice meal as well at Costco.

I watch Antiques Road trip, sometimes watch the roadshow, just so many programs to watch, mind you i record so many.

Hope Baz had a great Birthday.

Hicky

Hi Mollie.

Just seen your post, i was typing when you posted so missed it.

ÂĢ15 is a good price for a kitchen table, should be able to fix if it has some problem.

If you buy a shed you usually have to buy new roofing felt as it usually tears getting it off when taking it down.

I saw the repair shop and the customer knows best, can't believe so many people don't read the instructions, but it could be planned because they know the program they are on.

Watching Sewermen now, so good.

Hicky

Evening Mollie and Hicky Aww thank you ....I’ve been very, very  spoilt ....the house looks like a Florist’s  I hope you’ve both had a good day too . I love Antiques Road Trip ....and Bargain Hunt Glad your elbow is improving Hicky . Wow , you got a good deal on the table Mollie ...well done I watched Repar Shop tonight ...loved the kaleidoscope Anyway , I hope you both have a good evening ....night night

Baz

Hi HIcky

as you say, great minds think alike and we posted together.

Glad to see your doc was pleased with your elbow. That is interesting you have been advised to use pads for your elbows, sounds like doc thinks leaning them on the wood might aggravate it. In that case, when you get the cushion. it might be best to choose a natural material like cotton, rather than something synthetic like polyester. Good job he has put the cream on repeat as you seem to be doing so well on it.

I can understand why your biccies would not last long, they sound delicious.

I too would not of imagined wood lice eating strawberries! Thought they ate wood!

OH just told me the thing I thought was a shed isn't quite a shed, it is just like a plastic storage unit, so he doesn't need to worry about felt. This is it here.....

https://www.costco.co.uk/Garde...torage-Shed/p/475826

We are just hoping all of it is in the box now when we get it home as it is no returns at an auction.

Yes it is funny on "Customer Knows Best" how they don't read the instructions, seems a bit unfair to judge the product without not even putting it to its proper use.

Watching a C4 show now about the Train Robbery, intesting so far how they work out how to stop trains.

Goodnight Hicky , enjoy your tv. xxx

so pleased to hear you have been spoilt. You deserve it on your special day.

I agree that kaleidescope was just lovely.

Evening Mollie & Baz.

17c today, sunny intervals and a moderate breeze.

Had 4 sausages and eggs on toast for brekkie and for tea had 2 bowls of seafood soup, then a salad sandwich, then some shortbread.

I swapped my desk around today, the desk is the same as the one the doctor had yesterday with the straight area then a curved deeper section, i used to have my keyboard for the computer just past the curve which meant i needed to rest my elbows on the desk, now the computer is on the straight section so my elbows don't go on the desk, the computer case is in the middle and i had to remove the 24" monitor and the 32" LG TV. i have 3 more TV's but 2 big ones are far too big for me to have on my desk as i couldn't lift them, i have a 24" in the kitchen, it was the only size that would fit under the cupboards.

It took a couple of hours to change around as i had to remove  a lot of stuff from the desk and unravel a lot of cables.

Got the Podiatry appointment in the morning for my toe nails as i am unable to attend to them myself.

Mollie I can get a wide wrist/elbow rest that fits in front of the keyboard, i have seen a few will check which will be best.

I am trying to be very good with the biscuits to make them last a bit, so easy to make though.

That wheelie bin store looks good, i have a wooden on that holds 2 bins, we have another single one that we had a spin drier in, it now is used as a garden chair store.

I don't think customers know best is worth watching as thery treat the items as a joke, pretty pointless tbh.

Still enjoying Celebs Go Dating, quite funny really.

Baz, Yes love Antiques road trip, but it is hard to make money from an auction, don't understand why they buy stuff they like instead of stuff that will be salable, and on Bargain Hunt why do they pay stupid prices for some of the items, if you wouldn't pay that price yourself to buy it why pay that to go to auction, crazy.

Glad you got spoilt, all those flowers will brighten the house up.

Have a good night both, hope you sleep all right tonight.

Hicky

both

Hicky

what a good idea to move your desk round to solve the elbow on the desk problem. Let's hope that helps your elbow problem .

And yet again on Customer Knows best, they did not read the instructions properly!

The storage unit in the photo shows wheelie bins in it, but we don't have wheelie bins here, so OH is going to use it to store garden stuff. We only have black bags.

Hope the podiatry appointment goes ok tomorrow, have you got a lift or do you need a taxi?

OH going to collect our table tomorrow and garden storage thing. He will need a couple of journeys to pack it in. Just hope they haven't got too much wrong with them.

Nice day so got lots of washing dry, also went swimming and had walk down seafront, with a vanilla cone, with strawberry stripe through it.

Baz

hope you are well today, I am sure you are enjoying looking at all those pretty flowers you had for your birthday.

Going to watch the bbc1 drama, enjoy seeing all the local scenery round here on it, and it is a good story too. Will record A and E, and watch that after.

Have a good evening.

Afternoon Mollie and Hicky It’s rained all day here ...and has been so chilly that my heating kicked in a couple of times Consequently, I’ve not done much ....well that’s my excuse , and I’m sticking to it Hope you are both having a good day , in spite of the weather .

Mollie , I had a lovely day out with my friend yesterday...some retail therapy at the garden centre , lunch and loads and loads of talking  I was so worn out that I slept well , for once last night. I also recorded A&E , but haven’t watched it yet. ...GPS behind closed doors tonight too   I believe Masterchef and Bake Off start week after next as well .

Hicky , hope the podiatry goes well and that you can get something to make your elbow a bit more comfortable . I had even more flowers delivered yesterday ....they smell lovely

Anyway , I feel a cuppa and some toast calling ...so I hope you both have a good evening . Take care

Baz

Evening Both.

19c light rain and a moderate breeze, pretty miserable day tbh.

Went to Podiartry, all done, she did advise i use cream on my legs and feet as i have dry skin, told her it's been dry since 1862 when i left Singapore, have some big tubs of the cream anyway.

O/H took me and could wait till 10.30 as she had a hair appointment, i was in the medical center for 9.30 and out by 9.50 so i got a lift home, after her hair we went to the Farm shop, got 1kg bacon, 1 kg steak mince, 4 big tubs of curry sauce, 2 Jalfrezi and 2 Bhuna, got a piece of beef for my Sunday Roast

My new timer switch for the toaster arrived, can probably fit that tomorrow, the gardener came and took the spindrier to the recycle center for me and i was showing him the new area we want to fake turf, gave him the drawing with all the materials on etc so he can work out a price.

Can see the screen better now as it's not so far away, also wondered why nthe screen wasn't too bright, then after trying to sort it in Windows 10 i realised the setting is on the monitor, not the Windows setting, also i had a night setting in Windows, not sure how.

For brekkie i had beans on toast as i had run out of bacon and had eggs yesterday.

for tea had some sliced stuffed pork on a brown fresh baguette.

Mollie, Have ordered the arm rests now shouldn't take too long to arrive,

Yes, that Customer Knows Best is a joke, won't be watching that again.

The storage unit is made for the wheelie bins but obviously you can use for waht you want, we saw them in Costco long ago but they were too dear at the time to put bins in, good for garden stuff.

Swimming and a walk down to seaside and a vanilla ice cream, life is good.

Baz, I had to put my cardy on or i would start sneezing, the damp air makes it feel cooler, i hate getting wet, if i do i get a cold straight away, no idea why but always have.

Podiatry went well, i am so ticklish though so find it hard for them to touch my feet, so funny.

Yes, the rest for my elbows ordered, that should help at least.

Have a good night, sleep tight, no substitute for sleep, and 1 hour before midnight is worth 2 after.

Hicky

both

Baz

glad to hear you had such a nice day out yesterday, and that helped you sleep well. Lucky you, getting more flowers. So nice for you to look at them when home. Gosh it must of been cold there if your heating kicked in.

I too am watching GP show and the lovely Doc Amir. the star of the show.

Yes looks like Bake Off won't be long coming back, as the ad is being shown.

Don't blame you not doing much today after your busy couple of days.

Hicky

how funny you go all ticklish at the podiatrist. But glad it went ok and you were able to get a lift.

Hope the timer sorts your toaster out ok.

That's lucky you sorted out the screen ok so you could see it better.

As you get colds when it gets damper and cooler, I wonder if a good dose of VitD would help you as autumn approaches? I am going to start taking it when September arrives, as they reckon we don't get enough of it in this country, outside of summer. I heard that the suggested dose to prevent colds/flu is a lot higher than was previously thought. So I am buying a high stregth one. (see link)

https://www.vitamindcouncil.or...onditions/influenza/

Re our auction stuff....well the table is great, and despite a couple of scratches OH can disguise, it extends problem free and gives plenty of space for the 5 of us to eat round it.

However the garden storage....OH got it out of the box and the doors were missing.Oh dear..... He reckons he can replace it,and still save money though, as all the other parts were there.

Mixture of heavy rain, short showers and cloud here today.

Have a goodevening both

Goodnight xxx

M

Evening Mollie.

Sorted the toaster out, fitted the new timer, pity they don't leave an extra couple of inches on the cables to make it easier to swap the wires from the old to the new, i usually do 1 at a time so i can't got wrong.

Had 2 eggs on half of a rather large wholemeal Baguette, tasty, for tea i was going to have Spag Bol but o/h offered me some of her sausage meat stuffed baby chicken wrapped in smoked bacon so i changed meals and had it in a whole wholemeal Baguette with sald and salad cream with tomato sauce, yummy, will have the Spag Bol tomorrow.

My arm rest came today, it is very nice, 200 (8") by 800 (32") its rather nice, anti-slip and has memory foam inside.

Picked a load of peas, wow, when i had shelled them they weighed 550g so divided into 3 freezer bags and froze, need a bag for Sunday as i'm making a Beef roast dinner.

Will have to make my shopping list tonight but only need salad stuff and fruit as i got stuff from the farm the other day.

will have to get a taxi to and from the hospital Tuesday for the monthly eye test, although it has been 2 months this time, o/h is meeting up with a college who has retired from the supermarket.

Yes, Vit D comes from the sun i think, will look into it, not the sun.

So it's good news about your new table but not so good about the storage unit wonder where the doors are?

Have a good Evening.

Hope Baz had a good day.

Hicky

Baz

hope you are well and had a good day.

Hicky

well done managing to sort the toaster out.

That's handy you enjoyed a shared meal with your OH, me and OH usually have different meals, in fact in our family, there can be 4 different meals on the go.

Glad you are pleased with your arm rest, hopefully, along with the cream,  that should help keep your elbow  healthy.

Gosh you have done well with your pea crop.

Pity you have to get a taxi on Tuesday. But it will be nice for your OH to meet up with her colleague.

Yes some you win, some you lose at auction, always a risk, but overall with the amount of stuff we have had from the auction, we have done well with a bit of fix and mend.

I think I am going to order the Vit D drops this time as they are easier to take than tablets.

It was a lovely day today, so I got lots of washing dried, especially as the forecast for tomorrow is awful!

Went to local little local cafe for lunch with son after he had been to the gym (I was too tired and ankle too painful today to go swimming) and we had wraps. Delcious , he has Mexican chicken and I had halloumi and salad. A bargain for just over ÂĢ3 each as he gets a student discount.

Going to watch Fake or Fortune now.

Evening Mollie and Hicky Just popped in to say a quick hi . I made it to my spa day , but then my daughter needed me to pop into town to do something for her ....so got a bit behind Hicky , glad the podiatry and elbow is sorted Mollie , yes I watched Dr Amir too Both Bake Off and Masterchef start at the end of the month I think

Anyway , just a flying visit cos I’m volunteering again tomorrow ....so night night , sleep well and see you tomorrow

Baz

Afternoon Mollie and Hicky  It’s rained all day here ....so I caved in and got a taxi to and from my volunteering....which went well ....but leaves me feeling shattered . Apart from that I’ve only done a load of washing , so tomorrow will have to be bed changing and housework day ....although if the weather is better I might pop into town , just to break the weekend up .

Hope you are both enjoying your day , in spite of the rain !  Its Gardeners World and 5 Go Barging for me tonight ....if I can stay awake I like Fake or Fortune too ...although I’ve not managed to catch up with any this series .

Anyway , I hope you both have a good evening .

Baz

Evening Mollie & Baz. :

Not nice weather here for a Friday, 19c with rain all day and a fresh breeze, no rain tomorrow, great, have some of the big onions fallen over so must need pulling up and drying.

Stayed in today apart from getting my shopping from the car when o/h arrived.

Then i had bacon black pud eggs and beans with toast on the side, yummy.

For tea i had the Spaghetti Bol, love that Dolmio sauce, instead of Spaghetti i had Tagliatelle.

Have just remembered, have ordered a Crocodile Belt as the one i use is more or less finished, i meant to buy one when in a shop selling so many of them somewhere in Oz but didn't get one as i couldn't decide which to buy.

Mollie, We don't have many meals shared, not a lover of chicken but when it is either in curry or has some nice stuff with it i am ok with it.

I didn't really want to pick so many peas but they go awful if left on the plant, it was quite a job taking the peas from the pods, it took ages, but had to be done.

That item you bought without doors seems as though it was shipped with the doors separate and they haven't been put together, you wouldn't sell a unit like that without doors, not even logic, i would ask the place, where are the doors.

It would be better for you to get tested to see if you need Vit. D as taking them when you don't need them is a waste of money, also could be harmful.

Also, Web Advice:

Taking too many vitamin D supplements over a long period of time can cause too much calcium to build up in the body (hypercalcaemia). This can weaken the bones and damage the kidneys and the heart. If you choose to take vitamin D supplements, 10 micrograms a day will be enough for most people.

Yes, if your Ankle is sore best not aggravate it, rest it as much as you can.

That was good getting 2 meals for that price with a student discount, good job they didn't ask what course you were taking.

Baz, Glad you made it to your Spa day,

It was a long way to go to get my toe nails cut but so hard to get appointments by me, there is a medical center a short walk but so busy, i have loads of places i could go to but they only let me phone for an appointment every 6 weeks then see who will be free in a few weeks.

Glad your volunteering day went well,

I've just noticed the World series of darts is on tonight and tomorrow from Melbourne Australia, love it.

Have a good night both.

you have had a couple of busy days. Bit it must be so good and relaxing for you to get to your spa day. Pity the weather was so bad on your volunteer day today, so you had to get taxi.  You are bound to feel tired as it is so new to you. But it is great you are managing to go and do this.

I too am watching the 5 Barging tonight. I haven't got round to watching Fake or Fortune yet.

Hicky

Good job you have remembered you need a new belt, wouldn't be a good look in winter to lose your trousers!

I can imagine it was hard work picking all the peas, but as you say, better than leaving them.

Oh gosh, this Vit D thing is confusing. I was just going to take it to help keep the colds away. Not sure how much to take now. Don't  think I am short of it over the summer as I do get out in the sun, and I had a blood test last year, doc checked it last time as I have this osteoporosis, and he said it was ok, he specifically checked the calcium level as I have to be careful I have enough of that, as well as Vit D.

Looks like you are going to enjoy your darts now.

Unfortunately auction people won't do anything about missing doors. This is what is says on their site...

Lots originate from many sources including customer/retail returns, salvage, bankrupty, ex-display & repossessions; Via clients from high street retailers to Insolvency Practitioners & Receivers - NOTE: No lots at our public auctions are sold as being new, working, complete or fit for any purposeAll lots are strictly Sold as Seen with No warranties or guarantees.

So as you can see, anthing can be incomplete, and not fit for purpose. I have told OH he must not buy anything else still in a box, as we can't see it and check all the bits are there. He says he is going to make some doors, so I will see how that turns out.

Lots and lots of rain here today.

Today it is mine and OH's anniversary.

So we decided to go with the family to Pizza Hut for tea as they all enjoy it there and I like the salad bar especially. Had a lovely meal, son drove so OH could have a glass of wine with our meal. Son has a small car, so all 5 of us squashed in it, the rain was absolutley torrential. Just as we were about to join the motorway, his damn wipers stopped working! He only just managed to change lanes, and avoid joining the motorway! It was so frightening as he couldn't pull in for awhile and not only were we on a huge roundabout, but it was rush hour so horrendous traffic and pouring rain. Eventually he managed to find a pull in, and we had to just leave it there as there was no let up in the rain. We waited about half hour at bus stop, then OH rang taxi who took 4 of us home. Cost us ÂĢ10. Daughter had to walk to train station as we couldn't get 5 in a taxi, so she eventually got home 2 hours later! Not a good ending to a nice meal out. Tomorrow OH is driving son to get the car (if its not raining) and to take it to garage.

I now have a laundery full of 5 lots of soaking clothes!

Goodnight both xxx

Afternoon Mollie and Hicky   Hope you’re all having a good day . ... and belated happy anniversary Mollie ....but  at the wiper problem ....that must have been scary....and what a shame it spoilt your night out That’s interesting info about Vitamin D Hicky And hope your ankle s a bit better today Mollie .

I’ve stripped the bed, done another load of washing and ironing , and planted up about 40 spring bulbs ( mostly various types of daffs)....some in Mr Bs  flower bed,  and some in pots ....only about another 40 to go ....but I think I’m going to leave those for the gardenerTo say I’m knackered is an understatement! I think I’ve probably overdone it a bit ...cue an aching back tomorrow ....but I’m getting quite panicky about my daughter being away on her holidays soon  ....not that I would dream of telling her .... and it was either work myself silly today , or curl up in bed feeling sorry for myself , so I gave myself a proverbial kick up the rear

Anyway , enjoy your Saturday evening both .

Baz

Evening Mollie & Baz.

Late tonight been messing about with the printer and printing some pictures of the latest granddaughter that is in Oz, have ordered more photo paper as only had some free samples but they work good, even better if you remember to change the size and remember which size is in the printer, messed up a couple.

Not a bad day really, 21c sunny most of the time but a fresh breeze.

Picked some more peas for my stirfry i had earlier, cooked a Lobster tail to ge with it.

Had salt cod and bacon with pouched eggs for brekkie.

Picked a big Jalapeno chili to go in the stirfry as well.

Most of the big onions in the raised beds have fallen over so bent the rest as you are supposed to, they stay in the ground for a week like that then i lift them to dry, outside if it isn't going to rain else i will put them in the gazebo, very handy for drying stuff.

This wrist / arm rest is fantastic, love it, it is 1cm thick and warm, you can't beat that.

Mollie. The belt wouldn't break as it's leather but it is old and i love the Alligator ones, it will be as close as i'll get to one, although i have touched stuffed ones.

Hope your o/h will be able to make doors for the unit, is the unit wood or plastic?

Happy Anniversary for Yesterday, oh dear that breakdown sure spoiled that, at least you had eaten, that is unusual these days, wipers are pretty reliable, wonder what happened.

I remember when i was young and i had some old cars, the wipers didn't work on one when i got it home, i rang them and told them, they said bring it in, then they said the electric motor has gone they would have to order one, when i got home i told my brother, he came round, he was a bus mechanic but good on cars, he told me my wipers aren't electric they work on vacuum from the engine, it has a vacuum control behind the dash, he put his hand behind, found the rubber pipe and pushed it back onto the controller and they worked.

Hope the car is ok when he goes back for it.

Baz, Well done on the planting, i have to sit down most of the time as bending over the beds is hard on my back.

You have to try hard not to panic about your daughter going on holiday, it is going to be hard, at least you have a daughter, wish i had one, well i say that, did have one for a few days, in 1964 i think, another story.

Have a good night, not much on tv, i'm watching the darts from Melbourne.

Hicky

Baz and Hicky

Baz

you have been busy in the garden. How nice you have put some in MrB's flower bed as it will look so pretty come next spring. But hope you are not suffering too much with your back now. Aaaww you are just so sweet hiding from your daughter you are a bit panicky about her going away, so she is not concerned. You have done so well handling it by keeping yourself busy.

Hicky

how nice to print out some photos of your little grandaughter. Are you going to frame them to place them somwhere you can see them in the house?

That's good you are getting on so well with the arm rest.

The storage unit is plastic but OH thinks he will make the door from some sort of plywood, it has been too wet for him to start it yet though. At least I am real pleased with the table though.

That is interesting what you said about when your wipers went. OH and son  collected the car yesterday and left it at the garage, who are going to look at it tomorrow. So I hope it doesn't cost too much to fix. The arthritis in my feet/ankles has been bad since I had to do all that walking in the pouring rain on the horrible grass verges. It should start to ease again soon though.

That was such a sad tale about your baby daughter, I am sure Baz would be interested in hearing about it some time. I know you have a few sons, but can't remember now, how many do you have?

Not a bad day, but the odd heavy shower. Not done much, just a bit of tidying and some boring shopping for oddments like shampoo.

Have a good evening both xxx

M

Evening Mollie & Baz.

Had a lay in till 10am with it being Sunday, had eggs on toast for brekkie.

When i looked over neighbours fence this morning to see if she was putting any shopping out i noticed her hubby sitting on the bottom step, strange as i knew he wouldn't be able to get up, after his o/h came out with his stick he still couldn't get up, i was just going to ask if he wanted me to go round when he asked if i would, he just needed 2 people in front so he could pull against us so he could stand up, that worked ok, he went indoors and we sat on the patio for a while chatting, i asked her if she wanted potatoes, cucumber and Jalapeno chilies, yes, so i went back home and got her stuff for her.

With all the vine growth in the greenhouse now i won't be able to have veg growing in there so will make a Poly Tunnel over one of the raised beds, i can use the fruit tree tubing and i have the plastic sheet somewhere all ready.

I made a roast beef dinner, got 4 medium spuds from the garage, used a pack of my new frozen peas and had a small cauliflower which i steamed with the peas, nice, got enough for a meal tomorrow.

Think the Wet AMD has come back in my left eye, keep getting kinks in the straight edges again, they won't do the Cataract now i fear, go to get the eyes tested again so will see Tuesday, will need another session of injections i think.

We could put the photo's in frames, we had loads in multi-frames which hold 5 photo's in each.

If you are going to use your new tool store outside then it would probably need Marine Ply and not standard ply as that would de-laminate.

I always bout the car manual for each car i got, that way you can look up to see what any part is, maybe Halfords have one, you need one though.

Then you could see if the wiper was an electric motor or a vacuum one.

Yes, that walking etc from the car didn't do your ankles any favour, best rest them while you can.

Yes, the tragedy over my daughter is something i will never forget or get over, when i phoned for an ambulance to call went to the call center but they had to ring a driver as they all went home at night, when they found a driver he came without an incubator or anything to put the baby in, and the baby being 6 weeks premature and weighing 2 LB she didn't stand a chance, i rang the hospital the next day to see how she was, they said she had died, that was it, that was how things were in 1964, the ambulance driver in bed and he had to ride on his bike to the ambulance shed to get an ambulance.

I have 5 Sons, the 1st born 1961 and the last born 1980.

Have a good Evening.

Hicky

Afternoon Mollie and Hicky   Sunshine and showers here. But I managed to dodge them I’ve been to counselling this morning ....so feel pretty wiped out ....but I did pop into town afterwards cos I had to post my youngest GDs birthday card ...pick up a couple of provisions. My counsellor has given me some *homework* this time ....I have to do something nice for myself ....so I bought myself a new jumper Hope you’re both having a good Monday

I am so very sorry about your daughter Hicky Mr B and I also lost a baby (through miscarriage) ...so I know a little about how awful it is . We never had any more ( we married late ) but he always treated my kids like his own ....he was a great dad . Mollie , I hope your ankle isn’t giving you too much gyp today .  I ...or rather my back ,..paid for my bulb planting But I’m pleased I manage to do it , and , if they all come up Mr Bs bed should look amazing next spring .

Anyway , I hope you both have a good evening ....I’ll be glad when Bake Off and Masterchef start cos I’m struggling to find viewing this week ! And I believe the first Strictly Come Dancing is due on September 7th too  Take care both

Baz

Evening Baz.

Not too bad today, 18c rain showers and sunny intervals with a fresh breeze.

Had eggs on toast for brekkie, midday had a beef sandwich, for tea had some veg left over from yesterdays meal and boiled some more new spuds from the garage stock, and sliced the rest of the beef joint.

In the day i changed the keyboards over and took the old one to bits to clean the unit and keys, took the 103 keys out and cleaned in hot soapy water, the best i brushed the rubbish out then cleaned with a kitchen cleaning wipe, the keys dried on the window ledge on the extension.

Had to create a text file to find out where the hash and pound keys were.

I might swap the keyboards back when the other is put back together.

I also did a machine of washing today, it dried out on the wall pull out dryer, the wind would dry anything.

Just got to fold the shirts and put the rest away.

Glad you went to counselling, it should help long term, homework, nice, you should decide to treat yourself on a certain day every week, then you will always have something to look forward to, like a birthday every week.

Sorry to hear you also lost a baby, life can be so unfair.

Yes the baby was a great shock, she was my 1st wife's second baby, and early one morning she just fell out, we didn't know what to do so rang for a midwife and ambulance, the baby was perfect, lovely hair and nails etc, probably about 54 years ago, but i remember most of what happened.

Have a good evening, roll on some decent programs, SCD launch on the 26th.

Hicky

Baz and Hicky

Baz

well done on completing your cousellor's homework. I hope it is a nice jumper you really like. Not long until the cooler weather now, so you will have plenty of change to wear it. What colour is it? I love buying new clothes.

Aaaww what a lovely man your MrB must of been, making sure all your children were treated as his own. Sorry to hear you had to go through the sorrow of coping with miscarriage.

Hope your back is now improved from the bulb planting. It will be so exciting next spring to see how your work pays off.

I too will be glad when the autumn shows start, not much stuff to watch right now.

Hicky

sounds like you were kept busy with your techy keyboard stuff today.

That is one good thing about the wind, it is good for drying washing.

I thought it was 5 lads you said you had got, you were always used to a busy household then. Is your lad in Oz the youngest one?

Yes I can believe that very sad day you lost your daughter, even though it was all those years ago, is one you will never forget.

Quite a nice day today, only the odd shower, so we just had to go to the seaside for an ice cream. I had a coffee one, delicous. Had a quick go on the 2p arcade again and won a few tickets for the kids.

I made a cheese salad wrap for tea and had it with some sweet potato mash. Yummy.

Cant find anything to watch on tv again, will have to watch a recording.

Have a good evening both xxx

M

Evening Mollie.

Not too bad today, 18c with sunny spells and a moderate breeze.

Had fried sliced leftover spuds with bacon and fried eggs with toast for brekkie.

Went to the eye clinic, o/h took me and stayed, had an eye test, same as 2 months ago, then had the eye drops that sting and last for 4 hours and make seeing hard, then had colour pictures taken, i mentioned about the cancelled Cataract Op and due for one next month and sw a couple of curved vision lines, she said she would leave a note, the doc will probably look at the pictures tomorrow and if there is any problem will let me know, otherwise Cataract Op can go ahead.

For tea i made 2 salmon salad sandwiches, but forgot 1 item, you guessed, the salmon, darn it, also had 2 bowls of seafood soup, yummy.

I have taken a few pictures in the greenhouse, 1st is the Walnut tree, next is the Mini Water Melon, last is a couple of bunches of grapes from the Autumn Royal vine, not ready till Late September/October.

I might change the keyboard back now it has been cleaned as this one is not the same, it could be a US one as it has the $ as the main currency key and some of the symbols shown are not what prints.

No, my lad in Oz is number 4, and they now have 4 properties in their port folio.

Your coffee ice cream sounds good, love the seaside, i love going on arcade machines, i would stay all day.

Baz

hope you are well and have had a good day.

Hicky

let's hope your tests come back ok so you can get the catacts sorted ok.

That's good your OH was around to take you there.

Thank you for the lovely photos. That little walnut tree is looking good.

Your mini water melons are looking good too (and well lookied after too, hanging on the line in their mini sacks.) You are in for a yummy treat Sept/Oct time by the look of those grapes already.

That's interesting your keyboard could be a US one. Did you get it from amazon?

Gosh your lad number 4 has 4 properties. Are they all in Oz?

A nice sunnyday most of today. But real heavy short showers by afternoon/ evening. Went swimming this afternoon, then took some old bedding to the dogs home. The way the poor dogs waiting for a home look at you is so sad. But they are well cared for in the home, and a lot had been rehomed.

Watching the drama that is filmed not far from here called Keeping Faith tonight.

Goodnight both xxx

Wow Hicky , your fruit is looking good Hope you get positive news about the cataract op. Mollie , I used to love the 2p slots ( or rather 1d in my day ) My jumper is a pale green , slashed neck ...sort of an autumn weight jumper , if you understand what I mean

I am off to the spa with my daughter tomorrow ...she is getting her finger and toenails gelled , ready for her holiday on Friday ....so I thought I’d join her ...cue sparkly nails Anyway, have a good evening ...although once again tv is dire ! Take care

Evening Mollie & Baz.

20c today sunny intervals and moderate breeze.

Had some fried sliced baby spuds left over from yesterday with mushrooms and fried eggs with toast.

Went to the Farm again for some cmoked streaky bacon and sausage meat, had to get sausages instead if sausage meat.

Wanted the sausage meat and the streaky bacon to make a stuffed chicken breast.

The gardener was next door trimming treesetc so had a word, need the trees taking out of the big tubs, too much for me.

I made the stuffed chicken breast for tea, very nice but something missing and don't know what, o/h suggested chili sauce, maybe i should have marinated the chicken first and added some seasoning to the lot.

I have ordered a Potato peeling machine, this one does up to 1kg so is fine for me, this one: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0...713361_t1_B0050HBAA2

I have put the old keyboard back, will keep the new one as a spare.

Mollie, I can see the curve in lines so doubt if they will do the Op, they don't like operating if the eye can bleed.

I tasted and tested the grapes, the Blix tester shows almost ripe for Desert grapes, the tester showed 19 on the Blix scale which is an alcohol of 10%.

Yes, when the melons are not on the ground they need support, the one in the picture will be about 2kg now.

One of my lads properties is in the Philippines, his o/h had bought it, he had 2 pieces of land by a forest but sold 1 of them, we went to see the other but two thirds of the plot is in the forest but you can't clear it, he was going to sell it.

Yes, i got the keyboaed from amazon but sent from in the UK, it didn't have a box so no idea where it came from.

Baz, Wow you have had a busy day, I have put my green bin out today it get emptied Thursday.

Enjoy the spa and nail session, a nice treat for yourself.

Just watching the Repair Shop, got loads of recording anyway.

Have a good night Both. : )

Hicky

Baz and HIcky

Baz

I see you have been busy and organised too today.

I know just the type of design of jumper you mean, and it sounds lovely. You are all set up for looking nice this autumn now.

How nice to have a trip to the spa arranged for tomorrow with your daughter. Hope you enjoy and are pleased with the nails. Wonder what colour you go for?

Hicky

tha't s handy the gardener was next door so you could ask him to do the job for you.

Hopefully your stuffed chicken will be just perfect next time.

What a shame you need the problem eye sorted, so will likely have to postpone the op. HOpe they can sort it quickly.

Last time I saw doc a couple of weeks ago, he asked me to go back for follow up, so I did today.

He asked if I had been swimming and I said yes I had been going swimming, but my feet were giving me more problems, and it hurt to climb out of pool, (and other times), so he gave me stronger co-codemol to help with this to take if I needed it before swimming, and bed, and referred me to physio and podiatrist, so I will go to them tomorrow.
I asked about the pins and needles and numbness I get in one leg after standing as I worried it would be a blood clot and he said not to worry, it was not deep enough, just surface blood vessel problems after that big fall I had a while ago. He said to move around if I get that.

Am watching the itv drama Deep Water tonight. Enjoyed Repair Shop, I liked that toy tiger they fixed today.

Goodnight both xxx

M

Baz and Hicky

Baz

hope you enjoyed your trip to the spa with your daughter. How are your nails looking now?

Hicky

hope the weather was ok for you to get in your lovely garden.

Bit dull here and some drizzle, but not too bad.

Went to physio today and he said I had corrected my last incorrect walk, but  developed a different inocrrect one now! How clever am I?   Oh heck! Because of the pain in my feet, I am walking on the balls of my feet now, which will make the pain worse in the end. So he gave me exercises and a lesson in how to walk properly (again!). Had me walking up and down the corridor. In the end, he even watched me leaving walking through the waiting room corridor which was full of people waiting, and he was correcting me as I went. The people were all laughing at me, with comments, eg you better try harder than that,!...you will get  a slap on the legs off him! ....How embarrassing.  (but quite funny too).

Then off to other hospital for podiatrist. She said I was not wearing suitable shoes for someone with arthtritis, and I had to get sensible shoes fitted properly. eg velcrow straps. I looked so horrified when she showed me an example, that she gave me another catalogue saying there might be something a bit more modern in it, trainer wise for me, as I needed a wide fit and cushioned bottom.  i was definately not wearing the type she first showed me. She has put me on the 12 weeks waiting list and told me in the meantime to sort some sensible shoes. She said the shoes I had on (which were the most "sensible" ones I had! )  were only ok to wear on odd occasions to go out in. Oh dear, I love my modern, sparkly shiny shoes.

Tomorrow me, daughter, OH and son going to New Quay and staying for one night , in a cheapo caravan. Let's hope it will be ok. So won't be back on here until Sunday. Will tell you all then. Even if the caravan is grotty, at least the weather looks promising.

Have a good evening both xxx

M

Evening Mollie & Baz.

21c today, light cloud and a fresh breeze.

Had bacon and black pud with fried eggs for brekkie.

Made some more shortbread biscuits this morning.

My pack of Photo paper arrived this morning, it's A4 so i can cut it to the size i want, with the guillotine.

The gardener will come round tomorrow if he has time as he has a job to do next door, there are so many stubs of trees in tubs that need sorting out.

I picked 5 Figs from one of the trees, also a bowl of Strawberries but i have to pick them early as if they ripen too much the insects eat them.

Hope the stronger medication will ease your pain from your feet.

I suppose how you walk is bound to effect the strain on feet ligaments etc.

Glad the pins and needles was only surface, wow, i suppose blood restrictions are in the arteries.

Good how the physio could tell how your walk has changed, not nice having people talking about you but if you laaugh about it thats fine, they were only having fun.

Yes, you need the correct footwear as the support has to be right or you get more pain, my sandals are velcro, just love it.

Hope your New Quay caravan jaunt goes Ok, hope the weather stays good for you.

See you when you return, have a great time all of you.

Hope the Spa & Nail pampering day went well Baz?

Hicky

Afternoon Mollie and Hicky  Hope everyone is enjoying the sunshine . My spa trip went well yesterday, and I have just got back from my volunteering stint ....it went ok .....but I’ve only got two more weeks to go , and I’m going to miss it My daughter’s plane got off ok ...only a slight delay .....and she is now half way across the Atlantic.

Mollie , hope you have a lovely time at Newquay ....weather looks set fair ....and your feet aren’t too troublesome Hicky , hope you are having a good day m all your gardening puts me to shame....although I might plant out the rest of my bulbs this weekend ...back permitting

Anyway , I hope you both have a good evening

Baz

Evening Baz.

A lovely day here with 22c sun and a moderate breeze.

Didn't do much, o/h brought my shopping list, had sausage and tomato for brekkie.

Gardener hsn't been back, probably so busy, it will keep.

For tea had a Laksa soup with added mushroom, was going to make a mushroom stirfry but decided on salad sandwiches instead.

The World series of Darts just starting from New Zealand, Masters.

Have picked 7 Figs might have them later.

Glad the volunteering went ok, it gets you out of the house, why have you only got 2 more to go?

Glad your Daughter got away ok, although you will miss her so much, the time will pass pretty quick.

Have a good evening.

Hicky
