Baz and Hicky

Baz

yes this hot humid is even worse today!

Oh dear, poor you having to go to town on public transport. I bet you couldn't wait to get home for a cool drink and sit down.

I am lucky today in that I didn't need to go out, other than take the dog a walk, which I did around 8am before the real heat struck. We didn't go far because even at that time, it was far too hot.

Fingers crossed it does cool down for your 1st volunteer session. Is it tomorrow? I think the forecast says it is due to cool down, hope they are right. Its no fun when it is so hot and humid we are stuck indoors next to a fan all day  ,then can't sleep at night. Good luck with your volunteer job.

Hicky

what a thing leaving you waiting around so long for a docs phone call. Hope the new meds help and don't give you any nasty side effects. Just nag them to see doc if they do. Did the surgery tell you to check your BP regularly and to take tablets if it went up?

Good idea to get the gardner to do things you find too exhausting now, as you do well doing all the things you do manage to do. It is a lot of work for you with all that excelent produce you grow.   So don't overdo it especially in this heat.

you are right, better not tell too many people I offer cheese and tomatoes on toast for brekkie every time my friend calls in.

A couple of years ago, I bought one of those dyson fans (a bit like the one the queen has in that photo with Boris! But mine isn't hot and cold just cold), and it is real good, I have it on all night and rather than  a noisy drafty fan, it is more like a quiet breeze. Really pleased with it.

Nearly the end of Love Island. I think if the boxer and girl win , it is a rather dull and predictable win. So I wonder if anyone else stands a chance?

Did you see Chantelle , ex BB winner, on This Morning with 2 of the ex Love Islanders today?

Yesterday, me, daughter, son went with OH to meet a prospective client in Bristol. We went shopping whilst he was busy and had coffee. Went to Primark, I got a new pink Toy story nightie as it looks cool and baggy for hot weather, a pair of Minnie slippers and some soft sandals. Traffic is so busy round Brisotl compared to where we live, especially where it joins the motorway to London. Was glad to get home as it was so hot there.

Going to watch Fake Or Fortune tonight, and record Love Island.

Have a good evening both xxx

M

Evening Both.

Wow, a hot day here at 28c + sun a thunder storm and a moderate breeze.

You know that old saying that bad news can come in 3's, well.

Early this morning, 8am had to repair i hole in a hose pipe under some decking outside the kitchen/utility room where outside i have one of 2 taps that supply the watering system for the garden, had finished the repair in time for the automated system to kick in.

Then i noticed some water in the slate at the side of the decking, and noticed the washing machine was on, i took up a trap door i laft over the grid when i did the decking, it was flooded and the grid full, i couldn't do it my self all though i did try, called Dyna-rod. while he was here clearing the blockage (which was fat) the phone rang.

On answering the phone it was the hospital to tell me my planned Cataract surgery in the morning has been cancelled to an emergency.
OMG, the o/h has taken the day off work, i bought ham to take as sandwiches and my eyes going worse by the day, happy times.

It,s 31c at my dexk, wow.

For brekkie had egg sandwiches, midday had an ice lolly, for tea had the ham i bought to take on sandwiches to the hospital as advised, so had that for tea with salad on as well.

Have been working out my next tree move so o/h can have her grassed are after the fruit is picked, just apples and pears on those 6 trees.

I am pricing putting down in a 31 sqm area a wooden frame with strips of marine play over it so the surface can be turfed with astro turf, if you don't have a hard surface under the turf then you can't really put much on it as the turf couldn't hold it.

At least you got a Spa hour, anything is good in this heat, in my summerhouse it was 35c, yes, public transport could be rather hot.

But in hot countries public transport doesn't have glass in windows, it doesn't have anything in, just a hole, and it's still hot.

It has been suggested that standing a container of cold water and ice in front of a fan can make a lot of different in cooling you down.

Or go for a late shop to Sainsbury's it's pretty cool in there.

Because o/h isn't at work in the morning we will do a small shop in M&S food hall.

She couldn't go in to work now as they had to replace her for the day.

Hope the volunteer stint goes well, can't remember when it is. though.

I'm sticking to the desk.

Hicky

Evening Mollie & Baz.

A lot cooler today, in fact sun was hard to find really, 23c sunny intervals with a gentle breeze.

We went to M&S Foodhall, nice, got plenty of fruit and veg, plus little that o/h keeps saying don't buy but keeps either offering me them or showing them to me.

O/H been cleaning out the Gazebo and scrubbing down BBQ and utensils etc, will be making use of that now, could even start in the morning.

Got to make a small list for shopping in the morning, o/h will get a few items not available in M&S.

Been tidying the garden again, have now removed all the uprights from the Cherry fruit netting frame

Picked another cucumber, saved me buying one, the Showmaster onions are showing above ground now pretty good.

Got 3 videos from the nusary where granddaughter in Oz spends most week days when parents at work, they post either pictures or videos almost every day, it is a super place and teaches the children all about feeling material watching stuff handling different materials and experiencing many toys and tunnels etc, also of course the other children of a similar age play together, such a happy time.

Have a good Weekend, it's almost here.

Another Grand Prix weekend but of course highlights this year in all but 1, darn greedy Sky, wish they would go bust.

Hicky

Hi Hicky and Baz x

Baz

hope you have had a cooler day today. Did you manage to get out and about?

No Gogglebox tonight! How annoying.

Hicky

oh dear at your ups and downs yesterday. Not good to have your op cancelled at the last minute after you had built up to it. And a waste of your OH's days leave. Let's hope they don't leave you waiting too long to rescedule it.

Good job you managed to get Dyno rod out so quickly to sort the water out. And hope the repair to your hosepope holds now.

That's nice you bought some food treats from M and S. I too like going there now and again for treats.

HOpe you enjoy your BBQ tomorrow, now your OH has preprepared things for it.

How nice you get to see the nursery videos of your grandaughter.

I agree Sky are real greedy, I need to sort out leaving them completely but need time to sort out the transfer properly.

Daughter and I took over 2 cakes she made for neighbour's sons 30th birthday today. She did a car shaped one and a fresh cream pineapple cake that they wanted. So difficult to get this one right, as she was fighting against the extreme heat in the kitchen!

OH and I went to view the auction, not much of interest there though.

Then all the family went for tea in our fave pub by seaside. I had caneleloni with ricotta and spinach, very nice.

Watching Celebs in barges now, recorded Love Island to watch later or tomorow.

Goodnight both xxx

M

Afternoon Mollie and Hicky Hope you’re both enjoying the cooler weather today . It’s rained here most of the day , and tbh it’s lovely I survived my volunteering yesterday ....although I was shattered by the end of it ....still I slept like a log last night ...first time in ages !

I love M&S food hall too Hicky ....Mr B and I use to pop in there every week for a few luxuries  , but it’s out of town so I now have to my daughter to take me when she comes over, as I don’t drive . I love their fish  ( especially the fresh salmon ) and meat . Did you enjoy Celeb Barging Mollie....they were in my neck of the woods recently . I think it’s hilarious...we have a thread ...makes up for the lack of  Gogglebox

Anyway , I hope you both have a good evening. Take care

Baz

Evening Mollie & Baz. :

Only 18c today, light rain all day with a moderate breeze.

Heard o/h going to work at 6.15am, went to the loo at 7am then got back to bed an woke at 10am, hurried around opening courtains etc and emptying the dish washer before o/h got home.

We had brunch in the Gazebo, just burgers today with onions.

Was going to have tea on the BBQ as well but weather didn't improve and it was too miserable outside.

My new Op date came, it was sent the same day they old me Op cancelled, next date Fri 13th September, again at 7am.

Stayed indoors most of the day, not a keen rain gardener, just watched TV.

Picked a bowl of Jalapeno chilies from the greenhouse, sliced and made a mix to bottle them, got half a litre.

Got so much fruit from M&S, banana's, Nectarines, Cherries, Pears, strawberries, yummy.

For tea i made Ham salad sandwiches, but as you might have guessed, i forgot the ham again, which really means you don't need the ham.

Mollie, Yes, all the Op preparation wasted, can't be helped, but a pain when it cost money, wages and a pack of ham.

The Dyna-Rod feller was so quick, he knew what the problem was, got a giant plunger thingy and cleared the blockage in minutes, he had the massive machine but didn't need it, was very thankful for them coming anyway.

I think they have a cheek asking your daughter to make 2 cakes, wow, it's not easy and a lot of responsibility for your daughter.

Pity nothing at the auction showing, i suppose it depends what you were hoping to see.

Thats nice to all go for food in the Pub, you can't beat that.

Baz., Glad you volunteering went ok, it will be easier next time i imagine. that was good getting a good sleep, you sure needed that.

This M&S i went to is just a small Foodhall, not sure what fish they had, they did have  cooler compartments but i get my fish delivered.

Have a good Evening and a good Sunday.

Hicky

Baz and Hicky

Well done Baz on going to your voluntary job. So pleased it went well and you got a good nights sleep after.

Glad to hear you enjoyed the bit of rain you got. I am sure your garden was glad of it too. I didn't manage to catch all of the barging programme, but I agree, what I saw was really funny.

Hicky

nice for you to have a lie in on a rainy day, and to have brunch in your gazebo.

Glad to hear you have another date for your op.

The fruit from  M and S is good quality , so I am sure you will enjoy all of it.

Good job the dynorod was available and did such a good job.

Who do you want to win Love Island? I don't really want MollieMay and Tommy to win as I find them so boring. I quite like India and the basketball one .What a beautiful lady she is, and he is so sweet.

It was hard work for daughter making the 2 cakes in the extreme heat, but she didn't mind as the neighbour paid for the ingredients and also some payment for her time making them, as she had asked for such difficult cakes.

It was Costco for food shopping today and my usual fave cheap jacket potato meal.

A nice day here today, as it wasn't too hot, around 23, but a nice bit of cloud too, so it didn't feel uncomfy.

Not much on tv tongiht at all.

Goodnight both xxx

M

Evening Mollie.

The problem with the fruit is, i eat it too quick, it's gone in a couple of days.

Not sure who i want to win Love Island, i love Maura, yes, India is lovely.

I rang Dyna-Rod because they are so well known and couln't take a chance on ringing a company i don;t know, it sounded like they are part of a big company as they mentioned on the auto phone messages about BT and British gas.

Have you seen those Special cakes Costco make, so cheap as well, i used to look at them by the cake area, massive individually made cakes for customers.

I put the watering system on a 24 hour delay as it rained all day, and if it rains tomorrow i might do the same.

I watched the F1 practice earlier, Lewis on Pole again, Farari had problems so they didn't make the top 10.

Good morning Hicky

I have certainly seen these cakes! And I have bought them a few times. They are excellent, and huge too. I used to order them on my mum's birthday for them to all share at the day centre she attended. I ordered them online and you can pick from a choice of patterns, and colours and personalise your own message. You can also go for vanilla or choc cake. I think they sell a lot of them.

Love Island, I think I prefer India and her partner to Maura, but must admit Maura has been entertaining, some of the things she says, she certainly doesn't lack confidence!  not long to wait now till we know who wins.

Yes best to ring someone well known for specialising in the job you need doing, so Dynorod it had to be.

Hope it is a bit drier for you today so you can get in your garden. I remember work messing your OH about re Sunday working. Did she eventually give up Sundays all together?

Time for me to put the washing on whilst it is nice and sunny. I am glad that hot and humid weather has gone now.

Hope you have a good day Baz and Hicky. xxx

M

Afternoon Mollie and Hicky  It’s rained all day here ...and it’s actually quite chilly ....talk about from the sublime to the ridiculous ....but I’d rather this than that stifling heat ! My daughter and her partner have been over and replaced one of my smoke alarms ....and moved the sofa bed in anticipation of my new chair arriving . We also went to M&S and stocked up my fridge goodies again

Hope you’re both enjoying your Sunday . ...do you have a fave to win Love Island ? I’ll be glad when the autumn comes and some of my fave series....such as SCD, Masterchef  and I’m a Celeb  are back

Anyway , enjoy the rest of your Sunday and have a good evening

Baz

Evening Mollie & Baz.

Only 17c here today, heavy rain all day, with a fresh breeze.

Stayed in all day, apart from a trip to the greenhouse to see how it is.

Abandoned the idea of eating in the gazebo today, had bacon eggs on toast for brekkie, for tea had soup then got 2 rolls from the freezer and made a steak sandwich with the minute steaks we got for the BBQ.

F1 from Germany at 7pm  with Lewis on Pole but Verstappen 2nd.

Mollie, Yes, the Costco cakes amazed me, always had a look at them when i went.

It's rained for 2 days and nights here, should be better Monday.

Further South had a lovely day, not where i am though.

Baz, Smoke alarms are a pain when the battery is going, always best to get them replaced or new batteries.

It's good that your daughter and partner can help you out when needed, glad you have rearranged the furniture now.

I wonder who will leave Love Island tonight, one couple leaves, the final is Monday, it will be a shame but it could be anyone, who wins is anyones guess but it could be India and Ovie.

Yes, like you looking forward to those programs you mentioned.

Hicky

Good Evening All.

Weather better today with a 21c with sunny intervals and a gentle breeze.

Spent a while removing a shelf from the cupboard under the sink, the removable U/Bend cap can't be removed as it is resting on the middle shelf, i can't remove the shelf as it needs to lift up so it became quite a job, i have various types of saws, about 6 or more, one being an electric one, that seemed the most likely to cut through the shelf in parts so it could be broke up and removed, it took about half an hour but i got it out.

Been planning were to move the trees i'm keeping, going to move at least 4 trees down to the bottom half of the garden, the other side of the Gazebo leaving a 31 sqm area for o/h to do what she wants, which seems to be an Astro Turf area.

Had sausage and tinned toms for brekkie, for tea decided on the mushroom stirfry i had from my shopping, had 2 pices of frying steak cut up to give it interest,

I see Anton went last night, what a strange lad, getting his mum to shave his bum at his age, and now Belle, no idea who will win, don't all the HM's choose the winner?

Hicky

IAfternoon Mollie and Hicky  It’s been a funny old day chez Baz I popped into town , and then my granddaughter and her fiancÃĐ came over ....which was lovely . So far , so good you’re saying ....well wait for it

When I got back from town my new fridge freezer started beeping ....so I checked the doors etc ...everything seemed fine ...and then it stopped .....until about an hour later....while my visitors were here .... it started again! So I rang the makers , explained,  and was told  to try switching it off and on again!  I did that and it appeared to work ....until it started yet again  By this time I was starting to panic , so decided to switch it off at the mains and call engineers again ! Trouble was even with it switched off at the mains it was still bliddy beeping !

At this point I decided to move the waste bin so I could check properly behind the freezer and I suddenly realised that the beep actually appeared to be coming from the bin itself  I opened it up and saw a flashing light half way down the bin  It turns out they had forgotten to take the batteries out when they threw away the old smoke alarm yesterday ...and that’s what was bleeping !To say I’m relieved that it wasn’t my fridge freezer  is an understatement !

Hope your day is less stressful than mine  Have a good evening and enjoy the LI finals

Baz

Baz and Hicky

Baz

Oh my goodness at your tale of the beeping freezer. Thank goodness you eventually worked out what it really was. What a stressful time for you, when you were only supposed to be enjoying your grandaughter's visit.

glad you had help to prepare for the imminent arrival of your chair. ... and help with your smoke alarm too. When is your chair due to arrive?

Hope you enjoy your food treats from M and S.

Hicky

glad the weather was a bit better today. Did you manage to get in your gazebo to eat today?

That shelf job ended up being a job and  half! Well done for getting there in the end.

Hope the weather stays good so you can sort your trees out.

It was nice here again today.

OH had to go to Cardiff with work, so I went too, and had my free coffee and cake at John Lewis. They send me a voucher now and again and their blueberry cheesecake is just delicous.

Time to watch Love island final. Don't mind Amber/Greg or India and partner winning but dont want Tommy and MollieMay to win.

Goodnight both xxx

M

Evening Mollie & Baz.

21c today with cloud, sun, light rain, and thundery showers which didn't arrive.

Not done a lot really, had scrambled eggs on toast with grated chedder over, brekkie was pretty late so didn't eat midday, for tea made a salad then boiled some small new spuds of mine so i could fry some for tea with my fillets of sea bass and i made a white sauce with s few spices in to liven it up.

Mollie, We didn't get into the Gazebo, o/h was working from 06.30 and didn't feel like being outside, not much sun at all.

The cupboard under the sink has no shelf now, it's not really needed, at least we can take the bottom from the sink ubend, it would have been hard to remove the shelf without electric saw as half the cupboard is behind the dishwasher and the sink pipes are low on the shelf so hard with a normal saw, the wood is the compressed stuff which is hard mto cut as it doesn't have a grain and its got a glued on formica type sheet to cover the wood.

Don't blame you going with o/h to Cardiff, why not.

Glad Amber and Greg won, a bit of a shock but with the public voting i thought Mollie & Tommy wouldn't win, the public like a journey.

Very pleased to hear that Love Island will be on twice a year from January 2020, fantastic news, ITV2 had vertually 6m viewers a night for the 8 weeks, breaking all their records.

Baz, Oh dear sorry to hear you had such an awful time tracing the beeping, and to find it was the smoke alarm in the bin, someone naughty throwing device in bin with batteries still in.

I had a similar experience on Monday morning, I watch the TV and have the speakers on to listen, for the computer i use earphones for videos or music, well in the night i heard a voice talking but when i tried to listen it went off, this happened a couple of time so in the morning i put the earphones on to see if the sound was from a program on the computer, i knew it wasnt the TV systen as i put it all off at night, while i had the earphones on i heard the voice again, but not through the earphones, i then realised it was my Dash cam video system that is on the window like a security camera, problem is it has packed up and no longer works, it must have been trying to tell me it had a problem, it sure has it won't work any more.

Hows that for a coincidence, wow, both of us having an unknown sound to trace.

Have a good night all.

Hicky

Baz and Hicky

Hope you had a good day today Baz. Did you manage to get out at all? When does your chair come?

Hicky

sounds like you had a nice variety of food today, I bet your own potatoes are lovely with home made sauce. Daughter also made white sauce today, that I had with jacket potato and vegetable spring rolls. very nice.

That was an early start for your OH. What time does she fiinish? HOpefully you still have enough summer time left to get plenty of other gazebo days.

That's good you sorted the cupboard under the sink.

Yes it was lovely to see Greg and Amber win, they seem so nice. Gosh itv2 have done well with the viewing numbers.

Eventually got round to getting docs appointment as my ankle swelling is getting worse. We have moved surgery now. So he looked at my x rays I had some time ago, and said he was very surprised to see I had not been prescribed pain relief as the arthritus had shown in all the x rays and was worse in the knee I fell on. So he gave me cocodemol, which I reluctantly admit I do need now, as at times it is so painfull. I told him I try to swim twice a week and he recommends I go 3 times. Gosh will have to try and take the time to do so.

Watching A and E. , such an interesting well done film. Wonder what Baz is watching?  I know you watch A and E too HIcky.

Goodnight both xxx

M

Afternoon Mollie and Hicky  Gardeners been so everything is tidy again I slept a bit better last night, so I’ve hoovered , cleaned kitchen,  bathrooms and got bin ready to be put out this evening ...now my rear is parked on the sofa watching Harrow

Hicky , rofl at the phantom voice  My HomePod ( Apple equivalent of Alexa) sometimes suddenly kicks in and answers something on the TV ....doesn’t half make me jump! Mollie , I’m really sorry to hear about your arthritis I haven’t watched A&E yet this week....but it’s GP Behind Closed Doors tonight . Hope you were both pleased with the Love Island winner .....new series of Bake Off starts in August .

Anyway, I hope you are both having a good day , and enjoy your evening .

Baz

Baz and Hicky

Baz

glad you slept better the other night. Sounds like you have been active doing all those house jobs.

Oh dear your Homepad sounds a bit scary (like HIcky's phampton voice) when it suddenly sets off disturbing you.

Thats good that it is nearly Bake Off time again.

I too enjoy GP's behind Doors, so will watch it tonight.

Hicky

hope you have had a good day weather wise, so could get in your garden.

I went with OH to collect his new hearing aid today. (he is nearly deaf in one ear following a bad cold a few years ago). An expensive but amazing pieice of equipment. It is minute in size, you can't even see it hidden insde the ear. It has a choice of several settings, eg in car, in crowds, tv and music modes. He has a remote control so he can control it. It might take him awhile to get used it the lady who did it for him said.

We went for tea at the local buy one , get one free pub today.

I had brie sticks, new potatoes, carrots and peas, very nice it was.

Tommorrow we are going to visit my dad's sister in Northampton. I haven't seen her for a long time, so am looking forward to seeing her. We are staying overnight, so back late Friday. So I wont' be around for a couple of days. See you when I get back.

Have a good evening. xxx

M

Evening Mollie & Baz.

A bit better today, 19c with light rain all day, which didn't arrive and a gentle breeze that did arrive.

Had an omelette for brekkie, before i added the eggs i fried cut up sausages, sliced new potaoes (cooked), fried mushrooms, pretty tasty really.

O/H was dead heading her flowers in the front border raised bed

Mainly watched TV or pottered about in the greenhouse or garden.

For tea decided on a ham salad sandwich or two.

Had a pictures and a video of granddaughter in Oz from Storypark Nursery and also my lad and his o/h came on messenger from Oz with the granddaughter as well live, fantastic, of course 12am here is 9pm in Oz.

Mollie, On Tuesday o/h normally starts work at 9.30am till 1.30pm but one of the early staff has retired so they asked o/h to go in at 6.30, which is her normal starting time for Friday and Saturday.

You do need pain relief for your arthritis, i take an oil capsule in the morning and a glucosomine tablet at night, i don't really get pain but i stiffen up if i stay seated.

Not easy to go swimming 3 times a week, unless you get a heated pool built in the garden.

Didn't realise you could get a remote control for a hearing aid, my dear old mum had a hearing aid but she couldn't put it in and couldn't set the controls which were miniature on it, i didn't know how to set it up either.

The buy one get one free around here just charge double for the first on so you don't really get one free.

Very pleased that Love Island is on twice next year, starting in January.

Baz, Thats good if you can get better sleep now and again.

Never realised Alexa could react from a voice off the TV, but it's just a voice in the end.

Yes, A&E and GP's behind closed doors are fantastic.

Have a good night Both.

Hicky

Evening All.

20c today, cloud and sunny intervals with a gentle breeze.

Hope you overnight stay away goes well, good to have a break.

Had fried sliced new spuds and sliced mushrooms for brekkie with 2 eggs on toast.

I made a loaf using a recipe i saw on TV, the Hairy Bikers made 8 white bread rolls but put sage and onion stuffing in the rolls.

I decided to make a loaf with 50/50 white/wholemeal, the recipe used 50% milk / water, a very simple recipe as follows, 150ml milk, 150ml water, 400g white bread flour, 1 tsp caster sugar, 1 tsp salt, 2 i/4 tsp yeast, warm the milk/water slightly first, add flour sugar salt and yeast keeping them apart, mix and knead for 10 minutes, cover and leave to stand 1 hour, knock down then put in bread tin or divide into 8 to make rolls, if making roll lay the 8 dough balls onto a greased oven tray and leave to stand in warm place for 1 hour, get the oven up to 190c for fan oven and when hot put bread in oven and leave for about 20 minutes, keep your eye on the bread aafter 15 minutes.

I had a slice or 2 while warm, very soft and fluffy, very pleased, going to make 8 rolls Saturday morning for the BBQ to have my sausages and burgers.

For tea i had a bowl of jellied eeels then i fried 2 Barramundi Fillets, very nice too.

The last couple of nights i have been really lost at 9pm when i usually watch LI.

I will watch Sewwer Men, so good, will record New: M&S: past it's sell by date, and record on 4+1 New: Britains Giant Pet food...

I did a bit of weeding in my blue slare walkways, using a helping hand tool, so easy with that because the weed roots have no sloil so they crawl along the weed matting under the slate.

Have a good night all.

Hicky

Evening both   Hope you’re having a good day . Weather here is quite nice and I’ve been for my spa hour .....and I’ve booked a two hour slot next week ....my birthday pressie to me  Apart from that I had a terrible night , and it’s my second shift tomorrow , so I’ve done naff all today

Mollie , I hope you have a lovely visit I like the Hairy Bikers too Hicky I’m watching Serengeti and New Homes from Hell tonight  Anyway , enjoy your evening ...wish me luck tomorrow

Baz

Evening Baz and Everyone.

Quite a nice day really, 22c but it was really 25c sunny and a gentle breeze,

Had eggs on toast for brekkie, but for tea i had 2 beef burgers on a roll with onion then  2 bowls of soup.

My shopping arrived, i didn't need a lot so o/h wont let me go and get it as i pick stuff up like a magpie, anyway i got a leg of lamb for a change to make a curry, My Indian friend in London always bought leg of lamb when we had curry., i have loads of beef and chicken in the freezer anyway.

I tried to follow the YT video to bone the leg, it wasn't as easy as it l;ooked but i did it in the end and packed it in 5 freezer bags with between 250g and 300g in each.

I went to the Dentist today for a small finning in the back of a tooth, i thought i might be able to manage without an injection, any after a few minutes the pain was dreadful so i asked for an injection, i can stand it only for when it hits the nerves.

Glad your Spa hour was ok, a 2 hour one, hope you don't dissolve, a nice Birthday pressie to yourself though.

Sorry you had a bad night, you need something to calm you down at night and help you relax, your brain is working overtime and keeping you awake.

Hope Mollie is having a good break.

Hicky

Afternoon Hicky and Mollie  Quiet day here at chez Baz I changed the duvet cover , done a load of washing and ironing and not much else  The snuggle chair that I ordered on June 1 is finally being delivered on Wednesday

Hope you’re both having a good Saturday .  Hicky , ouch at your tooth I don’t blame you taking the injectionHope it’s all settled down now I’ve not slept well for ages now  .....even without the events of the last year . I get to sleep ok , but tend to wake up every couple of hours ...I think it’s an age thing although I tend to sleep better in the winter than the summer .  Mollie , I hope you had a lovely break with your family....and welcome back

Anyway , Denzel Washington awaits ....Unstoppable ....so I’ll love you and leave you Enjoy your evening .

Baz

Evening Baz and Everyone.

23c today, sunny intervals with a gentle breeze.

Had a busy day really, put the bread machine on knead then weighed the ingredients for a batch of white tear and share rolls, the problem was depending on what flour is used the water may need adjusting, i forgot, the mix was too wet so while it was kneading i was adding flour to stiffen it up, well, it took an hour to get it right, while the rolls were proving i defrosted 750g of my lamb leg to make a Lamb Tikka Masala.

I cit up the lamb into bite size pieces, in the meantime i took the lag bones and cheap shin cuts and put in a big pan to make a lamb stew, added loads of frozen veg and stock also got some medium new potatoes from the garage, cleaned and put in the stew.

The bread rolls are fantastic, i got 8 from the recipe, had one with my tea and o/h took one as well.

I will get another meal from the stew, what i had was very nice, the lamb curry will be put into containers, won't have any today.

Been looking to find out when my Mini water Melon is ripe, they say it can reach 7 kg, i weighed mine on the plant and it's only 1.4 kg, of course i have it supported in a net sling from overhead vine support wires, 2 others are growing but each a lot smaller.

Glad to hear your snuggle chair will be delivered next week.

I wake in the night and go to the loo, have a drink of water then get back in bed, sometimes i am up twice in the night, quite normal as you get older, my o/h has never slep well, a very light sleeper.

I don't go to bed before 1am, i find it very hard to with being a night owl.

I agree, much easier to sleep in the winter, but i still get up once or twice in the night, it's not a problem getting up as the bungalow has lights that are dusk to dawn controlled so lights are always on at night, the porch, hall and dining/living area also is lit, all with LED lights of course as are all lights in the bungalow.

I've got F1 practice on at 6.30 and am enjoying the ladies golf which is on late.

Have a good weekend, hope your break went well Mollie.

Hicky

Hicky and Baz

I am back again after my travels. OH clocked up 350 round miles going up to my aunts, but we had a good smooth journey and great weather.

Baz

glad to hear your new snuggle chair is finally due to arrive Wednesday. HOpe you are pleased with it, especially after having waited so long for it.

What a nice birthday treat to get your 2 hours spa. Hope you have a nice relaxing and pampering day.

Yes I can imagine with your bad year last year you would find it very hard to sleep, but I think as you and Hicky say, as you get older, you don't need so much sleep. I tend to wake a few times a night and definately don't need many hours sleep. And I also agree, it is so much harder to sleep in summer, especially as the night times recently have been so hot and stuffy.

Hicky

You were brave trying without the injection at dentist, but don't blame you asking for one when it got painfull. Hope the tooth is ok now.

Your Hairy Bikers sage and onion rolls/bread sounds delicous.

at your OH not letting you go shopping as you pick too much stuff up.

We had a lovely 2 days with my aunt. She was so pleased to see us as it had been a few years since we had seen her. She made lunch of chicken portions, salad, new potatoes, crusty bread, and home made lemon merinque. Very nice. And we went to a nice carvary for tea. The next day, she made us a tea of pizza, wedges and salad before we left. We went through our old photos of my mums as she knew who a lot of the people in them were. Some of them were from when she was a little girl. (she is 75 now).

Today was another Classic car show in our nearby seaside town, so we enjoyed going to that, and then had ice creams on the seafront. as weather was nice again. Still quite hot and sticky.

Can't find anything to watch on tv tonight, so watching Jayne Mcdonald Cruising I recorded.

Goodnight both xxx

Evening Mollie & Baz.

Not bad weather today with 22c thundery showers which never materialised and a gentle breeze.

Had a bacon and egg roll for brekkie, had a salad rill at 2 pm then at 5,30 finished the lamb stew from yesterday.

Something is eating the plums from the Victoria tree and the Opal tree, haven't seen anything on the tree, not squirrels, not birds as they are eating the underside, can be wasps but haven't seen any yet/, the trees might have to go, there is another plum tree but it doesn't ripen till Sep/Oct.

The greenhouse grapes are getting darker, a long way to go yet though.

My tooth feels ok now, was a bit sore yesterday when the jab wore off.

Glad the 2 day trip went ok, quite a long round trip though, nice to see people you haven't seen for years and good to see photo's from the past.

Life better for you now, classic car shows, ice cream on the seaside.

Going to watch the F1 race at 7 pm, will watch Love Island The Reunion.

Have a good night. :

Hicky and Baz

Hicky

that is not good if something is nibbling your plums! Oh dear. As you say, could be wasps. When we went to my aunts there were lots of wasps hovering round his tomatoes.

Glad your tooth is ok now, always takes a little while to settle after work on them and an injection.

Yes it is a long time since I had time to myself after looking after my mum for so many years. Seems strange to be able to go out places now without worrying about sorting mums care out. So it was good to be able to have chance to visit my aunt after so long.

Like you, I am watching Love Island now.

We went to costco for a shop and cheapo lunch which was nice for such a cheap price.

Still warm and humid here.

Baz

hope you had a good day.

Afternoon Mollie and Hicky  Hope you’re both having a good Monday. I’ve been to counselling....popped into town and done a load of washing and ironing Now I’m laying on the sofa watching tv  Weather has been weird , one minute sunny , next drizzling ...more like April than August !

Mollie , glad you had a nice time with your relatives Hicky , glad your tooth has settled now . Anyway , hope you both enjoy the rest of the day . Take care .

Baz

Evening Mollie & Baz.

Not a bad day really 24c here forecast said only 22c sunny intervals, had sun most of the day, a moderate breeze.

I went to pick what plums i could today, had picked quite a lot when i realised the tree had loads of wasps flying around i had disturbed, they seem to attach the most ripe largest plums, i got a bowl full form the 2 trees and immersed in wwater in the sink incase wasps inside some plums, then i went through them and separated the good and the bad, it would seem that the wasps spend some time on one plum then ,maybe move to another, they eat away from the stalk so it doesn't drop.

I had eggs on toast for brekkie then forgot to have salad sandwiches midday so for tea i made a mushroom stirfry with added prawns and beansprouts and used a sachet of hot and sour soup for the stock, had this over a bed of boiled rice, yummy.

With there being so many prawns in the raw king prawn pack i divide the pack to do 2 meals.

I booked an appointment with the doctor using the myGP app, very pleased, he needs to see my elbow, have been applying the cream twice a day since 8th July, must admit it is looking good, he wanted to see me after his holidays.

Mollie, I've never been bothered by wasps on my plums before otherwise i would have covered the trees in insect netting, they have to go, bye bye plum trees, the next plum tree has large plums on but they don't ripen till September.

My tooth seems to have settled, hope so nothing worse than toothache.

Yes, it can only do you good to get out more now you have the time.

That was good getting a meal again while doing a shop, it's like having a food hall in a restaurant.

I enjoyed the Love Island Reunion last night, did you see it?

Baz, You have had a busy day really, good to keep the counselling up, but washing and ironing isn't very rewarding, i don't mind the washing, with the machine of course but we don't buy clothes that need ironing.

Strange weather your having then, nothing worse than drizzle at it can last too long.

Have a good night Both.

Hicky

Baz and Hicky

Baz

sounds like you had a busy Monday. Hope counselling went well today. Think you deserve your evening relazing with tv now. Hope you didn't get caught out in the rain.

Hicky

gosh the wasps are such a nuisance this year! Cheeky things getting at your plums. I have noticed lots of them around right now. They were even after a kiddies Gregs pastie I noticed today! Impossible to eat a thing outdoors at the moment without those damn things bothering us. Hope they didn't spoil too many of your plums. Wonder why there are so many of them this year?

Glad to hear your elbow is doing well at last. Handy you could use your app to make docs appointment. Do you have to make it weeks in advance? At my last practice, they never had an appointment if made online until 4 weeks in advance!

Yes I did see the Love Island reunion and enjoyed it. Odd to see them wearing that many clothes! I noticed oddly how nervouse some of them were being intereviewed on tv. They must of really forgotten they have been on tv for weeks, and we have been watching them.

We were lucky to have a nice day weather wise as it was not too hot, and no rain either. So we went to Cardiff Bay to see the large lego display and the pretend seaside they do there each summer. They have a big sand area with deck chairs, and a huge paddling pool for the kiddies, fair ground rides, food stalls, boat rides etc, so it was very pleasant. Lots of families there.

Not much of interest on tv tonight, just watching something about the world of rubbish.

Goodnight both xxx

M

Afternoon Mollie and Hicky I hope you’re both having a good day .

Mollie I love the sound of the Lego display ....my son ( who is in his late 40s now ) was a Lego fanatic when he was a child ....kept him quiet for hours

Hicky , my doctors have just instigated a booking app ..using the EMIS system.  I had a quick look at it while I was ordering my repeat prescriptions yesterday ....it looks great ...you can actually see the free doctors /  spaces ....which  much easier than sitting on the phone for hours trying to get through !

I’ve been busy today ...organising the lounge and getting ready for my new arrival tomorrow In addition to that I did a bit more tidying up in the back garden....I’m no gardener , but I am a whizz with the secateurs

Anyway , I hope you both have a good evening ....I’ve got a date with Great Garden Challenge and Alan Titchmarsh National Trust  Take care

Baz

Evening Mollie & Baz.

20c today, light rain, so light i hardly noticed and a fresh breeze.

Made some so called bicuits, a rather strange recipe, anyway, they are like mini nearly bread roll, i've had a few, will have to bin i think as the recipe made rather a lot, and i mean a lot.

will be making some real biscuits Thursday Morning.

For brekkie i had bacon and tomato toasted sandwiches, not tinned toms just some i have from the shopping list.

For tea i had one portion of the Lamb Tikka Masala with a portion of boiled rice.

Am pricing up the cost of Turf and all thats needed to support it, crusher & Run, Grit weed fabric, turf etc, pretty sure i can get it all foir a good price.

The company i got all my blue slate from does it all and delivers.

I have cut down 2 of the plum trees, just to spite the wasps, they have a few plums on the floor, i have the good ones in the fridge.

Mollie, No idea why we suddenly have all these wasps, they had ruined about 50% of the fruit before i even noticed.

The myGP app seemed to give me an appointment for a week ahead, only had a choice of 2 times but quiote a few doctors or nurses but i couldn't change the day.

Yes, but don't forget those on Love Island arent used to sitting in front of an audience on prime time tv, they were in their own little world in the villa, good to see them all again.

That trip to Cardiff Bay sounds good, great to have all that for the children and adults, nothing like that where i live.

Baz, I have a site on my computer i usually use for my repeat meds but i could never get an appointment on it called Patient Access, this new app on my mobile looks good.

Hope you delivery arrives ok now with you doing all the preparations.

Have a good night Both.

that's nice your son was so fond of lego as a youngster. The fire dragon model we saw yesterday, alone took 2200 bricks to make!

That's good your are pleased with your GP booking system. So much easier for them as well as us, if they can give us an internet booking system.

How exciting your new chair is to arrive at last. Hope you are pleased with it when it arrives.

Enjoy your gardening tv tonight.

Hicky

Shame you will have to bin some of your biscuits.

That is handy you can use a company you have already used for the turf. Hope you are pleased with the turf when you get it.

Good idea to get one over on those pesky wasps by taking those plums away for yourself.

I have applied to register for online with our GP,so haven't used it yet. Seems to be hit and miss with varous surgeries, but if it works ok , far better to book online than being held on those damn phone lines.

Yes Love Island folks as you say, were in their own world of the villa, which is entirely differet to a live audience,so no wonder they all looked so nervous.

anyone watching the bbc1 drama Keeping Faith? The beach shots are done not far from us, so strange watching it ais it is so familiare to us, been to the beach areas very oftne. it is also a good drama.

We went to a house auction today, what an experience it was,   will tell you tomorrow about it.

Goodnight both xxx

Evening Mollie.

20c today, sunny intervals and a moderate breeze, had a few drops of rain also.

Had eggs on toast for brekkie, for tea i had the last of the frozen beef hotpot a made a while ago.

The train tickets came for our journey to Suffolk, only going for a few nights.

My lad was on this morning from Oz with his o/h and the baby, she is so cute

We went to the company that supplied our blue slate and i was thinking of buying the material for laying the fake turf, they have all the samples of the turf and o/h is so fussy, they have a fantastic one that is 40 mm thick for ÂĢ31.75 a sqm, i have priced all the materials but of course will have to get prices for labour

Going to make some Shortbread Biscuits in the morning, yummy, got a good recipe, it's the 3, 2, 1 recipe of flour, butter, sugar with some vanilla extract and an egg. i'll probably use the machine to mix it.

I binned all those last lot of so called biscuits, couldn't work out what they were, they were like mini bread rolls, which i don't need.

Yes register for online access to the surgery doctors, it could save those pesky phone calls when you can't get through anyway.

I think the January Love Island is from South Africa or somewhere like that.

No, i don't watch drama, only unscripted shows for me.

Get you, going to a house Auction, sounds exciting, can't wait to hear about it.

Watching GP: Behind closed doors, it's hard with no BB or LI at night, but i have loads of recordings to watch.

Watching celebs go dating, good this series.

Sleep tight.

when are you due to go to Suffolk, should be a nice change for you. Is it a straight through train?

Hope you can get the costing sorted for the turf. Do the staff fit it at the shop or do you intend getting someone else to do it?

Your shortbread recipe sounds like it will be tasty.

I too heard Love Island will be from South Africe, maybe beause it will be summer out there in January?

So nice you can keep up talking to the baby with skype.

Hope you had a good day Baz.

Not bad weather wise today, just a  few sharp showers, My friend came for coffee and I went shopping in tesco for food.

The house auction yesterday was both interesting and amusing....there was about 12 properties  for sale, we had viewed one, but it needed tons of work,.... might of been ok for about 50k , the guide price, but it went for 95k!  Builder sitting by us said even he would not of been interested in it, as it wasn't worth the money it went for as it needed so much spending on it. We didnt bid, but were just interested spectators. Lots of shifty looking characters standing at the back...      Just before auction started, one guy in a group at the back, said to auctioneer in a loud voice.."are you the auctioneer, can you do me a deal on that house right now? Its not good, there are gypsies next door". Auctioneer said that he couldn't and the auction was about to start. So auction went on, some properties went over guide price, some around guide price and 2 didn't sell as they didn't get to price wanted. Then we got to a house near the end, and this guy strides down the aisle staring at the audience looking for the bidders, saying, "this house has gypsies next door". The auctioneer told him to be quiet, and not put bidders off, and he continued glaring up and down the aisles looking for bidders and saying the same thing. I was trying not to laugh. A woman member of staff went up to him to try and get him to leave and auctioneer just carried on. Eventually it sold. I am just guessing the guy who bought it was with this guy and he was trying to put other bidders off bidding for it, so the guy he was with didn't have to bid too high for it.

I too watched G P's behidn Closed doors. Then watched a true programme that was made as  drama about a guy who murdered his wife, and tried to do away with his 2nd one too.

Goodnight both xxx

Afternoon Mollie and Hicky I’m not feeling very well today ...spent whole day on the sofa ....so no spa visit ....and I’ve had to cancel my volunteering tomorrow I feel awful about it , but it’s just not feasible at the moment . On the plus side , my chair arrived on time yesterday

Hope you’re both having a good day though . Hicky , yes , mine is through Patient Access Wow , that auction I recorded that crime programme ....was it any good ? Mollie , hope all is well with you . I love one of the doctors on GPS ....his name escapes me at present ....but he is sooo kind to all the patients , especially the elderly ones

Anyway , I hope you both have a good evening .

Baz

Evening Mollie & Baz.

23c today sunny intervals with a gentle breeze.

Didn't do a lot, had sausage and tinned tom for brekkie, had salad sandwiches at 2pm and had a stirfry at 6pm, for the stock i made a chicken stock and add some gravy granules and some curry paste, very nice it was.

Made some Shortbread biscuits, very nice, o/h loves them as well, not too sweet, the recipe had 190g plain flour, 125g butter and 55g golden caster sugar i added 2 tsp of vanilla essence, roll to 1 cm then bake at 170c fan for 15 to 20 mins till golden brown.

Picked some peas for o/h to nibble at, so nice this fresh.

Will pick another cucumber tomorrow, when i showed the gardener the greenhouse he thouight the cucumber was a marrow, it should have been picked a while ago.

Have got some strawberries ready i think, founf one half eaten by the floor, looked like a slug or some little creature had been eating it.

The growth on the outside vine is crazy, it is growing over the greenhouse now, it grew along the plum trees, untill i chopped some down, and the other way it has grown over the Asparagus bed at high level on the canes supporting dome peas.

Mollie, We go to Suffolk early September before my Cataract op, yes stright through, no changes.

I will have to get a few prices for laying the turf and materials, o/h won't take 1 price.

That house auction sounds horrific, can't believe they could let someone interfere with the running of the auction, i would have been scared to bid.

Am enjoying Celebs go Dating, on now on E4.

Baz, Oh dear Baz, have you been to see the Doctor, you can't stay at home being ill alone, you need help.

Glad the chair came but no good if your ill.

Hope you have a better night, if not you need to go and see doctor.

Hicky

Aaaww poor you, sorry to hear you were feeling unwell. And sorry that meant you missed out on your volunteering. But don't feel guilty about missing it, it can't be helped if you are not well. I hope you feel better soon, but as HIcky says, it might be best to seek medical advice if you don't feel better soon.

I know the doctor you mean on GP show. It is Dr Amir Khan. He is just so lovely to all his patients. I follow him on twitter, so interesting.

Hicky

thank you for your shortbread recipe. I will ask daughter to make it, it sounds delicous. Glad it came out better than your last biccies.

That is so much easier if you can get a straight through train when you go to Suffolk. I hate changing as not only do you have to clock watch if trains are late but I hate changing platforms too.

Looks like the weather this year has helped gvie you great produce growth.

Yes indeed I too would not of bid with the goings on for that one property, the guy looked so scary.

Hot and humid yet again today. So went to seafront for ice cream, but even there, there was no cool breeze. Then late evening we got a heavy rain shower, so its freshened it up a bit. I did lots of washing and got it all dried with it being so hot.

Watched Fake or Fortune, and the Police auctions, fascinating the expensive bling these thieve buy with their nicked cash.

Do either of you watch bbc repair shop at 7pm. If not , I am sure you would like it.

Goodnight both xxx

Afternoon Mollie and Hicky  Hope you’re both  having a good day . The storms haven’t materialised here ...yet  I’m not 100% , but I’m definitely feeling a bit better today  It’s a “woman thing”  Hicky  ....which is a pain , but  can be dealt with at home .....although if needs be I will certainly check in with the doctor I’ve not done much , but I did change the sheets and a load of washing and ironing ....so not a totally wasted day

Mollie , that’s himI think he’s really lovely with the patients  ....fantastic bedside manner ...I wish he was my doctor Yes , I watch the repair shop ....I really like it ...proper feel good programme and some of the stuff they do is incredible . Hicky , you make me worn out just reading all the stuff you do in a day

Anyway , I hope you both have a good evening . Take care

Baz

Evening Mollie & Baz.

23c today it said thundery showers, had a few minutes of light rain and a fresh breeze.

Had mushroom omelette for brekkie to use some mushrooms and eggs before the shopping arrived.

I ordered a set of biscuit stamps for my next lot of biscuits, called cookie stamps, i got the 6 animal set.

Have ordered a new timer switch for the Dualit 4 slice Toaster as i think it jammed the other day and it has jammed before, took it to bits to check which timer is fitted, only 2 are used on all toasters, a square one and an oblong one so it was easy to see which i need, only 6 scews to get the base off.

Took another Cucumber off the plant to have with my salad tomorrow.

Didn't eat midday but had 3 bowls of seafood noodle soup for tea with added mushrooms and spring onions with some chili chopped up.

My new box of 60 packs of crisps arrived yesterday, i wonder how long this box will last?

I have ordered a tub of the cashew nuts i used to get from Costco, Kirkland, love that brand, 1.13 kg, just love cashews, also good to put in meals to add crunch.

I've been trying to work out how i managed to get a secondary voice-over on my TV for a few days, it can get annoying, been googling it and got a couple of leads, decided to check in the settings of my tv box and found a section relating to audio Description that had been turned on, and a note saying you can control it via the remote control on the button marked AD^, must have pressed it when i picked it up.

Mollie, The normal shortbread mixture uses the 3/2/1/ mix and the one i uses was 180/125/55 and i added some vanilla essence but it made it a bit sticky so had to use more flour than normal to roll it out, but with 5g extra of butter and the vanilla must have done that, i got the 3.2.1 from a tv show from the biggest biscuit factory making shortbread, so i'll do that next time.

The train we get does have stops on the way but we stay on, o/h didn't want to change as it could be a problem for me if we were late as i can't rush.

Yes, these people that get money by false pretenses can't help but spend it, but they don't realise it makes them stand out.

I have watched a few Repair Shop but get bored as they flit around, the people are very clever mending the stuff though.

Baz, Hope you carry on feeling a lot better thats the main thing,

The day certainly wasn't wasted if you did all that.

Have a good night, weekend here again, have a good one.

I've just watched 3 tv programs and realised i've seen them all before.

I remeber being offered a bunch of bananas the same as this on the Dock in Singapore in 1961 for ÂĢ1.25 which was about $10 SPD then.

I didn't take them as i couldn't carry the branch let alone get it back to camp some miles away.
