Hi Baz
hope you had a nice day, with a bit of sun too.
Did you make it into town yesterday?
I went to asda today for a bit of food and some t shirts for son.
Afternoon both Hope you are having a good day and enjoying the sunshine
I have been to town today , got some food shopping and took a trip to the library for some new reading matter . The baby tits ( there were 7) in my bird box have all fledged apart from one , which looks very lonely on its own ....but the parents are still feeding it , so fingers crossed it will soon join itβs brothers and sisters .
Baz
A nice day for you to go into town for a bit of shopping and some books. What sort of books do you like? I like reading, but do take awhile to finish a book. I am reading this one right now.
https://www.goodreads.com/book.../31348251-the-friend
I tend to buy mine new or used on amazon, then when I have read them, pass them onto a friend, as I can't read them quick enough to go to library.
HOpe the last baby tit soon joins the others.
We often get a robin on our bird table. Seems they come here not only in winter time.
Hi Hicky
hope the cough is ok today, and hope the weather was nice enough for you to get into your garden.
I was working all afternoon, 3 hours on my feet straight off after doing my jobs at home, and walking the dog, then coming home to quickly cook tea as son had to dash off to theatre for reahearsals and I am feeling done in, with real achy feet. Working again tomorrow afternoon.
Ready to sit and enjoy some tv now. HOpe we have something interestng to watch tonight.
Have a good night both xxx
Evening Mollie.
19c today, sun all day with gentle breeze.
Didn't do a lot, had a kipper for brekkie with some bacon.
Had a swing in the sun, did some jobs in the greenhouse, checked the auto watering sprinkler heads for each plant was working.
Made some pork spare ribs, marinated and done to a Filipino recipe to try it, it seemed ok but don't think there was enough meat on the ribs.
My Salt Cod comes tomorrow from Portugal by DHL, should be interesting, it says its a 1.8kg piece, not sure if it is a whole fish or not, used to see it in Portugal as whole fish just laying on a counter, massive.
The baby goes to a nursery during the day as they both work, they have a story book site called storypark and we can see the baby during her day with the staff and other other children.
When she sees us on Skype she really is smiling etc, she sure knows us know.
We can talk with the family using Whatsapp on the phone or Skype on the computer/laptop, we usually see them Sunday morning now as O/H doesn't work Sunday any more.
The tv is all repeats, having to watch recordings, just watching the 4 yr olds now.
Evening All.
A rather nice day here, 22c in the end, did the washing and made a roast dinner, doc rang, i have an infection so went to pick up antibiotics.
My Salt Cod came, wow, so pleased, 1.9kg with big thick chunks, a lot of meals anyway.
Had some more pork spare ribs, not enough meat on them though.
Had a go on the swing seat, very nice.
Garden looking good up to now, apart from the new raspberry canes, they seem almost dead, if they don't produce some good shoots soon i will pull them up and scrap, i don't need raspberries anymore as i don't make jam now and have almost 3 kg of them in the freezer.
The greenhouse grape vine is growing well, grown about 5ft this year so far, the outside grape vine is doing well also, might net the bunches this year if i think they are in danger of beng attacked.
Hicky
glad you too got the sunshine.
Sunny all day here again too.
Gosh that is some big fish you have wending its way to you. Hope you enjoy it.
How nice you can even see the baby at Storypark. And Skype etc is so handy, especially as the baby can see you and you can see her. as she grows up.
Got some washing out and took dog a walk before work today. I have been in a lot of pain with the arthritis in my feet, especially after standing a straight 3 hours at work yesterday. I am exhausted and jhve even been in tears with the pain. So I told them I had arthritis and requested I sit down inbetween seeing to students. They readily agreed, so today was easier for me. Feet still sore after yesterday, but not as bad as last night, I had to go to bed just after 9 to rest my feet. It's odd I can walk for awhile, but then if I don't sit down inbetween the pain is bad.
Sat on swingchair for awhile when I got home.
You are right, too many repeats on tv lately.
I am pleased to say though that I have found a new series of A and E , so will watch that tonight.
Goodnight Hicky xxx
Evening Mollie and Hicky Beautiful weather here today .....my little garden guy came and got the lawns mowed ...so at least they are tidy All my baby birds have now left the box , so Iβm an empty nester again Sorry to hear about your arthritis Mollie ....hope you are feeling a bit better now Iβm just watching A&E Hicky , I hope the antibiotics kick in soon and you start to feel better
Anyway , night night both ...sleep well .
Evening Mollie & Baz.
Started the antibiotics so hopefully they will do the trick, have been feeling good today as well, before taking them which is a good sign, i sent the sputum sample away last Thursday, it takes a while to come back, not as long as the xray though.
I watched A&E as well, think i have loads recorded as well.
The salt cod is pieces, each piece being a meal for one i suppose, with it being dried it will take quite a bit of soaking to get the salt out, i'll start soaking so i can have some Sunday morning.
You shouldn't have stood for so long at the school, it will take a bit to get back to normal now, glad you got a seat in the end.
I got a taxi to the Pharmacy, o/h didn't fancy going out again as she had put her staying in clothes on, it only cost Β£10 round trip, well, that was with a tip.
Baz, that little garden guy, is that a little garden, or a little guy, anyway, i don't have grass as i can't keep cutting it every week, i have decking or blue slate which means i can walk on it whether it rains or not, it never goes soggy and the whole garden area is covered with weed matting which i laid when we moved in, i got a JCB and flattened the whole area first.
I will be able to use the Gazebo soon as well with this good weather, it has the 4 burner BBQ unit inside, and of course, the sides are covered with removable Poly-carbonate sheets that i got made and cut to size to keep the wind and rain out, it's a 3m x 3m Hex one.
Of course Baz once the baby birds take flight they dont' need the box again till next year.
Evening All.
Another lovely day, 20c forecast 22c showing on my Gazebo thermometer, sun all day and a gentle breeze.
My 10 packs of hot and sour soup mix came so i made a pack, yummy, just had to add a sliced up chicken breast and a few handfuls of chopped veg, some cornflour and an egg at the end.
I was pulling up a few weeds in one of the raised beds and one of the weeds seemed different, i do get some trees trying to grow so i started to pull it up, it had a large tap root which mostly came out in 1 piece, it was a Walnut tree with a walnut attached, no idea how a wallnut got in my garden, i have tried to save it and put it into a pot with compost to see if it can survive,
Had the soup, well 2 bowls, will freeze the remainder, then had a steak, just having a tin of fruit with a tin of custard.
Hicky
Hope the antibiotics help make you better, and those sample results don't take much longer to come back now.
Glad you too got the good weather. We did too.
Good idea to think about using the gazeebo and BBQ now we have the warm weather and light nights.
That is strange finding a walnut tree with walnut attached, It will be interesting to see how it goes if you can save it.
Sounds like you enjoyed your soup if you had 2 bowel fulls.
Baz
I bet your garden looks nice now it is freshly mown. Ours is overgrown now and covered in daisies! If it stay dry OH will cut it the weekend.
My arthtritis felts better than the other day thanks, as the boss at work made sure I had a chair to sit in, I won't be standing for 3 hours in a row again!
Watched Planet Child tonight. Very interesting.
At work today one poor girl was poorly and crying trying to do her A level paper. I took her to the toilet and she was vomiting. They took her out of the exam in the end. She was trying so hard to do the exam, but was plainly too unwell to continue. Poor thing. Theyounger lads looked bored and restless , don't blame them, a 2 hour exam in a really hot room is tiring, especially if you'd prefer to be home playing PC games.
Not working the rest of the week thank goodness, the 3 days was enough for me this week.
Time to do my physio exercises, they do seem to help my arthritis.
How is your OH's knee now HIcky? Does she still have to do special exercises.
Bedtime now for me, will read my book in bed for awhile.
Goodnight both xxx
Evening Mollie.
Cooler today at 18c sunny with moderate breeze.
My 20 packs of Laksa noodle soup came and also my 30 packs of Korean seafood noodle soup came, each pack makes 2 serving, for me!.
No idea how a whole Walnut could get in a raised bed, no idea how even a squirrel could get hold of one, i think the nut must have been buried in my compost heap which i emptied in the winter and put it into the raised beds.
It is still alive at the mo, will keep an eye on it, if it survives for a week i will repot it into a bigger pot.
I made a lovely loaf today as well, i didn't put seed in the dough, i put it on the outside, it's rather nice, i put the warm water, flour, salt, oil, yeast, put in breadmaker on knead fr 15 minutes, put in dish to rise for 1 hour, then hand kneaded for 5 minutes then rolled the dough in the seeds untill coated then put in bread tin and left to prove for 1 hour, then put in heated oven at 180c for 35 minutes, done perfect, when cool i had a crust to test with best butter, lovely.
Haven't been coughing anything up which is great, have made my shopping list for o/h in the morning, mainly fruit, banana, large oranges, strawberries and nectarines, i don't need her to get me meals as i have everything to make what i want.
No O/H doesn't need to do any special exercises, i think it's healed very well indeed.
I can't read in bed, i would fall asleep, i don't read anyway, unless it's instructions.
Evening Mollie and Hicky Hope youβve both had a good day . Not quite as sunny here , but my gardener guy has been round again and done a bit more tidying up . Hicky , your post makes my mouth water I love reading Mollie ....Iβm never with a book I like crime / whodunnit novels .Glad youβre both feeling a bit better healthwise . Iβve been for my weekly spa hour ....nice massage and facial ....so was nicely relaxed , at least for an hour or two Anyway , hope you both get a good nights sleep
Hicky and Baz
Hicky
you are certainly well supplied with soup now.
Cooler here too today and cloudy too, so no sundress but back to the long leggings and cardy. (I bet Emptybox would be back with his woolen hat up there!).
Your loaf sounds dead yummy, we buy a seeded loaf from Sainsburys that has the seeds on the outside, its nice, but not as nice as your home made one, I bet.
That's good news you are not coughing anything up now, hopefully now we are out of cold season and you don't need to fly on any germ filled aeroplanes, your cough should stay well away.
That sounds like a healthy shopping list of fruit. The strawberries are so tasty now we are into British ones. I also love the Jersey potatoes, shame the season is so short.
Baz
I like thriller reading too. Takes me ages to read a book as I am so done in by bedtime lately, I seem to be falling asleep on my books. I tend to read a fair bit more when its sunny though as I read on my swingchair in the garden.
What a nice relaxing treat for you to go for your weekly spa. All good for your all round health.
I am sititng with my neighbours dog right now as she has gone away and he pines so much for them. Daughter will stay overnight with him when she takes over later.
OH on his way home from work,I am hoping he will be home on time to go and view stuff at the auction later this afternoon.
Gogglebox tonight Baz. Wonde what they've watched this week?
Have a good day both xxx
Evening Mollie & Baz.
forecast said 17c today mut my thermometer said 22c, slight rain early on then some cloud and the sun came out.
Had 2 fried eggs on toasted sandwich for brekkie.
Rang the nursery about my plants, should have them all by the end of next week, they only send them out when ready of course.
Did some pruning on a tree that has branches overhanging my fence down by the bottom of the garden, the tree was cut down a few years ago but has sprouted tons of branches, when they cut it down they left about 5ft of the stump, it is in noones garden, it is withing 2 ft of my fence, i have lots of pruning/cutting equipment, one piece of equipment is a battery powered hand controlled very powerful choppers that can cut through 16mm branches with ease.
For tea i have just had another portion of the hot and sour soup i made the other day, then decided on a beef madras from the freezer, just boiled some rice.
These UK strawberries are so nice, could do with a punnet every day really.
My shopping came today, included was a couple of packs of Cashew nuts, unsalted and a pack of Shortbread Thins.
Have a good weekend everyone.
Will be back later ....but just wanted Mollie to know we will be watching Gogglebox at 10 ( on Plus 1 ) ....if you fancy joining us in the thread
Evening Mollie and Hicky Youβve been busy Hicky One of the cross beams of my pergola fell down today ....didnβt half make me jump ! Mollie , who are your favourite authors ? Iβve been re-Reading some Ann Granger ( Mitchell and Markby ) , and have recently found a new author ....Helen Fielding . I tend to like series with pairs of British detectives, where their relationships develop over the series . Anyway , Gogglebox awaits ....so night night both ....sleep well
Hicky and Baz
Hicky
looks like you should soon be busy with your plants.
Glad to see you are still enjoying your soup.
Yes those British strawberries are really at their prime now, so sweet and delicous. As you say, you could do with a pummet a day, but the trouble is getting to the shops to buy them. It was evening by the time I made it to tesco yesterdan and they had sold out! So I went to a smaller tesco this moring and bought 2 pummets as they had plenty. Are you growing any of them yourself this year?
Baz
thanks for the Gogglebox invite, unfortunately I missed it. Had gone to bed by the time it was on +1, my arthritis legs/feet seem to bother me in the evenings,so tend to go lie down in bed and read my book earlier than I used to though. I will pop over now though to see what you were all chatting about.
Gosh good job that pergola beam didn't fall on you. Can you get someone to fix it for you?
With books I tend to go from author to author, usually read the reviews on amazon before I buy. I think I may have read some of Helen Fielding, will look up the authors you mention.
Daughter bought me an annual subscription for Woman magazine, so I flick through that if I am tired and need some light reading. It arrives on Saturdays,so its a good (childish ) feeling knowing I get it 1st and it isn't in the shops till the Tuesday.
Have you been to town today?
We went to pub for brekkie, I have veggie cooked brekkie, then a slice of marmalade toast after. (greedy!) I will be moaning about putting too much fat on again soon!.
Went shopping after in costco.
Looking forward to Steven Mulhern's show, then BGT, then will catch end of Eurovision.
Been cloudy all day, but the sun has come out now, a lot warmer than yesterday though.
Have a good evening both xxx
Evening Mollie & Baz.
Cooler today at 15c with light cloud, had some sunny intervals though, wind at gentle breeze.
Wow Baz, you were lucky the falling cross beam missed you it could have been nasty, had it rotted or been dislodged with the gales?
Just had 2 crumpets for brekkie, had a Laksa noodle soup at 2pm, Been doing more work on the greenhouse for the new plants when they come, support canes for the plant and checking the watering spray heads, did a bit of work on the outside grape vine.
Sprayed all the trees yesterday with Neem oil for protection, did some thinning out of the apples so a cluster has no more than 3 in the group.
Had a couple of curry samosa's for tea, big ones that needed cooking, then had some mushroom soup.
Had to stop eating my Cashew nuts when i noticed they had Zinc in them and one of the things that don;t go with my antibiotics is Zinc.
Will record BGT as i want to watch the Eurovision, it's so funny, especially the voting.
The problem with the strawberries is they only last me an hour, can't stop eating them.
Good Evening Everyone.
Another rather nice day really, cool again at 15c with cloud and some sun with a gentle breeze.
Had my Salf cod for brekkie with bacon and toast, very nice but will have to saok the fish for 2 days next time.
Did a bit more work in the garden, pulled the raspberry canes up as they didn't take, will ring the supplier tomorrow, have planted peas in the are now.
Did some more work in the greenhouse to make the cord framework for the vine into 3 rows each side to allow the vine to grow along, i have the 6 branches growing at the moment.
Had some fruit during the day, for tea had another of the seafood noodle soups, it makes 2 serving which i like, i added a pack of brown shrimps in as well, then i had a tinf of orange Mandarin segments and 2 thins for afters.
Will have to watch my BGT recording now, not sure what else is on, will do a program scan to see.
Evening Mollie and Hicky Hope youβve both had a good weekend . My daughter and her partner came over and are going to fix the pergola ....they will have to take some down cos it rotted It makes me a bit sad though , as my husband built it You both seem much more green fingered than me
Mollie ....at least there was no Sex Tapes on Gogglebox this week ....that programme is beyond tacky! I tend to like series of thrillers with the same detective (s) in them ....like the Shetland series , or Rebus .
Hicky , how is your chest infection now ? Did you watch Eurovision ....I understand we did really well I miss not having BB to watch ....even though it had turned into rubbish most of the time
both xxx
Hicky
good idea to get the greenhouse ready for the imminent arrival of your plants.
Gosh who would of thought you couldn't mix cashews with antibiotics! Never realised about zinc. Hope the antibiotics have helped clear that cough now.
I guess it doesn't matter if you can't stop eating strawberries, as they are real good for you with all that vitamin C.
Baz
Aaaw I can understand you feeling upset about the pergola as your husband built it.
Oh my goodness I am not green fingered at all. I leave the garden to the OH. My aches and pains wouldn't allow me to do much gardening now. Mind you, the most I did before was to mow the grass. I do like sitting in the swingchair on a nice day though.
Yes I'm glad to say no Sex tapes this week on Gogglebox, I did leave the room for the last bit though when I saw it was that Bear Grills thing, as I can't stand seeing animals being killed.
Emptybox used to watch Shetland and enjoy it, but I missed it as I (wrongly) thought it was only shown in Scotland. I do like a good drama though.
I saw some of Eurovision after BGT. Some real weird acts on! Didn't see it to the end though, as I thought it ended at 10.40 but realised later it wasn't until 11.40!
One of those showery days when it decided to rain each time I put another washload out. Gave up and clothes are on the airer indoors now.
Watched Antiques Roadshow tonight. Some interesting stuff on it.
Had text off Emptybox's brother, He has managed to clear the cottage now, and got rid of a lot of stuff and sent the rest to auction. He is missing their Sunday night phone conversations. (even though Emptybox was not known for his long phone conversations).
Goodnight both xxx
Hicky and Baz
hope you are both having a good day.
Warm and sunny here today after the very early morning chill. Got a few washloads dried any way.
Had a nice veggie burger for tea, and some delcious strawberries with mascapone after. Did you have strawberries today Hicky?
Managed a bit of a read on the swingchair as it was so warm today.
OH's car failed MOT, but it is 10 years old, done about 150k miles. So he has to take it back to get work done tomorrow. Going to watch that Hatton Garden new drama tonight.
Did you get some work done in your garden Hicky?
And did you sit out in yours Baz? Do you ever read your books outside Baz? I do but I need my sunglasses and cap to shade things.
Have a good evening both xxx
Evening Mollie & Baz.
A nice day here at 15c with sunny intervals in the morning and full sun from 2pm with a moderate breeze.
Had eggs on toast for brekkie, made another loaf after that and put 100g of wholemeal flour in the mix, and a TBSP of Malt flour, a TBSP of powdered milk, just rolled the finished dough in some seed before i put it into the baking tin to prove, then baked for 35 mins, haven't tried it yet but will have the crust soon.
Rang the company about the failed raspberry canes, i told them i didn't want more canes, they are going to send me some 'Strawberry plants.
For tea i made a pan of hot and sour soup, enough for 4 portions, i have plenty of chicken breasts and frozen veg, will freeze whats left.
Baz, I think my chest infection has gone, not coughing much at all, certainly not coughing up phlegm as i was, only got 2 tablets left, including one i will take in a minute.
Glad you are getting help to sort the Pergola out, not easy when you husband built it, i built one at my other house, and had lots of growth on it, i had a bird bath underneath that was filled by an automatic watering system that refilled it 4 times a day, never seen so many birds in my life, most having a bath, they used to queue up along the fence for their turn.
It will have rotted if the wood gets wet but for some reason can't get the wind etc to dry it out, wet wood rot, dry wood doesn't, the same as wood that goes into the ground, it becomes ground.
.It was a pity we came last in the Eurovision, but we don't put in the right songs because the writers of the songs don't want a winning song associated with the show, simple as, so the choices of the songs we get to put forward are not good enough.
Mollie, These particular Cashews that contain Zinc are probably ok with other Antibiotics, just this particular one seems pretty special, it is Doxycycline 100mg.
This = https://www.nhs.uk/medicines/doxycycline/
I might be having some home grown strawberries now as well, the last time i grew them the squirrels decimated them so i wasn't going to grow them again, so i'll see.
Night night Mollie and Hicky Sorry about your car Mollie ...hope itβs not too expensive . I used to sit out and read ....but like you say it can get a bit awkward with the glare . Tbh I find I canβt sit outside these days cos it upsets me too much remembering how things were Hicky , Iβm glad your chest is better now ...we have a bird bath , but I have to fill it manually But we also have a lot of birds in the garden and they cost me an arm and a leg to feed
Anyway , Iβm off to bed now ....I hope you both sleep well . Sweet dreams .
Evening Baz & Molly.
A rather nice day here at 15c, sunny all day and a moderate breeze.
Didn't do a lot, got my results from the xray, it was normal.
Had eggs on toast for brekkie, my new loaf makes very nice toast and it's a lovely texture as well, will use the same recipe next time, i have lots of ingredients in stock and the way i make it now it costs very little to make as 15 minutes in the breadmaker for the kneading costs hardly anything and 35 minutes in the oven won't cost much as the thermostat kicks in to save money.
Did a bit more thinning, the pears today, will see how they grow now, should be plenty of room for whats left.
Did a bit more work in the greenhouse, have got the spray heads for the plants so i can raise or lower them very easy, each spray head has an adjustable tap so i can lesson the spray as needed.
When i built the greenhouse i install the irigation system with about 20 watering points each with a mini 4mm tap, the 13mm main pipe runs around the greenhouse at the bottom of the roof level and has the watering computer in the line, which is fed from another watering computer which supplies it with water at 09:25 and that one gets its water from another watering computer that turns on at 09:00 each morning for an hour, another 2 watering computers are fed by this, 1 comes on at 09:01 for 10 minutes for Zone 1, the next one comes on at 09:15 for 10 minutes for Zone 2, the greenhouse comes on with Zone 3 which does more trees as well.
Zone 1 supplies water to the 4 apples trees, 3 Pear trees and e cherry trees, Zone 2 supplies 3 fig trees, 1 kiwi vine, 5 raised beds with 5 spray heads each, Zone 3 supplies 2 apple trees, 4 plum trees, 2 fig trees, 3 Potato tubs and the bug hotel roof which has plants growing on it and the greenhouse.
For tea i got a Butter Prawn meal from the freezer and made some Chapati's for a change.
I stopped putting the water out at this place, also stopped the seed as the mess grew massive, and they ate all i put out but they kick the seed about and i had an area growing where the seed had taken root and the mess on the fence, wow.
Think i'll get a tin of fruit, running out of fresh stuff.
Was watching Celebrity Catchphase, it is so funny.
both xxx
Hicky
so glad to hear your x ray was normal, looks like it you were just unlucky and picked up a few cough viruses whilst travelling. How much longer you got on that antibiotics? Looks like a strong one, not only do you have to avoid cashews, I see you need to be carefull of sunlight. But as long as it does the job (minus bad side effects), that is what is important.
I can imagine how delicious your home made bread is, and I bet it smells yummy too. I love eating fresh bread whilst still warm and crisp.
that watering system sounds very mathematic to me, good job you know what you are doing.
I know what you mean about messy seed...., our bird table blew over today, so the seed is all over the floor. It doesn't give us the same problems you have though, maybe because we only have the odd little birds coming.
Can you try netting on your strawberries? We bought a pummet from Sainsburys today. They are so sweet, I think these ones were nicer than the Tesco ones.
Baz
I am so sorry to hear how painfull it still is for you to sit outside on your own.
That's nice you get so many birds in your garden, pity it is so expensive though. I reckon we don't get many here as we are so close to a motorway. We used to get a lot more in our last house.
Was at work this morning. They were doing Maths exams...,quite a few youngsters finish ages before the end, so get bored sitting, as they can't leave the exam room till exam time is up. Which means we get lots of requests for toilet visits. And I had a couple of budding artists, who became so bored with the maths paper, one coloured in a complete page and the other sketched a picture of a girl.
Bettet than last time when I had to rush to take a girl to the toilets, as she was vomiting. Poor thing, not sure if she had a bug or it was just nerves. They had to send her home in the end.
Sat in the garden when work finished as I was tired. I had cheese and onion quiche with salad and jacket potato for tea. Followed by strawberries and cream.
Watching Professional bake off tonight, then A and E after.
Have a good evening both xxx
Evening Both.
Forgot to copy the post before i pressed Post, big mistake.
And they want me to pay to post, must be mad when they delete my post with a fake reason as when i sign in again i haven't changed any setting so it had to be an error / bug in the system.
It did it again, asked do i agree with the cookies, let me make a post, when i pressed Post it say my computer doesn't allow cookies, it signed me out and i had to refresh the page and sign in.
Tried to screen print some of the lost post.
15c today, it said rain showers but never got any, a gentle breeze.
Had Bacon and toast for brekkie, my loaf makes rather nice toast.
Have been notified that the rest of my veg plants have been dispatched so should get them all this week, 3 separate packages though of course.
Did a bit more in the garden and greenhouse, ready for the new veg now.
Will feed the Cherry trees tomorrow and the rest of the trees after that, have got 22 gallon of feed ready then will make another 22.
I have finished the last course of antibiotics and am feeling good, i must have had the chest infection before i went to Oz.
Yes, i will make a metal wire frame for the strawberries, i have the ,aterial and the tools to do it.
I didn't have my spicy food today as it gives me a red blotch on the back of my hand when i do.
Watching the Farmers Country showdown, then our Yorkshire Farm, then the Chelsea flower show, then the undercover hospital abuse scandal, then 24 hrs in A&E
Evening both Hope youβve both had a good day . Good news about the X-ray Hicky I agree about the bird seed ....mine are costing me a fortune and Iβm forever sweeping it up Lol at your budding artists Mollie ....but bless the little one who was sick . Iβm watching Chelsea ....then Iβm off to bbc4 for a couple of hours history programmes . Anyway , Iβll try to remember to pop back before bedtime
both xxx
Hicky
i sometimes get that cookie thing, so difficult if you lose the post.
Glad you are feeling well again at last. Yes I do remember you saying you had a cough/cold before you went to Oz, so it must of hung on whilst you were away.
Do you think the red blotch is a side effect of the antibiotics?
22 galloon of feed, then another 22, that is a lot of feed!
Feet and legs so tired after work today, it was so hot in the exam hall today. They had the heating on when we got there! What a waste when it was hot outside. Poor kids were yawming more than ever.
Baz
sounds like you have some interesting tv lined up. I am looking forward to Hatton garden with Timothy Spall again at 9pm. I got 2 new books today from the tesco 2 for Β£8. As usual it will take awhile for me to read them. Both were authors I have enjoyed reading before.
OH got a damn parking fine today. So unfair as it was from when we took our disabled friend and her 4 year old twin grandaughters. I didn't even know costco car park charged for over 3 hours! We took that length of time because friend is in a wheelchair, we also had 2 trolleys, one for each of the twins to sit in, So it took ages to walk round the huge store, friend was looking at laptops as well as buying food. Then we ate at the cafe, huge queue took us ages to buy food for 7 people! Then the twins wanted ice creams so back in the quieue again. Then they wanted the toilet. My friend even has a blue disabled badge and they still fined her Β£50!! The other friend who came with us is disabled too, as she lost toes from diabetes and has to have kidney dialasis 3 times a week! I hate the money these shopping car parks fleece the public out of.
Time to watch a bit of tv now.
Have a good evening both xxx
Afternoon Mollie and Hicky Hope you both enjoying the sunshine .
Sorry about the parking fine Mollie Can you try contesting it ? Mr B got one once for parking at B &Q ....he didnβt know there was a limit either ....and he was a blue badge holder with mobility problems....so was also in a disabled spot ! Being a stubborn Yorkshireman he argued the mobility point and won
Hicky , are you enjoying Chelsea ? I like some of the gardens , but tbh I donβt think they are as good as previous years ...too many trees and greenery, and not enough colour for my liking
I have been for an hour at our local spa ....it gets me out of the house ....so am now sporting sparkly , pink gel toes
Hicky
Baz
hope you are both having a good day. Wonder if the good weather is going to last over the bank hol?
Good on MrB for being a stubborn Yorkshire man. (and coming from a lovely part of the world too). Good idea, I will complain to the store about the fine next time we go in. Worth a try anyway.
I too like bright and flowery in gardens. (I also like my flowery blouses/dresses too in summer ).
How nice you got some nice relaxing time to yourself at the spa today.
HOpe the weather was nice for you today Hicky, so you could get on with your many jobs in the garden.
We had a lot of students for exams, so I worked a straight through 5 hour shift today. We did get a quick short break in the middle though. Was tired out, so treated myself to meeting my 2 friends in the carvary for tea. Great to sit down and have the meal cooked for me. Stayed nearly 3 hours with them in carvary. (they are my disabled friends so they tend to just go to one place as it is hard work getting around for them).
Going to watch last in the series of Hatton Garden tonight.
I have heard from Emptybox's cousin again. I had copied Emptybox's posts about his uncles funeral to her and she thanked me for it and said how moved she was to read about it in Emptybox's own words. And how nice it was for her to know how fond of her father he was. So hard for her losing her father, and then her cousin just weeks after, in such a sad manner, as she was very close to Emptybox whilst they were young.
Have a good evening both xxx
Evening Both.
another nice day here, 17c sunny intervals with gentle breeze.
All my veg plants came today so i'm happy about that.
And a relative from way down South popped in as he was down here visiting, he makes his own bread as well.
Had the second half of last nights beef and tomato meal with half rice, half chips, very nice too.
For tea i had half of the Donor meat i bought last night, made some fried rice and some chip shop curry as i keep the mix in the cupboard, got enough meat left for another meal.
Fed the Cherry trees with 1 gallon each of compost tea.
The red blotch i get only comes after i have spicy food, it has done for years, it only stays a few days when i leave off the spice.
Baz, the problem with the Chelsea flower show is, i am colour blind so don't see what you see, thats why i don't have flowers, o/h has flowers inn the front garden, i only grow what i can eat.
I can't even tell what all the greenery is either, most of it looks the same to me, i like to see the layouts though.
That was nice Mollie hearing from Emptybox's cousin again.
You are working hard at this school, 5 hours is a long time, not if your sunbathing though, but you aren't.
Just made my shopping list out for the morning for o/h.
Just watched Inside the Ambulance, oh another one starting.
Weather looks ok for the next few days anyway.
Sleep tight, don't let the bed bugs bite.
Evening All.
Not too bad today, 15c light cloud, dry with moderate breeze.
For brekkie had the other half of the Donor meat from yesterday with the rest of the curry, made more rice though.
For tea i had 6 nice big pork spare ribs.
My shopping arrived, one thing o/h is a great shopper and of course she gets 20% off sometimes, otherwise it's 10% i think, got my fruit as well as some spices etc.
Didn't do much in the garden, put a mulch of shredded cardboard around the onions and new plants.
The weekend is here again, doesn't time fly?
Hope everyone has a great weekend wherever you are.
Hicky and Baz
hope you are both having a good Friday.
Gogglebox day again Baz. So funny it is.
Hicky
glad you had a good weather day today, and you now have your veg plants.
Nice day to have a relative pop in, how far South is he? eg Cornwall?
That is odd how you get a red blotch from spicy food.
Hope your OH got all you needed on your shopping list.
Today we looked round the auction but not much of interest there today. We went with the family for tea in a village pub. I had some sort of veggie cottage pie and veg, very nice.
My feet arthtritis was bad today after work yesterday so was glad I was not on the rota today. My son was though, but he went to do the computer exam, which suits him, so glad i am not doing those.
Tv time, then to bed for a read and rest my feet.
Have a good evening both xxx
Afternoon Mollie and Hicky Hope you are both enjoying your Saturday . Iβve not done much at all ....just some washing , ironing and a bit more shredding . Mr B was a dreadful paperwork hoarder ...and worked from home for years ....so there is loads still to be done .
How lovely that Emptybox cousin can get some comfort from his posts Mollie I enjoyed Gogglebox last night ....Jenny and Lee , and the brother and sister made me laugh out loud Hope your feet are better today .
Hicky , aww I didnβt know you were colour blind ....but veggies are good too....Iβm useless at both I often used to watch Inside the Ambulance too ....and 24 Hours in A&E ......I also like GPS Behind Closed Doors
Anyway , I hope you both have a good evening ....and enjoy the Bank Holiday
Good Evening Both. :
Warm enough today but mainly cloud, 16c light cloud and a touch of rain, a gentle breeze.
Had sausages and fried eggs on toast for brekkie.
Did a bit of weeding on the blue slate, the beauty of having weed matting over the whole area the seeded weeds can't get a growing medium they just get water from over the matting.
For tea had mushroom soup and tinned spuds with fried mushrooms and a small tin of beans.
Yes, being colour blind is not allowed for in general, it's hard to read labels on jars, web pages, all adverts, nearly everything uses coloured text on coloured background, it really is a nightmare, half the pages in the doctors i can't read most of them.
I'm not sure where that relation who came lives now as i think he moved, he has asked us to go to his place for a holiday, he used to live a few miles away till his o/h died, she was another SIL, not that old either, the youngest of the 7 children.
Yes, all my shopping on the list came, very pleased.
That was nice going for a pub meal, they are really good these days in general.
Thats bad news about your feet, did you have to stand all day again?
I don't usually grow what i can't eat it and flowers never interested me, always love fruit trees.
Have a good rest of the Bank Holiday weekend.
Just watching the highlights of the F1 Monaco qualifying then BGT.

Baz
well blow me down, you were dead right about the parking fine. You have now saved me Β£50. I took the car park fine bill paperwork to the store and they readily said as I was a member of costco, and was in their store, I didn't have to pay. They photocopied my membership card and fine letter and said they email the company to cancel it, if they issue them. So when we go to the store next, I am going to tell them my disabled friend already paid, because the fine letter was threatening to double the fine amount, so scared her. But she too had only been in the store with us (and had spent money on her card there) and see if they can get her a refund.
Gosh I can imagine how much stuff you have to shred if you have MrB's business stuff to shred. We have our own business too and have tons of paperwork.
Yes Jenny and Lea were so funny on Gogglebox, I also like the 2 elderly Bristol ladies. I too like GP's behind closed doors.
Feet recovered quite a lot today thanks. Managed to do quite a lot of walking today.
Like Hicky, my 2 lads are colour blind. Just red/green one. I think it is quite common amongst males.
Hicky
hope you had the nice weather we have had today, so you can get in your garden and sort your veg out.
I see you are still having unusual brekkie menus.
Very handy your OH gets a shopping discount.
We just went to costco today.
Lots of nice free food samples today, and we had lunch in the cafe. At Β£1.50 for jacket potato and up to 2 filling on it, can't complain.
Looking forward to watching BGT tonight. Watching Steven Mulhurn now, quite funny.
Have a good evening both xxx
Hicky and Baz
hope you are having a good Sunday.
we certainly had a wet day here today, the rain was heavy all day up until about 4pm. Went out for brekkie at local garden centre, which was very nice. This place do the most delicous brown fried bread, and I had beans, tomato, hash brown and mushrooms with it.
Watched Antiques Roadshow tonight.
Goodnight both xxx
Evening Mollie and Hicky Hope youβve both had a good day . It rained here this morning but was sunny this afternoon . Iβve not done much .....no buses until Tuesday , so Iβm stuck in !
Mollie , Iβm really glad you got the fine negated ....Mr B would have been proud of you I like the Bristol ladies too . Hicky , hope youβve had an enjoyable Sunday . Iβm watching some nature documentaries . ...so night night , sleep tight both
Evening Both.
A bit late, forgot.
Had a good Skype show with my lad in Oz with his family, with my granddaughter as well of course, she really loves seeing us on a Sunday Morning, of course it is about Sunday evening their about 7pm, she was so excited to see us, and she can stand up to watch us.
Had fried eggs on toast for brekkie, for tea had one of the frozen hot and sour soups from the other night, then had a Ribeye Steak with Chips and Gravy, i had oven chips but fried them in the wok, yummy.
16c today, light rain in the morning, then sunny intervals, then sunny from 6pm.
Didn't do a lot in the garden, spent time in the greenhouse as i'm traing the vine along 6 wires which i want to cover 3 sides, have some grape truss flowers on all ready, and some trusses are a foot long all ready.
Don't blame you getting a meal at Costco, for that price it's a steal.
I recorded the BGT as i was watching another program.
I see you had similar weather today as me Baz, the rain was light.
Have a good Bank Holiday Monday, could have a drop of light rain here tomorrow.
